Southeast Exposure offers sea kayaking excursions to the Tatoosh Islands and the Eagle Islands.  Also available is a bike tour to Clover Pass.  Most trips (including these three) are only available/sold through cruise ship shore excursion staff.  However, SE has three options for independent travelers: kayak rentals, the "Guide's Choice" tour, and/or a 5-day trip to the Misty Fjords National Monument.  

Regardless, whether your adventure is part of a cruise ship excursion or an independent one, SE will ensure you an adventure.  My experience with SE was part of a Royal Caribbean shore excursion.  We were picked up on a bus outside of the ship and driven to their place of business about 10-15 mins away.  Next we jumped on an inflatable boat with a hard bottom (I can't remember what they're called - but see photos) and taken to a kayak beach.  For the next couple hours we paddled the Tatoosh Islands for about 3 miles or so - the view was outrageous - and we were even able to see some wildlife. Great trip with a super friendly and knowledgeable (and good looking!!) staff.  I highly recommend SE to anyone visiting Ketchikan.
