Let me get this right...I can get an omelet AND pancakes AND my choice of another side for under $10? YES! This is another one of my favorite breakfast places in Boulder.  Each meal comes with a choice of sides, which is ingenious for someone like me who is indecisive and often picky.  The eggs are never dry and their pancakes are melt in your mouth wonderful.  The French toast is also very good as are the breakfast potatoes.  I've never had lunch there as I am a breakfast enthusiast, but my companion's lunch entrees have always looked inviting.  On busy days the restaurant tends to be noisy, but ask to be seated outside and enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors.  Unlike many other restaurants in Boulder, accessibility in the entire restaurant is good.

A lot of places that I frequent I know exactly what I'm going to get before I walk in the front door. At Walnut I'm always torn between all the tasty options -- and they do have quite an extensive menu. Sandwiches and melts, and tons of breakfast stuff.

Some highlights are: the Skip Scramble, the Boulder Melt, and the heart-stopping Eggs Marcos (eggs scrambled up with bacon, cheddar, AND cream cheese?? Oh yes.)

Their options of sides are delicious. If you want a little something extra special, try their sour cream walnut coffee cake. It is warm and moist and delicious!

Reasonably priced, nice and colorful atmosphere. Love the patio -- and last time I sat outside, there weren't any shady tables, so I sat my Irish sunburn-prone self down in the sun. After less than a minute they came over and gave me some sunscreen to put on. How nice is that?

I'm a conflicted breakfast eater.  I love love love pancakes and all of their carb-y iterations, but know that I need eggs to keep sustained and chemically balanced.  Therefore I get super excited at a place like this where your eggs come with a choice of sides that include pancakes, french toast, and blueberry cornbread.

Food was tasty and well-proportioned, and we weren't lacking good items to choose from.  We were sad that we didn't notice the specials board until after we ordered, but we'll have to keep our eye out for quiche specials and egg scrambles in the future.

We sat at the counter which was dangerous because 1) the stools are ridiculously high, which I forgot as I launched myself off mine and into neighboring diners and 2) I spent my whole meal staring at the extensive dessert menu.

Met here with some friends for lunch, and it was pretty good. The menu seemed pretty varied, what with the veg & carni selections, and the prices were very decent.

I'm not sure what I was in mood for, but the philly seemed to be the closest to what I wanted. I really wish they had seasoned the beef a bit- what i received seemed way too bland, but the cheese was good and melty, and the whole thing went down pretty easily. My wife and our friends raved about their food, so I may have just ordered the weak link.

They serve birthday cake but, sadly, they ran out before we could order any.

Yum yum yum!

Gotta love any place that
a) Serves birthday cake on the menu
b) has breakfast all day
c) lets you sub the meat in any dish with two (2!) other sides for free
d) has such friendly staff
e) good, quality food

Minus one star because the portions are a tad on the short side...

The brighter and airier of the The Walnut Cafe's with the same menu and quirky wait staff. I prefer this location for it's big window's and sprawling patio. If you get seated on the souther flank of the patio, you can get some nice mountain views with your meal.

There's all that health garbage for you suckers who eat "well" but it takes something really amazing to temp me away from ordering the Eggs Marcos (I'm with ya Vince!).

I have to take away one star for having really awful hashbrowns. When will people learn that crunchy shredded spuds are the only way to go?!

The little sister of the Walnut Cafe, the South Side has really forged its own identity in the past few years, and honestly, I prefer the southern variety. It doesn't have the same flavor as the more old-school original, but it has great personality and great, friendly servers who actually remember who you are.

I've had many great breakfast items here (and they also make a mean burger and BLT), but nothing compares to the Eggs Marcos. Get yourself one of those and a hot drink from the espresso bar, and your day is off to a great start.

I went here after after a pretty tough hike...I was hungry and looking for a decent plate of food. I looked around and the food looked pretty good for those who had already been served. I figured, this is a nice place..I'm a vegetarian so my options are somewhat limited; however, this place seemed to cater completely to the veges.
What I ordered was a number 7--a sandwich packed with avocado, grilled onions, and a cornucopia of vegetables on wheat. This thing will probably be spilling over with lush greens, I thought. Granted, many of the meals looked pretty good out there. Mine, however, looked like it had been stepped on by a SI Army boot before it was put on my plate. It was flat, totally devoid of anything..Probably had 30 cents worth of veges on it. I paid $6.50. I was pissed..They serve birthday cake and the sign says they're a "people friendly" zone or something..Whatever, this is no place for vegetarians.
