As of April of last year, South Indian Cafe is of no more. Apparently after 10 years, the master chef had enough and decided to call it quits forever, leaving behind a devastated suburban Atlanta (Decatur) Indian community behind (okay, a tad dramatic.).
As per their site, "Our last day of operations was June 4th..." which makes me a very sad foodie but a proud one to have dined there at least once. The home-style cooking and family style presentation was a treat as it was easily one of the most authentic South Indian places the Atlanta area had to offer. The prices were cheap, the food was delicious, the ambiance was quaint, but the bathrooms (building style) were downright horrendous. Hopefully a rebirth of their services will be somewhere in the area down the road.
great food, not too expensive. the nan's divine, samosas are the only deep-fried food i eat because they're too good to give up.
usually not full, but always smells good.
