This review is for the spa only.
I came here for a friend's birthday and was bummed I didn't have the time to enjoy the facilities, so, I had a wild hair the next day and drove up from San Diego and spent the day by the amazing, perfectly warm, salt water pool. I felt like I was on a mini vacation!
I came back two weeks later with my boyfriend and scheduled a massage, it was a little pricey, but well worth it and very much needed!
The staff is friendly, the ambiance--perfect! I'm so addicted to the spa that I signed up for the wine club just to get the 10% discount for spa services! Love this place!
WOW LOVE THIS PLACE
My bf surprised me with a weekend away in wine country for my 21st, and chose South Coast Winery to stay at. It had a lot to live up to since it's been voted the best winery in CA for two years now.
Rooms- the room was cozy and cute!! Nice sized with a SUPER comfy king bed with LOTS of fluffy pillows. Seriously the comfiest bed ever :) The bathroom was very large with separate shower and jetted tub, dual sinks...very luxurious. Fireplace in the sitting area, minibar, and little breakfast table with complimentary bottle of wine and souvenior glasses. Beautifully classy room with small patio with a view.
Wine tasting- As a guest we got a complimentary taste of three wines. I chose the sparkler sampler and discovered their 2007 Riesling which is VERY yummy. Nathan tried the whites, though none stood out that much that he tried. We decided to try some more so did the two for one deal: $12 for for both of us to try 5 tastes each!! The wine list is very long with a nice selection of all types. Friendly people working there who answered a lot of my newbie questions, such as what "dry" means. The tasting room itself is nothing amazing, but the scenery outside where u can enjoy a glass of wine is beautiful.
Faves: Riesling and Spumante Diamonte. yummy.....
Overall LOVED my stay here. Very romantic and highly recommend for a romantic getaway. Everyone who worked here was very friendly and helpful, and the place is beautiful! Check out the restaurant too!! YUMMY with EXCELLENT service!!

My wife and I stayed in one of the villas for our honeymoon and we havent stopped talking about it or rather bragging about it in years. The room was wonderful, with a big bathroom with a great tub and shower, breakfast nook, fireplace and private patio. The bed is comfy and big. South Coast really thought out the villas because each one feels completely private and overlooks the vineyards.
The wine is also a highlight, especially their reds. We didnt get to check out their spa but have heard great things about it as well.
Came here on August 28 to celebrate my pops' birthday, so my mom and I set up a wine tasting tour for the three of us.
For $25 a head, it was a nice way to spend a lazy Friday afternoon...the weather wasn't too bad in Temecula that day although the entire Inland Empire was feeling triple digit temperatures.
The tour lasted about an hour and a half and took us almost through the entire "back room" facility, where all the South Coast Winery branded wines are made, from visiting the vines themselves (we came at the right time, the grapes were ripe and ready to eat off the vine), to the giant steel fermenting chambers they mature the wine in.
We were poured samples of different kinds of wine every fifteen minutes and had every question about wine asked answered immediately by our friendly guide.
The day ended with a wine, cheese and fruit pairing under the shade of a large gazebo.
We finished off our day there eating in the resort's restaurant. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh...many of their ingredients are grown and harvested on property. I definitely recommend stopping in for a bite to eat.
You can opt not to take the tour of the winery, but saddle up to the large bar flanking the right side of the gift shop and order any kind of vino by the glass.
Money well spent!

Camping at Lake Skinner and the winery was only 5mins away.. Wow, its a GO.. I heard and read up on this location all the time, with endless activities; so I decide to get some friends to come along with me do some wine tasting...
It cost $12 for 5 taste.. their list was long; full page of whites and another for reds. I came with 3 guys so the guy who work the tasting was cheap..name Roland... he only pour bit less an ounce for us... when I got to look around, I realized that the other people were getting so so much more wines then we did... they were getting double... then observing around, i realized that if you were a female, and smile away; he (our wine guy) will pour you much more... lol... so when my friend Susan show up, I told her to smile at him and he sure did.. Bamm! she sure did got more and lots of it... so this proof our observation... lol.. I came there to taste, walking in with 3 guys, that he see; there no love there.. but when a single gal show up.. he double her drink..
well, back to tasting... I request for all Reds and bold tasting... my wine end up to be ok.. one of the aroma was pleasant; yet the taste is just not there... I had 2 guys who was 1st time wine taster, they like few of the sweet wines... and it works for them; since they are starting to taste...
I spent an entire weekend here for a bachelorette party and I can honestly say they did not miss a beat! Below you will find a review for the resort, the restaraunt, the spa, the tasting room, and the wine membership.
We arrived on a Friday around 12pm and were able to check in early so we could get our limo wine tour started. I wouldn't count on this in the future but it was an excellent perk! We had a large 2 queen villa with a pull out couch which was perfect for 6 girls and our villa was the closest villa to the pool, spa, and work out facilities.
Friday afternoon we headed into the bar area for happy hour and I was so excited to find $3 23 ounce Stella Artois! A winery with cheap (and good) beer? I love wine, but I love beer more. The chicken quesadilla, cheese plate, and shrimp ceviche were all delicious as well!
Saturday the bridesmaids spent all day by the pool and ordered from their cabana for lunch. I split the grilled vegetable wrap with a friend of mine. I loved that the spicy mayo-like sauce came on the side because I hate all things mayo. The veggies were perfectly seasoned and grilled and I inhaled that wrap in no time!
We sent the bride in for a massage and over an hour and a half later she came out of the Grapeseed spa with a glass of wine and really relaxed. I can't rate the massage myself, but I'd say it was worth it for her to get rid of some pre-wedding stress.
After heading back to our gorgeous villa to shower and change, a couple of us got to go to the members only tasting area because our friend that is a member had a bunch of tasting tickets left over. Well I tasted 4 wines and loved all 4 so much that I took an application to be a member. I decided that if I was still thinking about the wines the next day, then I would come back and in and sign up.
We checked out Sunday morning and as two of the girls went to pick up their membership shipments, I signed up for the mixed membership selection. Then as a member I got 20% any other wine purchases which was perfect because I had been meaning to get some of their Black Jack port for a while.
Well I got home Sunday afternoon and found out that they had accidentally given me the white wine mix (not too excited about that) so I called and left a voicemail for the wine club folks. Monday morning they promptly called me back, apologized, and offerred to ship the box of mixed wines out within a week. I don't care for the whites, but I think it's stellar of them to say "we're sorry, keep those because of our mistake." Now I have last minute gifts for folks around Christmas time!

I really enjoyed this winery. They have a HUGE list of wines to choose from, and almost all the ones I tried were very good.
It was beyond packed yesterday, we barely had room at the tasting bar. I most likely will not come back here on the weekend...I hate feeling rushed and cramped. The server did a good job though, he just seemed very overwhelmed by the masses of lushes demanding his attention.
Favorites of the day - Muscat Canelli, Spumante Diamante, and Merlot Rose. The Merlot Rose was AMAZING, it tasted like blueberries!! I have never had wine like that before! I ended up buying one bottle each of the wines I liked.
The good thing about these wines, is that you can also buy some of them at Cost Plus World Market...I think I will be picking them up there instead of standing in huge lines at South Coast.

This review is for the restaurant only.
When my sister-in-law visited from NYC we took her wine tasting in our local Temecula wineries including what we had hoped would be a memorable lunch at South Coast Winery. We ordered the South Coast Shrimp Panino ~ Roasted Garlic Aioli, Fresh Herb Sautee Shrimp, Deep Fried Green Tomatoes, Provolone Cheese on a Ciabatta Bun Served with Parmesan Piccante Fries. Sounds great doesn't it? The reality was the food was poor. A few small boiled and tasteless shrimp sat atop a mound of cole slaw swimming in an ocean of mayonnaise in a soggy and messy bun. Really pathetic; don't waste your money in the restaurant.
Review based upon tasting only:
Good- Beautiful property, Blackjack Port
Bad- The wine tasting room is large and getting to the counter to actually taste wine is like trying to get a drink at an over crowded club.
Ugly- The winery clearly knows that it is hard to enjoy tasting in the room so they cater to wine club members who can sit outside and get their tastings from walk up bars that have little to no wait.
I would not go back just for a tasting; however, I understand the villas are very nice.
The resort portion of this winery is awesome. I'm obsessed with fireplaces, and each room has one. I mean, on a semi-chilly "winter" night in Temecula who wouldn't want to relax in front of a fire place, then chill in a jacuzzi tub and then jump back in front of the fireplace? It's nice that each room is basically an apartment - microwave, fridge, bottle of wine and wine glasses with a dining table in one area, a couch by the fireplace and a bed next to the bathroom area. There's also a cute table on every patio.
The winery part of this place is nice, albeit a bit cookie cutter and not as Mom and Pop as those on the backside. I'm not going to lie though, if I were going to become a member anywhere on the main drag, it'd be South Coast. Four tastings, plus discounts on all purchases, stays at the hotel, the spa and meals.
My biggest complaint is that the restaurant isn't always open. It's one of those ones that opens for a few hours, then shuts down for the next service. It's tough when you're staying at the hotel but don't really want to walk back after you finish your tastings. Or when you need to soak up some of the vino real quick so you can complete your tasting. I'll be back to try the food eventually though. I'm sure it'll just be okay, and probably not worth the wait but it's got to happen eventually.
Wow. Boring review. Maybe I need some wine to get this up to where it needs to be...I'll be back.

I think this was my favorite of the wineries that I had gone to that day. The property is amazingly beautiful and the wine poured very freely! $12 for 5 tastings
The people were very nice and I know there are wines that I HAVE to get here. If you're a fan of some sweet wines, try these!
Spumante Diamante (Sparkling Muscat Canelli)
Spumante Diamante mixed with Merlot Rose
I'm definitely going to buy those and I have to go back to try more. I know I should've tasted more but I was trying to take it a bit easy. Lack of sleep and food mixed with all that wine could've been tragic. haha

Definitely one of the larger wineries in Temecula and gorgeous at that! But of course, beauty comes with a price... I've found this winery to be the most expensive for tastings. The resort has tons of great photo ops to capture the beauty of the place as well as a fairly large tasting room. I'd say just about every weekend, the tasting room is jam packed, so if you find a spot - stick to it! Buying a bottle of wine and enjoying it outside doesn't seem like a bad idea either!
The last time we were there, we were able to taste in their VIP area (for wine club members - even though we weren't part of the club). The area quite a few tables to sit and enjoy the wine as well as two bars to receive your tastings. They served a small selection of appetizers (for purchase) and they didn't seem to mind when we brought out our bread (the sourdough bread of course)!
Aside from being a winery and a great venue for a wedding, this is one of the few wineries in Temecula that actually has rooms for rent (not cheap!) as well as a full restaurant to enjoy a meal between tastings!
I'd have to say that one of the favorites of South Coast is definitely their port... so be sure to check it out!
I decided to stay here at one of the luxurious villas to discover my inner snob and it was worth every damn penny of my $233 greenies. We each got a complimentary 5 tastings + 1 complimentary bottle of wine delivered to our room + complimentary wine tour w/ 5 more tastings and cheese/fruit pairing + discounts at the spa.
Oh oh, that's nothing. Our villa did not share a wall w/ anyone, super spacious, top of the line oak furniture w/ an in-room jacuzzi. Each villa also has a patio area w/ table and chairs located in the heart of the vineyard accessible via these gorgeous french doors. sooo impressed. the public pool, jacuzzi and fitness room was super clean, super nice, and super luxurious. I'm really begining to like my inner snob and it will be dragging me back here again very soon.

Sometimes it only takes one.
One person to set the tone for a stay at a place and sadly, the one person who kicked off our time here with her unhelpful, rude and quite frankly, totally unnecessary behavior, was a young lady by the name of Katie at reception.
I truly have no idea what we did or said to receive the kind of attitude we did, but I am not going to focus on that in this review. Instead, I am noting it, but choosing to acknowledge the attempts the rest of the wonderful staff here made to make a bad situation better. They went out of their way to make us feel appreciated and welcomed and I definitely believe in giving credit where credit is due, so thank you to upper management, spa staff and Katie's colleagues at South Coast. You saved it.
Now let's talk about the place itself. The first time I stayed here a few years back, it was a very new property and was still in the development stages which is how we got such a killer deal on our room. Today however, the facility has bloomed into a lovely space full of lush vines, charm and appeal. The rooms are just as fantastic as I remembered and the nice, deep bathtub with the jets is a true treat. Hell, I could just stay in the bathroom the whole time and be a happy camper it was so cool.
The bed was also super comfy and I loved that the villas come with little fireplaces, plenty of TV channels to choose from and the toiletries they offer are of a very nice quality. On this go around, I also had a chance to check out the pool and jacuzzi, along with a spa treatment and all of those elements were top notch.
The location is also great and the dinner and breakfast at the Resorts restaurant is pretty tasty as well. All in all, I would recommend this place to friends or anyone looking for a neat little getaway without breaking the bank. Also, if you go on their site, check out the stay and spa packages since they change every month and there are most certainly deals to be had.

This place truly is amazing, but with that said...I'll never go here again....at least not during… Read more »
My experience with this place consists entirely of the wine tasting room so if you are looking for reviews of the restaurant and/or the resort, sorry...this rating does not apply.
I believe this place is the "big man on campus" of Temecula wineries as of now. It apparently won best winery of the year for the state of California 2 years in a row (and that includes Napa and Sonoma wineries!) and they very proudly advertise it outside and in the tasting room. Knowing this, I went into this winery knowing it was going to be the corporatised, less-than-quaint super winery much like the Kendall Jackson one or Korbel ones up north. I was not wrong in those assumptions.
With that being said, I couldn't help but be disappointed by this winery both for the wine and the service. I don't really blame our pourer for the large crowds but she did not do a whole lot to make it better. Sure there was a drunk old guy rambling about how women are less than men in the corner and this surely was distracting for anyone but I guess it was probably the worst service of the day. The worst part was waiting in line for about 20 min behind some redneck who apparently was clearing out their stock for the month but they had about 3 employees helping him with an empty register. Thanks guys, I really didn't feel like waiting for this mullet to stock up on his vino just to pay for a tasting but I guess I have no choice...
To add to that, the prices were the most expensive for tastings in the valley without souvenir glasses to alleviate that price. The wines were mostly mediocre at best (probably the worst of the wineries I went to that day) other than the "Black Jack Port" which is what I am guessing won them the medals.
If you do go here, get the Black Jack Port but if you miss this place, it isn't a tragedy.
I have never stayed at this resort so if you looking for a review on the lodging aspect of the place you may want to check out others. My experience of South coast consists of a breakfast/lunch meeting in the restaurant with a few hopefully future co-workers.
I mixed up the time for the meeting and ended up two hours early so, I just decided to wait at the bar. (I figured hitting up the tasting room was probably not the brightest idea prior to meeting a possible future boss) Every staff member who came near me was very friendly and offered to get me anything I needed. To pass the time I started to check some emails and do some web browsing on my Iphone. The cell phone service at this place would make the "Can you hear me now guy" weep uncontrollably, so internet browsing was short lived and a time killing phone call to the parent's was out of the question. I then decided to catch up on my space staring, until the extremely friendly hostess brought me a paper, some water, and a complimentary cup of joe. I really can't stress enough how friendly the staff was here.
So by the time my meeting came around I was feeling a bit jittery due to the two cups of coffee and my low tolerance for caffeine. I met my potential coworkers and calmness came over me. They were all even cooler than I expected them to be. (They probably would not have even cared if I went tasting pre-meeting.) I could definitely sense that it's a perfect fit for future endeavors.
The server was on his game and never even once seemed like he was annoyed that every time he came to take our order I was blabbing away. My chicken salad wrap was great, and going with a side of fruit was a solid choice because it came with a delish yogurt flavored dipping sauce.
All in all, the restaurant in South Coast made my two hours of idle time and meeting a pleasant experience. The winery and resort seem like it would be a bit of a tourist trap, but indeed quite a place. Hopefully, I'll be back soon, but next time picked up in a Hyundai!

Fun tasting scene. Only one large room though which can feel claustrophobic at times. Only winery that is open until 6pm.
The only way this place is getting 4 stars is that they got us tore up from the flo' up.
The wine tasting room is a cluster f* of annoying patrons (me included). So a very cool and amped up sales person talked us into joining the Wine Club and stating that we would get a free wine tasting and be able to enjoy the wines in a separate "Wine Members Only" area. Given that I'm all about receiving preferential treatment we took the offer without a 2nd thought.
Wine Members area is outside with plenty of seating and 2 walk up bars that were never more than 1-2 people deep. Service was fast and friendly. Our bartendress was awesome and definitely generous with her pours....we were definitely generous with our tip too (or so I think anyway). That made our experience here very pleasant. Hard to enjoy red wines when the weather is approaching 100 degrees and the wines are not at the appropriate temperature.
Otherwise they have a wondeful selection of reds and whites and I'm sure just about anybody will find something they like off their 20+ items on the menu.

I was planning a surprise birthday trek to Temecula for my boyfriend and another friend this past Saturday. We had about 15 people in our party and I figure since our group was so large, I would notify the winery and restaurant a few weeks in advance.
RESTAURANT review:
I got all my guests' lunch orders and submitted it two days prior to my party's arrival at 12:30 pm. I figure that would give the staff plenty of notice to prepare for the food and the party. In addition, it would help my party save time from waiting around for our table and food. I expressed clearly that I wanted to have the food ready as soon as possible and will call them in advance so they know we are coming.
On Saturday, I called at 12:10pm advising that I will be arriving early with the party and we would like our order to be ready. I was advised that they were setting up the table and should be ready when we arrive. We arrived at 12:25 pm and were seated right away. It took 1/2 hour to get our food. To me, that is not acceptable. That's normally how long it would take if you were to sit down and order your food. Plus they already had our order and knew we were coming!
No one checked in on us and it took a long time for us to get a dessert menu. We also waited around for what felt like a long time just for coffee/espresso/cappuccinos. By that point, we felt like we spent most of the time waiting around at the restaurant. Some of the guests ended up just walking to the bar to get a few drinks because the wait was so long.
The waitress told us that she was sorry she couldn't deliver the food/drinks faster because she was so busy. Perhaps there should have been a better allocation of resources to accommodate large lunch crowds. For a winery and a restaurant of this size, I would expect that this business is used to handling large crowds.
In addition, the waitress gave us a hard time about having several credit cards to charge. First of all, she got a $60+ tip for doing nothing spectacular for us. She was hardly ever there and she didn't even have to take our orders. If anything, we made life easier for her. A few of my guests are restaurant owners so they understand this business and were upset that she was refusing to charge the order on a few credit cards. According to my friend, it really doesn't take that much time and for restaurants to do that.
FOOD review:
I tried/sampled the following:
Rosemary Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Fresh Fruit Salad - 3 out of 5 stars. Sandwich was okay. Nothing special.
South Coast Shrimp Panino - 1 out of 5 stars. Would not recommend.
Ahi Tuna carpaccio - 3 out of 5 stars
Penne Pasta "Frutti di Mare" - 3 out of 5 stars. Nothing special
Chocolate Dessert -4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Probably the best thing there.
Cheesecake Dessert - 3 out of 5 stars.
Overall, I doubt I will ever come back to the restaurant. I think my other 14 guests will agree.
GENERAL COMMENT ABOUT SOUTH COAST WINERY:
Perhaps I am used to small mom and pop type of wineries as I have traveled to Paseo Robles, Santa Ynez (Santa Barbara), Napa and Chianti wineries, but this place is too much like a hotel and less like a winery. It's felt like a Disneyland in Temecula's Wine Country.

Review for tasting only:
Maybe I'll have to re-rate this when I actually know what the hell I'm doing when wine tasting, but this place is a great stop on the Temecula wine country trail.
Must try tastings:
Sangiovese- dry red with flavors of pepper and blackberry in the background
Blackjack port- their most expensive, but for good reason I guess. I would never fork over the money to buy it, but it counts as just one tasting so why not?
Riesling- not too sweet, not too dry. A good balance in a usually overly sweet wine.
Definitely will be back once I'm in the area again and gambling my troubles away at Pechanga.
Unfortunately, Pechanga didn't give coupons for this specific winery, but one lady was nice enough to let us use one of her "2 for 1" coupons in the booklet you get when you stay there. Thank you!
Need to celebrate something special and don't want to spend more than maybe $150-$200/person but still wanna feel like you took a fancy romantic trip with your significant other? This is THE perfect spot.
Did the "Ultimate All-VIN-clusive Vineyard Getaway" which included a stay in the awesome villa, a couples' massage (normally $105/person by itself and includes a glass of wine afterwards), breakfast in bed (which they delivered to the spa instead since we were leaving early the next morning), UNLIMITED wine tastings, $50 gift card (for next visit), free bottle of wine in the room (ours was the Big Red Table which we really liked at the tasting), free gift (nice etched glass bottle stopper), access to the pool.
That special was only for Sun-Thurs night stay but since Temecula is so close to San Diego, we were able to do Sunday night stay and still make it to work the next morning no problem. We had a whole day of tastings, spa services, pool-side fun, and got to take naps throughout the day and not worry about how much we drank before driving back. Check-in is at 4pm but they let us check in by 2pm and we had full run of the resort all day anyways.
Included Spa services:
- provided slippers and the coziest robes
- hot tub, steam room, sauna, showers
- cucumber water (so delicious), bottled water, teas, and fresh fruit
- complimentary glass of either Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot
- EXCELLENT customer service
- The "classic" massage was a Swedish style massage, not meant to beat the knots out but definitely relaxing
Villa:
- Patio next to some vines, very pretty. I tried some of the grapes that had fallen and they tasted like a delicious dessert wine.
- jacuzzi hot tub, dual head shower, dual sink, robes
- Fireplace, dining room table, patio table, fridge, microwave, tv, internet, etc
- The shampoo, etc smelled soooooooooooooooooo good.
- Clean, comfortable, and spacious, although some of the pillows were what my bf calls "death pillows" because some of the feather stems stick out like needles.
Pool:
- Nicely sized but somehow there weren't enough chairs even though there weren't very many people there
- Small place to purchase drinks and food
- Covered cabanas with service
- Salt-water pool
- Big hot tub in a shaded area
Wine Tasting:
- I think it's one of the few that stay open past 4pm (open til 6pm) but as a result, gets busier and busier throughout the day
- Great pourers, all so nice, and if you're nice back, maybe you'll get some tastings of the reserves
- I like that they give you chocolate for your tasting of the Black Jack port and also give you oyster crackers for between wines
- Wish they would use the aerator for every red but I still enjoyed them anyways
- They had several sparkling wines to choose from (including a Guwertzimener sparkling), which I thought was especially nice given the BLAZING heat of yesterday
- The only Viognier was on the reserves list
- I really enjoyed the Black Jack port but it's port so unless you like them sweet, you might want to pass on it, same with the Muscat Canelli and the Spumante Diamante sparkling wine. The Big Red Table was a very good red and the GVR blend was a very nice white.
The Rose restaurant:
- Excellent service
- Good bread but the butter was a roasted tomato butter I think and only good if you're in the mood for it, which my bf wasn't. I thought it was just okay .
- Calamari and Shrimp appetizer was nice but we preferred marinara instead of the aioli it came with (too mayonnaise-y)
- French onion soup was really good and had lots of cheese :)
- Frutti di mare was okay. They split it for us which was cool but the dish itself was very, very, very salty. Tasted like they melted a whole container of grocery store parmesan for the sauce.
Overall, I LOVED the resort and can't wait for the next special!!! After tips and dinner and all that, we spent less than $200 each which is amazing considering everything we got and the incredible customer service. Based on our dinner experience, though, I would have been fine skipping the restaurant and just feasting all day on the sourdough baked brie we bought from Maurice Carrie's. That bread is sooo worth the $15 and the restaurant wasn't so memorable that I felt like it had to be done again. Maybe it was just what we ordered, though. I think bringing our own picnic basket to enjoy out on the patio for dinner would have been much nicer and definitely cheaper.
Check the specials often!

I'd have to say I am a bit disappointed in their service of handling a large party there at the restaurant. I recently went to a birthday party for one of my best friend's birthday party. We took a limo bus up from San Diego. We had a small set menu of 3 item choices of each category: appetizer, salad, and entree.
We went through 15 bottles of wine before the entree came out. It was the longest lunch I ever had. All the dishes were way over cooked. All the halibut dishes tasted like chicken. The waiter was able to give everyone who order the Halibut dish 50% off.
Our lunch took so long that we weren't able to wine taste afterwards. Lunch was 4 hours and it was back on the bus. I probably wouldn't recommend having a large lunch or dinner party there I don't think their staff can handle it.
HUGE HUGE HUGE FAN!
THE most beautiful winery ive ever been too.. also the staff has been nothing but friendly and the food at the rest. is amazing... AMZINGGGG..
also.. im a wine club member which has its perks such as discount food discount services at the resort.. special wine tasting area.. plus everytime i go i get 5 free tastes for me plus 3 and 3 bottles of wine and a champagne.. for only 60$ every 3 months.. sooooo worth it..
beautiful scenery and vinyards make it look like decoration not a winery..
we also went on the wine tour and i TOTALLLYYY reccomend everybody do this at least once.. for a lil extra you get the tour of the winery (which include tastes straight from the barell mmm and usually a free glass or two or three of unreleased wine.. ) it also includes a sit down pairing which is lovely and fun.. you get to talk about wine and pair different wines with cheeses lil deserts fruit and chocolate.. i loved it so much.. and.. getting tipsy and giggly off wine is a def plus fer sure...
we go here every couple months to get away on a mini vacay..
LOVE SCW!

This is the largest winery in Temecula. They've got a nice spa and pool, and their villas are really cute, very private and romantic.
Their restaurant, Vinyard Rose I believe, has really good food as well.
The tasting room is really big.
We are members of their wine club (this winery has really good perks) and we've enjoyed free events they host for members only (wine tastings with appetizers, etc).
While their wine is pretty good, we would rather be members of the wine club at Mount Palomar. If South Coast didn't have all of the extra perks, we probably wouldnt be members here. Still, its a really fun winery to visit and a must see for all.
Have driven by this winery a million times on the way to Ponte but never stopped. A friend wanted to eat there after a game of golf so we did. The service in the dining room is absolutely impecible, and the food absolutely wonderful. Had never tasted the wine before but let me say I'm a convert. Plan to go back on Monday to do some serious tasting.
This is one of the biggest & most commercialized wineries that Temecula has to offer. I do not think that any of the wines that I had here were really spectacular at all. Honestly, the views, grounds & atmosphere of the whole resort itself is MUCH BETTER than the wines that they had to offer. The tastings here was one of the MORE expensive ones that I've had here @ Temecula...if they didn't have any thing else to offer besides the wine, then I'd give it 1 star for trying...but with everything combined, it's a pretty good experience...the restaurant food I'd have to say is also MUCH better than the wines too. =)
Wine tastings:
Wine Club Members $5 for 5 Tastes & $7.50 for 5 Tastes
Non Club Members: $12 for 5 Tastes & $15 for 5 Tastes (does NOT include the Wine Glass)
Most popular wine: 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
Highest-rated wine: 2006 Pinot Grigio

I like the wines here. They have a really good Ruby Cuvee and some other reds I enjoy.
The atmosphere is more posh than any other winery I've been to in Temecula. It looks clean, new, and trendy. It's really popular for weddings, since they have a huge deck overlooking the vineyard, but for me, it's just too posh. I feel like I'm literally in a resort. I like the older feel ...which is why I prefer Churon to this winery for weddings.
The views are spectacular and the resort is large so you don't feel crowded, just touristy.
But if you want something good to taste, this is one of the best tastings in Temecula for me.

"My list of winery on June 09 visit. I will try to touch on things that other people have not mentioned. However, I am not an experienced wine person, you can take my comments on wine with a grain of salt. Please see my other posts on the following wineries for comparison and reviews:
1) Longshadow Ranch
2) La Cereza
3) Maurice Car'rie
4) South Coast
I am reviewing ROOMS and WINE TASTING.
First off, rooms, they are just beautiful. I would say they are nicer than Caesar's Palace. [Yeah I know, they are apples and oranges, I just don't really like Caesar's Palace] Anyway, they designed in such a way that their patio is facing the grapes and not someone else's patio. You got the view all to yourself and your lovely partner. Everything you need is there. Gifts: free set of wine flights for 2, 2 for 1 wine tasting, etc. Someone mentioned free bottle of wine, we didn't know that, so we didn't take advantage of that.
Wine tasting: We did a White flight and a Red flight. To be honest, nothing particularly special, similar tastes as some other places. Your bet is to go somewhere else for wine.

While Temecula is no Napa, it's still a lovely place. My cousin had his wedding at this winery, and it was beautiful. It's not only a winery, but a resort as well, and it's so huge that when we arrived, we were shuttled from the parking lot to the Rose Arbor where the ceremony was held. It had a stunning view of the vineyard below.
We got to check out the inside of the large villa just steps away, where some relatives were staying. It was bigger than my house!
The dinner reception was held in the grand banquet room, which held about 250 guests. Unfortunately, by the time the ceremony was over, the tasting room was closed, so we didn't get to check it out. However, we were able to enjoy a few of the wines at the reception. The Sauvingnon Blanc was my favorite.
We were really impressed with the food. All the adults enjoyed a Rosemary Marinated Chicken Breast with a Chardonnay Beurre Blanc topped with Wild Mushroom Confit, while the kids had chicken strips and mac 'n' cheese.
I don't know how much a wedding like this cost, but I'm sure it must have cost a pretty penny. It's definitely a wonderful location to have a dream vineyard wedding!

This is a perfect place to start your wine tasting adventure in Temecula -- large tasting room, vineyards, great views. Call ahead for reservations for outdoor seating (it's way too dark inside the restaurant) -- you may want to check and see whether they are having a wedding, because your view might be obstructed by someone's reception.
So many options on the lunch menu. The salads are wonderful here -- portions are filling for your main entree. We had the Alaskan Crab Louis salad with hard boiled egg and avocado ($17) and the seared salmon salad ($16). The dressing on both salads was light and zesty. A bit pricey for salads... but it's not just iceberg lettuce.
We started with the South Coast Merlot Rose -- Chilled, sweet, and light. We then went with the Elevation Sauvignon Blanc. Both were perfect for a summer day lunch.
Although Ponte's restaurant has better options on their menu (creative flavors), South Coast's restaurant is casual and not as pretentious.
I went here about a year ago & I was thinking about going back. I actually have some cooth & havea thing for fine wines. I like to break the monotony of drinking beer all the time. What better place to do it than here.
The rooms at this place are really nice & I wish I could have a room at home like this. They have high ceilings, fireplace and there is a bottle of wine waiting for you when you get there. The views of the rolling vineyards are breathtaking, especially in the morning.
If you want to plan a nice weekend getaway, this is the place for you.
If anyone wants to get lucky, this place will definitely get you there, unless you did like me & take them at the wrong time. Oh well, brownie points paid off.

Tried 5 reserve wines. Chard was without taste. The reds were tannin bombs with little fruit. Friendly staff but I think a bit confused about what dry means. I believe the fellow pouring the wine thought dry meant high in Tannins not "Dry as non sweet"
Just go. Do not read one more review. GO ALREADY! This place is amazing. I suppose that if you are someone who just wants to drink a bunch of wine and move on this is not the place for you. If you want total relaxation with an amazing atmosphere, you should probably go.
The villas are awesome. Huge and comfortable, romantic and sophisticated. Very clean. The grounds are ridiculous. Flowers everywhere, with the vineyard coming right up to every patio. Breathtaking.
I found the tasting to be quite affordable. I have NO CLUE what the reviewer was saying about wine glasses not being included. I didn't have to pay for a glass to drink out of. Is it standard for vineyards to throw in a tourist glass you can take home or something? No thanks. I just needed one to drink out of, and I got one free of charge.
It is true you receive 5 tastes for $12. The pours, however, are big. It may depend on who you go to, but I was astonished at how much wine was poured into my glass each time. We were also given some free tastes because the woman helping us "would feel terrible if [we] left without trying this cab!" And she didn't seem to care if we wanted the reserve wines or the regular, everything was fair game. The hotel gave us each a free flight of three, and then two for one flights of five, so we felt as though we got a great deal!
Also, after trying all of the wines, we asked if we could swap out the complimentary bottle of wine in our room and this was done with no problem.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! You should at this point be walking out the door to go, because you have had more than enough time to grab your purse/wallet and put on your shoes!
The rooms here are amazing. This is such a romantic spot, and the price is a steal. These rooms look like $300 a night rooms, but are half the price. The beds are soft, the bathroom is huge, there's a nice cozy fireplace, and the patio over looks the vines. Our patio over looked the hills and vines. It was so private. The restaurant is okay and the wines don't do anything for me. However, you have to stay here. It's breath taking.
In Temecula for a wedding and stopped by here yesterday. It is the biggest and much more commercialized wineries in Temecla however the grounds are gorgeous, the vines are on the "front lawn" and the staff is gracious and friendly.
After- Syrah, Cabernet, Grenache, Ruby Cuvee, Viognier, Muscat.. I finally had a crush on two tastings-
Th Peak Syrah- notes of lavender, fig, blackberries and French Oak. Tannic(I like my wines tannic and my beers weiss), smooth and frangrant.
I'm not into dessert wines, but the Spumante Diamante is so lovely! It's a sparkling muscat, sparkling takes away from the overwheming sweetness(as I feel for dessert wines) so it's crisp and fruity. I bought a bottle for my mom!
I would recommend stopping by this charming winery.
Ya know how sometimes things just get off to a bad start and never quite recover? Well, this was one of those times...
We arrived early ready and set for a few relaxing and productive days, and, well, thanks to a lovely staff member (ahem, Katie) at the desk who clearly decided she wanted to screw us over the moment she laid eyes on us, it just didn't happen.
The property itself is beautiful and I'd love to say glowing things about the spa we went to great lengths to spend some time at, but considering we were dealing with room drama (despite having made explicit requests months in advance, Katie) and having to schlep clothes from our car (after we were told that was a better place for our luggage than having it held at the desk and put in our rooms... thanks, Katie), it lost some of its luster. The spa was small but had all the amenities you could want for. Everyone wearing swimsuits downstairs at the women's jacuzzi, steam room and dry sauna was a little odd to me being a regular spa-goer, especially considering you're required to lose the suits and don a robe to go upstairs to where the treatment rooms are. The whole in and out of the suit business, not so relaxing. As soon as we finally did start to even remotely unwind (despite the kiddies at the pool below), the rumbles of construction kicked in and continued the rest of the time we were there. Are you kidding me? My massage therapist was great, but having to rush out afterwards to deal with more room drama left me needing another one I didn't have time for even more. Not exactly my idea of a good time for $165 plus $35 tip.
The villas were spacious and nice but I can't even say it was a love fest there. For some reason my fan wouldn't shut off no matter how many times I tried (that is, until about an hour before I checked out when it inexplicably went silent like clockwork), and the whirring sound, instead of lulling me to sleep with white noise, just drove me mad over the fact that I couldn't enjoy any silence and made my insomnia even worse with a side of dry throat. The beautiful jacuzzi bath I thought for sure was going to soak all of my stress away? It ended up flooding half of my room. Yep. Thanks to one loose faucet fixture, my bath floor ended up with more water on it than my tub had in it leaving me scrambling with a mess of wet towels, rugs and clothes and late for a dinner. Good times.
The saltwater pool was great. Mind you, I did manage to take a nice little slip and fall getting out of the jacuzzi that resulted in a bloody 6" scrape across my ass (try explaining that one to your man after a "work trip," I dare you!), but that one's on me... and the bottle of California Champagne we'd put down... and the glass that we managed to break poolside. Ooops.
The restaurant. Pricey. I'd vouch this is a good spot to hit for breakfast and maybe even for lunch if you stay away from the overdressed drenched salads, but dinner, that was hit and miss. The ceviche starter was under seasoned and entirely unremarkable served with some chewy undercooked tortilla chips. My companions' steaks looked good, but my scallops were overcooked, some over salted, others not salted at all, and the sauce drizzled across them was strangely sweet and kinda threw the whole dish off. Dessert looked ok but after the dinner I wasn't really feelin' it.
The two stars? They're for the fabulous staff that went out of their way to try to make it right the remainder of our stay, though unfortunately, there wasn't enough free food or wine in Temecula to wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

I L-O-V-E the spa. We came here recently for a little get away during the week. They had a special deal that if you booked during the month of June you would get an upgrade on the villa. Plus they had other perks that came with our stay. Like $15 off of any spa treatment as long as it was 50 minutes and up, complimentary bottle of wine waiting for your arrival in your room, complimentary tickets for two to the wine tasting room and $10 off on their restaurant.
Thier villas are beautiful. Spacious, private, comfy beds with a separate living area and breakfast nook. Surrounded by grapevines with beautiful views of the grounds. The best part was the huge jacuzzi style bath tub! What girl wouldn't want to indulge in a nice bubble bath along with a mimosa! Take advantage of the spa. If you want there are other services offered like facials and massages manicure and pedicures. But, you if not you can use the dry sauna, wet sauna and the private jacuzzi.
I ended up getting the glycolic facial. Prices are a little pricey but we took advantage of the $15 off offer. Let me just elaborate on the spa. It was amazing and relaxing and the esthetician who worked on me Valentina was amazing. If you are going to visit and decide to go for a facial I highly recommend her. She is this sweet Russian lady who has immaculate skin and is full of knowledge about skin care. We chatted up a bit after my facial regarding products. I was excited to see that they are using Kerstin Florian. A line that as of August 1st will be available at the spa for retail. A tad pricey but so worth it. I told Valentina that my salon carries Kerstin Florian and she wrote down a few things she thought my skin needed. After my amazing facial Valentina asked me if I would like a glass of wine and then left the room. When I walked out there was Valentina outside waiting with a glass of Merlot. I then scooted out to the outdoor balcony and lounged for a while enjoying the cool breeze and almost falling asleep on those soft lounge sofas they have outside.
The wine tasting room here is also nice. Jennifer was the gal who took care of us. I like how she called everyone "hi kids". Super knowledgeable when it came to wines. I just told her what sort of wines I like and she would know just what to get me. Hence we joined the wine club and we will be coming out quarterly to pick up our wines. There are perks to joining the wine club. For example discounts on wine purchases at both the winery in Temecula and the restaurant "South Coast Winery" in Costa Mesa. Free wine tastings at both locations and discounted prices on events they have. So, join!
YES! Come to wine country and stay here. Take advantage of the spa features and get a facial wit Valentina.

This is a beautiful place. Did not stay at the hotel - but visited the wine tasting room and had lunch at the restaurant. This place has done everything right - an inviting and large tasting room with great wines, and a great restaurant with lush outdoor seating with views of the vineyard!
The service was cute and attentive...isn't that what you want at a wine resort restaurant?
Food - very good. (But did I mention the waiter was cute and attentive?)
This place is not to be missed. The entire place is meticulously maintained. The spa rates high, and it's worth the trip to Temecula.
I'm taking a chance in thinking that Temecula is not really close to you...am I right, or am I right??
Surprised my wife on our 2 year anniversary with a stay at South Coast Winery Resort. We have been here before on a different occasion for the wine tasting and I was so impressed with the resort that I decided to stay in the villas this time.
Check-in is at 4pm (you would be lucky if your room was ready before then) but you can arrive early and register your name in case there is a room available.
No worries, since our room wasn't ready, we each had two wine tasting flights. If you do end up going, try the GVR and the Ruby Cuvee.. I still regret not buying any bottles :( Luckily I live close to their restaurant so I can pick them up on short notice..
Once we were through with our flights and realized how much we drank due to the generous pourings, we headed on over to the GrapeSeed Spa for a couples massage. Definitely worth every penny. Post massage we were given a glass of wine and hung out on the veranda. It was nice to slow things down and take in our surroundings. Luckily for us, there was a nice, cool breeze that kept us from overheating.
Once we got to our villa, we noticed that it is more spacious in person than it looks in the pictures. Fireplace would have been nice to use but since it was August, it stayed off. Jacuzzi tub and shower with dual showerheads were awesome. Although we requested a bottle of red for our room, they gave us a white but we didn't really mind. Mix-ups and mistakes happen all the time. I do agree with an earlier post that the TV positioning is a bit awkward. Hopefully they will address and fix this problem when they open up their new resort in the future.
Dinner at Vineyard Rose was good. Ahi Tuna was perfectly seared. I swear, the chef must have thrown it on the grill for 2 seconds on each side. Compliments to the Chef!
If you have some downtime before your villa is ready or some spare time before you depart on your journey back home, I would recommend the wine tour. It's a short 90 minute tour of the resort from grapes to bottle. Very interesting, I might add. To top off the tour, there is a wine and cheese paring. I mean, come on.. Who couldn't use more wine, right?
Overall, my wife and I had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be back in the future. Everyone was very friendly and more than helpful.
I love this place. We got a great deal on the room through Travelzoo which included free tastings and a bottle of wine in the room among other things. The standard room here is a gigantic villa complete with a jacuzzi tub. Our villa had a great view of the valley and the vineyard. Five stars for the villa.
Dinner was awesome. The staff was attentive and the food was delicious. Very good. Four stars for the restaurant.
The bar in the restaurant is beer/wine only, which is unacceptable at a fine dining restaurant. That would mean two stars normally, however an excellent staff makes it three stars.
The tasting room gets very crowded on the weekends, especially later in the afternoon. You can taste all the way until 6pm, which I believe is the latest in the valley. It's a beautiful room and the staff was very generous with their pours and their kindness. Four stars.
Overall I love this place and would recommend it to any friend. Four stars!
