1030 Northpark CtrSorry, I have to counteract Megan's 1-star review. I can understand the frustration with the panini grill being shut down early, but as far as pricing and the small chocolate, you have to realize that seafood is expensive, thus their crab bisques and seafood soups are naturally more expensive.
As far as the small chocolate - do you really need more? I don't know if you were expecting a mega-jumbo size Hershey bar, but for me a miniature is just enough to give me a little bit of sweet without overloading on the calories.
The soup is always hot and fresh and when the panini grill is up and running, those are delicious as well. They do have a great soup and sandwich combo that isn't too pricey.

I dislike this place so much that I.....argggh. I don't know what. I went here one evening - Sunday maybe - a good hour before they closed, to get a sandwich and soup. Oops! Guess again! The panini grill had already been shut down for the day. I cannot stand it when places start shutting down when they are still open. You're open or you're closed - pick one and stick with it. I always think it just means the employees are lazy and want to walk out the door 2 minutes after closing. I'm lazy and want to walk out the door as soon as time is up too, but a pesky little thing called work ethic gets in the way of me actually doing that.
Oh, they were also out of half their soups at this point too, so I settled on some sort of seafood bisque (crab?). I honestly more was excited about the bread and chocolate than the soup UNTIL I SAW IT. A measly little piece of a mediocre baguette and ONE (1) Hershey miniature. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Yep, a Hershey miniature. I couldn't even believe it.
Super lame. I hate (yes, it's a strong word) this place. I walked past it the other day and cursed it. In fact, it was difficult not to use expletives in this review.
I guess the soup was decent, but for something like $12 and crappy service and in the mall? Nooooo thank you. Blah.
A freaking Hershey miniature! Did you get that part?

They say his soup is really good. When I was in New York I never got to try it so I was pretty anxious to see what the fuss was all about. It was on Seinfeld so hmmmm....
First things first....c'mon, this is SOUP. How good can it really be?
When I tried my first time it was the Lobster Bisque and I thought wow, this stuff must be good because lobster ain't cheap. But the price of this "cup" was like close to ten dollars so hmmmm....
It comes with bread, butter, a little chocolate and a piece of fruit.
Before I sank into the soup I had the bread and fruit. I think that apple was really really good. I was like, this is just an apple but it's really really good. Then I tried the soup.
Not bad. Not bad. Chunks of lobster. After a couple of minutes it sunk in, this soup is pretty good.
It was pretty hot when I got it so just watch out for that and let it sit for a bit.
One thing though, it might not make you full even with the bread and fruit. Also, the chocolate was a nice touch. At the time it was like a Godiva but now I think they switched it out to Hershey's.
Another thing is they rotate the soups so that if you're coming down there and expecting a certain flavor they may not have it that day or the next. They just swap things out and they don't say when they'll have the one you might be looking for.
Personally I like the Lobster Bisque but I'm leaning towards the Seafood Bisque as my favorite. For some reason it just tastes better.

After months of teasing Northpark visitors with their 'coming soon' sign, The Soup Man has finally opened. My friends and I rushed out to try the soup that Seinfeld made famous.
First things first, these guys make really good soup. Its thick, full of vegetables and very, very satisfying. All of their soups include a piece of french bread, some fruit, and a chocolate. Those additions answer the question of how soup alone can really be satisfying. They also make paninis and a wide assortment of crepes.
You can either order savory, dessert, or breakfast crepes, and they're pretty good as well. I had the black and white crepe, which was a crepe filled with nutella and fresh bananas. The crepe was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and delicious (though I'm a big nutella fan). They actually transported me back to my days on the streets of France (oddly enough, those memories include a crepe maker who tried to rip me off because I was a stupid American). The service was a little spotty, though it was friendly. It's obvious that the servers are still trying to figure out the most efficient way to get things done. It was almost comical watching them bump into each other as they try to work.
Its clear that The Soup Man retains its New York pricing. Their biggest seller, the Lobster Bisque, costs a whopping $11 for a bowl, though I think the majority of soups can be had for around $8. The addition of the Soup Man to the North Park cements its Food Park as the best and most original in Dallas, and is a welcome addition.
