DO NOT HIRE SOUNDSTORM. That is the best advice I can give to anyone with even a notion of hiring Nelson Llorin as their wedding videographer. He is decent (and saying "decent" is being awfully polite) as a DJ, although he played none of the songs my husband asked Nelson (and wrote down on a list) to play. When it comes to being a videographer, however, he is an absolute NIGHTMARE, he outright SUCKS as a businessman, and as a person he is a TERRIBLE LIAR. We hired him to film, dj, and create the wedding dvd for our November 2005 wedding. His crew seemed to film our wedding ceremony and reception just fine, but what good does that do you when you never get to see the actual video? We patiently waited a few months after the wedding before emailing him about the video. Despite countless emails and voicemails he never responded, not even affording us the courtesy to call back and apologize for the delay. When he eventually did call back he gave us some lame excuse for not having anything to us - which we could tell were all lies. After almost a year and a half of empty promises from Nelson, we ended up suing him in court for breaking our agreement and not giving us our wedding video. Even the judge said it was a "ridiculous" amount of time that passed by. The court awarded us all our money back, including the tips we gave his crew after they were done filming. Immediately after the court hearing, just outside the courtroom, Nelson had the nerve to still offer to complete the video since he said he was "almost done" with it. Feeling like there was nothing more to lose, we decided to give him another chance - surprise, surprise, we never received it. I wasn't the only one by far. I was good friends with his cousin, who had yet to receive her video after waiting more than a year, and knew at least three other girls from my high school who mistakenly hired him and never got their video. Personally, I consider him a THIEF, going around San Diego pitching his HALF-ASSED videography business, taking people's money in advance, and never providing a product. What makes me the most upset is that he was the only one who had the raw footage of our wedding day. I depended on him to record our special day - but in return we got nothing but headaches, added stress, and heartache. For the longest time, when someone asked us about our wedding I couldn't help but start thinking about all the crap we were enduring with Nelson and the video. After the court hearing, we hired two collection agencies to get our money back, yet it's July 2008 and we still have yet to get our money - he's evaded them for an extremely long time. Nelson's only savior has been his kind and compassionate wife, Lorie. She helped us at least get our raw footage from him so we could hire someone else to do the editing and eventually make us a dvd. We finally got our video last month, and I have to tell you that the filming job was pretty SHITTY afterall. Some parts were really shakey, and other portions were filmed rocking right and left (an artistic attempt, I do not know) so it kind of made you feel seasick watching it. Do not rely on the glowing recommendations that a few others have posted on this site about Nelson and Soundstorm. You don't want to experience the same pain we endured with them, especially when it's for your wedding. Email me if you have experienced the same BULLSHIT we did with Nelson and want to sue him too. I'll gladly help your cause by providing advice based on what we learned.

Back in college, I worked with Nelson and Soundstorm for several years on an annual student production called Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN). These ain't you're ordinary skits in the quad kinda shows, they were full on Broadway caliber extravaganzas. You had story lines, singing and dancing, the whole shebang. Anyway, back to Nelson. We hired him every year to do our sound and lighting, and majority of our stage management. The man knows his shit. He and his staff are so professional, yet personable at the same time. He's super organized, and he's always prepared to work, even on our hectic schedule. What's also great about him is that he was very familiar with our theater (Carpenter Performing Arts Center, CSULB) and we knew we could count on him to smooth out our technical aspects of the show.
What inspired me to write about Nelson after all these years is that I ran into him at a wedding recently. I was actually part of the wedding, and when I saw him, he was organizing the sound and lighting, as well as overall event planning. I was like, Nelson does weddings too? Sweet! I hadn't seen him in about six years, but he still remembered me, so I thought that was pretty cool. And his wedding coordinator was awesome as well. She was really patient with us (we're a rowdy bunch) and she got us to look good on the day of. Soundstorm's part in the ceremony and the reception were key, and everything went as smooth as silk.
Bonus, Nelson played the jamz during our meal. I'm talkin about old school slow jamz to get your table singing as you reminisce about puppy love and high school crushes. Maybe it's just me, but Hi Five, Mint Condition, Jodeci, and New Edition are more than welcome at my table. But if that's not your cup of tea, no worries, Nelson will always cater to your needs.

I hired Soundstorm for my sound, lighting and event coordination during my wedding because of positive experiences I had working with Nelson in the past during stage productions and outdoor events. They did a fantastic job and we could not have had the beautiful wedding we did without them. Liza, our ceremony and reception coordinator, was exceptional. I am an anal event planner and she exceeded my expectations. She was very detail-oriented and proactive about getting things done and making sure everything was to our satisfaction.
Nelson was so great in helping us achieve the atmosphere we wanted during our reception. We really wanted a gobo light monogram, a lighting upgrade that unfortunately was out of our budget. Nelson came up with a way for us to have a monogram without any additional cost. It really completed the look of our reception. And when I set parameters for the music to be played, he followed them to a T!
Soundstorm was the reasons things ran as smooth as they did at The Prado, a venue that does not provide you with a day-of coordinator. We received so much great feedback from our guests about how well-run our wedding was and I know so much of it is due to the great work of Nelson and his team.
For all you DIY brides/grooms, it is entirely possible to plan a wedding on your own, but do yourself a favor - give yourself the chance to just enjoy your special day and let the professionals handle all your coordination. If you want it all done right, give Soundstorm a call!
We are very thankful and grateful for the services and attention of Soundstorm Entertainment Productions for our wedding. We had a beautiful and memorable celebration and so much is attributed to the creative talent, genuine care and hard work of Nelson Llorin.
Our guests have overwhelmingly shared how much fun they had - from being blown away with an original concert-style grand entrance that Nelson designed to dancing the night away to a great mix of music that Nelson played - our guests complimented how uniquely different our wedding was and we owe much of this to Nelson! My husband and I have been to enough weddings to know that the MC, DJ and atmosphere can either make or break the event...and in our case, all these combined services provided by Soundstorm truly MADE our wedding!
Nelson listened to our goals for our wedding and he designed a breath-taking setting while managing an excellent staff that delivered a well-organized and seamless event. The fun and exciting ambiance created by the outstanding audio-visual effects along with the customized lighting treatment was much more than we had expected and this was truly imprinted in the minds of our guests.
In addition, our parents and entourage commented on how friendly, attentive and caring he and his staff were and with that, we are thankful for Soundstorm's professionalism and enthusiasm towards our wedding party and guests. I knew we were in excellent hands; so on the day of the wedding, I (an event planner myself) was able to "let go" of all the details and truly enjoy myself as a happy bride!
We are extremely satisfied with the level of care, attention and expertise Nelson and his staff provided! We are happy that we chose Soundstorm for our wedding event design, reception coordination and DJ/MC services. We highly recommend this outstanding audio-visual team to take care of you and your needs!
Nelson and company (not Naughty Company which was their old DJ group name) did a great job for our wedding! We had them DJ and MC at our wedding and also make a video slide show montage for us. If you've ever been to a wedding and see a little slide show of the couple together and stuff like that, then you haven't seen nothing yet! Nelson put together what almost seemed like a movie. He told each of our stories, stories with our family and friends, and then our story together. After watching the montage, literally half the room was crying! Even some guys! As for the other half, well, they're dead inside. =) But seriously, they did a great job. If I could, I'd put a link to it so you guys could watch it and you can cry! Haha!
The only reason I would not give them 5 stars is because they were a little late in getting the copy of it to me on time. But then again, they did make a nice design on the cover of the DVD for me. Also, if you're into businesses that give you good personal attention, then you'll definitely like Soundstorm. Nelson was awesome to deal with! Very easy going and will give you good suggestions if you just tell him what you're looking for. He also works with his wife, Lorie, and she probably one of the nicest girls you'd meet.
Besides montages, they also do wedding videos (which I didn't get) and Wedding Party intros. I personally didn't get the intro, but I've seen a few that he's done and they are awesome! Some of the intros that I've seen were Star Wars, Matrix, and my favorite, Monday Night Football. With these intros, think MTV movie awards skits, but the wedding party is in them.
Anyway, if you're planning a wedding and want something fun and new, give Soundstorm a call! They might be a little more expensive than some of the other quotes you might get, but like they say, "you get what you pay for!" And, with your once-in-a-lifetime occasion, I'm sure you want the best!
UPDATE: Well, I found a way to put it on my Myspace page, so if you'd like to check it out, go for it! The link is on my homepage.

we had the worst experience w/ nelson llorin @ soundstorm entertainment productions! our wedding was 08/06/05 and we still have not received our wedding dvd. nelson and his crew was our dj & videographer at our wedding. his crew was an hour late at my house to videotape us getting ready...so we have no footage of all the girls getting ready. they were supposed to get the guys getting ready and he didn't record that either. he never returns phone calls or emails. the worst videographer and dj i have ever known. he gave us our 1hr wedding video over a year later...when we watched it, we noticed he cut out our cocktail hour (which we were not at), our flower girl and ring bearer walking down the aisle, amongst a lot of other things. he cut short the father daughter dance, mother son dance, and the bride and groom's first dance. he replaced our songs we wanted played in the video w/ his own that he picked. when we went to him he did not apologize at all...just said he would fix it w/ in 2 wks. well, it is now 2007 and he has still not sent us our video. i have reported him to the bbb and we are in the process of speaking w/ a lawyer friend of ours. a very big disappointment to our "special day"
