Sound Museum is a Boston based group that owns several rehearsal spaces for fledgling bands around town.  This includes a "no frills" complex in Allston.

They aren't kidding about no frills.  The building's interior would make a great set for a Fincher film.  It's dark and dank and more closely resembles a music dungeon than a wellspring for harmonious creativity.  The bathroom is filthy, smells like puke, and contains the dirtiest toilet in Boston.  The rehearsal rooms are small and not sound proofed well enough to block the sound from the band in the next room.

Only through torture and hardship can great things emerge, right?  What incentive might there be for a group with Guitar hero fueled aspirations to become nothing less than the greatest band of all time if entry level rehearsal spaces had nice lighting, clean bathrooms, and masseuses?  I guess this is how it goes until a band can put together enough scratch and reputation for better digs.  Until then, slum it and love every minute of it.
