A potentially cool little coffee shop but the tables and chairs are small and rickety. I don't like my laptop to fall. A few more tables that were slightly bigger and I'd be a fan. But it is next door to Beth's books and a potentially cool litle place.
if only I didn't have to occasionally work.
Eh...So at first when I went in I liked it. But the barista who was wearing goggles had...attitude. The place where you pour sugar in your coffee was dirty..I mean dirrrrty and the barista started bitching at the woman I was with when she was trying to be friendly. I understood his point on the argument, but not his approach of attack. There is a cute little nook to sit in built into the wall. The vegan sandwich comes with Cheetoes (?).
I had previously questioned the level of diligence and dedication to craft in the employees at this establishment. I feel it only fair to note that the offending parties seem no longer to work here, and that the new people are great. The complainer in me feels it necessary to add that their chai really sucks, though.

Nice place to cool off in this area. Very laid back artist community in the Marigny area of New Orleans. Good coffee and various assortment of pastries.
A caveat: I only order drip coffee at coffeeshops, for three reasons--it's cheap, it's easier to compare place to place, and if a place doesn't make fancy drinks well they'll probably do an acceptable job with the coffee.
So, Sound Cafe has a great atmosphere, is clean (especially for New Orleans), and has free wireless and plenty of space to work. But, their coffee is just okay. If you're fine with that, or if you want try something else, go ahead. But I wouldn't make them your primary supplier.
