So I came here for brunch because

a) it's down the street from my apt.

b) because I thought it was brunch with unlimited mimosas/bloody marys for 12.95

Unfortunately, it turned out to be $13.95, and kind of not completely worth it. I liked my smoked salmon plate-- the 'italian' bread that it came with turned out to be shockingly tasty with cream cheese and all the trimmings. However, my boyfriend ordered a basic frittata that was just not especially good. Knowing that down on Union we can get a much better meal for just a buck more at Scottodito sort of took the fun out of it.

Overall, not bad, but just not good.

Can't beat the $11.95 brunch with unlimited mimosas, champagne or bloody marys (maries?). Also unlimited pound cake! I think my friends actually snuck some in their bags on the way out.

I got the eggs benedict, which was delicious. The rest of the menu looked amazing, too. I picked at my friend's enormous fluffy french toast with fruit and that was super yummy as well.

This place gets unbelievably packed - we were a big group, and half of us were running on Asian time, so it took maybe an hour and a half for our entire party to get together, then another 30 minutes to an hour for us to be seated. But the staff was nice enough to let us get started on our mimosas while waiting for a table, and that kept us happy.

Definitely a great deal.

Dinner is good here, but what I normally come for is the all you can drink Mimosa brunches! It is not the best Italian food, but is consistent.

The Brunch is great as said and they are far from stingy with the free mimosas!

Poor service and decent food.

I think I would have liked this place if the waiter hadn't told me that they offered real maple syrup for the french toast. I asked before I ordered if i could get Real Maple Syrup with my meal because I don't enjoy fake syrup. if the waiter had simply conveyed that they only have imitation syrup or they only have one kind I would have been more than happy to order an egg-based meal. But the waiter told me that yes, they have Real Maple Syrup.

Needless to say, my meal arrived with imitation syrup and I didn't have time to send it back to the kitchen because I had to catch a bus on Manhattan.

If you don't have Maple Syrup, tell me and I'll order something else! Don't tell me you have it if you don't know what it is! If you serve pancakes, waffles or french toast you should know what maple syrup is! It's made from boiled sap from sugar maple trees, dumba$$!

Terrible service.

Brunch was just lovely on a Sunday afternoon.  Great food, nice portions, unlimited mimosas/bloody marys...great service.  We stayed for over an hour, no rush.  Nice music/atmosphere, friendly waiters.  Prices very reasonable.  Nice crowd of people, obviously a regular place for lots of locals-  Located in the heart of Park Slope so great place to go for a break while shopping around....looking forward to going back.

My old Park Slope staple...Sotta Voce was THE brunch place when I lived there.  The french toast is perfectly soft and sweet and melts in your mouth.  Eggs saporite are also fabulous, as is the penne with pesto.  Brunch deal is amazing: $12.00 for unlimited mimosas/champagne or bloody marys and a dish.  The meal starts with a wonderful basket of bread and pound cake and jam.  The pound cake is so good I usually ask for seconds and thirds and end up being almost too full to eat my meal.  Almost...but not quite.  Nothing can ever stop me from polishing off that french toast.

Dinner is also great. I recommend the caponata appetizer and pretty much anything from the pasta and meat menu.  Ambience is cute; usually full of employees from methodist hospital or young professionals from the area.  In the summer you can dine al fresco and watch baby strollers and dogs walk by.

Overall a wonderful park slope restaurant!

My girlfriend and I saw this restaurant on the way to Applewood the other day, and planned to give it a try the very next day after viewing the menu.

We ordered the carpaccio, where the beef was sliced too thick, and the parmesan scarce. Our main entree was a pasta dish with fusilli, smoked salmon, and a pink sauce. It was decent, but the salmon tasted a little funky.

We also ordered the apple pie, which was absolutely horrible. Our waiter came by and asked if we liked it, and we had to tell her that it wasn't edible, and that it didn't taste like any apple pie we have ever tried. She said it was Italian style whatever that is. Her service cannot be faulted though, since she took away the pie and came back with a traditional American style apple pie that they just happened to have that day.

I hate to admit it, but on the way home from the subway I had to hightail it to the apartment since the food was not agreeing with me.

This restaurant would have earned a 1 star rating, but it earned 2 stars because the waitress was as helpful as she could be.

Maybe this place should stick to brunch only...?

Bread and Oil:  The bread was dry and inedible on its own.  The dipping oil was OK - fairly well spiced and definitely unusual as it had tomato sauce in it.

Crostini Appetizer:  I was not impressed with any of the four crostinis, each bearing different toppings.  The roasted pepper and mushroom topping was probably the best, but not something I'd want to get again.

"Special" Portobello stuffed Ravioli: I ordered the special of the night, which was supposed to be portobello stuffed ravioli in tomato sauce.  When the order arrived, I wondered if I'd been confused and somehow misunderstood what the waitress told me.  I ended up with spinach stuffed ravioli in tomato sauce sprinkled with ricotta cheese.  It was very boring and definitely not something I'd typically order.  It turns out that the kitchen was out of the special and didn't bother to inform our waitress (who was therefore unable to inform us).

Pollo Portobello:  This was Justin's order.  It was supposed to be chicken with a creamy sauce and portobello mushrooms.  To me, the sauce tasted sweeter than it ought to and waxy.  The mushrooms were definitely not portobello - they were way too small and light in color.  Also, the dish was supposed to be served with garlic mashed potatoes.  When the plate arrived, the side was fried potatoes... We asked the waitress about this and she said they were out of garlic mashed potatoes and she apologized for not telling us.

Chocolate desert:  To make up for the flubs on their part, they gave us a free Chocolate Soufflé.  The  cake was served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and (I believe) raspberry coulis.  It was pretty tasty.  The cake was a bit dry, but combining it with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream made for a satisfying flavor combination.

Despite our unfortunate dining experience, we found the atmosphere to be cozy and the wait staff nice, if not well-informed.

I went here with my girlfriend this past Saturday evening to have a quite evening and a meal. We had read reviews saying that the service was good and it was tastey food. We arrived and were sat immediately. Great service while we were there. Decent prices on the wines as well. Unfortunately the food is not good. I ordered the Ravioli special with mushrooms and my GF ordered a rosemary rubbed chicken type dish. There was no flavor at all to either dish. I love food, I really do and this food should have been left back in the kitchem, not worth the effort to lift the fork and put in your mouth. Same deal with the chicken. Tasteless. We had a bottle of sparkling water, one glass of wine and two main courses and the bill came to about 60 bucks. Very over priced in my mind, especially considering the quality of the food. I would not reccomend anyone go to this place unless you are interested in bland food. Save your money, go to Al Di La, Mourtarde or any of the other great resturants in our hood.

Had the Fettucini Gimberti or something like that.  It was pretty good--but not a big enough portion.  The chocolate souffle was excellent and huge.   Our waiter was absolutely perfect.   The sauvignon blanc was very tasty.   I liked the outdoor seating.  I'm not a big fan of having the bathroom right off the dining floor.  I think that could've been designed better.   I dont feel like seeing guys coming out zippiing their flies while I'm eating. . .   I'll come back when in the area.  Prices are reasonable.  One star was deducted for me still being hungry and having to get dessert.  If the next thing I try is a bigger portion. . my rating will go up accordingly.
Somebody wrote something about the crowd being pretentious--I didn't see that at all.

Okay, this has to be the worst place I have eaten at in a long time.

We stopped in for dinner several months back and it seemed passable. We went back for brunch/lunch yesterday and it was truly atrocious. Horrible!

The service was appalling. The girl shoved two menus as us (without a word), return 10 minutes later (her only statement was: "what do you want") and never returned again. It took nearly a half an hour for our food to come, and when it arrived it was nearly inedible. We had to ask twice for the bill.

The place was also in chaos - food on the floor, etc.

Yikes! We will NOT be back and recommend you stay away as well. There are plenty of other places to eat in the Slope.

Brunch with unlimited (albeit very weak) mimosas or bellinis is pretty hard not to enjoy.

Came here on a busy Sunday morning and was seated immediately (outside!). Getting our food however, took 30 minutes. They're lucky the bread basket is so yummy.

Meals were standard - got some sort of omelet which was good. The home fries that came with it were excellent.

Nothing amazing, but a very solid brunch.

All you can drink Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's! They also give you neverending pound cake and bread!

That's pretty much the best part of the brunch here, but combined with the decor, and ambiance, this place is great for Sunday brunch! But there may be a bit of a wait.

The entree's as well, all some sort of benedict breakfast was good too, maybe not the best I've had, but great paired with a bloody mary! haha! And the pound cake is awesome too! =)  I would suggest eating lots of bread cause the entree itself is kind of minimal.... well that is if you're a pig like me! Hah!

So if you're looking for a brunch spot in Parkslope, I say at least try it out!

Prices are also reasonable, than compared to brunch in Manhattan, I think it was about $15 per head, not bad.

Been here a few times for brunch.

I love that they have unlimited mimosas, champagne, etc etc.
However their brunch menu is really just okay. Its not bad nor great.

The food I've order so far at brunch lacks flavor and BAM effect.
Its more suited to those park slope people who like the more blander flavor and weight/diet conscious.  Most of the dishes don't have meat either...

All in all its okay. I would go back again, and see if there is anything else worth getting. The price is for brunch is very reasonable though.  $12 per person?

I also went there for dinner once. Bill was like a $120. The food at night is definitely better than brunch.

Service is usually very good. They are attentive and helpful. Parking is an hour unless you go on Sundays. Trains near the F line.

oh almost forgot. Yes the unlimited pound cake and bread is great! I would get the pound cake though. Coffee is good too!

Another mediocre eatery heavy on the pretensiousness and light on the quality. To make matters worse, every time I pass by (and I pass by a lot), I see the snottiest nuevo-Park Slope types imaginable inside here laughing exaggeratedly in hopes that others nuevo-Park Slope types are watching them.

In the fair weather, the comedy spills outside onto the glamorous 'Sidewalk Patio.'  As my friend perfectly summed up as we passed by one summer night, sweeping his hand dismissively: "'This is all you see now.  Yuppies eatin' outside on the sidewalk."

"I think we found our new favorite brunch place."

We were looking for a nice new place to try for brunch, and after being turned down at Paninoteca 275 in Carroll Gardens (the cook was missing?), we decided to give Sotto Voce a try.

As mentioned in other reviews, for around $13 you get unlimited mimosas or bloody marys (and they really do keep up with it! never once was my glass empty), as well as unlimited coffee/tea (but I'll take the mimosas), your entree, and - dare I say it - unlimited POUND CAKE.

Yeah, pound cake with breakfast always wins.  Really good pounds cake, too.

They have your standard options for both breakfast and lunch.  I had the standard farm fresh eggs + bacon which were what you'd expect.  Eva had eggs benedict, which she said were really good.  And Kait had penne pomodoro, which she licked clean.  The food was good, pretty standard but obviously better than your $8 greasy diner breakfast.

Service was great and really attentive and friendly.  3 of us came around 1pm on Sunday and didn't wait more than 20 minutes.

Win.

I thought the brunch at $12.95 was a great deal (hello, unlimited mimosas/bloody mary/poundcake) but for the quality of the food, I think I'll retract my previous thought. Friend had the egg salmone (the usual poached egg + smoked salmon pairing) and it was not bad. I had something I forgot the name of but was disappointed to discover that it was just a mushroom+pepper+onion flavorless omelette. meals come with potatoes but they were flimsily cut and BURNT and heavy (very heavy) on the garlic..big chunks of garlic...

bloody mary tasted like it was made with cocktail sauce+water+ice...mimosas were good..poundcake was good..but those aren't the things that really count now, do they? I've never had even a mediocre brunch experience until I came here. The only reason why I skipped on Mirace Grill (can't go wrong with southwestern brunch!) was because they didn't offer the unlimited drinks.

Screw it. I can survive brunch without them. Will be looking for a new place or back to MG.

My friend and I found Sotto Voce just wandering around Park Slope and were pretty pleased with what we got.  Though I didn't try the pound cake, my friend said it wasn't great.  I love the unlimited drink brunch though my bloody mary was so strong I couldn't even finish my glass!  Some people may not complain about this, but it was just too much vodka.  I had the eggs Benedict with ham and portobello mushroom.  It was solid - not fantastic but definitely not bad either.  My friends spinach omelet looked tasty and filled with spinach.  The service was a bit slow, but otherwise very good.

I'm really only giving it two stars because everyone else that I went with hated their food.  Mine was actually OK.

So, we went here for brunch.  Brunch is supposed to include unlimited pound cake.  There were out of pound cake.  About 5 items on the brunch menu included salmon.  They were also out of salmon...  Even though someone came in about an hour after us and managed to get salmon...?

Another reason we went was because brunch included unlimited mimosas.  And I can see why they're unlimited.  They suck.

I would steer clear of the brunch here...

Great find!  Honestly, my only requirements were that the food be at least decent, and there be an unlimited mimosas/champagne type of dealy.

As it turns out---the food was excellent, the service was friendly, and they also include unlimited pound cake. :) :)

All of this for only $11.95!!

I didn't expect to find anything like this in Brooklyn, and thought I'd be headed out to the city for brunch yet again.  I'll definitely be back; hell I'd go again today if I didn't have a few errands to run!

I made reservations, but the weather was pretty terrible yesterday morning, so we wouldn't have had to wait anyway.  It's a cute little date spot, and I'd recommend it for the menu alone. The unlimited mimosas/champagne/bloody mary brunch dealy is just an excellent added bonus.

The seating arrangements are quite 'cozy', and you might find yourself a bit closer to other patrons than you'd like to be, but it's not so bad.

My girl Koku K. invited me here for brunch. I live in Washington, DC and we don't have any unlimited drink brunch options that are this cheap. Sotto Voce is in Park Slope and is pretty small. They really get the brunch concept has they have breakfast brunch classics as well as pasta dishes. I had the french toast that is made using a very thick Challa bread and it was very good. Just about everyone in our group cleaned their plates.

Drinks included in your meal are mimoas, sparkling wine and bloody Mary's. After having one drink your meal is worth it.

Arriving at JFK from London on a rainy Friday night, I got stranded with no cell phone or U.S. currency when the last connecting flight to North Carolina was canceled. I was booked on a flight the next afternoon and left to fend for myself for 18 hours in the city. A friend in Park Slope left me the key to her place, and after trudging up 4th St. in the rain with a bunch of luggage, I crashed for the night.

The next morning, taking pity on my jet lag and ignorance of the neighborhood, my friend's housemate invited me to breakfast and I gratefully accepted. He suggested Sotto Voce, since it was right down the street and was known to have great brunch.

We arrived just before they were ready to open, but they gave us a table anyway, a small one inside but just next to the patio. Friday night's rain had gone and left a cool gray sky, so the outside walls were opened wide.

After the night I'd had, I couldn't pass up a bottomless mimosa when our friendly*, attractive waiter offered it, but I had a more difficult time choosing what to eat, since everything on the menu sounded too delicious to be so reasonably priced. I finally settled on eggs florentine and was quite pleased with my decision.

For awhile we were the only people in the restaurant, and I can't think of a more relaxing way to have spent a Saturday morning than brunching lazily in Brooklyn. It was the perfect intermission in what became perhaps the longest two days of my life when my second flight was delayed another 7 hours.

I've pledged to never again set foot in JFK, but I guarantee I'll be back to Sotto Voce some day.

*When I say friendly, I mean it. He even split the check for us at the end of the meal without the slightest hint of a dirty look.

This place was alright.
It reminded myself and my friend of European restaurants - the liveliness, the sounds of glasses clinking, the outdoor eating area...
The food came out late (yes, it was crowded, but it was taking too long for our order to be served, PLUS the waiter almost set down the wrong plates in front of us--fortunately we didn't start eating because it wasn't our order!)
Bottomless mimosas and bloody marys..MMMmmm...
Yummy bread and pound cake.
I would say that the food is good, but nothing spectacular.

Hell no, no way, no how, never again. Maybe when the chef is new, and/or they replace their plate heaters and/or stove.

Yes, the ambiance, the service, and the simple wines are good. But, the food took far too long to get out and once it arrived all FIVE plates were cold. It was a total disaster. Not only were we hungry after the prolonged wait (following the AL DENTE, tasteless special ravioli)*, but we were so hungry that it seemed pointless to return some of the cold plates. I finally convinced our group to give up on two they were eating, but that proved annoying because the rest had to wait on the two. (sigh)*

When I turned around I witnessed two well bosomed women enduring the same painful situation; they too had to reheat their food after waiting on it! I commented on my anticipated poor review, and one politely retorted- "oh, but the food is great!" Yeah, ok, what god damn use is that when the entire moment is ruined?

When I pay to eat I pay to receive the service I would offer my guests at home. That means fresh, COOKED food at the RIGHT temperature. There should be no excuses, no need to return food back, and certainly no prolonged waiting.

you either get it right, or you get angry customers who wished they went elsewhere. period!

PS good job on the dessert. at least you got one thing right.

Here is the deal with this place:

1. its not as popular as other brunch spots in Park Slope, so you can probably get in.
2. its 11.95 for brunch and UNLIMITED MIMOSA OR BLOODY MARY.
3. the food is fine, though certainly not great.
4. there is one bathroom, so there is often a line.

There you have it.  This place is a solid plan B to the other tastier choices in the slope.  And lets be real, plan B can save your ass, especially in the freezing cold of winter.

Maybe I should have went for brunch...

I had the penne alla vodka. The parmesan cheese sprinkled on top was hard?!? for some reason, and the penne was tasteless. I was unimpressed.

My boyfriend had an order of fettechini alfredo and an order of chicken parm (without the spaghetti). The chicken was tasty. But again, the pasta was tasteless.

I was confused as to which one of the four people that kept walking by and "helping" us was our actual server (which makes it hard to tip).

The complimentary glass of wine at the end of the meal was nice, but I felt it was as though the staff knew I wasn't enjoying my meal.

For dessert, tiramisu... actually delicious. REALLY delicious. We gobbled it down in a matter of seconds.

Would I go back, definitely not.

I have eaten here a couple of times, but I can't really explain why I've gone back. The food is mediocre at best, and the service has never been topnotch either. Brooklyn has plenty of great Italian restaurants (in Park Slope and elsewhere), and I would certainly recommend going else where for your pasta needs.

not bad... not the best, but definitely not bad.

mourning the loss of one of my favoritest brunch spots (2nd Street Cafe... ::sigh:: oh how i will miss their fruit butter), i decided to finally try sotto voce.  my observations:

1) they've raised their prix fixe price by a buck, so it's now $12.95.  still within reason, i think, unlike sette which is $16!  way too much for brunch.
2) the tables are crammed in a little too tightly.  i was amazed the waitstaff didn't knock anything off our table as they squeezed by to reach other tables.
3) our waitress was very nice, and didn't rush us out the door despite the fact that it was a busy time of day, and we didn't have any problems getting refills on our coffee which is very important to me.
4) our food -- the eggs salmone (eggs benedict but with lox) and french toast -- was decent... definitely tasty, but not necessarily memorable.

i might go back if i feel i've OD'd on my other favorites, but i can't say it's at the top of my list.

Totally sub-par. Service was weak and abrasive and food was really...just...eh. The homefries were downright disgusting. Only reason this gets 2 stars is because brunch has bottomless bloody marys or mimosas with the meal for about $12. But, really. The bloody mary refills were warm. Not room temp. Warm. And ice wasn't offered- we had to ask. So, brunch deal sounds good, but really isn't worth it.

This is a great place for a date!  Romantic lighting, great food, good portions and a great selection.  The waitress was funny just adding to an already awesome night.  BEWARE: It's small!  You may get stuck waiting a bit but sitting at the bar isn't terribly painful.  Enjoy!

Went for brunch this weekend - my roommate and I were lured in by the unlimited brunch cocktails that came along with your brunch (all for $11.95!).  Great selection of food, but the food itself was pretty flavorless and unimpressive.  Even worse, the "unlimited" mimosas were so watered down that after having 4 glasses each, we still didn't even have a buzz.

Cute, cozy Italian restaurant in Park Slope has a pleasant atmosphere and decent food. I wasn't particularly blown away by any aspect of the restaurant, but would recommend it for an inexpensive meal.

Pretty mediocre.  It was the first warm evening of spring so we got to sit outside....that was nice.  The food will not be remembered.  On the plus side, it's reasonably priced.

Hi Gang, Gina and I found ourselves in Brooklyn for Brunch and needed dog friendly, of course, Gina being a dog and all;and we were lucky to find Sotto Voce. The endless bloody mary's and the great staff; they made sure all the dogs had water as well as our bloody mary's and a charming menu that allowed Carol to have eggs  and me to have grilled vegetables; Both nicely done and a helpful " How about a cappachino?" A good deal; we're from Manhattan, and worth a trip back for calamari; our real passion!!!

Always had a great pasta dish & wine here.  On cold nights it cozy & has a great wine list.

They have a great brunch deal $12 with unlimited mimosas, bloody marys, or champagne. I never have trouble getting my glass refilled. The dishes are classic, nothing surprising, but still good. The room is open, and bright.

I've only had dinner here, but I thought it was good. I have an issue with anywhere that serves mashed potatoes with an Italian dish, this is NYC, give us a pasta, a risotto, etc.! Otherwise I was happy. I had the chicken francaise and it was good. What I really enjoyed, and what I'll keep coming back for, is their dipping oil. Yum!
