This is a great place for a satisfying italian dinner.  I've come here a few times and every time I not only enjoy the atmosphere - lots of cozy lights and small touches that make the place look loved, I enjoy the food.

Tonight we started with the bruschetta - let me tell you theirs is good.  Today we had the classic with tomato, herbs and olive oil, but we've also had the mushroom.  Both are excellent!

For an entree tonight I had one of the fresh specials which was fettucine with lobster tail.  The taste was great, my only complaint was trying to get the meat out of the lobster tail without making a mess was a little difficult.

What I like about this place is that it's not what I grew up thinking italian food tastes like.  The sauce is minimal - it is used to compliment the pasta - not overpower it, and the dishes are simple but you can taste every ingredient that goes into it.  It's not fancy, it's not overdone, it's just really satisfying italian food.  For me it's a place where i can go when I need a comfort meal.

Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant.  The place was nearly empty, but our food still took nearly an hour.  The food was a strange mix of flavors that didn't work and were mostly covered by the intense saltiness of everything.  And what really tipped things over the edge is how ludicrously overpriced the whole thing was.  I will pay these prices for quality, but for amateur food and service I think not!  Save yourself the trouble of trying this one and make pasta at home instead.

Italian food out of the can?  It tasted like it.

The Setting:
* It's small and barely noticeable from the outside. I was surprised of how much bigger it looked on the inside. Art for sale is hung on the walls and the environment has a cafe style to it.
* This place is not romantic in my opinion: it wasn't cozy and our table was wobbly.
* At first an upbeat trip-hop album was playing, and then later an old man started playing the accordion.
* The place was nearly empty, obviously for a reason: this place sucks big meatballs.

The Food:
* The bread was obviously not freshly cooked and seemed like it was purchased from Costco a month ago.
* The eggplant appetizer was drowning in butter, and it also used the same old Costco bread.
* The fettuccini, with red sauce, was wrapped in a foil ball on a plate. Not classy at all and not rich enough for "home-style cooking."
* The prosciutto pizza was sad. It was more like oily cheese pizza.

The food was buffet style quality and highly disappointing in both taste and presentation. This was $50, but the experience wasn't worth half that amount.  The service was pleasant, but it didn't make up for the mastodonic shortcomings.  This was the worst Italian food experience I have ever had.

Great atmosphere and very nice service can be found here.  My girlfriend and I decided to go to Sorrentino after walking around at the top of Queen Anne hill.  Sorrentino looks like a really nice place when you look in the door.  We ended up having a romantic dinner here.  It was a bit dark and made the evening more relaxed.  The waitress was very helpful in navigating the menu.  My girlfriend ordered a pizza and I ordered the seafood lasagna.  The seafood lasagna was ok and bit light.  I thought the pizza was delicious.  When we were about to leave one of the waitresses gave us a taste of filo dough dessert that had just come out of the oven.  It was rich and super yummy.  I can tell they love their food here and want to share.  Good people, good service, and good food.  We will definitely be back.

Pretty bad food, especially considering the owner is supposed to be Italian! Service wasn't bad though.

I only knew this as a place "that looks nice inside." The atmosphere drew me in, the food will keep me coming back.

Perfect portions (although the steak was surprisingly huge!) - all cooked authentically and full of flavor.

In another review I said that La Vita e Bella in Belltown has "cornered the market" for my Italian dinners. After a little research I discovered that they are owned by the same family. They know what they're doing.

One of the things I love about living in Seattle is that it's actually -harder- for me to go to a chain restaurant than it is for me to eat in a locally owned restaurant. After eating here I'm going to slap the next person that says they like the Olive Garden.

If you're looking for authentic Italian...which is very different than US Italian...that go to Sorrentino's.  The family brings the love of their country into the seasonal menu, which changes so as to keep you interested.

Their pizza is excellent - thin crust - just like you'd find in Italy.  I've ordered several pasta dishes, which are always unique and tasty.  I haven't saved room for dessert, but I vow to next time.

There will definitely be a "next time" since I really enjoy the relaxed, friendly dining experience at Sorrentino's.

As Lumette under the previous incarnation, you at least knew what you were getting; big sloppy Italian covered in cheese and marinara with no pretense of anything more than Nana's cucina. Having remodeled (slightly) and rebranded to end the French/Italian confusion, they've created the most expensive version of the Olive Garden I've ever encountered. For $14, I expect more than reheated (and burnt) lasagna that wasn't much more than 25 layers of wet noodles. My wife's $16 "baked" pasta di pomodoro was neither baked nor was there a trace of pomodoro. Perhaps we BOTH ordered wrong, but I just find that highly unlikely.  And don't give me the "it's Sicilian, not Italian" excuse, I've been to Sicily and the food at every corner shop was extraordinary. I would still like to try their wood fired pizzas, but with the newly inflated prices, I'm not apt to find myself there again soon.

Service was... well... new. It was her first night, so most things are forgivable, but with 5 waiters in the room, I shouldn't see diners getting up to steal salt & pepper from other tables and asking to borrow olive oil.  I really do hope this place sorts itself out because all of Enza Sorrentino's other establishments (La Vita e Bella, Mondello) have gotten fairly good reviews.

Okay, know what you are ordering.  Unfortunately, this is a universal law and one of the weaknesses of any one-off restaurant review (which I am certainly guilty of writing).  This is not one of those, however, I've been to Sorrentino somewhere around 10 times.

Sorrentino is the fourth restaurant owned by Mama Enza and her son and son's business partner.  An extended family affair that owns Mondello, La Vita and a wine bar / small plates place in Ballard.

Sorrentino is sort of Enza's place.  I will invite everyone to read all the interviews to start to find their way through the menu.

Pizza just isn't why you go to Sorrentino.  Why do you go?  Let's build a list:

Your First Visit to Sorrentino:

1. Homemade Limoncello, they put it in some drinks, but just get it neat. Yes, I said homemade.
2. Enza's gnocchi, you know what?  It's light!  You get Gnocchi Gorgonzola and it is ... light.  You can eat a whole plate of it and not feel bloated.  Enza is a Gnocchi goddess, don't let anyone tell you different.
3. The mussels crustini. Freakishly fresh mussels with artichoke - wonderful.

Order exactly that with a glass of Nebbiolo and you are set - at least for my taste.

My wife went through half an order of their Three-Meat Sauce dish and was anxious for lunch today when she could finish it off.

After eating this, you will get a feel for the menu and what Mama Enza excels at.

After wandering around upper Queen Anne the other night, we decided to give this place a try.  I knew there was a history with the family and other local restaurants.

As we we walked in, we were warmly greeted and escorted to our table.  The place was pretty full, with several large parties.  The atmosphere is very comfortable.  Warm tones and lighting.  It feels like a family restaurant - without the checkered tablecloths and Chianti  bottles as candle holders.

While everything is presented with casual professionalism, we did have a moment of comic relief with our server.

:think Italian Borat:

"Um, yes, a Mamma a makes the gnocchi afresha to-dah!"

I swear, I couldn't look at my husband during the specials recital or else I'd do the water spit take. It took every ounce of control to not laugh.

That being said - he was very sweet.  I think he actually is the son of Momma!  While we had to wave him down several times for things, he was great.  The other servers appeared to be more...polished.

We started with the cheese plate.  Very nice and generous servings.  The little dollop of applesauce with walnuts was tasty.

At the suggestion of Borato, we then split the Vincigrassi - their famous egg lasagna layered with veal ragu (which is what makes it famous), fresh tomato sauce and parmigiano cheese.  It was perfect.
The veal ragu provided the right amount of savory flavor, but without the grease/heaviness of beef/pork.  It was really silky smooth and delicious.

We then enjoyed splitting the Salsiccia e polenta.  Completely opposite from the lasagna in texture and flavor - but a perfect next course.  The dish is baked with pieces of their homemade pork sausage in a tomato/basil/green onion & peperoncino sauce, and polenta.

The tomato sauce was a tangy backdrop to the polenta with nice spikes of spiciness with the sausage.  We both agreed this was a "come-backer"!

Borato then brought us americanos (caffe vita) and a healthy shot of Sambuca.

Several times throughout the evening, Momma came out of the kitchen and walked through the restaurant.  While she didn't engage anyone in conversation - she did make eye contact and smile.  It was nice.

Aside from the food - the thing that struck me the most - was the energy of the restaurant.  It felt relaxed.  The noise level was normal, the music was enjoyable, the servers weren't frantic.  I almost felt like I was somewhere else - not Seattle.  It's the first place that I've been in a long time (maybe aside from Marjorie) that I WANT to go back to often.

I want Momma to cook for me and Borato to make me smile.  Buon appetito!

I think I expected something different.

My boyfriend and I walked up and down QA looking for a place to get pizza and a beer. That's it! Pizza and beer. Turns out the task is much harder than anticipated.

We came across this place, which we had been to before when it was named something else, and was much more "homey" and down-to-earth. The new Sorrentino was the same place, but trying to be more fancy. Fancy = lowering the lighting and jacking up the prices.

We ordered beers, which seemed kind of out of place at such a nice "fancy" restaurant... but they took about 8 minutes to get to us. The place was super empty, too... we watched our waitress walk around and talk to other people that worked there, and then finally brought us our beers. My boyfriend's beer glass was chipped and dirty. Mine was alright, but about 1/4 head. Not cool.

We ordered pizza, which was damn expensive for how small it was. We were like, oh yeah, let's get this "large" pizza and split it- it'll be plenty. It was the size of a Tony's pizza you can get at the grocery store, and about 5 times the price. I'm not poor, but I don't like to throw my pearls to pigs, if you know what I mean.

Not exactly a great experience, I liked it MUCH better when it was still under the old management, so, fughettaboutit. (that was cheesy, I know.)

This is the new place in the neighborhood, replacing Firefly/Lumette, and they clearly still have some kinks to work out.  The food was hit (a hearty sausage and barley soup; Gorgonzola gnocchi with a surprising -- and tasty -- sprinkle of pomegranate seeds; a perfectly cooked mixed grill of veal, sausage, and lamb) and miss (a bland fava amuse bouche; oily and flavorless antipasto; undervinegared salad missing the promised asparagus tips).

Service, however, was atrocious.  The staff were friendly, and I'll give our waiter a little credit for it being his first day, but things are going to have to improve to keep people coming back.  We had to ask multiple times for utensils, and were ignored for long stretches.  Food came extremely slowly, items were often forgotten or given to the wrong person.  I was offered fresh pepper for my soup, but my wife was not for her salad.  The first check we received was for the wrong table.  The second was for the wrong table, and included that party's credit card.  When our check finally arrived on the third go 'round, it included the wine that I had ordered but never received.  Other tables were clearly having similar problems.  Not once did anyone offer an acknowledgment or apology.

The food was good enough that we'll probably give it another shot, but Sorrentino is going to have to shape up if it's going to supplant Salvatore or Tulio in our Italian dining repertoire.

Wow.  Amazing, authentic, Italian cuisine.  Notice I said authentic.  Not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews on the food, everything that was tasted there was some of the best I've had, at least imo.  The service...well, yeah...but at least the waiter had a smile the whole night and made us laugh at some, or rather, all of his mistakes.  The owners were wonderful as well talking with us a lot during the evening. My whole group had a great time.  Definately going to be bringing some other friends to this place for dinner.  (try the lasagna)

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The lady who works there changes her attitude by customers.... It was too obvious. The dish was not that good as I expected. I will never come back there again.

I had been looking at Sorrentino Restaurant in passing for months, I dine out in Seattle often and dine by demographic most of the time, Last night was Queen Anne.
After finding parking right across the street at 7:30pm I felt pretty confident that my luck may continue with a great dining experience. As we walked in the ambiance was casual and the decor set the tone for a inviting experience. As we sat down at our table a few minutes had passed before we were greeted by anyone however I had the displeasure of listening to the owner of the restaurant an older woman yelling at whom I presume to be her husband under her breath for a minute, that immediately made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I ordered a glass of Chianti $7.00 (reasonable) to get me in the spirit of the meal, 1st course was the hearts of Romain Caesar Salad, I felt for $8.00 I should have received more than 5 leaves and less than a drizzle of dressing with no lemon and 2 very small crouton nibbles.
The menu stated that the lasagna bolognese $14.00 was voted best in Seattle so naturally when one reads such a review we wish to find out for our selves, I know lasagna and I know this was not the best in Seattle, I would venture to say that Costco lasagna that could feed your Familia of 6 for $15.00 tastes better than this undesirable approach of an entree.
At that point I decided to struggle through and maybe have something redeeming to talk about at the end of the meal, so I decided to order the Tiramisu, actually that was the only dessert that I could order considering the server asked if I would like to see the dessert menu and I stated yes the server stated well Tiramisu is the only thing we have left so I left it at that.
5 minutes later a sloppy unattractive piece of something with a pile of allspice (yes a pile of allspice as the garnish) was set in front of me to my disliking the tiramisu also $8.00 was one of the worst I have ever had in my life and I am not exaggerating, it was dry like it was 6 days old there was no sabbayon sauce or any sauce for that matter and with the allspice as the garnish I had to use the napkin to wash off my tongue.
Throughout the meal I graciously smiled and said everything was fine and ate all that was put in front of me "probably because I was starving and the portions were child like" Paid the $$$$$ bill and left, as I left I didn't receive one goodnight or thank you for joining us like the previous table before did, instead I was totally ignored.
In times like these where we as consumers are trying to get back to the way things should be we do not need to be taken advantage of by low quality high priced food with poor service, you as a business owner should know what that is and if you do not then please hire someone who does so this does not happen again.

I think it's a little overpriced for italian food although I did have a unique prawn dish that I've never seen at any other italian restaurant before....very small restaurant, dim lighting and live music, friendly service and very romantic ambiance.

Fantastic. Their pizza has the best thin crust. They have a traditional pizza oven which makes a perfect thin crust. I love the prosciutto and arugula. The sauce is amazing.  We eat here all the time and everything we try is fantastic. They make their own pasta. They have a kids menu. They bring crayons and paper for coloring. Their special brunches are fantastic. It's family-owned and they welcome children. It's excellent.
