I am dumbfounded that I lived in Charlestown for over a year before trying this place. There is no concrete reason for me not eating at this place sooner other than forgetting that it existed every time I was in the mood for a sandwich.
So for starters, their bread is amazing and anyone who is a sandwich connoisseur knows that the bread can make or break a sandwich.
I had their Fresh Mozzarella Pomodoro sandwich made on quite possibly the freshest piece of French Bread I have ever eaten. The amount of basil and balsamic vinegar was just perfect so that the sandwich was literally mouthwatering with flavor.
The service was a little slow since there were a lot of people in line, but the sandwich was definitely worth the wait.
And as a side note, the only reason we chose this location over the other is that it a shorter walk from my apt. I have heard the other location is much bigger and is able to accommodate the busy lunch rush better.
I have a great deal of respect for this business. They started small and grew, but kept the service consistent and personable. I like the menu and the drink selection as well.
I LUV the chocolate croissants and the muffins and the scones. The coffee is a bit dark, but i order a milder roast and leave happy every time.
Oh and the people who work here are the nicest.
I guess I'm eating the wrong things here because everytime I order something here I just don't like it. I've had several of the sandwiches and have always been disappointed.
I have tried the turkey bacon sandwich and found it to be nasty. The turkey breast was a bit slimy. Today I had the eggplant, mozzeralla cheese and tomato sandwich. And while better than the others I've tried, it wasn't great. Kinda bitter, actually.
Not a fan. Sorry.
I ended up going to Sorelle because someone gave me a gift certificate. I'm glad I did. I haven't had a chance to visit their other location, which I'm looking forward to doing, but if you're on the go and want to make a quick stop for a snack, this location is great for that. They have limited indoor seating, and some outdoor tables, but it really seems like if you are looking for atmosphere you should head over to the other one. I have only had a few things, but their cookies are amazing and they have the best fruit salad. I can't wait to try their sandwiches!
edit: Today I went to the other Sorelle and it is amazing!!! More to come when I review that one!
OK, now I've been to both Sorelles and I love each one for different reasons. The Monument Ave location is small, and quaint and has a nice little backyard garden, which is great for sitting in the sun and lingering over the paper. Such a charming place, great location and at this store, they have great fresh salads and entrees for lunch that are healthy and yummy -- I'm trying to avoid the sandwich trap -- and their offerings really help my battle of the bulge!! Hooray!!!!
Food-wise this place is great. I think both locations have the same menu but the sandwiches are always tasty. The muffins are good too and the breakfast bagel sandwiches are yummy on those hungover sunday mornings. The only complaint I have is the coffee... has a distinct burnt or smoked flavor to it that just doesn't belong in coffee. blech!
SAVE YOUR $$$. Went for lunch this past weekend. Not impressed. First off the floors, chairs, and tables were dirty. It looked like the place hadn't been swept in a week. The space was very industrial with not much charm. I'd give the food a C-. I ordered the turkey club with ham and the bacon was pure fat and slime. The plate they served it to me on had mayo smeared all over the bottom of it. Only positive thing about my lunch here was the Iced Coffee and the polite counter staff.
LOVE this place for an early morning breakfast, to sit and read the paper or work. I have not tried to lunch menu but I can recommend the coffee and the muffins & scones (lemon poppyseed & maple are great)...they also have yogurt/fruit/granola combos. The place is not amazing or anything so I would not go out of your way to come here. If you live nearby, then it is worth knowing about. Decor is very modern and actually although it looks cool, it tends to feel cold in there often. I noticed they have wine & beer too so it might be a good place to meet friends after work...
This isn't a destination cafe, but it's not a bad option if you happen to be in the area. I like the turkey and orange mayo sandwich on a baguette, but get your lunch early because they often run out of bread! Also, I'll echo other yelpers' concerns about the coffee-- it's pretty bad. Note that this location has a different menu from the City Square outpost, and the Main St location is only open until 2:30pm. They don't take credit cards on Main Street, either.
i work a block from here at the aveda salon and spa and its a great place to buy lunch always fresh and taste great...pastries as well as fruit and coffee
