Sophia took both our maternity photos and newborn photos and did a fantastic job! You're already feeling crappy enough in your 38th week of pregnancy but she managed to make you feel completely comfortable and attractive. I loved the maternity ones (so did my husband). We also had a great time with the newborn shoot. Although she suggested doing a bottle feeding so baby wasn't sleep or fussy, I had to breastfeed instead to calm the little one down and he did fabulously. She's completely prepared for all of baby's moods and "accidents". Overall it was a really easy and fun experience. Surprisingly, parking in the area wasn't too difficult to deal with either. We brought the little man at 3.5 weeks but could have done a little earlier and had more sleepy baby pictures but I was super happy with the awake ones. She didn't seem to have a ton of props or blankets so if that's the look you're going for, make sure to bring your own and tell her.

Sophia is FANTASTIC. I had to rush my boss to get business photos taken for an event as we were already past the deadline. I called Sophia and told her my dilema. She was so flexible, very accommodating, and incredibly helpful and customer service oriented. AND HER PHOTOS were AMAZING! She took wonderful pictures of my boss and was even able to rush them to me as I had to meet a 5pm est deadline. Thank you! I recommend Sophia and would give her 10stars, if I could. :)

So happy with Sophia's work. I'd gotten headshots done before with a photographer in New York last year and wasn't thrilled with them, so when my sister, who's an aspiring opera singer, showed me hers I was intensely jealous. My next trip to SF, I booked an appointment with Sophia, and I'm happy to declare that I love my new headshots.
Sophia is extremely professional, and her friendly personality helps camera-shy people like me feel more comfortable during the shoot.
Got my headshots back a week later, and as I said, I love them! I especially appreciate that she includes both color and b&w roughs. Only wish Sophia also had a studio in NYC :) -

I am so happy that I had my maternity photos taken by Sophia. She was delightful to work with. She made me feel comfortable and coached my husband throughout our shoot. I received so many compliments during my baby shower when I displayed our photos. Thank you Sophia!

Sophia is a PHENOMENAL photographer. After reading all of her great reviews on Yelp I decided to book her for my maternity photo shoot. From start to finish Sophia was 100% professional.
When I arrived to the shoot I was a little nervous about stripping down to nothing. Sophia completely put me at ease and before you knew it... clothes were on the ground! Throughout the shoot her instructions were clear and she was patient in explaining what angles would be best for the photos. She also worked great with my 2-year old son (who wasn't the most cooperative). I was thrilled when I received the final product. There were soo many awesome pictures to choose from, it was difficult for me to narrow down the selection.
I'm soo glad I found her!!!! Will definitely be using her in the future:) -

I was aware Sophia Field was a renown photographer for portraits but I trusted her with creating a series of photographs of my Ducati motorcycle. Words cannot describe how flawless and beautiful the results were. She not only knows all the techniques, how to play with lights, angles, texture but she truly gave life to the machine. The original intent of the photo order was to help me sell the bike; but looking at the work from Sophia I realized how much I loved that motorcycle and almost decided against selling it. Sophia is simply one of the most talented and professional photographers in the Bay Area. I would go back to her for any photo shoot need, whether it is portraits, weddings, stills.. She is an amazing artist.

Sophia Field did a superior job! She is a professional photographer that takes her work seriously and is very friendly.
Sophia really made sure we received the best customer service and photos.
The business head shots were beautiful, glossy, and the lighting couldn't get any better. The headshots looked great! No re-dos!
We appreciate that her professional studio is located in downtown San Francisco near union square-just blocks from my office!
We searched for almost a week looking for the perfect photographer.

I've been a fan of Sophia's work for years, and even used one of her photographs as my desktop image. I was so excited to learn that she had returned to the Bay Area, just in time to for her to take pictures of my daughter. She offers uniquely artistic portraits, headshots, still lifes, landscapes, and event coverage.
UPDATED 07 January 2008: Our photoshoot was fabulous. She is great with kids and her studio is a fantastic light-filled space that lets you shine.
UPDATED 31 May 2008: My maternity photo shoot was also fantastic. Sophie took perfect care of me and was amazing with my over-tired 2-year-old. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
PS: Don't wear black underwear to your maternity photo shoot! -

I wanted to get professional photography done and chose Sophia Field because I like the way her photographs look (the lighting, the colors, the angle, etc).
This would be my first time in my life with getting professional photography done (elementary school photo sessions don't count =P ), so I had a lot of doubts and shyness that usually comes with a person who doesn't like taking photographs.
My session with Sophia was awesome! I'm the quiet type of person, so I was afraid that the photoshoot would be a very quiet and akward session. But it wasn't! Sophia has such a friendly personality that it was easy to talk to her.
Her photography studio is great. I love the look and feel of her studio. It was welcoming, just like her personality.
Because I was new to all this "strike a pose" thing, Sophia showed me how to sit and look pretty. I was scared that my photographs would turn out with me looking ugly (a lot of us fear this). But after I got the proofs, I was surprised that the photos were good. Sophia can make you look great.
Sophia was very professional in her work. She has years of experience with photography and she's really good at showing you how to pose for the camera to capture the best YOU.
Sophia is great to work with, professional, affordable, and conveniently located in SF. -

I was so comfortable with Sophia that only an hour after I'd arrived, I was sprawled naked on her floor while she photographed me!
Let me back up a little. My husband and I went to Sophia last fall for maternity photos. We started out with pictures of the two of us cradling my big twin belly, then my husband posing with my bare tummy, and then me with a strategically placed scarf over my body. Sophia asked if I was comfortable with one of the poses I'd seen on her site - a great black and white one of the side view of a preggo naked lady. Going in, I'd decided I didn't want to do that shot. But at the point in the shoot, with my cares to the wind, and an absolute trust in Sophia, I disrobed and got comfy on the ground. I'm glad I did - it turned out to be very arty and beautiful. Of course not everyone has to do that shot and Sophia has tons of other poses you can do instead that involve wearing clothing.
I have never seen anyone else's maternity photos that even approach Sophia's! She even did our hair! She has great ideas for poses (many are on her site), and some cool props in her studio to work with (like a sofa that looks like it's made of red balls - oh wait, it *is* made of red balls). Not only does Sophia take amazing pictures, she really spends time perfecting each one on the computer. (I've never known a photographer to put in that much time!) She gets amazing colors. Plus, she really spends a lot of time editing photos to make her subjects look beautiful. She revealed to me beforehand (under duress) that she makes stretch marks and wrinkles magically disappear (but keeps her subjects looking like themselves) and never even tells her clients. It's just what a professional does. (You should see the examples on her site of a client's headshot taken by another photographer and her model headshot taken by Sophia.) I like to think with my photos that I didn't have stretch marks and wrinkles and perfect skin, and she didn't have to do any work.
After getting such amazing maternity photos, it was only appropriate to return to see Sophia for newborn photos a few months later. Conveniently, the two areas that Sophia specializes in are maternity and newborn photography. (Side note: The wedding photos on her site are amazing. She has some great unposed photos of people dancing. And really beautiful and creative versions of typical wedding shots - like the one of the wedding rings.) She was very patient with our babies and told us ahead of time that she knew we'd have to feed them during the appointment and that she understood there would be crying, but that was perfectly fine. Of course one of our twins had to fuss that day, but she got REALLY wonderful photos of both. We've gotten so many compliments about our maternity and newborn photos!
Another area of Sophia's expertise is boudoir photography. I feel like I went at this all wrong - boudoir photography first, then maternity, then newborn. That way Sophia would have much fewer stretch marks to have to deal with (but of course sweetly not tell me about after Photoshopping them out).Listed in: All Things Wedding

After seeing the engagement photos that Sophia took for our friends, my husband and I knew that we wanted her to take some maternity photos for us. While we're both pretty conservative and not exactly showboats, my husband and I really wanted to have some nude or nearly-nude pictures of us with my pregnant belly. We were so nervous when we were driving to Sophia's studio that we barely spoke to each other but I'm sure we were both thinking "what the heck are we thinking?!" But, when we got there and started to talk to Sophia, and my husband blurted out that he was terrified to take his clothes off in front of the camera, she said it was totally natural and that we could start with some nearly-nude shots in which all of our 'parts' would be covered. Well, Sophia sure has a way of making you feel at home because 5 photos in I had already taken my top off. Our album of maternity pictures is amazing! The lighting and contrast, the poses, everything just looks so natural and beautiful. I can't wait until our daughter is older and we can show her the beautiful pictures that Sophia took while she was still in my tummy.

Sophia is great -- professional, prompt, personable, talented. I've employed her several times for work in her studio and on location, both indoor and outdoor. She prepares based on the assignment and she has a great mobile setup and even more gear at her studio. And her follow-through is excellent -- from the way she preps the files for preview on the web, to how she delivers them. She's gone above and beyond -- when one shoot required some reworking (our error, not hers), she offered to do the PhotoShop work herself, and in another case when a product shot had a little too much glare, she just just reshot it immediately. She's very accessible, always just a cell call away. For reference, the work she did was for a national magazine featuring prominent, mass-market properties.

I loved going to Sophia Field for my headshots. They turned out looking very professional and very nicely done. The service was great and she had a variety of colored backdrops. She even has a hair blowing machine that makes you feel super glamorous. She gives you direction during the shoot so you aren't totally clueless, especially advice on posing. Her rates are also very reasonable. And to top it off her dog is adorable! I would recommend Sophia Field to anybody looking for great photos.

Sophia is a wonderful photographer who has a natural eye for taking great pictures. I'm pretty self conscious and usually hate having my photos taken, but Sophia managed to make me feel relaxed and enjoy our session. She is very professional and thorough in her work. She goes the extra mile for each and every client. Her photos speak for themselves. I've seen some of her other work and am a huge fan. I think she is a great artist. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to have photos taken. Her prices are also very competitive with others in the area.

We used Sophia for our maternity photos. She did a wonderful job and we were really happy with the amazing pictures she took. It wasn't easy to control our two boys (I am currently pregnant with my third - a girl!), but Sophia was patient and kind and the session was a big success.

Sophia Field is the best photographer I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I loved her photos, because they were beautifully done. I was very impressed with her work. I had my portrait taken and she made me extremely comfortable. It was such a fun experience. On the day of my appointment it was a very windy day so when I showed up at Sophia's studio my hair was in a mess. Sophia styled my hair beautifully, I was so happy with the way she did my hair for the photo shoot. She also gave me tips and showed me what poses were the most flattering for my photograph. Sophia is an outstanding photographer, and her photos are beautiful. I highly recommend Sophia Field Photography because she is the most talented photographer I have ever met. sophia is WONDERFUL!!!! i've tried to work with a couple of other photographers in the past and have always had terrible luck communicating with them and getting an appointment set up, but never with sophia. she is totally professional and knows what she's doing. both times i've asked her to take photos for me she's been super patient and made me feel really comfortable doing something that makes me totally uncomfortable. i absolutely love sophia and the photos i get from her, she is truly amazing!!!!!

Sophia has an unusual gift for capturing the individual's personality in a photograph. I needed a head shot for my website and my book that comes out in 2010, and subsequent publicity. The end result far exceeded my expectations, and everyone who has seen my photo agrees, including my publisher. Sophia is remarkably good at what she does. Sophia did the pictures for our newborn. She was incredibly relaxed and skilled while working with a three week old baby and two exhausted parents. The images she captured were beautiful and will be with our family forever. She was prompt and her online reviewing/ordering process were very easy. The only hard part was picking five poses among many amazing ones.
