I recently had to spend the night up in Sonoma and my clients put me up in the Sonoma Creek Inn. They said it was just down the street from the venue I was going to be work at (in "downtown" Sonoma) so I though, "hmm, must be nice." As I was driving to the inn, I noticed a drastic change in the neighborhood - not at all touristy, as a matter of fact, a bit blue-collar. I have to admit, even though it's Sonoma, I did get a hair nervous about what the inn might look like. Well, needless to say I was very pleased. The room was a good size, clean, and had a nice big bathroom. The bed was comfortable and I had a nice little outdoor area where I could sit and go over my notes. The weather that day had been pretty hot and, when I first walked into the room it was pretty stuffy. I hate sleeping in air conditioned room so having the ceiling fan was great.
In the morning, I walked around the bend to the little restaurant connected to the inn. Nothing pretentious, good, inexpensive food. I wouldn't neccessarily recommend the place for anyone looking for a romantic or luxurious room but it's perfect for that weekend getaway.
BEST DEAL IN THE VALLEY!! Stayed here overnight and couldn't have been happier. Had one of their balcony rooms (#15) and it was spotless with cute decor. The AC could chill meat so watch how low you set it before you leave or you'll be seeing your breath upon your return. Funny that it is right around the corner from the Sonoma Inn and about a third of the price. Save your money for wine and stay here. Cheers.
My position at work had just been eliminated...my BFF sez, "Road trip!" My BFF always knows what's good for me, so I say, "Hell, yeah!" She finds us this sweet deal at Sonoma Creek Inn. I mean, awesome deal for two nights.
The Inn had been renovated recently and the room we had was very comfortable and very clean. We settled in and decided it was like we were having a sleepover, only neither one of us had to clean up afterwards!
The Inn is a couple of blocks down from Sonoma Mission Inn. The neighborhood definitely has some flavor and I do say that in the most positive way! One of the yards in the 'hood had some really interesting objects hanging, nailed, attached to one of the trees. Come one, you'll never see stuff like that in the Sonoma Mission Inn.
What is travel without local flavor?!
The patio very nice especially in the evening when we could sit out for a few minutes and enjoy the country air...well, it was mid-January! :P
I would definitely stay again. Excellent value.

This place is a little gem. The people were really friendly and the rooms were quaint, clean, and comfortable. The private patio was a perk too. And, the price was right (check their web site for last minute specials/discounts).
The location was really convenient for us. It's just a few miles from the center of town and really close MANY wineries.
The cafe attached was perfect after a long night of wine-drinking: roll out of bed and get breakfast. Love that. The food was good, not great, but it suited my purpose.
I will definitely stay here again.

They had just done some renovations to the rooms because winter is their slow time and to make up for it they halved the price of the rooms (two nights for the price of one) and put a bottle of wine in the room to welcome us.
The rooms looked nice and felt cozy once the heater warmed them up. Bathrooms are nice a big. The beds are comfortable. We had a shared balcony with our friend in the next room but the 30 to 40 degree rainy weather kept us off it.
It is a bit off the beaten path so you are not very close to downtown. Also, the wireless internet did not work even though you could connect to the router.
I would suggest this place to people who want to go to Sonoma but want some peace and quiet.
Totally decent stay in the cute, wine-slinging town of Sonoma.
The Goods:
*Much more affordable than most options in town
*Clean, cute (on the inside), Spanish-style rooms w/ patios
*1/2 mile from the Sonoma Mission Inn (and 1/2 the price), where many events are held
*Decent little breakfast cafe on the grounds, where you can get takeout and bring it back to enjoy on your little private patio with the fountain
*Marvelous high water pressure shower, loved it!
*Quick Wi-Fi
*Nice inn-keeper
The Bads:
*Noisy roadside location, ok at night, but makes sleeping in difficult
*Bright white, thin curtains over south-facing windows, again, tough for the wine hangover sleep-in session
*Styrofoam cups in the room
The Uglies:
*Lacks curbside appeal, sort of motel-like at twice the cost (though, as mentioned above, inside is much nicer)
*"Late-night check-in" at 9pm, you have to call an emergency line & the operator guides you to a lock box with your key - not very welcoming & they made a mistake w/ our check-in. They thought we hadn't arrived, so we got a weird phone-call the next morning telling us our card would be charged anyway - we were still in bed - in the bed the operator had checked us into.
All in all, a pleasant enough place to tether yer ride when in town for a wedding or some such event, but not a luxurious, get-away wine country spot.

We spend a lot of time in Sonoma so I've probably stayed in every room there, twice. Ok, they only have 16 rooms, but....
Why? It's far less expensive than most of the other hotels, about half of what the Sonoma Mission Inn charges less than a block away. It's always clean and well-maintained. They are very friendly to us, and if we plan to arrive late they leave a key in the lock box. They will provide a roll-away bed if needed. There is a small caf attached, the Creekside Cafe, so you can roll out of bed and get a decent breakfast.
There are no spa facilities or pool so if you want that, you might want to either pay the day rate at the SMI or stay at a hotel/spa.
Someone mentioned the road noise. It is off Boyes Boulevard which is not a very busy road, but it does get traffic. They have fountains on the patios to create white noise but you will still hear some road noise.
We've been very comfortable staying there and our friends seem to like it too. It's a great alternative to some of the pricier hotels in Sonoma. It feels like a cross between a B&B and a small hotel. I'm giving it 5 stars for value.

Although the after-hours check-in sign reads, "For an emergency, dial 9-1-1. There is a payphone located at the 7-11," the place is not ghetto at all. And yes, this is the same 7-11 mentioned in Ricky M.'s review.
The rooms are spacious and clean, the bathroom was huge (although it doubled as the kitchenette complete with mini-fridge and coffee maker), the tv was tiny, the decor was kitchy and the hospitality was excellent.
Hospitality: day one, we arrived for late check-in and dialed for the pass code to the mailbox, where we found an envelope containing our room keys. Day two, our key was hijacked and a new key was issued, during normal operating hours. End day two: we returned to the room with our old keys, which no longer worked b/c of the issuing of the new key. No problem, call after-hours again and receive a new passcode for the master key. Day three, check-out, very simple.
Bonus: somehow, someone in our party managed to shatter into a thousand pieces the oversized mirror hanging on the bathroom door. We were not charged for the damage.
The hotel isn't a five-star hotel, but for a cute little stop in Sonoma it was the perfect accommodations at the right price.

There are two possible impressions when arriving to this hotel. If you come in via the main town square, past the quaint shops and side road stands and just the Fiarmont Inn & Spa (which is just around the corner), you'll think you've found a hidden gem.
Come in via Arnold Dr., up Boyes Rd past the neighborhood homes, (some of which look down trotten) and just past the 7-11 store (must remember for possible late night booze run) then you're impression is "what am I about to get into?"
However the route you take, the Sonoma Creek Inn is a cute, clean, cozy hotel with some of the best room accommodations I've seen in similar places.
The rooms have details such as old road signs for hat/coat hooks. Old poster art from Sunset Magazines. Large bathrooms with beautiful tile and large powerful shower heads.
My favorite part of the room was the small patio. A Spanish style area with a small fountain whose water sound is very soothing. It's a good place to read in your own privacy or simply have a glass of wine after a day of exploring the region.
There is fast WiFi here which is being used now as I right this review on the very same patio describe above, listening to streaming music on a Mac from Soma FM radio sipping and sipping a glass of wine.

So this germophobe, cheapskate took herself on a mini-writing retreat and found the cutest, CLEANEST little inn for a mini-price. Seriously, we're talking cheapo Motel 6 prices but the rooms are clean, have little writing desks, cute furniture, lovely tiled showers, and most have a patio or a balcony with a soothing fountain. There's also a cafe immediately next door with a friendly guy at the counter.
I took them up on their Carpe Diem special and stayed 3 days / 2 nights for $135 total which included a really nice bottle of local wine and several wine tasting passes.
The only drawback is that it's on a fairly busy street so it gets noisy if you stay cooped up inside like me all day. But since most people head out during the day to enjoy Sonoma's spas, wineries, sites, this isn't a big deal as it quiets down in the evening.
I brought a baguette, some fruit, Cowgirl Creamery cheese, and with my complimentary bottle of wine I saved myself money on eating out (and saved it for the spa-- Sonoma Mission Inn is just down the street!). Just kicked back on my little balcony listening to the chortle of the fountain and watched the late afternoon clouds pass over the western hills.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while we came up to visit the Napa and Sonoma valleys. This place was definitely a good deal. We came for the Carpe Diem special and it was very affordable. Our room was clean and reminded me of staying at my mother-in-law's home when we come to visit. The only things I had complaints with were the drainage of both the shower and sink and also because of the garbage truck waking me up early on our last morning there. I think we'll end up staying here again and we'd recommend it to our friends.
This little inn is great. The rooms are so quaint, comfy and clean and the little enclosed patio off the room is very serene. I couldn't have asked for a better stay at Sonoma Creek Inn. The after-hours check in worked out great. We were treated very well and we will definitely consider this place for our next visit.
