bread pudding. I have to put that first because you yelper's with a sweet tooth must try!
Despite the craziness trying to find close parking, the exceptional customer service, makes up for it and I don't mind parking a mile away to receive the awesome help from RJ.
I called in an order during rush hr/lunch hr/ on a busy friday and there he was with my 4 separate orders with a halo on his head ready for me to pick up.
I did order 4 ranch's and 5 ketchups on the side and he mentioned it wasn't in the bag yet and to go help myself at the dressing/condiments bar. On my way there, I hear a clickity clack following me to the bar and there he was again RJ, with wings and the halo blinding my sight...I see his hands grabbing the keptchup and the ranch dressing for me and places them in the bags. WOW, I felt like a ketchup queen.
Excellent food and excellent customer service. He really made my day..In fact, i'm going to call him up for his catering services for a work meeting on Thursday.
wow.
I think... this could've been better if I ordered something with chicken... Whoops. Had the Shrimp & Avocado salad with a nice Hi-C Fruit Punch w/ lemon. LOVED the Fruit punch... not too much into my salad, but it was pretty good I suppose. Wished the shrimp was warm, and not just cold shrimp. My main complaint, but it is a salad, so, whatever.
It was also super super busy when I came... which was primetime right before a Sharks game. What a mistake, but we did a find a seat for our party. They also had a nice fireside chat-up area set up with seats and heat lamps outside (aside from the canvas-tent-ish set up). Don't know if I'll be back anytime in the far or near future, but I woulnd't mind a return visit.
Dropped by here for a quick meal with friends before getting on a plane at SJC. How convenient that this place is so close to the airport! There's lots of parking in the adjacent parking garage, plenty of seating, and eating a meal here is quick (just get in line, order, get your food then eat).
The hubby and I split the half Roost-tisserie Chicken along with the Rooster Booster BBQ sauce, which came with fries and a piece of foccaccia bread. The chicken was a decent size, enough for the 2 of us. The Rooster-Booster BBQ sauce wasn't anything super spectacular-- just good ol bbq sauce. (Tried my friend's sauce--Warm Lemon Vinaigrette, which I would recommend over the bbq sauce). Overall a good meal.. I'll be back here to try some other dishes next time!
Oh...you did NOT make me happy tonight.
I ordered their special - mahi mahi with shrimp. I LOVE (not) eating mahi mahi that is overdone it's dry...and the shrimp was akin to eating a rubber ball. The rice was ok, but the veggies had been so overboiled they were crying for me to save them. Alas, I could not. My food was not piping hot how I like it. My fish was a bit on the tepid side, which made my paranoid side kick in - how long as it been sitting there? blah blah blah. I'm sure some of you know someone who is like that.
Hubby got half a chicken...and it was boiled chicken, not rotisserie. Strike two for them!
This is my third experience with Sonoma Chicken Coop around the Bay Area. I don't understand the hype. Dinner was $30 for the both of us...we could've paid that plus an extra $10 at a sit down restaurant with waiter service!
Maybe I shouldn't have ordered seafood at a place like this, but darn it, I wanted seafood...I've found their salads to be a bit on the bland/boring side, so I wanted to try something different.
I should've stuck to bland/boring.
Good restaurant but a crazy uneven menu! GET THE ROTISSERIE CHICKEN. That's why this place exists. Yes, they offer sandwiches and a decent salad, but that's just so your coworkers don't complain if they're not in the mood for rotisserie chicken and things other than the rotisserie chicken just aren't that special here. Even things with chicken in them like the salads with chicken and the sandwiches with chicken. And even the things they put in colored boxes on the menu to make them more appealing. F it. Get the rotisserie chicken. OK, point made.

I actually really liked their super moist, rich and tasty (and even a bit sweet) 1/4 dark chicken -… Read more »
This is a sweet spot for grub at all hours.
It's the COOP! Inexpensive excellence yo.
Less than $8 for chocolate fondue? Hell yea, are you kidding me?
Tons of parking, the plaza it's in is absolutely gorgeous. Huge fountains right outside. Just grab your plate and eat outside, it's so nice.
Fast service, hella spacey, tables everywhere on the 1st and 2nd floor. Full bar for ya, tv screens to watch the Sharks whoop @##.
Love to chill here for dessert or a meal.
I'm a vegetarian, but they got sweet deals on Fridays and Saturdays for Surf and Turf.
This is thee best place to have dinner with a large party.
I just went here for my birthday last weekend and there was plenty of space and seating for my guests. There are two floors in the restaurant. I made reservations with RJ on the second floor, but I guess he decided to move my party down to the first floor without informing me hence minus the one star. If you wanna have a drink or two, there's a small bar located on the first floor in the back.
I've been to the Campbell and Downtown SJ location, but they don't compare to this one. This location is conveniently located off of Highway 87. Once you exit the freeway, you won't miss it. There is plenty of parking so you won't have to drive around in circles to find a spot. The only con about this location is that it closes earlier on Saturday compared to some other Sonoma Chicken Coop locations.
Anyhow, I got the Grilled Salmon Risotto and it was delicious. I also tried their fondue and it was absolutely yummy. They have weekly specials displayed right when you enter the restaurant so be sure to check those out before you take a look at the menu.
It took so long for this place to open that I put this location of the Chicken Coop out of my mind, until this evening.
Easy access from Hwy. 87 and near the newly renovated Mineta International Airport. The restaurant's location is shared with a coffee shop, Club One and business park - so parking could be an issue during the day and lunch hour.
The restaurant is very spacious with a large patio area. If you decide to sit in the patio area - hold on to your napkins and hat as it can get very windy out there.
Large screen TV's, bar , lots of seating. Great place to bring a group of people to watch the game or families with kids. Evening times are best to come as there's not as busy during the day hours and service is fast - especially important if you're wanting to eat NOW.
S and I shared the salmon risotto and Chicken Walnut Salad. The salmon was a good portion size and the risotto was very cheesy, but savory. Hmmmm - hit my hunger spot! The Chicken Walnut Salad had generous amounts of chicken and walnuts with a light dressing. Both dishes were more than enough to settle two healthy appetites!
I'm glad you're open SCC! What took you so long!!
5 stars for RJ...enough said!!!
Oh and the Chicken Carbonara is to die for! And they have $4 dollars margarita's all day?!?
I'm giving this 4 stars for a lunch place. I would give it 3 stars for a dinner place, though this location I don't think is open during dinner.
Reasons: quick as all heck, good solid food, creative enough to tickle me during a boring lunch.
Not orgasmic lunch. Just tickle a teeny bit.
Things I like- chicken carbonara (nice, heavy, rich, but not stomach-exploding), cobb salad (best i ever had, baby, and huge), and their burgers are good and big and their fries are noms.
So... boring lunch turned into solid satisfying lunch, yes. But going there more than 1 ever 2wks? I might shoot myself.
In addition, Vito's in same plaza is DAMN good italian for lunch.
Noms. Noms. Noms.
This Sonoma Chicken Coop will probably be my favorite location to go to only because it's easy to get to and parking is a snap.
As for the food, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. Most of the time I don't like their food but it's a nice place to go with a large group or for lunch because of the large amount of space they provide.
This one is much larger and more spacious and open then the Downtown and Campbell locations I have been to. I prefer their setup over the other two and the large bar off to the side is a nice touch. I noticed they have a large seating area upstairs which might be perfect for large groups and parties.
This location is very clean and the staff is friendly as well. They have a really nice patio outside where you can enjoy a nice lunch in the sunshine.
I'll be back if anyone wanted to meet for lunch or a drink here sometime.
I came here with the BF to have lunch during a busy work day and to take advantage that he was working in San Jose for the day.
The location is convenient since it's only a few minutes away from my workplace. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage if you can't find any street parking.
The restaurant is pleasantly large. It's clean and did remind me of a quick serve cafe but I liked the decor and the fact that there was a lot of seating indoors and outdoors.
I got the Grilled Salmon Risotto while the BF had the New Orleans Blackened Alaskan Cod. My Risotto was really good. Tasty Risotto and well-grilled Salmon that had a tangy flavor. The BF's dish, however, was good but I think the cod was way too salty. He didn't notice it at first but as he ate more, he agreed to me. The vegetable side dishes (grilled asparagus on his, steamed green beans on mine) were good. I like the huge slice of bread/pizza/carb on the side.
The portions were generous and I left feeling like I overstuffed myself despite not polishing off my plate.
It's a great place to go for a bite to eat during lunchtime but be warned that a lot of people in suits will be here as well.
I love SCC, and physically this was the nicest of them. The place is clean, it's not nearly as crowded, the seats are comfy and the food is served much quicker than at the Campbell location.
Sadly, I must have ordered wrong, because while I've never been disappointed at the other locations, I had a truly lackluster meal at Skyport.
I had the Chicken Rice and Mushrooms. It was watery. The mushrooms and chicken were flavourless. The entire thing just reeked of bland. I skipped my normal Bread Pudding because I was so unhappy with the food.
Now, it may just have been that one dish, and I'll certainly go again because it's the closest good food to the Doubletree, but it was very disappointing.
I do like the location, the service and the layout, though.
OMG Cate and Jeff - the bartenders are absolutely great! I started joining my friends who come to the Coop every Friday (and sometimes Saturday too). I can see why they have made it such a habit to come every week.
The first time I met both Cate and Jeff, they made me feel so welcome! They made me seem like I was an old friend. The atmosphere there is fun and casual. It's a great place to go and unwind and have a great drink! My favorites are their margarita, Jeff's Fusion and Cate's Starfish!! So good! Even when they get slammed behind the bar, they have it under control! Still making sure I am a happy customer. Check out their Happy Hour too!
The service is outstanding, as is the food. My all time favorite is their BBQ Chicken Pizza! You have to try it! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
I just moved to Portland and I am already missing my Coop! I hope I can find a place just as wonderful as the Coop and with the same exceptional staff!!
This location is an absolute winner!
We had a GIST Cancer Research Fund raising dinner here the night before our annual GIST Walk for a cure.
The manager and team went out of their way to make this dinner successful.
The dinner was a buffet dinner of tri-tip, delicious chicken, roasted veggies, garlic bread, pasta along with desserts of bread pudding or cheesecake. The attendees all raved about the dinner.
We are already planning to have another GIST Cancer Research fund raiser next October. This location can handle large crowds.

The newest Sonoma Chicken in San Jose and probably one of the no fuss locations out of all of them. You don't have to worry about paying for parking or parking far and walking to it. They have their own parking lot and plenty and I mean plenty of seating here. It doesn't get crowded here and there is even a bar area as well at the Coop.
There are two levels at this location and outdoor seating as well. My friend and I tried the chicken parmigiana, lime chicken and the fondue. All were very good but we felt stuffed and overwhelmed. Really big portions and it comes with sides of pasta, a slice of pizza and sometimes chips. Great atmosphere and the staff was very nice as well.
The lime chicken is one of my favorites and the leeky mashed potatoes were full of flavor. The fondue is a great bargain but can make you feel super stuffed after eating so much food. Overall, a great place and I would come back and like their motto says, it is inexpensive excellence!
Had a banquet on their spacious 2nd floor. RJ and staff were attentive in taking care of us. Service was quick and with a smile on all occasions I've been here.
For starters, the house salad was average; the Crispy Calamari gets high marks. As for the entrees I've had so far, I prefer their quarter dark meat Roost-tisserie Chicken (with rooster booster BBQ sauce) over their Lime Grilled Chicken. For sides, the grilled vegetables are my favorite. The herb-seasoned rice and fries are just okay for me. Pizza with every order adds a nice touch.
I'm looking forward to their Happy Hour!
I have been to the Sonoma Chicken Coop located on Market Street in downtown San Jose numerous times and have had more good experiences than bad there. However, this particular location always leaves me disappointed.
It's a spacious and they have a bar in the corner. But there is not much to like after that. The food is served in a timely manner, but it tastes like cafeteria food here. It reminds me of the DC (Dining Common) in college.
For the record, I traded in all my DC meals for cash about three weeks into my freshman year of college. Yeah, that's how bland and mediocre the food was and this SCC is no different.
And here I thought Sonoma Chicken Coop was supposed to be "inexpensive excellence." At this location, it is more like "immoderately priced mediocrity."
I came back for the Monday/Tuesday night special: Filet Mignon Dinner for Two.
We ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect. Usually you're a little worried that your steak will come one a little over cooked but we didn't have that problem here. For a total for $42 (with tax) you get 2 filet mignon dinners which come with a baked potato and asparagus. It also comes with wine or beer and a dessert to share.
The baked potato was perfect.. It came with a lot of bacon, sour cream, and green onions. YUM!
The asparagus was cooked just right. I'm not a huge fan of asparagus but I finished mine because it was really tasty.
The sauce on the steak and underneath it was sooooo tasty. They both started with a "B" and I think one of them was bernaise sauce.. please don't ask me for the other one. I'll figure it out when i upload the pics.
Anyhoo.. we chose the dark chocolate fondue for dessert. It was too much for the both of us. My favorite was the banana. Since the pook doesn't like bananas plain this was a good way to get him to eat it. I recommend this for more than 2 people.
I was disappointed to find out that Bert wasn't working tonight. We knew he works on Wednesdays for sure but we wanted to try this dinner special.
I recognized RJ and introduced myself. He had responded to the first review I had written and thanked me for it. What really made my night was that he had a feeling we were going to order the French Toast drink Bert had made us on the pook's birthday so by the time we got to the bar to see if the bartender could make this drink... RJ was already on the phone calling Bert to find out how to make it. He was able to get through to Bert and he successfully re-created the drink! The pook said it was right on spot and was really pleased with it.
We will definitely return to see Bert and RJ again. My only disappointment was that the bartender tonight (Mei..Mai?!) couldn't make us the vodka gingerale that Bert had made for us on that particular night we had the birthday dinner. We ordered a long island instead and it was perfect.
PS. You can tell I like this place because I'm actually typing this correctly instead of everything in lower case..
Thank you RJ and Bert for your excellent service. You have yourself two very loyal customers and I hope others will find their way here because of my review

I always want to like Sonoma Chicken Coop. Their menu sounds good, the place is so big and comfortable... but then the food arrives and it's never very good.
I tried the newest location recently by the airport, and had the BBQ chicken pizza. After tax it came to $12. That's just for a pizza I ate myself. I'd rather share an awesome pizza at Little Star or Patxi's (or one of about a hundred places in the Bay Area) for much less per person. It didn't even include red onions and cilantro like most versions of BBQ chicken pizza. It was just cheese and meat. Granted there was a lot of meat, but to tell the truth it was a dead ringer for a Pizza Hut pizza (not really a good thing).
Anyway, I know I'll be back (I always am) because something will appeal to me on the menu, but one day hopefully I'll learn my lesson...
This is my favorite sonoma by far.. the service was amazing...
the guy at the register was funny and cool..
service is fast fast.. it's really spacious.. and i really love the outside patio.
calamari is a must here.. but make sure it's for 2 people atleast.. it's quite filling!
good cheap eats.
the only bad thing is that parking is a little hard.
This is the best place so far near the airport,, great food...great tasting.very friendly staff...
Did you know they have entertainment some evenings?, sit outside & enjoy the music...
All I can say is
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The chicken parmagiana is to die for!!!!
The cheese bread is sooooo gooood, they give you excellent serving portions, enough to have left overs and take it to work the next day.
Note to self: MUST try their other dishes, and their desserts, see you sometime this weekend Sonoma Chicken Coop!!!!! YUM!! YUM!!
(I guess I gotta hit the gym after this weekend...lol!!)
I LOVE this place! I was super excited when they finally opened up this location so close to the airport.
It's spacious with both indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating.
The rest is the same: food is delicious. Service is impossibly quick. And they have prime rib dinner on Friday night for $19.99. Can't beat that!
Steak and Lobster for 22 dollars! Wow! I also like the chicken and I don't mind the cafeteria like service if that means that I can get Steak & Lobster for 22 dollars. Steak had a wonderful cheese sauce, too bad I'm lactose intolerant.
My husband is VERY fond of the pasta and pizza though I think those are just meh. The prime rib is also very good though I have not had it specifically at this branch yet. Sonoma Chicken Coop is a small local chain.
I only went to the Sonoma Chicken Coop in downtown San Jose a few times. So I can't say anything bad about this one.
I really liked my visit here. Though the portion of Chicken Carbonara was way smaller than the portion I got at the other location.
The manager dude was overly nice and really cool. I like the floorplan.
The happy hour drink specials were kinda weak though.
The food is still great.
What's with all the bad reviews? This place is just as good as any of the other Sonoma Chicken Coops. In fact, I really like this venue. The staff is very friendly. From the bussers, to the people who take your orders...everyone we interacted with was really nice.
The food is just the same as any of the other Sonoma Chicken Coop restaurants. The place is pretty big as well and it does draw a big crowd, so I really still don't know how is getting such low reviews.
One great thing about going to this place with friends is that it's easy to split up the bill since everyone can just go up and pay as they order. So there's no drawn out fighting over who gets to pay the bill this time or worrying about having to pay for that one friend who just always seems to be low on funds.
The food is pretty good. I don't know about the food tasting like cafeteria food as mentioned in other reviews, but it doesn't taste like your typical processed foods that you get in a regular restaurant. I think it reminds me more of home cooked food.
On this particular occasion, my husband got the chicken (you have to get the chicken here, right? You all know what I'm talking about.) Which was awesome as usual. When you order the chicken, you can get it with 3 different types of sauces. They're all equally great.
I got the Prime Rib special that they serve on Fridays. First thing that I have to say is this dish is HUGE. It was delicious as well. Cooked perfectly and for less than $20. I'm sold!
Overall, I'm glad they opened a new venue so closer to my house. I'll be back, Sonoma Chicken Coop. Can you save me a table? Hehe...
Talk about being the biggest !@# tease ever. After having the "Coming Soon" sign up for over two years this Sonoma Chicken Coop has finally opened up, yay! I came here last night to celebrate a friend's birthday, Happy Birthday Gigi! :)
The location is great. This is now the closest "open" Sonoma Chicken Coop to my house. The Campbell restaurant used to be my favorite location, but this one was able to match the ambiance. This spot feels large and much more open space compared to the other locations that feel somewhat crowded. When you first step in you walk towards the right to pick up a menu and can take a look at the daily specials. The menu for the daily specials is kinda hidden, so look carefully on the very far right. On the left on the opposite side is where the bar is located, which ended up being one of my favorite spots for the night. :)
They have an upstairs area which I didn't even check out. For our large group, we had a private room in the back. I've eaten at the downtown San Jose location as well as the Campbell location and the food has always been pretty good. From the numerous times I have gone I've tried the Chicken Parmagiana, BBQ Chicken Pizza, Roast Chicken & Walnut Salad, and Fried Calamari and they've all been good. Last night I went with the Focaccia Bacon & Cheddar Burger and it hit the spot. I love the fluffy and soft foccacia bread that surrounds the bacon, patties, and cheese. Yum! The burger was decent size and tasted wonderfully delicious.
Summary: Sonoma Chicken Coop has always been a great place to take a large group. Most people can usually find something they like to eat and its great place to relax for some drinks.
I can't blast this place too harshly because I know their struggle in getting it open, and I know that everyday they try harder and harder. It's huge, with room upstairs to eat, and several table-sizes to accommodate the huge office retreat it becomes around lunch time.
I've been to the bar during happy hour, where the bartenders try hard to please you.
...and I've been in during lunch.
I feel like I pay dinner price for a lunch that tastes like it came out of my High School cafeteria.
Perhaps I should try this place for dinner. It could just be the demand that trumps the quality of the food.
I have been going to SCC in downtown SJ on Market Street for years. I am a fan, my roommate is a fan, my parents are fans! When I heard they were opening one up at this location I was so excited since it's on my way home and would be easy to stop at after work. Well it took a long, long time to open as other posters have stated. Too long but they are finally opened so let's concentrate on that.
My friend and I went for an early dinner at 4:00p last week. There were only a few other customers there but it started to get more busy as it got closer to 5:30p. We both ordered one of their weekly specials. I had the pork chili verde but substituted the meat for the sliced roasted pork they were serving with another special. My friend had the fried fish sandwich (fish and chips style). The sliced pork was a little dry but I enjoyed it anyway with the whole beans, Spanish rice and tortillas that came with my order. The fish sandwich had a huge piece of fish and it was moist on the inside but crispy on the outside.
I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant. It's larger and more open than the Market Street location and brighter than the Campbell location. It has a bar in the corner near the stairs that lead to the second floor. It also has a decent size front patio with tables.
One of the reasons I like Sonoma is the weekly specials usually offer something I like and it's fun to try different things at a restaurant that you regularly frequent. And if I'm not interested in any of their specials I always have my favorite standbys: the Roost-tisserie Chicken, the Apple Harvest Salad, or the Chicken Cheddar and Avocado Sandwich!
OK so it's open now. 2 weeks before I move away. Sad. Well, not that sad. Read on.
If you haven't eaten at the Coop before, here is how the chain works: you grab a menu and get in line or head for the counter if there is no line. They typically have a few specials sitting near the counter that are not on the menu. So far the Skyport location is like any other Coop.
We ordered and the guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful and he was wearing a tie so maybe he's the manager. Whether he is or not, he did a nice job. One star for him.
We paid $30 for two fountain drinks and two pasta dishes. We took our Styrofoam cups to the machine to fill them up. Classy.
Pager went off a few minutes later. We walked up to the "pick up" part of the counter to get our pastas. They were served on plastic plates. The dishes looked nice though.
So the pastas were steaming hot. Good sign so far. I ordered the special which was a pasta with sausage, chicken, mushrooms, bell peppers, olive oil, and cheese. I didn't see a single mushroom in there but whatever.
I took a bite and all I tasted was plain dry pasta. I dug around to the bottom and it was still all plain dry pasta. If they used oil it must have been mineral oil because it was flavorless. There was also no salt or pepper used during preparation. So I emptied about a tablespoon of pepper and I literally used 1/2 a shaker jar of parmesan cheese to flavor it and it was still totally bland. And weird. The sausage and peppers were good together but the chicken was just an odd thing to put in there. Let's just say: Dear Chicken Coop, don't ever put that one on your regular menu.
Boyfriend had the Alfredo pasta. It was equally strange (it came with these super hard strips of sun dried tomato) though it had a little more flavor. He seemed to like it so that's good.
The man who was busing the tables was really nice and asked us if we needed anything and he got a to-go box for Boyfriend. A star for him.
I guess I just took a really long time to say that the value of coming here is pretty low but the staff is great and the dining room is appealing. I did notice that they have a full bar so it might be a good place to grab a drink after work. Other than that it was a really long wait for nothing IMO.

"Coming Soon," for almonst 2 years now. That's sort of like how the video store has "new releases"… Read more »
We first moved into the buildings next to Sonoma (Skyport Center) about 3 years ago. Parking stalls for our office were striped as 2 hour parking and EVERYONE parked in them regardless since Sonoma was supposed to be the anchor restaurant. I even got a permanent blemish on my windshield from some of the idiots working security there that taped a notice to warn me about towing my car away......
So imagine my surprise when the office manager finally tells everyone they opened with a limited menu for St. Patrick's Day. While working hard and trying to save my job from the recession, they were giving out free beer!...
After visiting the gym today, I went over to check out the place. I love the daily specials they have here, but all the options were $11.00+. I mean, the downtown location always had something reasonable priced at 8-9 bucks, but I guess we're smack in the middle of the business district here. A nice lady with free bread was giving them out as people waited in line (always ask for MORE bread with your dishes, they are yum). I ordered the roast pork, three thick slices of pork with braised cabbage and mashed potatoes. The portions were huge and the price was $12.00. Its great, made for two meals for me. The pork is perfectly cooked and fell off the knife easily and the mashed potato was fluffy and fresh. At first the braised cabbage looked kinda funny, but a taste proved me wrong; it was full of flavor and a blast to eat.
The inside is a little dark, quite like the downtown location. There is a porch are that faces the 87 freeway and the airport that should be nice for some outdoor dining. Everything seems newer and more upscale than the other locations, but then again this is a business location and should be expected.
Service is quick and there is call in service available. It took me 5 minutes to get my food and the guy was apologetic for it being "late". Might be just an opening performance, but it was a good one. The quick service may justify the price for many people here who can't take that long of a lunch (unlike people eating at Vito's Trattoria) and really allows people to save time and get a gourmet meal in a nice place.
I'm glad this place finally opened and I'm pretty sure my coworkers and I will come here often.
Conveniently, my home has moved several times in the past year, always close to one of these restaurants. And now I live next door to this one. (And to note, I don't make my living choices based on these restaurants!) I've only been to this one 3 times, but this review is from an overall experienced patron.
Service: The manager recognized me from the downtown location, whether or not that is true or he says that to everyone, he's nice. His staff is well-trained and always very attentive. I hope they get paid well and like their job.
Atmosphere: I like it. Great, spacious dining rooms, nice upstairs, large outdoor area where my dog and I can sit. Very clean. The second time I came here was on a Friday night (not by choice), and some sad solo singer/guitarist was hired for entertainment. I felt bad for the guy as there were only 3 tables there at 8:30 pm. On top of that, a couple of tequila girls were hired for free tequila sampling. Not a fan of tequila (dates back to bad experiences in college), but even more that I'm not a fan of girls in short cut-offs and silver wigs. Either terrible publicity for these special events, or just a terrible idea all together.
Food: Like every other Sonoma Chicken Coop restaurant. Expected, reliable, and good-sized portions. ironically, I never order chicken there as it is my least favorite. The chicken never seems to be marinated enough, esp. the BBQ one which is a mere slather of BBQ as soon as its plated. The worst thing are the stale tortilla chips, served with sandwiches. Fries would be better.
Price: I ordered steamed green beans and an artichoke, with a soda and it was $14!!! Everything used to be under $10 when they first opened (at other locations). And given the hard economic times, I can understand the inflation in prices. I'd come here more often if everything was just a bit cheaper.
Overall: I don't agree with other reviews that this place tastes like a dorm cafeteria, or Boston Market. It is much much better. I hope that they get consistent business as it is nice to have a place next door. Their success in business mildy makes my home value a bit higher, so more support to them!
This restaurant is really big! It seems like theres enough to fit over 100 people! They had a couple of big TV's inside that showed sports games..
This place is different from most places because you order first and then sit down and they'll buzz you when your order is ready. It was weird because it reminded me of the DORMS. You bring your tray to the table and refill your own drinks. The condiments and utensils are out on a separate table..
I got the garlic chicken alfredo and tried a side of mashed potatoes. I thought the pasta was a little bit too creamy, i don't know maybe I'm just being picky. The mashed potatoes were cold, but the gravy was pretty good! They also added some toasted onion strings on top.
Overall this place was okay, but the food and its presentation wasn't that great. It reminded me too much of the dorms
I, like the rest of us was quite bitter it took so long for this location to open! I was a frequent customer at the Campbell location so when I moved to the north downtown area I was so happy to see the Coop "Coming Soon". We drove by on St Patricks day and couldn't believe our eyes - it was really OPEN! So of course we stopped in for a quick bite for my friend's last American meal before leaving for Thailand. The food and service was great considering it was their opening day.
I'm sorry to say up until a few weeks ago I hadn't been back. No reason really, but I guess the excitement wore off after waiting so long. Not to mention most of my friends still head to Campbell for HH and nightlife. One evening a few weeks ago I stopped in with my friend to grab a drink before dinner and there was Jeff - the bartender from the Campbell Coop! It was so nice to see a familiar face who actually remembered us after so long. Jeff was joined by Katie behind the bar and oh my goodness they are all you need to have a great time at the Coop. Their drinks are amazing and they made us feel like "regulars" even though it was our first time at the bar. If you don't know what you're craving give Jeff a little direction and he'll create something you're sure to love! I've been back twice in the last couple weeks and met a few true regulars that I can't wait to have a few drinks with next week! Now I'm hooked, I look forward to going to the Skyport Coop on a weekly basis now. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy a drink or two, enjoy yummy food and sometimes there's live music!
Also they have Prime Rib on Fridays and Steak & Lobster on Saturdays! I definitely need to bring the hubby for that!
My recommendations:
Jeff's margarita
Katie's margarita - a little different than Jeff's!
Jeff's "Fusion" shot or cocktail - don't ask what's in it is because it's a secret , just take my word for it! (he's entering it in a competition)
Hot Wings - you'll need a cocktail to put the fire out in your mouth!
White Hot Mozzarella
Half Chicken with Warm Lemon Vinaigrette
Had lunch there today with my wife. I ordered the spaghetti with meat ball and sausage. They didnt drain the spaghetti enough, it was all watery. The meat ball was a soggy mess, very well underdone. Wife suggested I return the dish and ask for soemthing else on the menu. I decided against doing that because I had already lost my appetite. Very disappointed.
I've been to the new Coop twice since it opened. I am a fan but I really can't afford to come here that often.
The first time I had a grilled chicken sandwich from the specials list that was very good. The chicken was moist, the bread flavorful, and the portions reasonable. My only food grievance was that the sandwich was accompanied only by tortilla chips. They were good but nothing different than what you'd get in a taqueria where the food costs much less.
Today, I had the salade nicoise special and, truly, it was superb, if not authentically "nicoise." Instead of the shaved tuna you typically find in Nice, the Coop provided a generous amount of seared ahi. The remaining ingredients mostly were chopped, including the lettuce, and tossed in an excellent vinaigrette. Again, not the presentation you'd expect in Nice, but well worth the eating.
Based on the two meals, I'd give this place four stars for the food. However, and this is a big however, I think the prices pretty exorbitant for a place where, essentially, you serve yourself. The sandwich and soft drink were over ten bucks (and the soft drink is about $2.50 by itself), and the salad with a soft drink ran nearly twenty dollars. For that kind of money, I can eat at nice sit-down places and get service that is differentiated from the Pizza Hut's. Here, I stood in line, picked out my own table, grabbed my own setup from a station near the soft drinks, filled and refilled my own drink, and delivered my food to myself. If I'd come back to ask myself how things were going and then asked if I wanted coffee afterwards, I'd have tipped myself.
So, good food, but once the novelty wears off, it's hard to imagine as many people spending this amount of money to stand in line and then to buy food at these prices. Back in the day when all of our options weren't underwater, maybe, but not so much now!
Bumped this up a star because one of the owners was nice enough to contact me to let me know the Coop is now open.
I'm sure I'll give this place more stars once I pay a visit because you can't go wrong with Sonoma Chicken as long as you get the Carbonara, Calamari, and fondue dessert.

Open up already so I can get my Chicken Carbonara on!
Please and thank you.
Went back here on my 21st birthday 2 days ago, it was an amazing experience of course. They noticed we had a pretty big party so we got a private room which was nice because we were pretty loud. The food was good like always. Lime grilled chicken is my favorite now + calamari. Seriously, don't even bother going to the other Sonoma Chicken Coops, just come to the Skyport one :)

I love this place. The chicken is good, service is quick. I like their specials. If they offer Chicken Asada again, you gotta try it.
