Whenever I'm at my company's headquarters during lunch and don't want to drive, Song's is the the only place to go. At least I think it is. Regardless, it's the only place that I know that is within the 4 office buildings grouped together on Airport Blvd, so Song's wins.
Yes the ladies can be rude, but as long as you know what you want to avoid verbal conversation you're good. I don't mind their prices either.
Personally, I like their sandwiches. Their selection is pretty good too. However, that's all I eat there so I have yet to try anything else.
If you work in one of the adjacent buildings, then go here. If not, you have no reason to go.
It's not the best food I've ever eaten, but when I'm hungry and didn't bring my lunch I don't mind. Some of the specials are quite good, and some I would never order again. It's a hit or miss type thing, but if you don't mind the soup nazi wife, then it's not bad. Watch the prices though, I've been charged the wrong price, and given the wrong change on numerous occasions.
Wait--Vicki L.--there is a vending machine on the 4th floor???????
This little deli is owned by a Korean couple named, yup, you guessed it--Song. When you walk in, the lady will yell something at you. Do not be alarmed. She is actually saying, "May I?", which I guess is her abbreviated version of, "May I take your order?"
Song (the lady) makes great breakfast sandwiches. I like the croissant sandwich with ham, egg, and cheese. They also have bagels, different types of toast, breakfast plates, and breakfast burritos.
Song's daily specials are as follows:
Monday - Italian (spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli)
Tuesday - American (meatloaf, turkey, mashed potatoes)
Wednesday - Asian (bibimbap, stirfry)
Thursday - Mexican (tacos, enchiladas, rice, beans)
Friday - Japanese (salmon teriyaki, California roll).
Sandwiches are made to order (try the Ensenada!) and the quality of the food is alright. I have a sneaking suspicion that most items are purchased from Costco. But like Liz K. said, it's a decent option if you're hungry and in a hurry.
Prices went up today.
Sandwiches - $5.50 instead of $5.00
Daily specials - $6.50 instead of $5.75
Bummer.
Meh. Unfortunately there aren't too many places that are within walking distance near my new work place. Which in comparison, makes this building look so shoddy in my opinion! Like my lovely co-worker David S., said in the bottom.... not much of a choice when you forget lunch and it's either Song's or the 4th floor vending machine.....
Sandwiches are mediocre, quality if hit and miss. I'd reward them another star if we don't consistently get sick here.
Oh yeah... and if I order a grilled cheese with ham, and they forget the ham. They don't make a new one. They pry open that sandwich and toss in a slice of ham. Yeche!
This place is utterly disgusting. Friday's they usually have California Rolls and I've never had a crunchy underripe avocado until now. It was hard as a rock and stuffed in the roll. Utterly DISGUSTING!!!
Tucked into the 1st floor of this office building is Song's, selling soup, sandwiches, salad, and other American-ish lunchtime fare. They have daily meal specials and on Wednesdays, it's Asian food!
Friendly husband and wife duo make for an efficient ordering and payment process. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and late-lunch snacktime. It's moderately priced, fresh enough ingredients and if you're in walking distance, a great quick option.
A great little deli if you work nearby and have had your driver's license suspended or both legs amputated. The sandwich ladies are famously rude and monosyllabic, and not in the picturesque way that will make a good story. The best part is that all prices round to the nearest $0.50 -- bliss for those dependent on coin laundry.
If you need a sandwich.....and you work in the building....
It's like PG&E, there aren't a lot of choices.
--- My Ratings Are Relative ---
Fine dining Song's is not, but I've grown to love my visits over there. Mostly because the folks behind the counter, especially the loud lady, give this place character that's missing in so many other restaurants. She IS intimidating on a first visit but after a couple visits, you realize this is all part of her charm, and she's often funny as hell.
The quality is hit and miss, but they at least offer variety. I work across the street -- hitting Song's abt 2 days a week -- and I still haven't worked through their entire menu.
Let's face it -- this is not going to be anyone's destination, but for a quick bite at lunch, it does the job and the staff makes me laugh.
Quick note: Song's delivers breakfast sandwiches and fruit to our office every morning. When we had furious storms in early January, all business parks in this area lost power. Song still bundled up in parkas, wrapped the sandwiches, and walked in driving rain from his cafeteria to our office to deliver the sandwiches.
This is like the Asian version of the soup Nazi from Seinfeld. God forbid you ask this cranky old man for a receipt, he will give you the stank eye for sure. And his lovely (by lovely I am being nice & not calling them something else) assistants are even worse! They bark at you & then get pissed if you ask them to hold the mustard & pickles. Song's needs some help for sure! In the budget, 5 bucks for sandwich, but geeze they can make you feel like you need them more than they need you. Also, the place is the size of a bus stop, which makes the line flood out the door!
Good "One"
