3 reviews for Solo Bistro
Solo Bistro is the high end restaurant in Bath. It has very simple decor, super smooth wooden tables, and on the one back wall 3 outdoor rugs hanging. That had me laughing.
They also offer a 3 course price fix meal for $22 and on Wed nights for $16. The price meal included parmesan arugula salad, flank steak with Spanish rice, and a raspberry éclair. We also ordered the crab empanada, vegetable risotto, and the lemon pudding cake.
The crab empanada was so hot, it was hard to taste if it was crab or pork inside. The chimichurri sauce that came with it was insanely good. We even poured it on our bread to keep the flavors going.
The main dishes were really good, but the only thing we didn't like was the Spanish rice. The flavors in the rice just didn't blend together.
The highlight of the meal was the lemon pudding cake with Maine blueberries on it. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. I need to find a recipe for it; it was that good.
Overall, including a bottle of wine, the meal was around eighty dollars. Not too bad for a birthday celebration!

It is upscale fare for mid-coast, prepared in an open kitchen at the rear of the restaurant. The decor is nice with Angela Adams rugs (or good knock-offs) on the wall - nice service pieces too.
Food was good, actually fantastic for Bath. There were some misses: an entree was served on a bed of overly seasoned cabbage; the goat cheese & tomato salad's tomatoes didn't seem as "heirloom" and ripe as led to believe- it was September when perfect tomatoes abound in New England.
I had a venison ragout that was delicious and others had the prix fixe, which was filling, delicious and a good value. Some at the table were freaked out by the idea of a peanut butter chocolate cake, but it successfully transcended the notion of Jif - it was amazing.
Solo offers a diverse and imaginative menu served in crisp, elegant surroundings, but the minor glitches prevent me from giving that 5th star. I will definitely go back and probably find that 5th star.

Solo Bistro is a little out of my price range, but for an occasional splurge for a romantic dinner, it is just the spot. I enjoy the prix fixe meals, with three courses. The food is creative, delicious, and interesting. I ordered a cappuccino with dessert and it came with a rock sugar stirrer. By far, it is the best place to eat in Bath. I wish that they served lunch too.
I loved that when we walked in, there were these velvet curtains hanging in a circle around the entrance. Very cosmopolitan.
