Yes, it is as good as it gets here at Solage.....Just go on in for a glass of wine and observe the fabulous surroundings, the wonderful service, the thought and detail which has gone into creating a true escape from stress.
Set in the quiet northern end of the Napa Valley on the Silverado Trail, this resort is contemporary in design without being cold. Each bungalow is private without being remote. An example of an 'extra' included would be the pair of bicycle cruisers parked outside each room.
An evening wedding was beginning while we were relaxing outdoors in the cushy outdoor bar between the bocce courts and olympic pool. All of the guest's activities were accomodated without degradation of each experience. Fabulous.
Escape the stress of our modern world for the peace and respite found here.
This place is hands down first class amazing. We went to the spa for a girl day and ended up staying the night. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, the pig shared platter was excellent as was the fried chicken dinner (Tuesday night special). We had four women and ordering the chicken dinner for two was more than enough for all of us.
Another thing that I really liked about this resort was how incredibly friendly all of the staff were. They made an effort to remember my name and were always smiling and asking if I needed anything. I loved it.
The suite was beautifully appointed, I loved the outdoor seating area for two and the lovely, deep, soft beds. They leave water with mint by the bed, which is awesome when you wake up with wine mouth. ;)
Pretty pricy, but you can swing off season and mid-week rates that aren't too bad. I highly recommend taking advantage of the spa as well. A great stay.

Solage is my favorite place to stay in Napa, and I've stayed at a lot of places including Calistoga Ranch (I really loved this place too, but at around $1200+/night, it's not someplace I frequent often...ehem), Auberge du Soleil (stuffy), and Carneros Inn (nice, but a bit of a weird layout).
The last time we stayed at Solage, we got a complimentary upgrade to a suite which featured a lovely cottage with it's own private fenced-in yard and hot tub. Solage is also dog-friendly, so our Welsh corgi enjoyed his time sniffing out his personal space.
Solage is conveniently located near Calistoga and is within walking distance to the town center as well as key wineries. You can also hop on the free bicycles they provide, which is a great and relaxing way to get around.
Do check out the spa if you have time as well.
Tip: Check Solage's Twitter account before you book, as they often note special deals http://twitter.com/sol...

I loved staying at Solage. Calistoga is so cozy and small and refreshing and Solage is the perfect place to just relax and get away from the city for a few days. Waking up there each morning feels awesome and the views are beautiful. I love the fact that they are dog friendly and the little cottages are adorable and again, soooo relaxing.
My favorite part - the beach cruisers outside everyone's cottages. Definitely take a ride into downtown and grab some coffee or dinner and then bike back. The pool, lounge, facilities are all super nice and the staff are very friendly.

The Napa Valley area is ever-more a world class destination what-with the addition of Solage Calistoga Resort & Spa. If wine, biking, shopping, dining, swimming and/or spa services are your 'thing', you should consider this property.
I have stayed at other 'worthy' resort properties in The Valley: Auberge, Meadowwood, Calistoga Ranch....just to name a few. While Solage is still the 'youngest' of the 5STAR Valley destinations, based upon my visits/stays - the staff is most cordial and supportive to any/all needs.
On a recent trip to The Valley during a business week in SF, and traveling as a single male, I met up with a couple from my home town who were spending 3 days/nights for wine touring. We decided to give SOLAGE our entire attention and basically devoted our non-wine touring time to the property: SOL Bar, The Spa, Pool, bikes and all dining needs. We were NOT disappointed.
We swam each morning in the 'family' pool, did several work outs on-site, had massages and used the clothing optional (separate genders) pools, adjoining the spa treatment room areas. These areas also have mineral pools, plunge and steam rooms (there are steam rooms, also) within the changing rooms at the main entrance to the Spa desk. Frankly, I never thought I would enjoy laying out, with other guys present, and attempting to get 'an all over tan'. It was fantastic.
My compliments to Tim, one of the massage therapists on property. I had an 80 minute massage (if I remember, correctly - LOL - I fell asleep!)
Pricey, yes. Worth the expense (?), yes. Just remember - when you seek a spa experience, and arrive with the anticipation that you will be pampered - Solage should exceed your every expectation.
Salute.

almost palm springs.
ok, so our rooms were not ready but we got some lemonade after hitting the local designer outlet malls. 6 girls for a fun bachlorette weekend was kicking off.
the scene was beautiful and calming. a wedding was taking place next door in a separate ballroom. there were families and some couples.
we cracked open some nice whites that we brought along and laid out by the pool.
the service was for the most part spotty. does my searing following eyes mean that i'm interested?
one server was super friendly and attentive or we'd get some er, um not so great one.
the main pool area was not salt water. two ladies advised me to not come in due to the clorine. thankfully, the water in the spa pools were all mineral and bleached blonde friendly.
the spa services were pretty good...my masseuse was not into talking. i like to chatter but i had no choice other than to listen to soft ambient music. think enya.
the work out facility was small but had pretty much everything. i loved the slices of lemon in the water and free headphones. i would caution to wear shades or choose one away from the sun since it was pretty strong and could be tough on eyes at certain times of the day. the room charge included free morning yoga classes.
the rooms were a clean white modern look. no fireplace but there was a nice and large stone floor shower room. i loved that we could open up the front window panels to step out onto a sundrenched patio. we also got two cruiser bikes to check out the resort. how fun!
i docked a star for...
our room keys not working...twice. it's a big pet peeve...
at over 600$ a night, i didn't mind pulling out the diva card.

Thank you Solage for making our Team Spa Outing the best. I booked rooms for 23, spa treatments, wine tours, meals etc.. and Solage not only was there for me every step of the way with all of my changes, but the service once there was amazing. Thanks!
My fiance/wife and I stayed here during our wedding weekend in Calistoga. Our cottage was fantastic, the service was wonderful and the location was perfect. The only problem was that we couldn't stay longer to take advantage of the bicycles, the spa and all the other amenities.
My three best friends and I returned from a weekend at Solage Calistoga Resort and Spa. One of the girls is getting married and we decided to spend a weekend in Napa. Solage Calistoga is the perfect resort for a group of girls, weekend getaway, or a honeymoon. The resort is very chic, modern, quiet, and clean, no matter if you are in your room, lounging at the pool, eating a delicious meal at Sol Bar, or being pampered at the spa.
When we arrived Saturday morning, we were greeted by two gentlemen who took our keys, showed us to our private cottage, and while we were enjoying the view from our patio and roaming around the large room, they brought all of our luggage from our cars to the room with a smile on their faces. Both men asked if there was anything we needed and also informed us of a few activities taking place at the resort that evening, as well as where certain facilities were located throughout the resort.
Prior to our spa appointments, we laid on the chaise lounge chairs spread amongst the entire pool deck. The pool water was very refreshing as it contains salt versus chlorine like a traditional public pool. We ordered lunch poolside and the food was excellent. Typically 'pool food' is okay and nothing to rave about, yet satisfies the pool hunger. However, every dish we ordered tasted as if we were eating at the Sol Bar restaurant inside the resort. Another girl and I had the Margareta pizza which consisted of a very thin crust, covered with small amounts of sauce and cheese, followed by fresh basil sprinkled on top. Another girl had the chicken chips and fries (yes this was actually on the kids menu, yet delicious in taste!). The fries were thin and crispy. The bride-to-be had shrimp lettuce wraps that included fresh ingredients and were refreshing in taste.
Later in the afternoon we each enjoyed the 'Back to Life' spa package. The package began with a restorative soothing facial, followed by a detoxifying mud wrap, and ending with a purifying message. All three treatments were quite delightful and relaxing. I did not want to leave after my message. I want to make note that one is able to request the order of their treatments if partaking in more than one treatment.
That evening, we enjoyed a dinner at Sol Bar. We sat outside and enjoyed refreshing drinks, appetizers and a meal. All items were exquisite in taste.
The following morning we lounged by the pool one last time, packed our bags, and left around Noon, as we requested a late check-out. Throughout the weekend, no matter if we were in our room, lounging poolside, or eating at Sol Bar, the entire staff at Solage Calistoga was friendly and went over the top to ensure we enjoyed our stay at the resort. We had a wonderful weekend in which we all said to one another as we were exiting the parking lot, "When can we return?"
Amazing. I'm moving in. If I could stay here permanently I absolutely would. Plush beds, cruiser bikes, lovely patios. And the staff!! Every single person I encountered was so friendly. (Me while checking in) "Can I borrow a decanter?" 10 minutes later it's at my door. (Me calling) "Can I have half a dozen or so extra wine glasses delivered to my room?" Less than 5 minutes later a nice smiling guy was at my door with his little bicycle driven cart so I could pour special wine for our big group. Cottages near each other? No problem. Staff at the pool smiling and refilling our wine glasses constantly? Absolutely.
This place is my own personal version of heaven, and I can't wait to go back. Tomorrow :)

Solage is wonderful. Expensive yes, but worth every penny. My friend and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed everything that Solage had to offer. On our first day, we had some treatments at the spa and spent the afternoon at the clothing optional spa pool! Awesome! Our room was clean, modern, and comfortable. We used our cruiser bikes the next day for a quick ride into town and then ordered lunch from SolBar. The food was delicious and we regretting not having dinner there the night before. All of the staff was so accommodating and helpful, the grounds are peaceful, and I cannot wait to return!
This is the ONLY place we've ever gone back to, from Big Sur up to Napa. No doubt the rates are good, pricey, but not crazy like a few other places. But what stands out is it's minimalism and it's spa services. It doesn't have the fire logs for your fireplace, the wood or faux wood paneling, or extra froofy take home bath products.
What it does have is a pretty robust workout room that opens into courtyard, a floor to ceiling dance mirrored room (for yoga, pilates etc) that also faces the courtyard, and just OK bath products. We also thought of all the places we've visited, Solage has some of the better masseuses. Allison got rid of the knot in my shoulder and the Thai woman spent serious time on the BF's twisted calf muscle, like as requested. Totally on point with our requests, unlike other spas where they pretty much give you a light rub down no matter what you say. Their eucalyptus steam rooms (the BOMB) are serious business, as are the segregated clothing optional OUTDOOR hot baths. Whoo hoo! There's a heated co-ed pool, if you still need together time outside. But yeah, kudos to Allison!
So we went early in the day up the much more pleasant Silverado Trail (skip 29), worked out, steamed, got superior massages, steamed some more, and super cleaned before checking in and parking our butts on the individual cottage patio in the super soft robes. They're like little puppies hugging you, really. The restaurant is quite messed up at the hotel, so stay away from it. We dined in St Helena and then passed out while waiting for "Marley and Me" to resolve itself. Great relaxing time away. Take the bikes out to downtown Calistoga but watch out for the drunks on the road. Go for the workout and the massage, but remember, it's more minimal than most.

beauiful place. the rooms are soooooo clean (I loved the floor). You get your own cottage and 2 bikes, and I just loved that. We came with our kids, but I think if you want to have your second honeymoon you should definetely come here!!!
This place is nice but it's really expensive--and I don't know if the price is justifed.
I stayed here for a trip that I won via my work..so hey it free! Otherwise, we wouldn't shell out the cash for this place at 400 + per nite.
The little cabins are cute...we had one of the 'mira' rooms and the king bed was comfy. I liked how we could lay in bed and look out the sliding glass door to our patio. However, there were some other rooms who's patio was facing the parking area or the sidewalk we used to walk to/from the parking lot. That would have sucked..and i'm pretty sure the price isn't less. I wouldn't want to look out on that from my bed or while I relax on my patio.
What I can't figure out is why there's a couch in the bathroom instead of a bathtub. For the money you're paying it would be nice to have a tub to soak in.
Also the fireplace is'nt really a fireplace..it's more like a faux wood burning stove in the corner....but it was nice to turn on in the chilly nites. Otherwise, the rooms are nice and have a clean feel.
The bikes were a great feature of the resort and we took full advantage of them riding up the silverado trail. the location is with in easy ride of at least 5 wineries. It's also a ride into town so the locale & bikes are a big plus.
The staff was okay. The check in girls were rude, the room service pepole were speedy and nice and the check out was uneventful. We hade dinner in teh resturant and while it started out a bit weird with our waitress she wound up being alright.
So Great location, love the bikes and the room we had was nice, though I could see some people having issues with theres. ...i don't think we'd go back simply becaue 3 nites there is our monthly rent.

Ok, so you would think for $500+ per night, that you'd have a nice clean room. When we checked in, that was the case. The place is nice, the room was nice. What you'd expect from the price tag. Very nice first impression.
I know it's most likely a freak experience, but when we came back from dinner there were bugs in our room. My girlfriend hates bugs. I spent about a half hour walking around the room checking for new bugs and killing them. Then I called the front desk. They said they'd send someone to spray around the unit. After another hour of killing bugs we were discussing leaving. Then I saw a spider. After the first spider, another one showed up and jumped onto the bed. Seriously. You can't make this stuff up.
We packed up and left.
The manager called the next day and gave us a full refund. They get 2 stars because they handled the situation well, but bugs are really not acceptable.

Despite my apprehensions about dropping so much dough on a hotel (I'm in hotels all the time for work and do not appreciate nice ones much), we ponied up because it was a birthday.
They had a $295 promo which included mineral pool access (they charge extra for that?) AND continental breakfast (which otherwise would have been $50).
The rooms are standalone bungalows which are very cozy and modern. You can put you robe on in your room and walk to the pools. Very relaxing. The co-ed pool requires bathing attire but the men's and ladies ones are clothing optional.
Even when someone didn't get the memo and disrobed in the co-ed pool, we were so chilling that we didn't say anything. The staff did.
All in all, a very cool place. At $295, I'll be back.
Auf.

What a great hotel. From the individual bungalows, to the modern design of the bar and lobby, Solage had everything. I think the best touch was the two beach cruisers at each bungalow. I know we definitely made use of them and rode downtown and had a picnic in the park there. The lot was pretty large holding about 90 bungalows but you still felt like you were away from the other rooms. The interior of the rooms were decorated very modernly and in a style that I really like. The best was very comfortable.
The pool area was very nice and relaxing as well. All of the wait staff were very nice and helpful. I can't wait to get up to Calistoga again soon.

Solage in Calistoga is a beautiful spot for a wedding. There is a nice open grassy area surrounded by beautiful gardens. As a backdrop for your wedding photos you have the beautiful Napa Valley hills. The spot is sunny and it can get hot in Calistoga, but when we performed there last weekend we noticed that there was a bucket full of parasols and fans for the guests to enjoy. Jennifer the coordinator for the day was helpful and friendly to us. We would enjoy playing more weddings there.
This hotel was very quiet, calming and relaxing. Its pretty new and located not too far from Napa. The rooms are very minimalist and well designed. The linens were pretty nice but the bathroom was the nicest part of my room. The volume ceilings helped a lot (cottages). The cobblestone shower floors and openness were a very nice surprise.
Went to the spa early in the morning and got to try the eucalyptus steam room. Very invigorating. The service was OK and the massage (solage massage) was about a 3/5. Didn't get to try the hot springs, maybe next time.
Will definitely consider this hotel again the next time I decide to stay in the area.
I was updating reviews for repeats and couldn't resist adding that I recall the manager followed up on our stay/comments for this "resort". It was a classic example of "Let me tell you why your perceptions are wrong" call. It's always great to share your opinion with people only to be told why it's inaccurate! :)

What else can I say about the amazing place we held our wedding ceremony and reception other than, hands down, this place was the best choice we could have made and we couldn't have been happier.
Katie Collord, our coordinator, was fantastic and made the entire process, from planning months ahead to the day itself, an absolute breeze. We probably had one of the least stressful weddings anyone has ever had in history, and we owe so much to her and her attention to detail.
Their pool is the best I've swam in in wine country, and the grounds are impeccable (although if you look REAL closely at the place from a distance - it REALLY DOES LOOK LIKE THE OTHERS CAMP FROM LOST!!!!!!)
All in all, one of the best things about getting married here and starting our honeymoon here is that we now have an excuse to come back here every year or wherever we like to celebrate our absolutely amazing and perfect day!

This review is solely for the wedding/special events/catering dept.
My fiance and I were extremely excited to schedule a site visit to Solage Calistoga in mid-January (Jan. 24, to be exact). Of all the venues we saw (5 in two weekends - feel sorry for him now), and all the venues I researched ("Here Comes The Guide - Northern California" has 800 pages of venue descriptions - seriously, feel sorry for him now), we felt that this was THE one. It had everything we were looking for - awesome chef (who would actually be working on our wedding meal), beautiful location, wonderful look and feel, and smack dab in Wine Country.
When we got there, the sales manager (who I will not name) was welcoming and courteous, but could not answer a fair number of questions. This probably should have been our first warning sign. We left extremely excited and knew after approximately 10 miles of driving that we wanted our wedding here.
However, apparently it was not meant to be. My biggest complaint/criticism of this place is how unprofessional and unresponsive the events dept. is. On average, it took several emails and phone calls over the course of a few days to receive a response each time. Yes, we were attempting to negotiate certain items - but the total amount of savings from those negotiations was very minimal. We were fully prepared to meet the F&B minimum as well as secure a 10-room block.
The experience ended adruptly a month later, with the sales manager calling to tell me that, "Unfortunately we are unable to contract your wedding. I am not privileged to share information on why." To which I replied oh-so-eloquently, "Are you f-ing serious?"
We understand that business sometimes does not work out. That is fine with us. What is unacceptable is the way Solage handled the entire process. Not once did we ever receive any inclination that there were problems with the contract or that they felt they might not be able to meet our wedding needs. To be told, on a late Friday afternoon, that suddenly "We cannot contract your wedding" - and then to not even offer any sort of explanation - is absolutely unprofessional, unacceptable and completely ridiculous. It took us three phone calls and a Google search to locate the GM, after which we FINALLY received an "explanation" from the GM, senior sales manager and sales manager. We were told that they were "afraid they couldn't meet our bottom line" - which is fairly ironic, considering we gave a wide range for our "bottom line." If you are in the client service business, isn't it proper business etiquette to OFFER your client/potential client your bottom line and see if they can meet you - instead of just saying, sorry, peace out?
Perhaps we are not "Platinum Weddings"-enough for this place. Perhaps they just didn't want to deal with the hassle of not having someone blindly agree to everything they were suggesting. But c'mon - we are in a recession. To steal from my fiance, "Are phones really ringing off the hook at luxory resorts right now?"
I'm tacking on an extra star (since Yelp doesn't let me give zero stars) for the sheer beauty of this place. This was an absolute disappointment and I hope other people do not experience what we did with the sales dept.

this was the bfs xmas present to me and i was excited! it was dog friendly, we were going to get mud baths, go wine tasting, they had bikes for exploration - it seemed to have it all! there was a special going on that included the one night stay and spa too!
solage is set at the foot of some hills and it almost feels like you are in palm springs. a bit desserty. we arrived on saturday afternoon and there were a bunch of people out and about the property. we took the bikes out for a ride to downtown. then we went to sit in the hot tub by the pool. it was very serene. our cottage didnt seem to share any walls with another cottage though i think some may. there is a small patio area where you can lounge. the rose bushes made it a bit awkward going in to pick up kodys poop. thorny!
the next morning we did the mud bath. you choose some aromatherapeutic oil to add to the mud then go to a room, apply the mud and wait for it to dry. after 20 minutes, you rinse and move to the mineral bath. two bathtubs were filled for us. we soaked for 10 minutes, though we couldve use more time. then we moved to the relaxing chairs. this part was a bit weird they played spacey music and the chair tilted so you could relax.
i would definitely come back. though at the very end when we were checking out they hit us with a hidden fee. on the website they kept saying they welcome pets, they are pet friendly, they put out a dog bed and bowls for them. but they dont tell you they charge $75 per pet at the very end. next time we might not even tell them. kody doesnt even sleep in the pet bed. hidden fees are just plain evil

If you want to splurge a little for a wine country getaway, Solage should be one of your top choices. There are a few things that I don't quite like: the landscaping resembles a desert with scattered woodchips, the resort is separated from a trailer park by a rather low wooden fence, the individual cabins resembles enlarged dog houses, and the pathways within the resort are a bit windy and sometimes you CAN get lost.
But you know what, there are so many pros to this place that all the above doesn't even matter. Let me name a few:
1 - Fabulous service. From the concierge to the pool boys/girls to the gym, everyone was very accommodating to our needs and requests. For example, the concierge worked with our limo driver to work out something when we were about 30 minutes late to Calistoga, and when the water ran out in the gym, the gym maid came in with cups of water with straws for everyone working out.
2 - The gym has incredibly new machines, with all the cardio machines laced with a television.
3 - A very decent-sized pool with fabulous service.
4 - Modern interior decor in the dog houses...I mean, cabins. Some of you may not like the granite floor, but I surely do. Each cabin has its own individual porch as well, to just hang out and enjoy the weather.
5 - The full-length mirror makes you look tall and skinny. I'll take that any day...

Arrived on a Friday night. We were greeted immediately with bottles of cold water.
The check-in process was quick and painless. The resort definitely looks brand new.
The room itself is roomy (we upgraded to the Adara Studio, which is away from the main area for some peace and quiet) with a small fireplace, a tub, and a good size shower. The studio also came with a nice flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod dock. The patio is wide open with little or no privacy.
We ordered room service the next morning and it arrived right ontime, but nothing to write home about.
We then went to the Solage Spa for some couples treatment. I had the Deep Tissue and he had the Swedish. Both were excellent. The spa itself was very clean and the waiting area comfortable and relaxing. But the best part was the huge mineral springs pool. The water must have been 90 degrees - it was awesome!
The bikes that came with each room was a nice touch. We rode around one night, completely in the dark. With the resort being in the middle of nowhere, and therefore with little artificial lighting, we were able to see the Milky Way and millions of stars.
All in all, a nice experience though personally I prefer the Carneros Inn...

NOTE: I'm an incredibly patient person and I try to write more positive reviews....so as to not only note the downside of things, but.....
So, on our quest to finding our wedding venue...Joe was highly intrigued to visit Solage.
Our first visit there was just to have a look around, because we were "in the neighborhood" (looking at another resort nearby). When we came across Solage, we were in awe. So modern, gorgeous surroundings, clean, new, the sleekest cruisers (you can see them gleam from roadside) neatly parked on your doorstep. HOT!
So, Katie, the events coordinator, was in a scheduled meeting, so another gentleman, I believe his name is Juan (sorry, we forgot his name), was kind enough to give us a packet and a brief tour of their facilities. We were very interested at this point and wanted to make arrangements for a formal meeting in high hopes of reserving the space for our special day.
Joe and I emailed her, telling her that we were very impressed with the space and wanted to meet with her. She quickly responded with an email, so I called to set up an appointment. Got her on the phone and set a time and day.
We were excited, check book in hand and ready to begin our wedding plans. The 1 1/2 hour drive was more becoming a 2 1/2 drive. We called her and left her a message on her answering machine telling her that we were running late, okay so an hour late. We hit a little bit of traffic and of course, every possible scenario happen that slowed us down...keeping note of forewarning our guests of only having one lane for miles.
When we arrived we were greeted by Mark , the sales manager, who was our following meeting in hopes to block some rooms for us. He apologized, and told us Katie was sick that day and couldn't come to meet us. He proceeded to take us around, again.
After we left, til then, Joe realized how angry he was and felt like our morning was a complete waste of time, energy, hopes, and gas. We wanted to check to see, that maybe she had emailed us, excusing herself for not making it in that day, due to her illness.
Got home....no email, no call, and almost a week later, no follow up to reschedule.
Wow...maybe it's because I left my Gucci glasses in the car, or we didn't roll up in a suit, or our jewelry just wasn't flashy enough for them to believe that we could afford that place. I don't know, but they'll never know now.....guess our money wasn't good enough.
I am thankful for the two gentlemen that showed us around (whom deserved a star each) The other star is for the decor. I'm taking the other two for poor professionalism, from Katie, who we never got a chance to meet or heard from thereafter.

We spent our honeymoon nights there this past week and enjoyed the entire experience. From check in time to help with shipping our wine back - the staff was very accommodating and service oriented. I will have to say that Joel the bellman was exemplary. He has an ease about him that makes you very comfortable around him. Katerina also was very helpful in setting up winery visits.
The room was beautiful, the bikes were brilliant, and the dinner at SolBar was fantastic. The tuna with fresh peas was tasty as well as the chicken dish my husband had!
Nice experience!

Thank you Amy S. for hosting your wedding party at the Solage Resort last weekend. I spent the whole last day poolside (yummy geothermal pool), bloody mary in one hand and coffee in the other, scheming about how we could just live there some how. Will T. even practiced in Spanish what he would say to the housekeepers when they tried to kick us out, something translating roughly to: "I will give you $100 and a bottle of wine a day to please bypass our place!"
The SolBar restaurant food was excellent for both breakfast and lunch and the service was attentive and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices--especially given that the food is as locally grown and organic as possible. Breakfast was about $12 and lunch about $15.
And speaking of staff--the reception staff treated all of us there for the wedding like gold--for example, someone saw me making trips to the limo and came running outside to help me load my and the other bridesmaids' stuff.
Other special features I noticed are that they allow dogs (for a $75 extra cleaning fee) and the whole place is wheelchair friendly.
I tried not to sulk as we drove away, knowing that I don't really get to live here and that this is not a place I can afford to stay any old time I want , but I had to smile at our parting sight: a couple playing bocce ball in the sun, sipping white wine. This is the life, people.

Solage is a beautiful resort with a friendly and helpful staff. Attention to detail is apparent in the rooms, the spa and the restaurant. We had a wonderful stay.
I am a little biased, because my husband and I were married at Solage in January... I believe it was the first wedding they had hosted there. We were able to put together our wedding in six weeks, and were very impressed with the responsiveness and care we received from Katie Collord, the events coordinator. People said a stress-free wedding isn't possible, but this is about as close to it as I can imagine. We only had 35 guests and a very "basic" wedding that included a ceremony, cocktail hour and family-style dinner, but everything went off without a hitch. The staff in charge of the event was on call throughout the entire event, and special care was made to make sure everything went smoothly and to our specifications.
The day after our wedding, we were able to relax on the outdoor patio at SolBar as our guests stopped by before they headed out of town. Dogs and kids are welcome, and the staff seems happy to accommodate.
On top of having a blissful wedding day, we really enjoyed the spa and the restaurant. The food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We'll definitely be going back!

The staff was so friendly and seemed to fall over themselves to help assist us from booking reservations at the local vineyards who rolled out the red carpet for us upon arrival, to the wonderful spa treatments that we booked same day, to servicing our flat tire before we checked out! They met or exceeded everyone of our 'special requests' without any struggle. We even decided to stay another night!
The rooms are big, clean & I love that you do not share any walls. It's great to have your own patio & greet others riding by in the morning on their bicycles - which turned out to be my favorite part! Riding thru the vineyards on a proper bike..what a fun idea! We'll be back!
We loved every minute of our stay here - it was a mini-moon for our 5th year wedding anniversary and the staff were sooo nice and so genuine. Breakfasts are delicious - try the lemon ricotta pancakes - cheaper if you dine on their patio than have delivered. Bikes were the perfect touch and easy to take a back route into Calistoga for other off property options. Spa/yoga/pools and privacy - nice all around. We didn't even hear any of our neighbors considering the logistics of the section we were in. Room 14 - good location. Might have opted for one around the corner though so you don't get any of those people who can't walk on the pathway but need to walk through the gardens to get to their room. ;o)
I'm not a fancy spa/hotel type of guy, but came to appreciate the luxury that Solage affords its guests. The rooms are really fun and well furnished. The cruisers were fun to take out and cruise around town. The pool was enormous (do olympians really have to swim that far every lap?!?). All in all, quite nice. Worth the money? Eh, every once in a while, but I have a hard time understanding the other reviewers here who explain that they come here regularly. I guess we all spend our money differently...
One note: for a "green" resort, I was disappointed that they seemingly use those little bottles of water at every turn. They might consider serving filtered tap water instead if they really want to earn the green label.

Booked the time for 2 special - about $950 all said and done. room for 2, dinner at Solbar, and mudslide/massage the following day.
You arrive at this place - looks like the polygamy compound. Architecture of the place simple boxes w/ asphalt roofs. But the insides and the facilities are incredibly lush and the service very Ritz Carlton-like.
Pool was nice but crowded, poolside service good. Room was very minimalist contemporary. They give you a couple of cruzer bicycles which we used to bike into town.
Solbar was fair against same-type competitors, good if compared overall. Tableside service was good, but the reception staff not so great. The quality of the food was again - fair against same-type competitors - especially with such high end food available in that neck of the woods.
Go back again? Yup - when I can afford it.
I am an Interior Designer, and was fortunate to have worked for the firm who did the Interior Design for Solage Calistoga Spa Resort. The interiors is cool, hip, modern and warm.
Perfect for weekend getaways, bridal showers, etc...

We stayed at Solage last weekend for Amy S's wedding - it was totally awesome. We really, really enjoyed the very comfortable room and the enormous, warm, beautiful, relaxing swimming pool. We spent a few hours by the pool enjoying friendly service, beery delivery, and great weather before the ceremony. Each of the rooms comes with a pair of complementary cruiser bikes, which we put to good use on the short ride to "downtown". Inside, each room is well designed and very spacious. The shower room with pebble floors was one of my favorite parts, along with the plush bed.
We had breakfast at the Calistoga Roastery one morning, and enjoyed breakfast at the hotel restaurant the other. Our waitress at the outdoor tables was very friendly and fast enough that we never wondered where she was - not like you want to rush when you're sitting poolside on a gorgeous day. Amy S. organized a perfect wedding (naturally), so we had lots of fun in the bar with drinks and snacks. Overall the food and drink was excellent.
We stayed in room 47, which the staff at the front desk said was their favorite of all the rooms. Both 47 and 48 are end units located next to the pool, so they're quiet but very convenient to everything. I would definitely request one of them if we make it up there again.

The wife took me here for a night on my birthday. We were extremely excited to visit this property and we werent disappointed. The little cottage was perfect for the two of us. Plush linens, super comfy bed, heavenly bathrobes, and a great outdoor patio were the highlights. The complimentary access to the mineral baths, fitness center , and fitness classes were also nice. We will definitely be back if we need a nights stay in the area.

Solage is a really cool modern place that just opened in Calistoga July 2007. We stayed there since it was literally at the start line for the Napa Valley Marathon. Every one has their own little studio with a patio and these nice pebble-floor showers. I was also super excited about the bikes they give you to ride around the hotel premises. The Olympic size swimming pool was definitely a highlight as well as the hot tub.
The only issue was we booked a room with two beds since there were four of us and when we got there they ended up putting us in a room with 1 queen size bed. All the other rooms were fully booked so we ended up having to cram 2 cots into the room. My advice is to confirm your reservation to make sure you don't get screwed like we did.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. What a wonderful experience! It was so romantic.
The minute we got there we were welcomed by the pleasant staff. They wished me happy birthday and had us on our way to our beautiful room in no time.
The facility and the surrounding landscape and views were breath taking. You feel relaxed the minute you drive into the parking lot. Our first hour there was spent sipping champagne on our patio enjoying the beautiful weather.
Oh and I have to add that there are bicycles located in front of each of the cottages for your convenience! You can take them and venture off wherever!
The spa experience was incredible. If you're looking for somewhere to go and relax, this is the place to be.
We are definitely looking forward to returning to Solage.
Timing is EVERYTHING . . . (check the date ofthis review, as opposed to others).
A friend of ours celebrated her birthday this weekend -- a BIG birthday --with a gathering of friends in the Napa Valley, staying at Solage. There were 24 of us, meaning we had LOTS of rooms here . . . .
HOTEL:
The architecht described his design as "Napa barn meets San Francisco loft." Hmmm . . . more like army barracks (or married student housing) meets SF loft . . . the rooms INSIDE were well designed, comfortable, spacious -- a little short on drawer/closet space was the only short-coming there. But the bed was wonderful, the shower very cool, the overstuffed chairs in the room were great, and the patio furniture comfortable.
One more benefit: a real coffee maker, with real coffee (not those pre-filled little envelopes/pods that claim to make 4 cups but if you like flavor, they really only make two), paper filters and a scoop!
We were in a "regular" room. Some of our friends has "suites," with a hot tub and an enclosed patio. (Hey, Solage: the fence should have a gate in it, so you don't have to walk all the way around . . . hint, hint.)
The pool is huge, the cabanas comfy, and the two bocce courts well-maintained. And the two one-speed bikes parked outside every room are a great way to get around the property (or into Calistoga, if you dare to brave the traffic after a day of wine tasting).
The staff is so friendly and helpful, they border on being "perky."
Yes, I'd stay here again!
RESTAURANT:
The food itelf was quite tasty, and room service was downright speedy. The menu is, however, somewhat limited-- both in the restaurant and for room service. Service in the restaurant itself, however, is S-L-O-W . . . (e.g.: Lynn ordered sour dough toast, wheat came on the plate, andthe waitress said she'd bring sour dough "right away" -- which apparantly means not until you are about to ask for the check.)
SPA:
Everything is very clean without feeling "sterile." The locker rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with showers and a steam room. The massage rooms themselves are filled with natural light, a nice change from those windowless rooms with artificial lights (no matter how "moody" they may be).
I can't speak to all the various massages on their "menu," but the hot rock massage was great, and everyone else in our party only said great things about theirs, too.

A solid four and possibly four-and-a-half stars.

We just stayed at Solage for two nights. We usually go to Healdsburg because it seems to have less tourist traffic than Napa. Since this hotel just opened and we heard raves about other Auberge properties we decided to check it out.
The rooms at Solage are really nice as are the pool and gym but the hotel would be much better if they didn't nickel & dime guests on other features. It is an "upgrade" to have a fireplace in your "studio" room, but the fireplace is just a small gas unit so it is not such a big bonus. I also don't know why all of a sudden hotels started only putting bathtubs in some rooms and then charging a premium for that. When you are already paying over 250.00 a night, a tub would be nice! Solage doesn't include breakfast with the room rate- I'm not saying they need to offer a giant meal but Hotel Healdsburg always has a little buffet included and the room rates are similar, if not a bit less.
I would try Solage again in the summertime because the layout of the hotel and the pool seem better suited to warm weather. I agree with the "barracks" feel that other people have mentioned but the interior decor makes up for it. Might just be the "newness" of the hotel and the fact that the landscaping is not mature. Having a trailer park next door doesn't help either! If you want a sprawling "resort" feeling without paying twice as much to stay at Calistoga Ranch or Auberge then Solage is a good choice. We didn't take advantage of the Spa but the facilities looked great and everything was spotless.
