I stumbled across this consignment by accident (never heard of it) while trying to avoid the 4th street crowds.  If you're looking for cute, quality clothing for work or play, this is the place to go. Like another poster mentioned, this is not the place if you're looking for F21 clothes or obvious trends.  I think the age range is quite wide depending on your personal taste.  They have a healthy selection of local designer, mainstream designer wear (saw a D&G sweater) and some mid range mainstream brands (Seven for all Mankind, Kenneth Cole, etc).  After dropping multiple dress sizes in a few months, I needed new clothes ASAP.

The days and times they the accept items is limited to two or three days a week at a specific time. Always call ahead to make sure they are accepting items and try to arrive a few minutes early.  Fifteen items is the limit and they took 13 out of 15 items I brought in!  The item they did not accept was an evening gown (they don't take formal wear) and a 12 year old coat with a missing button.

Most importantly, the staff is always friendly and accommodating.

This definitely fills the niche of used/thrifted/consigned/recycled/whatever clothes for the working woman in Berkeley.  They do a very good job of keeping the racks filled with only clean, "gently worn" office-casual and dinner-date clothes, leaving out the hipster, crazy vintage, college/teen/Forever21, and other styles that can be overwhelming on the racks at places like Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads when you're looking for things to wear to the office.  Mostly in the Banana Republic/Calvin Klein styles, but also with a selection of higher end brands like Margaret O'Leary that can be funky yet casual but still high quality, and some selected vintage pieces too that can be quite a find - get your Jackie O. look here!   i just went there this afternoon and got two very unique pieces that i bet i get TONS of compliments on.

It's definitely more conservative in style, which in my personal life I generally avoid, but if you're an artsy type who has to hold down a day job, this is a GREAT place to get some recycled office clothes.  if you have to "dress up" now and then but hate the thought of walking into a Banana Republic, this is a great alternative to shelling out $$$ on Bay Street.

I feel really bad tarnishing a perfect record, but this place just didn't impress me much.  First of all, I have philosophical qualms with any place whose central role is consumption of nonessentials (errr...arguable, OK) that calls itself "green."  That term is losing its meaning in all of its hipness.  I really thought these places were pushing it with the "recycled" euphemism.

There are some very unique pieces here.  Some great top designers, too.  But a lot of the higher end pieces seemed to be there because of the label stitched in rather than any discernable style.  One Barney's New York skirt is the exact replica of one I bought at Jeremy's for two dollars and then sold back to Crossroads a year later for sligtly more, and THAT was two years ago.  (Funny the journey these clothes take!  A minor fascination of mine).  I also found LEI jeans.  LEI?  And plenty of Forever 21 items (-Amy).  A strange mix, really.  On the upside, their Joe's Jeans were very competetively priced.  This is also a great place to pick up blazers - excellent selection.

The store has a great vibe, and I loved the music they were playing.  I will continue to stop in when I'm in the neighborhood to see if there's anything than stands out, but this is not a destination boutique for me.  Perhaps it comes down to the fact that it's a little older/more conservative than my style.  Fair enough.

I was not impressed by this store... I found it to be very Berkeley, hippie-dippie like... I bought a shirt that had a rip in the front for $20... rip-off... I liked it a lot though so I just bought it and they didn't give me any discount at all...  Overall, the clothes they buy I wouldn't wear except if I was a crazy 50 year old drugged out hippie that lives in Berkeley... I know of one and she shops here...

Heart it.  Make a nicely folded pile of the stuff you haven't worn in a year, bring it in, wait for it to sell, and buy new clothes with the consignment value.

Everyone here is super cool and it's a really nice place to find great stuff because it's near 4th Street.  (Just park on Delaware or another side street-- don't bother with the 4th street parking nightmare.)  There was a recent Friday where a dinner date was scheduled at the last minute and I couldn't go home after work to clean up.  I needed a top to replace my icky work shirt.  Ran in, found one, ran out, no cash out of my pocket.  Also I am a big fan of re-use recycle, and if you can look great while doing it, all the better.

Found a pair of Sevens here for 60 bucks!!!

Only two others have Yelped Sola Lucy before me, and the first review was only a couple of months ago? It must be a Yelp conspiracy to keep SL on the DL!

Over the years I have purchased some of my favorite local or Euro designer pieces from Sola Lucy. First, I look into the shops on Fourth Street and cry (not just because my Oaktown Booty don't fit in those size 2 jeans they sell at freakin' Margaret O'Leary's). On my nonprofit drone salary, can't buy nothin' ni jota, baby.  Then, I dry my tears and walk two blocks up Delaware and half an hour later, emerge from Sola Lucy with a smile and a recycled shopping bag full o'goodies.

Big plusses--I just started consigning at Sola Lucy--so I can keep the love thang going. And, Lucy hired the coolest girl in my high school (woot! woot! Shout out to Rebecca from Berkeley High).

I'll even give up my parking secret---park on or above 6th Street at Delaware.

I hesitate to give this cute boutique less than 5 stars, since it could really appeal to customers of an older, matronly generation.

But for a just-out-of-college-twenty-something-gal, I had a hard time finding clothes that I might actually wear.  I bought a light wool skirt from Banana Republic for a fraction of the original price that I could probably wear for a job interview, but other than that, didn't find anything else I liked.  I also felt awkward browsing the racks with women in their late 30s, 40s.  I didn't particularly feel as though I was finding higher quality brands either.

Seven jeans were about $60-75, which seems a bit pricey compared to Crossroads.  Both stores, however, rarely have my size.  Please stock up for those of us who wear size 24 or 25, please!

Yes!
wonderful selection of used and vintage clothes, many up-to-date items, lots of color and variety. great vibe inside the store, women chatting, plenty of rooms to try clothes on. I even brought my picky sister here and she found pants she loved. They also re-use shopping bags from other stores, which I think is great.
bought here-
Enzo Angiolini heels for $35
Just in time red textured jacket for $40

Found a pair of brand new frye platform leather wedge sandals for $60. When i zappo'd them when I got home, they were selling for $179. Only reason this gets 4 stars is because the worker told me I'd find them for over $300...maybe she really didn't know their retail price.  I'm happy to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Sola Lucy is my favorite place to find gently used clothing in the E Bay, and I've gone to a fair number of places! Recently got some brand new Rock and Republics for $55, Paper Denim & Cloth jeans for $40, and some Diesel for about the same. Have bought so many pairs of great shoes (Colleen Cordero, Donald Pliner) here as well. The employees and owners are really wonderful, tend to you but also leave you be in you are just in a browsing kind of mode.

What a wonderful shop off the stroller beaten path of 4th street! It's really only a short block east off the main drag. Definitely worth your while to stop in. They have a nice mix of designer and basic labels, and cool jewelry.

Trust me, I'm not the most patient person when it comes to shopping, but I do love a great find. One half-hour. One pair of Seven jeans, one pair of Frye boots, one pair of earrings. One very happy gal.

Consign: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Shop: Tuesday - Sunday 11AM-5PM (closed on Monday)

This is a great place to sell clothing. Not only is the staff really friendly, but they seem pretty consistent about what they take- no holes, stains and clothing that's in season. Basically stuff you would want to buy.

Plus they fill a consignment niche in Berkeley that wasn't there before -- hip clothing but not the type of stuff you would find at Buffalo Xchange or Crossroads (Sola Lucy's selection is not college-y). Like any consignment store, its hit or miss with what you can find to buy at any given time, but my my experience selling clothes here has been really positive :)

Well, first of all, selling clothing to a consignment shop is always somewhat demoralizing. I checked out this place based on yelp reviews and found it disappointing. The owner was nice enough, but her edits of my stuff (dirty label, teeny tiny spot, etc.) were just so inconsistent with the quality of the stuff I perused in the shop (worn through pants, white paint stained brown cordoroy pants, and a bead missing from a $59! indian top) that I just had to pack my bags and leave, even though she took a fair amount of my items. I just found the lot of offerings to be shabby at best and if you have good quality designer items, I suggest you take them to San Francisco instead! It's a step above, IMHO.
