Soft Spot is a great happy hour spot, usually the two for one drink special. Great location, alittle bit down Bedford between 9th and 10th near the park. Everything is very low-key, cute little garden. A great little find.

Cute outside space and great happy hour deals. The drinks are STRONG (which automatically gives a place 3 stars in my book) and it's easy to get to from the L and conveniently located near McCarren Pool.

I have been to this tiny, understated bar now twice and have enjoyed myself both times. Each time I was with one other person and we were seated comfortably at the bar and were able to talk the night away. I was surprised though that it kind of filled up on a Wednesday night!! The bartender that was there this time around was really nice (Mark was his name) and even chatted with me and my friend and when Stayin' Alive came on, he walked over to change the song, but then stopped, looked back at us and told us that he would at east have us do our shots to the song then change it. It was kind of funny!! The crowd seemed to be pretty friendly too. I spoke to at least three strangers there and everyone was in a calm, nice mood. Really, this is a nice spot to chill during the week I'd say.
This bar is in Williamsburg...perhaps the only place in Brooklyn where you are TRIPPING over bike stands everywhere!! The locals here like their bikes!!

adorable, low-key, good jukebox, and I think they have some board games. If this bar were in my neighborhood I would move in. 2 for 1 on tuesdays.
Cute as fuck, yo. It's what I dreamed Brooklyn would be like before I set foot here, back when I was a geeky California teenager. Dark and stormy yet totally delightful.
Also, for the record: I'm still geeky, just no longer a teenager.

The fact that this teensy, adorable bar is never packed to overfilling confuses me. Perhaps it's not pretentious enough?
The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, good bartenders, vintage-looking interior, an abundance of seating is always available, sometimes even at the bar; which is quite a rarity compared to other bars in the area.
Even though I think it's been around for a while, it still feels undiscovered. Lovely little neighborhoody bar. There's a Soft Spot in my heart for this place. And repeated visits will probably result in a Soft Spot in my brain. But that's ok.

cute spot. adorable garden! the staff is all very very nice and they have a great happy hour. just walk up a few blocks from the Bedford train station and you're there. i will definatly be frequenting Soft Spot more this summer.
I was turned off by it's Bedford Ave location for a long time and never went in. After a late Sunday dinner a couple weeks ago, we were looking for a cool place to grab a quick drink and totally found it. Good drinks, good prices, awesome bartender and great music. I recommend it over any other bar within a 5 block radius which, in that neighborhood, includes a LOT of bars. Can't wait to go back.

Should I ever move to Williamsburg, Soft spot would likely become a local haunt! Bartenders are often friendly, and dare I say it, kinda cute! Drinks are nicely priced, and beyond the bar and aside from the overall smallness, there are a couple places you could cozy up with close ones. Nevetheless, the inside is enchanting (if it's not packed) and their dog happily tolerates all the fuss going around, usually asleep on the back bench.
The only caveat (and likely what keeps this place a hidden secret)...
There's no real signage out front, and you have to watch for the 4 lights that tend to weakly outshine the "Soft" and "Spot"s printed over them! From across the street, the place appears hardly more than a black hole in the wall; if you blink you might miss it.

I met friends here on a Tuesday for trivia night and had a pretty good time. The incredibly surly bartender put a damper on things for my group, though. I wasn't drinking, but my friends were and I'm not exaggerating when I say she--completely unprovoked--threw a coaster at my pal. Trivia was fun, though. I'd probably go back to hear their pianist play. Cash only, kids.
The decor was rad and the seating was cozy. The music was absolutely horrible mainstream pop, like what you'd hear in a corny teen movie sequence where the nerdy girl is doing cool things for once and getting a makeover and you can tell she's actually kind of hot and the jock guy is starting to fall for her. But maybe that was a fluke.
The bartender was really good looking and seemed friendly to everyone else, so I don't know why he gave my husband attitude when he was ordering our drinks. Apparently, buying more than one drink is verboten at Soft Spot unless the bartender can see both of you at the same time. Weird.
I would maybe go back if the music weren't so horrible. I'll have to wait until next time to find out, I guess.
Friendly girls work behind the bar here, plus they were having 2 for 1 tonight, whoa danger. I especially like this place because people were just chilling with their dogs.

This would be my neighborhood hangout if this was my neighborhood. Until then, my incurable case of Williamsburg Envy will just have to be sated by regular visits to Soft Spot, like an out-of-town-cousin, or that random friend who just keeps showing up unannounced.

Good drinks, live jazz, karaoke, a piano, friendly barstaff, a cute dog, and a garden with an excellent swinging couch. Not much here that isn't to love, and the understated exterior seems to be keeping the overly pretentious element at bay, at least for now. Very nice during the 5-8 weekday happy hours, when the crowds are smallest and you might even get the garden to yourself for a little while.

went here last night for the first time (yeah i was drinking on tuesday... .so what!)
i loved the two-for-tuesday deal, and they have blue moon on tap. i will be visiting much more in the future!
watch out, it's hard to find. i walked past it twice before demanding via cell phone that my husband come outside to wave to me. they really need a sign!

i used to live 3 blocks from the soft spot, and walked by it countless time making a mental note to stop in one of these days. then i moved to south brooklyn. last night, after catching a show at mckarren pool, i finally made good on my promise to myself and to the soft spot and stopped in. i am now kicking myself for not hanging out here more often when it was so close by. this place is the IDEAL neighborhood bar. an amalgam of antique furniture, photographs of patrons, quirkly lighting, and oldie after oldie singing from the jukebox give soft spot the perfect vibe for chilling solo or chatting it up with friends and neighbors. we met the owner, who was extremely friendly and sold us on the dice game (a dollar a roll, one shot per night, the pot grows bigger with each roll). I peeked at the backyard patio, which sadly was closed due to the late hour of my patronage, and it looked perfect. a swing, a couch, a smattering of mismatched chairs and enough green to give it that w'burg garden oasis feel. i'm heading straight here next time i'm in my old hood, and you should too.
