Stayed here with my husband for our anniversary. The room was small but not cramped and the bathroom was both very large and very beautiful. I adore the glass-enclosed shower, and the tub was nice to have as well.  There was a votive candle and a sprig of fresh flowers in the bathroom, which were very nice touches! I was also very happy that their products (shampoo, etc.) were L'Occitane, on of my favorite brands. The towels were HUGE (probably what Shaq's towels are like, lol) but not quite as soft as I'd like. The complimentary slippers and cushy robe made up for that though!

The artwork in the room was tasteful and the TV nice and large. The bed was by far the best part. a feather blanket under the fitted sheet with a feather duvet on top and 4 king size feather pillows (of different firmness) all surrounded in dreamy soft sheets. I almost didn't want to leave the bed to actually go DO anything.

The only detraction from my stay was that you had to pay $8 for Wi-Fi. No, its not much money, but given what you are already paying to stay in the room, you think they'd throw it in.

The room was little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for! A wonderful stay!

The luxury of having somebody else pay for your accomodations means that you can evaluate your experience in a context free of price tags.  As this is the only context in which I have been priveleged to experience the Sofitel, I have to say it is an absolute first rate facility.  What stood out?

The bed in my room was quite possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.  The rooms, while modestly sized are well laid out, and the bathrooms are huge.  AWESOME shower.  Concierge handing out umbrellas at the front door while it was raining.  Fantastic central location.  Free computers in the lobby with internet.

They do pretty much everything right here.

Worth every shiny penny.

The service was excellent. The doormen were always courteous and friendly. I stayed here in February when it was insanely cold. The doorman would tell me to wait inside until he hailed a cab. I love being treated like a princess. ;) The concierge was extremely helpful and recommended some of the best restaurants. The room was a good size and extremely clean. The bathroom had double sinks, a shower and a tub (hard to find in new york). I love how housekeeping turns on classical music after they clean. I enjoyed coming back to calm relaxing room after a long day at work. I always appreciate the small gestures and details.

I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in town.

Whether on business or just in need to see the city lights the world envies and adores considering location, attention to detail, value, pricing, amenities, ...the sofitel NYC is a mighty fine choice.

The beds f8cking rock yo ass to sleep.
.. Are supportive enough to handle all of the alternates for the 2000 rhythmic gymnastics team and them some, have the most perfectly textured clean duvet and pillows and such a warm energy.

this room became a place I enjoyed to call home.

the smiles from the front lobby resonated throughout the building.
the clean, smart decorating. subtle, tasty, comforting.

the towels plush, the slippers and robes easy to fall into.

the marble bathroom floor. the separate shower stall and tub.

the lgc lcd with hboD

the bose wave alarm clock.

good price off Orbitz.

location to some late night lounging.

quiet. safe. secure in my mind.

...really, nobody hears me screaming?  thankmuchos for the phone extension next to the holey de shittes.

ooh. free evian on the nightstand.

how much is a burger from room service???? shut yo mouth! ;p

I just love this hotel!  It's the French's answer to the Waldorf=Astoria, but unlike the Waldorf, I really enjoyed staying here.

This is an upscale hotel that offers all of the amenities. The entry is gorgeous, the concierge is Cle D'or certified, and the doorman will hail a cab for you in the morning and take your bags to the car.  Those extra touches just mean so much.

The room was beautiful.  The bathroom had a marble floor, a bath tub, and a separate shower stall.  I detest tubs, so I was very excited to see the private stall with the glass door.  The bathroom was stocked daily with generous portions of Roger and Gallet oat milk soap bars, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion -- these are great products that I would actually use away from a hotel.

The bed was very comfortable too.  And I loved the Bose radio in my room -- Andrea Bocelli never sounded so good.  Also they offer 4 romantic upgrade packages to make the room even more spectacular should the occasion arise.

Fabulous hotel, highly recommend.  Rack rates were $285/night during my stay -- a bargain for Manhattan.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend in January.  One word impressive.  I am a flight attendant, so I spend half of my time in hotels, so it's hard to impress me.  Hotels are hotels...

Well not this one.  There are hotels, then there is the SOFITEL!  I like the fact that you are in the center of Manhattan, yet the street that it's on feels like it's off the beaten track.  You can escape from the chaos of it all to the comfort of your room.  The bathroom is impressive.  Candles and fresh flowers in the room were a nice touch.

The concierge  was very helpful in trying to find Greg and I cool spots to try in New York.  The entire staff was very professional and helpful.

If you want to splurge and treat yourself, this is the place where you get what you pay for!

I stayed here for 3 nights this past weekend and it was a perfect experience. The place is beautiful, service is excellent, and the location is quiet yet convenient. I especially enjoyed the bed, plush towels, and the turndown service - the music was a nice touch! This is my new go-to hotel when I'm in NYC.

I love this place and have been a customer since they opened. The Sofitel is a great place to stay if you want to be near midtown and catch Broadway shows. It's only several blocks from Times Square, yet in a very quiet location on 44th. Everything about it is excellent; you can tell from the moment you leave the bustle of the street and enter the serene lobby that you are entering a good customer experience! The restaurant is also excellent. It's so good you may end up eating here often, just because its easy and appealing.

Stayed here for three weeknights and it was a great experience!  The room was gorgeous and the bed was ridiculously comfortable.  Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly, the decor was classic, and there were fresh flowers around every corner.  If you're a gym junkie when you travel, the fitness facilities were impressive as well.  Definitely recommend it!

Home base when visiting my hometown -NYFC!
Got to love a hotel right in the middle of everything that seems miles away. "Very "classy, wonderful lobby area and Gaby Bar.
Walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars.
Walking distance to tons of shopping.
Walking distance to the tree at Rockefeller Center at Christmas.
Nice rooms, yes smallish, but it is NYFC, so appropriate for sleeping and playing. If too small get a suite or stay somewhere else. Staff is very French so prepare for zee attitude (LOL) but the rest of the staff is great. Remember, it's NYFC so everyone needs to be taken care of if you want to be taken care of, wink-wink.

Perfect stay and to this day one of my favorite hotels.
The staff was incredibly accommodating, super friendly, Not right smack in the middle of Times Square but only a couple blocks away, so it was convenient. The rooms were comfortable, a little on the smaller side but still nice. I got to NYC super early that day and I checked my bags and then went out and about, came back took a nap and went back out again. They made the beds in the few hours i was gone and left these cute little mints on my pillow. Loved it! Loved it!

Love this hotel!  Great location near tons of great little places to eat.  The room is nice and cozy.  I felt like it was more like a house, with great closet space, cool modern decor and fresh orchids.

Front desk staff is very helpful, concierge is great with recommendations/reservations.  On check out day they were great.  They stowded my bags after I checked out so I could shop and then I could even drop my bags off so I didn't have to carry them around the city (ok, I was doing some serious fabric shopping, it got heavy!).  I highly recommend this place!

Momma stayed here with a friend for a girl's weekend visiting NYC. Loved it.

Orchids everywhere. Spacious rooms with good use of mirrors. Big beautiful bathroom with a tub and glass shower. The beds are amazing. I laid down for a minute when we stopped in the room for something and just floated on the cushiony goodness.

I hear the room prices were not bad either.

They lose a star because the "American" breakfast of two eggs, sausage, hashbowns and coffee costs... $21.

Which is just stupid.

But you can control your own AC, room had a hairdryer and other necessities, and a big book of NY info next to the window overlooking 44th. And slippers.

This was a great place to stay in Midtown.  The room was nice, very clean and comfortable.  The location is really convenient and close to everything.  Grand Central Station is only three blocks away so it was easy to jump on a train up to CT.  The staff was very accommodating and helpful with anything I needed.  Definitely worth every penny and I would highly recommend this place to anyone planning a visit to NYC.  Enjoy!

I stayed here on the final leg of my honeymoon in July 2007 and it was very nice. The room was tiny but very clean and comfortable. While the room was tiny, the bathroom was quite spacious with a great shower and bathtub.

The concierge was very helpful, they hooked us up with reservations at a truly memorable Italian restaurant down the street.

The Sofitel is also in a great location, a few blocks east of Times Square and a few more south of Central Park. We were able to get around very easily.

It was charming and nice, but has nothing on the Sofitel Chicago.

This Sofitel has more of an old world charm to it, but not in a Ritz Carlton type of way.  The rooms are very similar to the ones in Chicago, but a little smaller and not quite as modern.  The marble bathroom was identical with seperate shower and full soaking tub.  NO FRETTE TOWELS or BATHROBE!  But they did have that French bath product that smells so great.  The beds are super comfortable and I slept like a baby (which is rare).

Room service is pleasant.  The fresh fruit plate was a nice snack and came promptly.

Nice staff, friendly doormen.  Oh this hotel is under renovation right now, so there are many cosmetic flaws all over the place.

Overall, I think there are much better options in the city, but not a bad choice.

Great place to stay....the three times I've stayed here this year, I've ended up in a corner suite.  It's very spacious and the views are amazing.  The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are clean, and I like that there's a shower and a separate tub.

The staff there are very nice, easy to talk too, accommodating, and the door men are cuties with a great sense of humor.  Love it!

Location is great, it's off Fifth so you can do all your shopping, close to the subway so you can hop on a train.  Very convenient.  Looking forward to my next stay here.

If you like to stay in Midtown but still want to be far enough away from the raucous Times Sq, you'd be pleasantly surprised to find a classy, intimate, comfortable, clean, graciously staffed  hotel right down the street from the famed boutique Algonquin and the Iroquois hotels.   For those who like spa-like marble bathrooms, Sofitel will not disappoint you.  Highly recommended.

Tip:  For breakfast, go a few doors westward (Red Cafe??) instead of paying $25.  For dinner, check out the Greek restaurant (Kellari Taverna) a few doors down the street--excellent greek cuisine and good wine that won't break the bank.

This HOTEL is just simply, OUTSTANDING!!!!!

I've stayed here twice, and both stays were amazing.  I stayed there last summer on my way to Puerto Rico (three days in NYC then five in san juan).  Unfortunately, my flight to nyc was delayed so my late evening arrival ended up being a really early morning arrival.   DRAT.  I called the Sofitel and got a lovely receptionist on the phone (from Puerto Rico, god I wish I remembered her name because she was a godsend).  I told her my situation, and I was extremely bummed out that I would only be able to get a cat nap for an hour or two given my full day in new york city.  She ended up upgrading me to a suite!!! So that I could get a ready room for my early morning arrival.  Although I got a 3 hour nap, it was the most luxurious nap I ever had in a beautiful suite!!!!  This was a stay I would never forget.  The bathroom was amazing with a shower and nice tub!  The beds are plush.  I also like the free internet in the lobby!

Other things I like, the rooms are quite roomy for nyc hotel rooms (even the non-suite room I had on my first visit)!  The gym is nice.  It's a quick run to Central Park and close to everything... shopping, theaters, park, subway lines, bryant park!!!  What a superb hotel  Great service.  I especially love the fresh orchids that they put in the bathrooms!!!

It's pricey... but worth every penny if you are seeking solace and tranquility in a hotel in the middle of the most bustling, dazzling, crazy city in the US!

We love this hotel. Amazingly quiet rooms, fantastic location (not on a super busy street) great view, no unnecessary noise in the hallways & it was very clean. The concierge are very down to Earth too & helpful with shopping suggestions other than the usual overpriced midtown area. We walked probably blocks or more  over 3 days and I took a nice hot bath every evening before heading out to dinner or a play. It was THAT clean. I'd highly recommend it for a boutique hotel. We walked down the street to see Phantom since it's on the same street... very convenient.  Note: when we were checking out the people next to us had a $14,000 bill. (Gasp!!)

The Sofitel is comfortable and unafraid to express a strong, decadent personality in an industry of pandering, powder-my-ass, reuse-your-towels! hoteliers. I'd be disinclined to stay elsewhere.

This hotel is a very nice place to stay and at a very good price. OnDemand movies are free but it may get cut out so if you are watching a movie you might have to pick it up at another time. The bathrooms have speakers hooked up to the TV so you can listen to what you are watching. The lobby has a nice waiting area with 3 computers hooked up to the Internet but it's very slow. The staff is very nice. This hotel is in a great location. Half a block from fifth avenue and block and a half from times square. If you need a refigerator just call the front desk and they'll send one up. Don't store anything or move the contents in the room refrigerator cause you'll get charged (Bell boy told us this). I'd stay here again and recommend this place to others!

Nothing short of fabulous.  Amazingly comfortable bed, huge bathroom, rob eand slippers.  Friendly staff, QUICK check-in.  Smooth easy stay.  The bar is nice, cocktails not cheap.  I've stayed in the Chicago Sofitel, and enjoyed my stay here as much.  This hotel may not be as cool architecturally as the Chicago location, but the location is great!  Close to a nice diner (Red Flame), train stations, walking distance to most place in Midtown you'll want to go.  Our room on the 12th floor had a king bed, the room was roomy.

Great hotel in a great location. The rooms were spacious when compared to other NY hotels I've seen. I booked through Priceline and got a decent rate. The beds are amazingly comfortable - probably the best I've ever seen - and I wanted to steal the pillows. Bathroom was also gorgeous (big plus in my book). The French accents everywhere got to me by the end of the stay, and didn't get a chance to check out the gym - but had a great time.

I would stay here for a very comfortable business stay (as I did) versus going for a luxury vacation-type experience.  Unlike many NYC business hotels that are dated, super small rooms, and noisy -- this was very comfortable and even passed the cleaning test of this hotel germaphobe (yes, I bring my own Lysol wipes).
