My bf and I have stayed in Sofitel Philadelphia before. We had such a great experience that when we realized DC had one it was a logical choice. Sofitel is a bit on the pricier side when it comes to hotels, but it is worth everything especially considering the service you get. Concierge goes above and beyond, front desk is very accommodating with needs, and the even send you, say a pair of sunglasses lost in a black car, back to your hometown free of charge.
Their hotel rooms tend to look similar when compared across all cities. However, just an FYI, we paid pretty much the same in Philadelphia as we did in DC. But the room itself was noticeably smaller in DC.
A big plus is that their beds are SUPER comfortable! (Though to be completely fair, I recently went on a trip back to Philadephia and stayed at the Downtown Marriot and their bed was possibly more comfortable. Of course, I was sleeping alone instead of sharing it with my bf!)
I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.
We have a Sofitel in Chicago that we send clients to all the time, I have never stayed or eaten there, but if it's anything like the one in DC I plan on making a trip.
Friendly, helpful staff; fabulous bar and restaurant (see my reviews of them), unique, modern rooms w/super comfy beds. The hotel is French, and they use L'occitaine products in the bathroom. I was in heaven.
Would definitely stay here again.
Cool bar here. Totally random location, but great drinks.

Stayed here for a few nights to celebrate DH's bday and couldn't have been treated better.... seriously like royalty. Everyone was friendly and knew us by name! The concierge are very helpful and suggested a few good restaurants and also we were able to buy our tickets for the city trolley tour from them no problem. Small quarters but everything was extremely clean and well taken care of. We had brunch both Saturday and Sunday at the restaurant in the hotel, while not very busy, it was very good. We also partook in the bar every night for night caps and the wine flights which are a great deal.
When in DC and looking to spend a little extra money for a special occasion I would definitely splurge on Sofitel.

Very nice staff, clean hotel. Let us check in at 10am! Cozy rooms. Feels like you are in France, nice atmosphere. Restaurant in hotel is excellent! Only thing missing is a pool ;)
I didn't actually stay there but... while looking hot and sweaty and desperately searching the area for anywhere to buy a bottle of water ( darn you, closed on the weekend McPherson square CVS), I ask the Sofitel Doormen ( there were several) where I could buy a bottle of water. They invite me into the gorgeous lobby , spoke with the hostess(?) and gave me two icy bottles of Evian on the house! AWESOME! I am definitely staying here when I get the chance. To be nice and accommodating to a paying guest is one thing, but they went above and beyond.

The hotel was lovely, trendy decor, comfortable beds, flat screen tv & marble bath - though the room was on the small side. We ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant, Ici and everything from the food to the décor to the service was top notch.
My biggest complaint was the fire alarm going off at 4am telling us to leave the building immediately (for everyone on the 4th, 5th & 6th floors). After getting the hell scared out of us, quickly getting dressed and trudging out to the street in the middle of the night, they told us it was a false alarm. However, when we got back up to our room it happened 2 more times - so there is no way that someone pulled it, it must have been faulty.
Upon check out, when my reply to "how was your stay?" was met with "the first night was just awful with the fire alarm going off at 4am". I was met with "I'm sorry about that". That's it!?! I would think the hotel would at least comp a breakfast or something to make up for taking a few years off my life ( at the time, we had no idea it was false alarm and we thought there really might be a fire - we rushed around like lunatics throwing on our clothes and grabbing what we could). And all they do about it is say "sorry".
If it wasn't for that, I would give it 4 stars.

The most accommodating hotel staff I have ever encountered! When I mentioned that I was celebrating my partner's birthday, the entire staff ensured that our needs were met flawlessly. I can't wait to get back to the gem of a hotel for more DC ventures.
Our room was spacious and the bed was heavenly to sleep in.
The maid service was impeccable and room service was divine.
I totally make this one of my favorite places to stay in DC.

I have 3 reviews here. One for the food in the bar, one for Saturday breakfast and one for the cakes made to order:
1. Do not go to the bar for lunch if you are hungry. I ( stupidly) ordered a crabcake. I'm from Maryland, I never should have ordered a crabcake in a French restaurant. They think it's made with bread:(
And! it cost me $50 to buy lunch for 2 people that was basically lettuce. I was still hungry. Took me days to get over that.
2. The Saturday breakfast was pretty much around $15 per person in the bistro. That's a good value. The food is delicious and they bring lovely pastries and croissants, as well as OJ and coffee to go with everything. In checking the menu, I see that it's still around $15 at the newly named ICI. There's more selections added, and it sounds good.
3. We ordered 2 cakes recently and both were superb. Watch out for the black forest cake. It's loaded with brandy. You literally get toasted from eating it. It's got cherries that are soaked in it. They also rush ordered another cake for us and really came through.
Last but not least, I do want to compliment the staff. They are charming and most have lovely French accents. A lot of their guests are from France, and when they send them to us, I get to practice my French.
I will go back to check out the new menu at ICI .

This hotel rocked! I'll admit I was a little wary at first of the "Parisian Flair," expecting to be ignored and treated like the American that I am. (wait, I'm in America...moving on...) I had nothing to worry about. This is a wonderful hotel.
I stayed here recently during a conference in which most of the attendees were at another hotel. I'm so glad that 1) I wasn't with all of those other people so I could just relax and 2) I was at the Sofitel with comfy soft beds and a lovely large, flat screen TV.
The service was impeccable, from the lovely ladies who checked me into my room (at 9:00am on a Sunday, 6 hours before check-in) to the doorman and the concierge. This company knows how to train their people in customer service.
My room was clean and tidy - good size, with warm, comfortable decor. The bathroom was lovely - marble and glass, with a soaking tub and a separate shower. I really liked the sliding door instead of the door that opens in or out. Nice way to save some space.
The bar and restaurant both looked lovely, but I'm afraid I didn't have the opportunity to indulge at either one during my stay.
I would highly recommend this hotel to friends coming from out of town - great location and a comfortable stay all around.

love, love, love this hotel. the standard room i got was superb. the bed was amazingly luxurious and comfortable. the bathroom was beautiful, the tv was nice, there is 24 hour room service, they let me check out 1 hour late, the rooms are SO QUIET! you feel like you are the only guest in the hotel because it's very private. all of the amenities are top notch.
gripes:
1. valet parking is $37 per day. this is DC, but that is still WOW.
2. the mini fridge has sensors that will automatically charge you every time you pick something up - even if you put it back. so, I was charged about $50 when I took out all the junk food in the mini fridge to store my water bottles. the front desk removed the charges, but it was an unpleasant surprise when I tried to check out through the TV and I saw literally $50 of charges.
3. the room guide book had several pages in french with no english translation.

This hotel was A B S O L U T E L Y wonderful!
Even their standard rooms were a cut above! To be such a quality hotel, they even met the federal per diem rate. When my colleagues heard I was staying there, they were more than shocked..
The bathrooms were stunning. Marble, a separate glass shower and a separate whirlpool tub. Turndown service for each room (Marriott, did you hear that? Not just for their concierge floors, but for ALL rooms!)
The bellhop and doormen were gracious and accomodating. The front desk gave me a late checkout of 3PM, and they greet you in French...Aaah! My only gripe was that my room had a straight view into the offices next door, and this is DC...it was VERY next door, as in, I could put my arm out of the window and touch their glass!
The bar (at night) was filled with your typical upscale Washington crowd (looking like they were fresh off the Hill).
I can't wait for my next DC trip. It will definitely include a stay at the Sofitel.
Great outdoor restaurant! Co-workers and I, frequently find ourselves there after work, or for a quick lunch. Great service, and the best burgers I've had!!

We came to Le Bar for drinks after a nice evening. Wow what a great experience. The decor was extravagant and the service matched. Dress up, prepare to pay, and have a great time...We did!
