MMMMMMMMMMMM fluffy heaven!!!!!
I can't tell you about the service of Society but from what I understand it's impeccable!!! The cupcakes are seriously little pillows of sheer JOY! I say pillows because they are very fluffy and not too weighed down.
I tried a regular chocolate and the banana chocolate chip. They both were wonderful but the banana was amazing! I was not expecting it to be as flavorful as it was. The banana was not overpowering and the chocolate added just enough. I think that the frosting was a cream cheese. This was the perfect frosting because the sweetness was perfect!
You will never buy another grocery store cupcake after you try this place. Goodbye Kroger's and H-E-L-L-O SOCIETY BAKERY!!!!!! -
Review from Joshua W.
I gave it a shot. I really wanted to like this place a lot, but I found them to be just OK. Nothing too special. The frosting is not as sweet as the other cupcake places, but this particular cream cheese icing just doesn't do it for me. I dunno if its just the bland taste of the cupcakes or the icing itself but it does not excite my taste buds. The place is super small also and getting in and out of the place is a chore in itself. Nothing Bundt Cakes is still numero uno in my book.
Tip: The restaurant parking lot diagonal to the store is a great place to park for a quick grab and go. -

Waaaa :( What happened Society Bakery?? You rocked my world just a few months ago, but this last go-around was sooooo disappointing. Had the spice cake - the cake part was still moist and had good flavor (only reason I gave them an additional star)- but the cinnamon/spice icing we were talked into was just plain awful. It tasted straight up like cinnamon gum! Totally artificial and bleh...the thought of it is nauseating. No one in our group liked it or could eat even a third bite. Not sure what happened but DO NOT get the spice/cinnamon gum icing!

I'm sad. After eating more than half my pastry (bread pudding sandwich), I discovered a long piece of red hair in my pastry. Minus 2 stars because that ruined my experience.
http://s3-media4.px.ye...
Other than the hair, the carrot cake was moist and the frosting was not overly sweet. This was one of my favorites.
The red velvet whoopie pie was moist as well and sticks to your fingers. The cream cheese was not heavy and had a whip consistency. -

I'm a dessert monster that loves all things sweet so after reading the great reviews and that it was voted top 10 cupcakes in America I was sooo there!
Well I'm sad to say this place totally missed the mark and was very disappointing. I expected them to have more variety than they did since it's listed on the site. Anyway the flavors I got were Oreo, Red Velvet, Strawberry, Vanilla with chocolate frosting and chocolate with peanut butter frosting. Let me just say that the flavors were bland. The Oreo and vanilla cupcakes tasted the same. The frosting didn't even have the flavor profile that it was supposed to have. The chocolate frosting was disgusting. The cake was moist but other than that they weren't good at all. I actually wonder if the cupcakes may have been made a few days before because the cake and frosting tasted old/stale, definitely weren't fresh.
They only thing I got there that was good was the brownie but then again this place wasn't voted for top 10 brownies. Needless to say I won't be back again...ever. I'll have to continue my search for a great cupcake place. -

I've eaten my fair share of cupcakes and this one is by far my favorite. I've always been terrified of dry cupcakes and these are FAR from being anywhere close to dry. They're moist, flavorful, and HUGE. Everything is bigger and better in Texas ;)
I tried my first Society treat at a Yelp event quite some time ago and their coconut cupcake left an impression on my taste buds. It's just absolutely divine. I bought a dozen cupcakes today and I pray they will last me through tomorrow. :P
The cakes aren't too sweet which pairs perfectly well with the sweetened frosting. I've never been a fan of frosting but I'll eat the frosting here because it's pretty damn good.
Parking is a pain here but you'll forget the troubles you went though as soon as you take a bite into your cupcake:) -
Review from Mary C.
Love their cupcakes.
So my two favorite cupcakes places are Society Bakery and Patty Cakes in Grapevine. A little compare and contrast of my top 2. Society Bakery has the better icing. I think Society Bakery's icing is the best anywhere. You can taste the buttercream. I can also feel the icing going straight to my hips but I choose to ignore that and just mentally decide to go an extra mile on my next run. For prettiness and presentation, Patty Cakes is definitely better. Their cupcakes look like works of art. Society Bakery does a better job customizing things on top of their cupcakes to either explain the flavor or to be cute. And finally, I like the actual cake better from Patty Cakes. They are by far the best two cupcake places IMO.
Society Bakery also has a new location (or new to me) in Medical City which is a little cool and a little strange. It is great if you are going to Medical City or work there but it is inconvenient if you are in North Dallas and want to go there because you have to deal with the medical complex.
Their Greenville location is the one they have had forever and it is awesome.
I love cupcakes and I love Society Bakery! -

I have a sweet tooth. A bad one. So basically if it has sugar in it, i'll eat it. Petit fours are my ultimate weakness, and these guys are the best at it!! I could eat 100 in one sitting. Cupcakes? If it has a soft buttery icing cap, forget it. You won't see me for days. Thankfully I can get all my sugary crack at Society!
I have never, not once ever placed an order in person. I have always called ahead. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. When I ordered some petit fours for my girlfriends baby shower I wanted a total of 30 with 3 designs split equally. A frog, a baby bootie and a martini glass (yep, she wanted to at least pretend she could drink). All vanilla. The chocolates are also amazeballs. It's not cheap in the slightest....each PF will cost you roughly $4 each. But....its worth it and your belly fat with thank you.
The only thing that I absolutely grinds my gears, is the parking. Picking up on a Saturday? I would rather slit my wrists. There is never any parking, not in front or on the side streets. The first time I tried to pick up an order they brought it out to me after I tried for 25, yes 25 minutes to look for parking. Lovely and the lady was suuuuper nice. Another time I had the MP get out and run in to get them while I circled the block. Another time after I hit the 15 min mark I called to see if they had private parking since I was just picking up (and running late) and the woman said "no sorry, you'll just have to keep circling." Uh.....whaaaa?? Whatevs. I know the parking isn't their fault, so I'm not deducting anything...but its annoying.
Their website is also a great tool to search for ideas as they practically make anything with sugar in it. OMG, I just drooled thinking about the chocolate petit fours. Seriously.Listed in: Guilty Pleasures, Sugar Coma

Review from Grace K.
I'd have to say that my favorite cupcake place is Sprinkles, but I was exposed to Sprinkles way too long ago that it's just my natural favorite. As far as Society Bakery goes, I simply found this place to be okay, nothing special for me. Acutally, cupcakes really aren't anything too special in general - Most places try to sell themselves by adding a HUGE dollup of frosting on the top, but I believe a real delicious cupcake is the cupcake itself, not the frosting or the added decorations. I also felt that the cupcakes were way, way, way too sweet - more so than any other cupcake place I've tried. Maybe the day I went for a visit they just made their cupcakes sweeter than normal? But my teeth were aching after eating just 1~!
I'll definitely have to come back for another try to see if their cupcakes really are that sweet - or if I just went on an off day.
I'd have to say that a huge drawback is the parking here - there's very few spaces to park and there's too much traffic going both ways that you can't comfortably go slow enough to find parking or wait for someone to get into their car to get out of their space. I feel so rushed to find parking and it's just an uncomfortable feeling. If parking is not an easy task, there's going to be less of a chance for me coming back. -

With 130 reviews, and a 4.5 star average, there's really little need for my humble opinion about Society Bakery. Obviously, these cupcakes are top notch. Instead, I will focus on my favorites.
COOKIES 'N CREAM: It's like they smashed an entire bag of Oreos into a super concentrate of cookie and cream. The frosting was phenomenal.
SPICE, ITALIAN CREAM, AND GERMAN CHOCOLATE were also very good. I was less impressed by the red velvet and the yellow cake/chocolate frosting (usually favorites of mine).
Anyway, thanks to a recent groupon deal, my wife and I single handedly ate an entire box of a dozen cupcakes in 4 days, thus ruining any chance of ever losing the "holiday pounds". Well played Society Bakery. Well played. -

I LOVE the carrot cake here! The red velvet and key lime are also good. I should probably try more flavors but I always get the carrot cake because it's my favorite. The frosting is pretty sweet, I usually have a huge glob leftover that I don't eat.
The worst thing about this place is the parking. You have to park a mile away because the parking nearby is usually full. I guess it helps you walk off the calories from the cupcakes though? -

This place has the worse parking, they only have like two or three spots. The cupcakes are ok, in my opinion Sprinkles Cupcakes on Northwest and Preston are way better by a landslide. Don't waste your time they don't have many flavors to choose from.

Let me just begin by saying I am not a cake person. My sweet tooth can't resist gummy bears, but it can say no to almost any cake. But if we are talking Society Bakery's cakes or cupcakes, I am always down.
This place is so popular, plan ahead. Weeks if you want something special. -

Grapevine, TX
I had written a review before, but I think it must have gotten discarded. I'll keep it brief though. I've been to this location multiple times and while I still think it's the best in the metroplex, the last couple trips have made me drop one star from the rating.
I had the following:
Double chocolate cup cupcake
carrot cake cupcake
italian cream cupcake
vanilla with chocolate icing
Chocolate w/ vanilla icing
red velvet cupcake
red velvet whoopie pie
The best where the red velvet options, the italian cream, and just barely the double chocolate cupcake.
THe main problem I've had recently with SB's stuff is the over sweet icing. The red velvet is great because they use a cream cheese frosting that cuts through the sweetness. The italtian cream has great flavor and the double chocolate gives you some really nice, rich chocolate flavor.
The others ones were good and the cake was moist, but the icing just too sweet. I'm gonna be back soon because I've got a groupon to use so I hope my next visit will bring the place back to at least four-star level -

The cupcakes at Society Bakery are not just beautiful but delicious!!! They are so creative in their flavors (Champagne!) and they taste heavenly.
Today my sister called from California & had them deliver a dozen to my house to celebrate my bday! The guy who dropped them off even covered the box with his jacket so they wouldn't get wet (it was raining heavy today!)! That was true customer service!
This place does get packed on weekends in particular so be prepared to wait if you show up during a busy hour... -

Since I have not had Society Bakery Cupcakes I thought I would try a familiar flavor- Italian Cream with a back up spare of Key Lime just in case...HOLY COW!
While the Italian Cream was good the Key Lime was (que the choir) Ahhhhh....Absoutely, deliciously, delightful! Perfect glaze topping with lime filling and oh so light vanilla cake making the perfect cupcake! Worth the drive...and I live in McKinney. -
Review from Min K.
Don't know what all the hype is all about but this place is not really that great. Maybe because I am a patissier but they were just too sweet for me. The whipped buttercream frosting piled high on top of the cupcake was too much.
This is next to Buffalo consignment store and beware there is no parking you probably have to park in front of someone's house or some random parking lot. I had a hard time parking because the spots were mostly taken and Greenville is a 2 way road so....
The worst part of my visit was the FLY INSIDE THE DISPLAY CASE
Yes I saw a fly landing on top of cupcakes and who knows what. I don't know how the workers didn't see that but once I told the worker he/she just said "Oh it happens." No I don't think so I've never seen a bakery that has a fly inside their display case. The worker just turned off the light inside the display case and the fly was gone or just sitting on top of another cupcake.
I did order the cupcakes though but not the ones the fly landed on.
I got the strawberry, carrot cake, and oreo.
Since this is a bakery I thought there would be more selections of other desserts but 90% of what they sold were cupcakes! -
Review from Tim L.
Move aside, Sprinkles and Dimples. Y'all have nothing on Society Bakery. I can't begin to explain how great the cupcakes are here. It's one of those out of mouth experiences that everyone deserves to have once in their life.
Society Bakery offers cupcakes are $3 which is comparable to most other bakeries around town. The taste and quality of the product is what sets this place apart from all others. The size of these cupcakes are monstrous in size and each is topped off with crazy amounts of cream. You will find a wide variety of flavors such as your typical red velvet, carrot, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, and Italian cream just to name a few. They also have some rotating flavors of the month such as Oreo, peppermint red velvet, apple pie, and the original.
The cupcake itself is very moist. My friends have said that they have had one three days after they ordered it and it was still very soft. Something in their batter keeps this cupcake from drying out. Then theres the OMG good cream. The cream is really soft and actually adds to the flavor. It's not just some sugary substance to mask the imperfections of the cake. Seriously, how can other people even try to pass off their version of cream as good. This stuff is the real deal and the complete package. Moist, flavorful cake and to die for cream and we got a winner! Oh, and if Ellen Degeneres says they're good, they must be :)
This place closes at 5pm (6pm on Fridays), but if you want to pick it up after hours you can place an order over the phone and they will leave your cupcakes next door at The Corner Market. I believe they are open until 8pm most days. -

By far the best bakery in Dallas. My new favorite! The Peppermint Red Velvet whoppie pies are TO DIE FOR! Super moist and just the perfect balance of red velvet and peppermint. My husband is not a sweet eater but he loved these. Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying, that as a bakery who is NOT solely a cupcake place, they make the best cupcakes. But there is so much more to Society Bakery! The whoopie pies. To die for. Huge, moist cake with a delicious creamy center. uhhh yeah.
I would also like to point out that Society Bakery really gives back to the community. Twice recently when I was attending a fundraiser or a charity event, Society Bakery provided desserts. And not just the crap that is left over the day before. A flood of cupcakes. A heap of whoopie pies.
My only complaint is I wish they would extend their hours. MANY times I have driven home from work and saw Society Bakery and thought that a cupcake would really hit the spot. But you know, now that swimsuit season is coming up....maybe closing up shop early is for the best. -

Has anyone been to the medical city location?
Picked up some cupcakes last monday: double chocolate, PB chocolate, carrot cake, pecan praline and german chocolate. Unfortunately, it was an all around disappointing experience. All of them were very dry and overly sweet :( The double chocolate disturbingly tasted more salty than chocolatey. My husband could not even bring himself to finishing the carrot cake bc of the texture and taste. I could not finish the PB chocolate one either. How disappointing...
What happened? We could see a worker in the back kitchen, so it looks like they bake on site.
This was very different from our experience at the greenville location. Makes me wonder.... was our greenville experience just a dream? these cupcakes were nothing like the ones we had there.
We need a cupcake break for a while, these left a bad taste in our mouth.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I would give it five stars, but I have yet to taste their cakes. This place is outrageously good. Part of me wishes I'd never come here because now, I'm obsessed and could easily eat their sweets everyday.
And if that happened, I would weigh 500 pounds.
The iced sugar cookies are ridiculous. I always ask for them if I don't see them in the case, because sometimes they have extras in the back. Every cupcake I've had here has been delicious. My favs are the spice and the Italian cream cake.
I find it amusing when they box up the desserts so tidily because I know I'm just going to rip into them as soon as I get to my car. -

Society Bakery absolutely has the best cupcakes in Dallas! I have tried many varieties, especially in new york: magnolia, crumbs, sprinkles...and let me tell you, these cupcakes win. There is something so dreamy about the soft icing. They are very moist too, which I adore.
Favorite include: Red velvet, pumpkin, and chocolate with vanilla icing. I brought a dozen to an event though and every one of them seemed to be a hit. It is also more reasonable than other cupcake places near by.

So far, these are the best cupcakes I have found in the Dallas area. The variety of flavors are sure to please most people. The problem I encountered was choosing which flavor(s) to buy so I selected one dozen variety flavors and returned to the office. By the end of the day, most of the cupcakes were gone.

Review from Roxanne M.
Dallas, TX
My daughter and I had these cupcakes today, and they're good. I don't know that we were swooning, but they're good cupcakes.
My 2-star rating has to do rather with poor customer focus and high pricing. We were looking for 2 things: I hoped to order a birthday cake (not special art... just one of their pretty "gift" cakes) for Saturday. It's Wednesday morning. They can't do it. In fairness, their web site says they need a week. I think that's unreasonable, but hey. Maybe I'm the one who's surprised that a business turns away an order. Am I unreasonable?
The place seems to be run by very young people who aren't very interested in getting business. Maybe they're just that popular and don't need it.
Because the 2nd area of interest was about 4 dozen cupcakes for my granddaughter's birthday at the end of October. The price for seasonally decorated cupcakes (which are too large anyway for 4-year-olds) is $3.50 per cupcake. There is no discount for large orders (unless you go over 5 dozen). That means $168.00 for cupcakes for a kid's bd party.
We declined, and got the impression that they really didn't care. We'll go to Whole Foods for more appropriately sized cupcakes and save a bundle. And I'll make a simple yummy dessert for my friend's birthday and, um, save a bundle.
So thanks, after all, Society Bakery! -
Review from Nadeem A.
Union City, CA
Since everybody and their mom loves on Society Bakery non-stop, we decided to go back and give them another shot. This time, we tried a veritable cornucopia of cupcakes; Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Lemon Poppy Seed, Double Chocolate, Vanilla, and Italian Cream. Basically, it was do or die time for Society, their chance to impress us or lose us.
Unfortunately, all of the white frosting cupcakes had sickeningly sweet frosting, and almost all of the cake in the cupcakes were exceedingly bland. At least the cupcakes were moist, so they have that going for them. The only one that was half-way decent for me was the Peanut Butter. The rest were just thrown away after one taste.
Out of the 8 cupcakes we've tried during our visits to Society, one was great, one was decent, and six were horrible. That's 2 out of 8, or 25%, or one giant F on their taste report card.
But speaking of report cards, we saw they were doing a collection for school supplies for DISD. So, what would have been a 2 star review is bumped up to 3 stars for their community/social awareness. Even though we won't be back for cupcakes, we think you are very cool and have given you an A in the "Plays well with others" grade on your report card!Listed in: Baked Goods

SB totally helped make my sister's birthday party and great success and in turn became my sister-in-law's bakery of choice for her wedding.
I was able to order 18 petite fours, 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 vanilla with the letter "R" on each with the opposite flavor and color of the overall icing of each dessert.
I paid over the phone and arranged to have a girlfriend pick up the order as I would be traveling to Dallas from out of town.
My girlfriend could not find parking and called the bakery, the staff told her to pull up by the store front and they would bring the order right out. Perfect.
Not to mention, the dessert would not be served until at least 10pm so they make the order late in the day so it would be super fresh.
Everything turned out great and I thank SB for being so helpful and creating a lovely surprise for my sister!
I look forward to my SIL's wedding! -

We stumbled into this place because it was next to Buffalo Exchange and man am I glad we did. They have some of the best cupcakes I have ever had. They were huge with tons of frosting and you could tell they were made with care. I felt like they were made in my own kitchen, as opposed to Sprinkles where they all look the same. Go next store to the Corner Market and buy a milk and bask in the amazing dessert yumminess. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

I so wanted to like Society but it just doesn't make the cut with me. I hate cream cheese and suspect they mix buttercream with cream cheese in their icing. Even without the icing, the cake is just mediocre at best. The parking here is a headache. Even if the cupcake was the greatest, the parking, or lack of, would make me think twice about visiting Society.

I was working in Medical City this week and needed to make a latte run. I went into the bakery in Building A to ask for the location of the Starbucks. Big mistake. Not in a bad way, but a good way, since the salesperson mentioned they can make anything Starbucks could except frappacinos.
So, against my better judgment I ordered my double shot latte. As my latte was getting prepared I was forced to view all the sweets. I do not have one ounce of willpower. I am attracted to cupcakes, I have had bad (many) and good (few), so I convinced myself to buy two cupcakes,
I ordered the Double Chocolate and Vanilla. These cupcakes were sheer perfection! The cupcakes had a desirable texture, light, not thick and heavy, and the icing was scrumptious. I do believe they use molasses to sweeten the Double Chocolate. In order to redeem myself, I spent an extra 15 minutes on the treadmill at the hotel gym, and plan to do a run tomorrow (Saturday) after my personal training session.
I just like to note, that Hey Cupcake! in Austin take heed and learn from this place. They are friendly, efficient, and know how to make one helluva cupcake! Next trip I plan on ordering a cake.Listed in: Screw Being on a Diet!

Whoa. How have I not written this until now?? Gather, children - I have a tale to tell.
It was my birthday... the last of my 30's. *sigh*
My co-dirty-old-lady-of-Yelp MeganM called to say she's on her way to my work, almost there, and can I come to the front?
She arrived with a 4-pack of Society Bakery cupcakes in her hand. For ME! Dude, that's like two lbs of cake; those things are no joke.
Best thing that happened all day! It had the SB highlights, including the banana chocolate chip which WAS delicious, but trust me when I say the Italian cream will rock your face off. Seriously.
The woman knows how to make a birthday girl's day, and Society handed her the ammo.
Moral of the story: a handful of happiness is waiting for YOU (or perhaps for someone upon whom you'd like to unleash a little cupcake ammo), nestled in a fluted paper wrapper & covered in icing. It's yours for the asking, no getting old necessary. Shoo, go! -

This is a great little bakery that could be easily missed. I was shopping next door at Buffalo Exchange and happened to pass Society Bakery. I walked in and was greeted by very friendly staff.
The display case held so many amazing looking treats. I opted for the pumpkin whoopie pie and red velvet whoopie pie. Both were amazing. They were super moist and the filling was amazing. -

It was fine, but nothing spectacular. I got red velvet, and the cake was moist and excellent. The frosting was mediocre at best. Earlier that day I went to both Creme de la Cookie and Sprinkles (Sprinkles sucked in comparison to the other two, no offense), and I decided that the best thing would be buying a cupcake from Creme de la Cookie, taking its frosting and placing it onto the cake part of a cupcake from Society.
I also had chocolate banana and italian cream. The latter was good, the former not at all.Listed in: Cupcakes!

I love love love cupcakes and everyone has always mentioned Society Bakery but I've been devoted to The Cupcakery and Sprinkles. I finally had a vendor deliver an assortment to our office from Society Bakery and we all thought they were ok but definitely not up to Cupcakery or Sprinkles. There flavors and various cupcakes were lacking in flavor. you couldn't really taste a difference from one cupcake to another.

Ok, I've been reformed.
I did love this place this go round. I had the red velvet cupcake. I also tried the Italian cream, vanilla, pecan praline, and peanut butter chocolate. (Just a bite people, not the entire cupcake!)
My daughter liked her vanilla pretty well. I think I liked it more then she did. Pecan praline was good but I have made a cake at home that taste almost exactly the same made with a burnt sugar icing. Then the Italian cream was good and moist and flavorful. My sons cupcake was the peanut butter chocolate. Unfortunately, none of us liked it. But, the red velvet stole the show. Just unbelievably great. I'm craving one right now!!!
A lot of people make comments about the sweetness of the icing but I personally love it. Its a butter based icing which in my opinion butter makes everything better!
In closing, all I have to say is I'm in love with a cupcake and its name is red velvet!1 Previous Review: Show all »
