Need sleep? Well I sure did and after a lot of research and a lot of saving (no, it's not cheap, but worth it)  I got my Soaring Heart bed and I'm thrilled with the quality of the workmanship and the content.      Made in Seattle out of natural materials and frankly they are beautiful.

Blessed sleep - rest - and knowing that I sleep on natural bedding makes it all worthwhile.

    I'm  delighted on all counts.

Needed a futon and needed it fast for visitors! Soaring Heart made it happen. Dropped in the store on Sunday and got a new futon and futon mattress for Thursday delivery. The service was superb: super helpful without being pushy at all. And the futons -- well, they take their futons seriously! They are really comfortable and made locally with natural materials.

There was one small mixup where they forgot to call us about a futon cover we ordered that had a three week turn around, but after we inquired about it they were prompt in correcting it. It would, of course, have been better service if they hadn't made the mistake to begin with ... but I'm still impressed with the company and how they handled the mixup all the same, and would recommend them to anyone (as long as they're willing to splurge a bit on futons!).

I came here to buy some buckwheat for my homemade zafu and the staff was very attentive and quick.  They even had models of different pillow sizes stuffed with buckwheat so I could better estimate how much I needed.  It is available by the lbs, and the pricing is just right.

Their products are on the expensive side, but are you willing to skimp on getting a good night's rest?  I was getting a mattress after my cheap IKEA one started sagging and contributing to back pain, so I was ready to pay more for a quality product.  The store is nice, and the people are very courteous - they never pressured us and let us lie around on their mattresses at our leisure.  I ended up choosing their classic latex mattress for its firmness.  It's definitely very firm - sleeping on it without any topper was quite uncomfortable.  I'm currently using a 2" memory foam topper (purchased elsewhere), and the setup is very good - my back feels great, and when traveling, I often long for my Soaring Heart mattress.  I'm currently considering going back to get one of their wool toppers - the 4" one felt truly luxurious at the store.

So as part of a wedding gift my husband and I just got our 6" classic latex mattress, wool topper, and cotton pad.

This is the most awesome mattress EVER. It's insanely comfortable and with a 20 year materials guarantee you can't go wrong. We've had it for a couple weeks and are extremely pleased with it.

Jeff delivered and you could tell he was a total pro at it. He carried/set up everything himself and was a really great person to deal with.

After thinking about it for only 45 years, I bought a traditional cotton shikibuton yesterday & slept on it in my tatami room last night. Although I'm not as physically whole as I was 45 years ago, it was the same pure, delicious sleeping experience I remember.

Then I folded up my bedding and piled it in the corner of the room. I'll roll it out again tonight when I'm ready to sleep. Simple. Civilized.

Keep in mind: A shikibuton is not at all the same as an American futon, which is much like sleeping on a sack of cement powder after the first few months, regardless of how much you beat & turn the darn thing. It's also totally unlike  a traditional American mattress of any kind.

But if you are looking for the traditional Japanese sleep experience, Soaring Heart is your only choice. (Believe me. I spent 45 years researching it.) The staff is happy to let you test the bedding, so if you weren't lucky enough to experience it in Japan, do try it out.

You'll have to go elsewhere for your buckwheat roll pillows, your kakebuton, & your futon cover in traditional Japanese fabrics, nor do the staff know where to find them -- which explains the 4 instead of 5 stars. But I highly recommend Soaring Heart for the bedding itself.

    Ahhhh...

I love this place!  Their bedding is marvelous.  I was having trouble sleeping and decided to change my bedding to something more simple.  After making the switch to natural bedding provided by Soaring Heart, I have had no trouble sleeping.

The people there are great to work with and I love visiting them when I have the chance.

Although I did not buy a mattress from these guys, they do have an interesting range of mattresses in both regular cotton and with wool and latex.  They are more expensive, but not double the price or anything.  Plus: they are made here in Seattle and seem sturdy.

Their frames are realllllly nice.  Most are not the usual jack-knife folding variety, but rather elegant wood designs.  Their futon covers are made with intricate and durable fabrics, not just the usual solid red/white/blue/black.

Soaring Heart has a focus on natural materials but there is still some petroleum that seems to seep into everything in our lives. Comfortable environment in their store.

We have a Soaring Heart futon that was originally my husband's bed.  I moved in with my super-huge IKEA mattress and we use that for our bed, but have kept the Soaring Heart futon as a second bed and recently turned it into a futon couch.

We stopped in not too long ago to pick up a frame for the futon-couch transition and were treated just as well and promptly as the "new" customers looking to buy the full-meal-deal.  The futon is comfortable, just not soft enough for me (I'm a princess-and-the-pea type) as a bed.  I love it as a couch, though!

The staff were all really knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.  My husband said that his experience originally buying the futon was just as enjoyable as our trip to pick up a new frame.  I'd definitely recommend stopping in here.

Wow.  I went into the store at 11 a.m. today (a Monday), ordered my bed, and they said it would take till about Thursday or Friday.  I said it was no big deal, but I had just moved and was sleeping on an air mattress, so if it could be rushed ... well, flash forward to 3 hours later, and the bed is in my apartment, set up and ready for sleeping tonight!  Amazing service, just amazing!

When we bought our Soaring Heart bed in 2008, there were only a couple of reviews on Yelp.  Without more feedback, at the time it was a difficult decision to move forward with our purchase.  We ended up visiting the store a couple of times before deciding to pull the trigger.  We opted for their most popular combination (latex mattress, wool topper, cotton mattress pad).  We chose the extra firm latex even though I originally felt most comfortable on the regular firm latex.  It ended up being the right decision  because the wool topper adds that extra layer of softness I was looking for.

It's been over 1.5 years since our purchase and we couldn't be happier.  We LOVE our bed!  It's far and away the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.  It used to be that I would look forward to staying at the Westin or the Monaco hotels because of their beds.  Now I can't wait to get home to my bed.  We were a bit worried about how well the wool topper would hold up but so far, it's in fabulous shape.  We wash the mattress pad (or at a minimum dry it) about once or twice a month and flip the topper at the same time.   It's recommended to do this multiple times a month (once a week?) but our method and frequency works fine for us.

My husband has severe allergies and it's really made a difference sleeping on wool, which is naturally hypoallergenic (and fire-retardant, btw).

If I had to do it over again (and we will in another 10 years give or take), I will definitely invest in Soaring Heart.

I had been getting horrible sleep for months on end with a old bed combined with a job that has me working crazy hours. So i finally decided enough was enough and started bed shopping.

Went to all the 'regular' places where they try to hard sell, treat you like a paycheck and not a customer, and lie through their teeth about every feature possible. One place even tried to tell me a memory foam mattress was 'all natural', and non off-gassing just to try and lure me into a purchase. At that point i gave up on all the mall location style mattress companies with their made in china crap.

As luck would have it  though, i stumbled onto Soaring Heart while doing some web searches for organic/all natural bedding. Instantly i knew these guys were a different breed of company so i went the next day to try see them about a new bed. The moment i walked in i was treated like a real person, told to shop around at other places even to make sure i found the best bed for me personally. Spent a good hour the first day just lounging around on their showroom selection and almost fell asleep at one point. Not only did they have no problem with it, they encouraged it. No hard sell, no coming back to me every 2minutes asking if im ready to buy, just peaceful window shopping at its best. Asked a few questions on my way out and that was that. I even got shown the factory floor where they make all their beds, which just happens to be attached to their showroom. That's right MADE in Seattle! Not China, Not Vietnam, Not Indonesia. SEATTLE!

Went back a week later as i had pretty much settled on them at this point. Spent a good hour talking the ears off of the nicest, and genuinely happy to be there employees i have seen in a long while. And settled on a combination that felt perfect. Came back 2 days later and without trying to upsell me, add on any extra's or anything of the sort walked away with what i would argue is the best bed ever made(or at least that my back has ever slept on).

The only real downside is the price. I went with their natural classic latex mattress, 2inch eco-wool topper and cotton pad with the Tatami bed frame which rang up to $2,600+ which was definitely more than i had intended to spend going into this shopping endeavor but honestly had no problem with after my first full night on it.

I appreciate the emphasis here on organic and green cottons and wool fibers and handmade, built to last forever furniture. I wish I could appreciate the prices. Actually, I did get a standard 6" plain cotton futon because it was not only reasonably priced, but it cost less than a regular mattress from Sleep Country. Prices rise accordingly at the higher end  of quality however and they were out of my range.

We've had their cotton mattress toppers on all six beds in the house for 12 years and they are still working hard and look fabulous, despite washing them once a month.  That's ALOT of dryer time, and still, they are the best bed covers you'll find anywhere to protect your bed and keep you sleeping in luxury.  Or at least that's what I thought until 6 years ago I went there seeking help for my morning back pain.  I bought their 2 inch wool topper, a plush wool encased in a durable soft cotton cover, that I top with the cotton mattress pad.  I now wake up free of back pain (until I sleep in someone else's bed, that is.)  My husband and I STILL rave, 6 years later, about how comfortable our bed is since the wool topper entered the scene. I was skeptical, as wool sweaters and hats make me itch; worry not--the casing eliminates any reactions you might have with wool. As for how or why this simple cover has been so curative, I don't fully comprehend.  I recall the owner of Soaring Heart explained it had something to do with regulating the heat of my body, and the way it conforms to my back.  Although we moved from Seattle to Bellingham, I still buy all of our bedding from this store.  The salesman I worked with yesterday, when I bought a wool topper for my 17 year old son, was so kind, I thought I'd put in my two cents worth on Yelp.  While I realize I sound like a walking commercial, I'd end by saying: Best Darn Bedding Store Ever.
