Doggy boot camp changed my life. Yes it's pricey...but the results are priceless! I am so impressed by my new and improved Lychee. She went in as a crazy, aggressive and super territorial dog. After 4 weeks with Graham at Snug she is now obedient, walks on her leash without pulling and most importantly, she can walk by strangers and other dogs without barking, growling or snapping. I really appreciate how Graham under-promised but over-delivered and especially love the fact that I have access to free lifetime training with Snug now.

Like most negative reviews, it involves the Vet. I've been very regular with boarding, some grooming, dog training and day care. My dog was happy. Last boarding he came down with kennel cough 7 days after staying there. I realize things can happen. OK, their vet saw him and gave him meds, all for no charge. That's the responsible thing to do. I made an appt for a follow-up and had to cancel because of family issues.
Well, it came time to get this recheck done. . This young woman named Keather/Kendra? spoke to me regarding the appt. She said I could "drop my dog off" and Dr. Ashbaugh would call me when he was done. OK I'm confused, it's a 3 minute recheck and I live 25 miles away now. I asked which day he could see my dog when I didn't have to drop him off. Well, this woman spoke to me in a tone specially reserved for those special employees given a smidgen of authority who otherwise have no status in the organization. She was condescending, inattentive to my concerns and dictatorial. She said I had 8 no calls and a cancellation. I only saw the vet one time!! I told her there must be some confusion. Of course, she went in "does not compute" mode and kept repeating my punishment of dropping him off for recheck. Another time my dog had surgery and had stitches which I recorded on the check-in sheet. The vet came out when I picked him up and proceeded to tell me how long the stitches should stay in and when HE could take them out. He didn't even do the surgery! I guess the vet clinic is coming on hard times.
Many of my friends at the dog park have had problems here and I have always defended Snug., but this is insane. If they perceived any problems, no one EVER mentioned it in the 28 months I've been frequenting the place.1 Previous Review: Show all »

If I could leave half a star I would. This is a warning, more than a review. My girlfriend and I got our boxer Barney about a year ago, when I thought I wouldn't have to deploy anymore. Being in the military I should have known things come up, and they did. 4 days notice, I was out the door leaving my now fiancee to tend to Barney by herself. This spelled trouble because she has a 45 min commute every day. Of course he can't be alone 12 hours a day. So thus began the search for a dogsitter. The first guys we ran into, ran a facility out of their home and were great. They were sensitive to the fact that we were in a hard place because I went on deployment. They were super flexible and great, unfortunately they had to move to a different city. This left us with little choice, and snug DOES have flexible hours, but they were extremly expensive. The first thing that happens, there is an agreement for them to care for your dog. AND THEN, you pay for THEIR vets to examine and test before he/she is allowed there. Extortion #1. So, due to some accounting error on their part, we paid for 30 days instead of a month of service. So this meant if we only brought him 5 days a week, we could do that for 6 weeks. We thought, "Hey, caught a break!" Nope, one day when picking Barney up, they informed us he had attacked a dog and was kicked out. They proceeded to tell us, the signs leading up to it had been there for quite some time, and he was displaying dominant behavior. (First mention of this behavior to us) and that the day before he had been attacked himself (was not mentioned the day of), my fiancee also let them know he was not feeling well the day of the attack and suggested he be separated. This created a perfect storm. They proceeded to tell her that there was a solution. Their 3 week intensive obedience course, that they would offer for the "LOW LOW" price of $1800!!! Extortion #2. This sent up red flags everywhere.
If a pet care facility cares about animals, they would have told us he was misbehaving and we could have stopped the behavior before it became a problem. They would have also told us he was attacked by another dog. A dog could have been seriously injured or killed because they ultimately wanted us to be cornered into paying $1800 for obidience class. THEY ARE NOT OUT FOR THE WELL BEING OF YOUR PET!!!!
We obviously have no proof, but there were also signs that he was mistreated while staying there. He had become very skiddish and started developing signs of "abandonment issues" (not wanting to be in a separate room from my fiancee). These have since cleared up after being out of their care for a couple weeks.
This is very sad that they take advantage of the fact that I have deployed and am still trying to do whats best for my pet. They are not care providers, they are EXTORTIONISTS. Do not go here! -

We brought our 3-year-old German Shepherd, Cash, to Snug Pet Resort for boot camp as he was exceedingly aggressive and we were unable to control him. We were beside ourselves with what to do anymore and ready to give up on him. He had bitten 2 people and was consistently dog/people aggressive. His daily walks were something we began to dread. We had to hope every time that there would be no dogs or people that would set him off. We began to get a bad reputation in our neighborhood and were considering giving him away. One neighbor called him a "nuisance" and threatened to call the police, another neighbor was bit by him, other neighbors were terrified and would cross the street, people walking their dogs would get out of our way. We were almost unable to control him whatsoever and it was terrifying most of the time. He was basically an out of control attack dog, no exaggeration. At home though he was a sweetheart and we loved him and were attached to him. So, we took him into Sung for a consultation with Graehm who listened to all of our concerns and set up a 10-week boot camp stay for him. Their typical boot camp is 6 - 8 weeks but he understood the severity of the situation and was able to think outside the box and realized this dog needs more than the average boot camp. There was no extra charge for the additional weeks, no nickel and dimeing whatsoever. It was apparent, upon sight, that our trainer, Josh Zapparolli, was highly competent and knew exactly what he was doing. He spotted what the problems were, diagnosed everything instantly, set up a plan and took charge. It was obvious we were in good hands. When we picked our dog up after 10 weeks he had changed drastically and was a new dog altogether. Josh had him off leash with a Rotweiller sitting nearby which was a small miracle for us to see. Since we've had him home things have been so much better, and Snug offers lifetime training (free of charge!) so we meet with Josh for an hour every week where we are now in training. Cash is a different dog on his walks. He sticks right by our side with the proper command and will sit and lay down whenever we tell him to. We were given (again, free of charge) an E-collar which works wonders. It is, by far, the best tool we've ever had for keeping our dog in line. The dog is totally trained; it's now a matter of us continuing to learn what we need to know to be his leader. And Josh is accomplishing this with us; he is a patient and talented trainer of people as well as dogs. It's turning out to be a very interesting and fulfilling experience and we are watching our dog transform before our eyes. We are amazed by the way the "Leave It" command works on his walks to get him to look away when another dog/person is walking toward him. We say this command and he instantly turns his head down toward the ground, never looking back toward the other dog again. I cannot stress what a true miracle it is to witness this. This was a dog that would try to attack every dog or person we encountered. Thanks to Josh, Graehm and everyone at Snug we now have the pet we've always wanted! I cannot say enough good things about the experience we've had with Snug, they went above and beyond every step of the way. It's been life changing.

This review update is for our Dog Training Session 2
The training session lasted more than an hour, which is great..because it makes up for the 15 minutes not taken for Session 1.
Our little Boba is now getting a little more comfortable with Josh Z. He took us to the 2nd floor of the building to where they have a Living Room setting. To get to the Living Room setting you have to pass a section that consists of Doggie Rooms. It looked like each dog had their own room, very spacious. It was almost like a Doggie Hotel..but with clear doors.
For the Living Room setting...well...it's pretty much set up like any typical living room. TV, sectional couch, rug, and a doggie bed. Air condition in that room is awesome btw, especially during this hot summer season.
Anyways, we went over what Josh Z, our trainer, taught us during Session 1. He quizzed us and made us show our progress with Boba. He also gave us more training tips to do for the next week before we meet with him again for our Session 3 training. He also answered my question of what will go on for our remaining dog training sessions.
Josh Z is an awesome trainer, I would highly recommend him to friends and family with dogs. I dunno how much they pay him, but I hope they pay him well.
Looking forward to all our future sessions with him!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Marvin S.
Isabelle is happy to come here and unhappy to leave. This is how I know she loves it here. What more can you ask for?
Amazing what you do for your furry little friends. I mean, our dog is our child. Pure and simple. She has been spoiled since she was 8 weeks old and when Krystle got to hold her for the first time. You knew it was over then!
Enter Snug Pet Resort. Our dog has been boarded here, day-cared here and vetted(?) here, but not trained here and we LOVE IT. She gets taken cared of so well that pretty much everyone that works there regularly knows who she is. Dr. Ashbaugh has taken cared of Izzy super well.
Trust is a huge factor, not only how well their facility is for dogs. I feel when we take her here, she will be taken cared of no matter what. That is a great feeling for us knowing we're absolutely nuts in love with our dog and they know that too. We've never had a bad situation or anything happen with Izzy playing with other dogs.
I can live with the price considering how familiar the staff is with her and the amenities they have. Location is great, and not too far from where we live.
We will always put Snug on our #1 priority when we need Izzy to be taken cared of! I can't wait to see her swimming again with the other dogs! -

A 3 week boot camp for 2300 .00 bucks... better be good. It was. One of my English Bulldogs started to develop aggressive behavior towards me and even bit me twice, something had to be done. This was the answer.
I saw it more as a vacay for him and knew he was going to have fun as well as learn new things like how not to be a friggin douche. He came home to me after 3 weeks of Charm School a completely different dog.
I also have used Snug's overnight boarding so I could do Vegas and not worry about their well being. The rooms are huge and clean with hard wood floors, huge window and tv. $150 or so a night for both of them is not bad at all. -

I've been going to Snug for over a year. Toni, Sarah, and Mike are awesome. I love them when they are there. The pool and outdoor yards are great. My dogs are so tired and happy when I pick them up. It's so much better than leaving them at home, hoping they didn't chew up your favorite pair of shoes or pee throughout the house!
However, things started changing - different requirements, increase in prices, but mainly, the attitudes!
Another reason I chose Snug was because they accepted intact dogs but now they have to be neutered/spayed after 6 months. And it was sudden when they changed their policy. I went to Snug everyday and when I dropped my intact Lab one day, they told me they couldn't accept him! I was so mad. After complaining, they took my Lab and I scheduled his neutering that week. But I couldn't believe how they failed to notify me and I'm a regular!
Snug fails at communication. They don't give enough notice for their new requirements. One day, they called requiring fecal test the day I dropped them off for boarding. I was already on my way to the airport and just let them perform the test themselves. I swear they do this to get you to use their vet services.
Most of the employees are friendly and knowledgeable but they are also horrendously inefficient even with their walkie talkies. I still don't understand why they have to get one dog at a time when there are 3 people waiting.
Huge important tip: After the 3rd day of boarding, Snug charges per calendar day not per night. If they charge you for 2 days of boarding for 1 night, fix it!
In regards to attitude, one of the employees said how she felt bad about charging another client $8 extra and another employee replied that $8 was nothing to these people.
I'm sorry but I didn't get rich by being ripped off. Always get a line item and make sure you're being charged correctly! -

This place is beautiful but WAY over priced. They don't tell you on the phone your dogs shots are due so when you show up, you can't leave him or you can pay to have their "in-house" vet do the shots. Again, overpriced. Then for some reason or another, it doesn't get logged on their chart so you have to fight with them saying they just got their shots the last time you were there. I have had to go as far as bringing in my bank statement. Please note this happened at least 3 times. LAME! I also feel the customer service is lacking. No one knows anything either. I do not recommend this place.
*** My original post was filtered. *** Please be sure to read all the filtered reviews. Disregard the 5 stars reviews though. I personally believe SNUG had random people give them good ratings since there were so many bad ones. You can tell by the person only giving one review EVER on Yelp. Lame. *** -

I'll be quite honest, what initially convinced my boyfriend that this place was worth a shot was the whole LT endorsement thing. Go figure, hrm?
We were leaving town for a weekend and wanted a pet hotel where the dogs were actually taken outside. We paid the extra bit so that our dog could do the group play bit for two of the days that we were gone, and he seemed to be completely happy when we picked him up after the weekend was over.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but it didn't really seem like the ladies at the front were really pet people... maybe it was just a long day. I don't know if it was just a weird vibe or something that we got, but we're used to really pet-oriented/ pet-enthusiastic people when it comes to our dog.
We left tons of extra treats for our dog, which we asked would be left in his room with him (which on second thought, I would have liked to see out of curiosity, but didn't request - it might have been nice to have helped him get settled), but at the end of his stay, all of the treats came back in the bag whole, which worried us because we had hoped it would keep him occupied during those long in-between hours.
I do love that they give your dog a wash on the day they're supposed to leave. That is a really nice touch, and all of the dogs seem to be really happy playing in the outside area.
We will definitely give this place another chance next time we go out of town and cannot bring our dog with us. We might even opt to bring our cat in next time too. :) -

My wife and I have been using Snug for our training and boarding needs for a little over a year now, and have been pretty luke warm about this establishment the entire time. Because they did effectively train our German Shepherd, we keep saying we'll give them another chance, but we've had it.
They are WAY over priced, and try to nickel and dime you every chance they get. They charge for EVERYTHING. Cuddle time, play time, food, pill dispensing; all of it is extra. The last time we took our dog to be boarded they said we needed to buy one of THEIR approved bones for her, because the plain raw hide bone we had just bought and brought with us wasn't acceptable. Seriously?
Also, they are the only boarding facility that requires a fecal test before you board your pet there. That, of course, is out of your pocket as well. My vet said that they require it because they have a major problem with giardia parasite outbreaks there. My vet went on to tell me the funny thing is....dogs go in negative for giardia, but come out carrying the parasite. So it's also on your dime to clear up the giardia. And round and round it goes.
After boarding our Dachshund their, we got her back a lot skinnier than when we dropped her off. If anyone knows anything about Dachshunds, you know that they tend to over eat and have a problem with becoming too fat, never too skinny. Could they have forgotten to feed her? Ugh. Ever since that boarding experience, she also appears to have lost some of her hearing. What happened there, I almost don't want to know. All I know is that her hearing was fine before I took her there, and now I have to shout at her to get her to hear me.
The customer service there is also sub par. You almost get the feeling the girls at the front desk feel put-out by your mere presence. Also, the communication is non-existent. Never assume you'll get a return or reminder phone call. You'll be very disappointed.
So in sum, my wife and I are looking for another boarding facility. Any suggestions? -

A doggy daycare and so much more! It's actually a great idea to add one in Sorrento Valley with all the peeps here looking for a place for their doggies to go while they are at work!!
This is a brand new place that just opened....(co-owned by LT)....and really a great space for the doggies to hang out there even is a vet on staff!
There is a huge pool for them to run in and they do keep the small and large doggies separate AND the best part is that they have doggie cam SO you can watch your doggie all day at your desk and waste more time on the computer!!
The pricing is in line with all they other doggie daycare places and they also have training, overnights, grooming and a vet!Listed in: Doggie Time

I recently started taking my small dog, Gertie, a Brussels Griffon, to Snug for doggie day care after she had surgery. She had stitches and I didnt want to leave her alone at home during the day the way I normally do while at work. Leaving her with someone other than a close friend or family member was really hard for me. The folks at Snug made this hard experience so much better for me. I found the staff to be warm and caring to both people and animals.
One of the days she was there, I asked them to groom her, just a clean up around her face because of the surgery the week before. Sarah did an amazing job, she was so gentle and made a very sad sore little dog so much happier. While grooming her, an ear infection was discovered and the wonderful staff quickly called me with an update. I authorized vet care and was impressed with the vet's follow thru with 2 phone calls to me regarding Gertie's treatment. I really liked that not only did the vet carefully go over my dog's treatment, but so did Sarah and the front desk staff.
My dog is my world and is rarely not at my side. It really eases my mind to know there is a place like Snug I can bring her to anytime and she will be safe, comfortable and loved while away from me. Within 2 days of going to Snug, my dog who is wary every time we get in the car, was excited to go back. She always snuggles close to me when we pull into the vet and gets shy or anxious. But when I pull up to Snug she gets all giddy and excited. To me that's pretty awesome.
Although I really liked the vet I was going to before finding Snug for daycare, I am switching all of my dog's medical and grooming needs to Snug.
I'm also a die hard Patriots fan who could care less about the Charger connection. I do not know anyone who works there, I wish I did, I would ask them to get me a job. -

We have a slightly anxious and nervous dog...rescue, but we love her. She's fine on leash, with the exception of when she feels startled....or when she's around men...or our neighbor's dogs, who bit my partner and have rushed at her three times in the past few months...
Anyhow, we usually had left her with the in-laws when we had to go out of town, but...for some reason, that wasn't an option during this latest trip. Sadly, it was a longer trip of 6 nights...Miss Molly is our little baby. We were worried to have her in a kennel because of her shelter time.
She's been to a kennel twice before since we've been her family, but those were in Alaska. Her first kennel experience was HORRIBLE. We picked her up after 2 nights and she had slept in her own urine soaked bed for two days. She hadn't eaten. BAD. It was a dark kennel with just chain link between the dog areas. It was loud. The second place she went was cream of the crop....she had her own sound proof room with a bed, television, and outdoor area. Plus, the owner took her (by herself) on a daily walk...she was fine...maybe even seemed happier than living with us. ??
Snug, well, was between these two...towards the better side. The kennels were more like doggie cubicles...not private suites. They have solid walls from the waist to floor, not chain link. (Though they are available upstairs for quite a bit more money...not in our budget.) There was one television in the room of 12 dogs that they shared. What I did like was that they rotate the dogs to the outside area throughout the day. Molly had ample time to chill out on her own outside.
While I'd prefer to to leave her anywhere, if I must leave her somewhere, I'd take her back to Snug. I'd love to have been able to afford the 3 week in kennel training, but at $1,800 dollars...she's not that bad. They do offer a free dog evaluation, though....if you're not sure what level of training you want to employ.
Bottom line, give Snug a chance. You'll be pleased when your dog returns to you washed, bedding cleaned, happy, fed, and well-looked after. They'll even understand when you call every day to check on your baby...I mean, pet. -
Review from Liam M.
Just started taking my dog to this place when heading out of town. The location is a little weird as its' right off the 5 in a building that was clearly an office building at some point, but that's about the only negative things I could say about it. The staff here is awesome, super friendly people who all seem genuinely happy. Some other kennels make you fill out extensive paperwork each and every time you drop your pet off, not this place however which is a nice little perk. Sure this place is a bit pricey but it is totally worth it, for the first time ever I don't mind dropping my pooch off for boarding, she seems happy when we drop her off as well as pick her up. If you love your pet, you should start bringing them here. If you don't, you are a terrible pet owner and I will call your parents.

I'm very impressed with the training that my German shepherd received at SnugPet! Before the 3 week bootcamp, my dog had serious leash aggression (he FLIPPED OUT whenever walking by another dog), was unpredictable around strangers, and all around lacked self-control.
Then after 3+ weeks of training from Graham (he was kept a bit longer for fine-tuning, a testament to their trainers' degree of perfectionism), my dog heels perfectly, is about 95% "cured' of his leash aggression, and is on his way to more advanced off-leash training, thanks to the weekly personal lessons that come with the bootcamp package.
I highly recommend consulting with Snug's trainers if you have a "problem" dog. It's not cheap but it's well worth the price if you can afford it. It is worth it considering the life time of the dog and how much stress and damage an untrained dog will cause! The way I see it is either continue with worry and headaches and ineffective do-it-yourself training, OR get rid of the dog, OR better yet, invest in professional training and see real results. -

I'd really like to give them 2.5 stars.
My dogs have gone to daycare for ages...both love to play and socialize. I chose Snug for a short-term fix as I was working in La Jolla and it was easier to get to on time than our usual North County daycare.
One of my dogs was reasonably happy (altho certainly not giddy as he is with the North County daycare). He's a happy go-lucky kinda guy who just goes with the flow, but he clearly wanted to leave at the end of each day at Snug.
My other dog HATED it there. After just two days, my husband practically had to DRAG her into the building. When I asked what was going on, they said she wasn't very social and just liked to lay around. Didn't sound like my dog at all. I think the problem is that they had too many dogs in a small space and she couldn't get near "her boy." So she pined for him. I finally ended up leaving him and taking her to work with me...she was much happier, altho a bit lonesome.
Don't think I'll take the dogs back here much - unfortunately I have several "days" left on a package deal. -

We own two huskies and have boarded them a few times at Snug Pet for as short as one night and as long as four. We definitely liked the fact that they got to rotate outside once per hour and that they had a discount for the second dog. Since they have so much energy, having the group play available (at additional cost) is something we've always gotten as well to expend a little energy. It's nice that it's an all in one place, including a vet on staff, which makes us feel a little better about leaving them when we go out of town. The staff has always been incredibly helpful and very friendly, both to us and our dogs.
The only reason we will not be back is because our dogs are free fed (which means that they always have food available and self-regulate when and how much they eat when they're hungry). They've been fed this way since they were born and it has worked out very well for us--and them. Unfortunately, Snug Peg has consistently had a problem with this and on our last trip, we discovered that while they were there, they are fed in a separate room from their boarding "pen" and there was "no way" that the food could be left in there for them; every time we've picked them up from Snug Pet, they've lost significant weight and have been STARVING when they get home. It's really too bad--we liked everything else about this establishment. We'd gladly board them again if they every accommodated the free feeding--just simply by having a food dish in the pen with them. -

BTW, snug is always updating there services, making them a place to go for all dog/pet needs. Best part about Leona's (my puppy) overnight stays is that she gets a little refresher course on being a perfect dog. Graham and staff know what they are doing and I will continue to recommend them to everyone i come across. Overnight stays a perfect too, and if you get your dog before 12 (noon) you don't pay for that day. Not too many places like that around anymore

Dr. John Ashbaugh recently joined Snug and he is one of the finest and most caring Veterinarians in Southern California. We recently had occasion to take our 16 year old mixed breed (Lab, Pit, Pointer) to Dr. John and he was absolutely wonderful and caring. He & an assistant even attended to our dog while he remained in the back of our SUV as our dog could not walk at the time. You will not find a more caring or empathetic Vet and we highly recommend him and Snug as Snug is an incredible facility. Our incredible dog is well on the road to recovery ! We will not hesitate go out of our way again to take our dogs to John and Snug Pet Resort.

Ok, so I've submitted a review for Snug already, but you know, I just can't get enough of this place. Everyday (yes, I mean day) I bring Pilot to daycare and I'm greeted by everyone as if I were family. All of the employees at Snug are phenomenal. Just an example: Dr. Houlihan is the best vet I've ever met, because not only does he break everything down to you (like procedures, what's going on with your animal), he calls you after the procedure/checkup to let you know that everything is ok and what to expect when you pick up your pet. This is absolutely awesome; it gives me piece of mind knowing that my 'lil buddy is in competent and loving hands while I'm not around. Nikki is the vet tech, and I absolutely LOVE her... she's so great with the animals and when I've picked up Pi after his procedures (unfortunately, he's been a regular in the vet side of the house lately), and she's very detailed with aftercare and she really does check up on the animals over the next few days, and she takes the time out of her busy schedule to check on Pilot and provides feedback to me every single time. The reason why I take the time to detail this out is because not only does the medical staff deserve the recognition, they go above and beyond to ensure that they have pleased customers and healthy animals. Let's just say that they're so freaken awesome, they've won a client for life!
Well, next topic is training. GOOD GOD they turned my neurotic Aussie into a well behaved "gentleman." Pilot's trainer, Tom, has a gift - I would never in a million years think that my dog would actually care to listen, but Tom did it... I LOVE IT! Pilot listens and actually waits for me and does everything I ask him to, without treats! I'm so stoked about this training, I swear, if you are thinking about training your dog, YOU MUST check out Snug and what they have to offer. You'll be pleasantly surprised at what they can do for your dog within a matter of weeks. Pi took his 3 week training with Tom, and it still amazes me at what my dog can do. Oh, and another great perk is that you get follow up training for your dog after they get out of the 3 weeker, at NO additional cost. I can't get over it. Period.
As you may remember from my previous post, I mentioned that Snug is a one stop shop for everything imaginable for your pet. Well, just to reiterate, the new boutique area is full of neat and trendy stuff that is hard to find in San Diego, let alone anywhere else for that matter. There's everything from dog clothing to dishes to collars to beds, and not just any old frumpy dog beds, I'm talking about customizable dog beds that you get to create yourself (as in choosing the colors and patterns, etc.). Another key part of Snug is the grooming. Now I've been taking Pi to a groomer in Oceanside ever since he was a puppy, but obviously me living in downtown SD and driving all the way up to see his groomer in O'side isn't exactly a trip I look forward to twice a month... anyway, Sarah, the resident groomer at Snug, does such a damn good job with Pilot that she is now his "permanent" groomer. It's so convenient to have everything you need for your animal in one spot, don't you think?
Ok ok ok, I know, I'm sure by the time I have this thing posted it's going to have it's own page, but there's just one last thing I NEED to say, and this is for all of the naysayers of Snug. Now I understand that everyone has bad experiences with places, I've personally had a few, but at Snug, one thing is absolutely certain: THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS COMES FIRST. There have been many times that Katie or even Toni, one of the owners of Snug, have contacted me on my random inquires, etc., and they do so in an expeditious manner and they ALWAYS follow up. This is my tried and true experience, and for people to say negative things about how they were mislead or how they were caught off guard by charges, etc., please be sure to read the literature that is on display on the counters. There is at least 6 or 7 laminated cards that spell out everything, and they're kind of hard to miss, so if you take the time to read, your questions should be answered, and if not, Katie and Toni are there to help you out. Pricing really shouldn't be an issue honestly, I mean, you are taking your pet to one of the cleanest and friendliest daycare/boarding facilities in all of SD county, so what do you expect? With 5 star service and treatment, honestly, for the prices that are set, you are getting a bitchin' deal, no doubt. I would pay the same amount, if not more, for the care and treatment that my dog receives. Just looking at Snug from the outside, you know as you walk in thru those doors that you are getting your money's worth here.
Well, I hope my long winded review has helped those of you looking for a new place to take your dog locally or even for a new groomer or vet, because I can bet that you won't find a better facility. BET!! :)1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from jamie P.
good trainers. good doctors. spacious and clean. my dog loves it. BUT very very expensive!!! they are not always clear on things, and there are added costs on EVERYTHING. feedings, etc. i would have liked to know that i had to bring riley's food for boarding, and that food was NOT included in the cost! i ended up having to buy another bag of dog food from them!! they get four stars.
unfortunately, i have to pay for my services through care credit, and that i would NOT recommend that. these guys charge insane interest, exuberant fees, and their customer service is as shoddy and unknowledgeable as they come. Snug pet LOSES a star just by partnering up with them!!! yet i can afford to pay up front......
so. 3 stars.Listed in: Riley pup's list

So my parents inherited my JRT nearly 10 years ago when it was realized that she had MAJOR separation anxiety issues. Being that they were retired and loved Roxy, they happily took her in.
Since then, they've done some traveling and used pet boarding facilities up and down the West Coast.
The worst, by far, was the facility Roxy stayed at in the I.E. She was there for less than a handful of days and when we went to pick her up she nearly blew a gasket she was so excited to see us, and she had worn about a quarter sized wound into the top of her nose and muzzle from trying to escape the kennel she was kept in.
You would have thought we were busting her out of Alcatraz she was so excited to see us.
Later, while my parents migrated down here to SD to visit with me and some other family- we had to board her again for a few days while we traveled back up to Disney with my nieces.
We all worried while dropping her off, but it was a necessary evil and we just hoped and prayed that things would go well.
The whole drive back we were anxious to get her back and we barely stopped for gas or a bite to eat.
When we waited for them to bring her out we braced ourselves for the overly anxious reaction she usually gives us- but instead she wasn't even pulling on her leash and until she saw us she was just casually sauntering alongside the attendant.
She saw us, ran over, gave us all a quick hello and then gave a quick inspection of the place. We were not only in disbelief, but also super happy that she didn't come back to us as a seemingly, emotionally scarred puppy (I know, she's 10 years old, but she's still our puppy!!).
That alone spoke volumes to us, and I look forward to being able to use this business in the future for my two mini pins. -

The power of Yelp! Tracy (I believe? - I apologize if I got your name wrong!) just called from Snug and had read my review. She said they strive for 100% customer satisfaction and wanted to offer Brownie's next wash for free. Even though I had mentioned in the review I'd probably be back, they still made the effort to call and offer that to me. Very impressive. +1 star for customer service! I'm sure after the next appointment they'll be at 5 star status if all goes well. Unfortunately, that won't be for another 6 months or so.

I wasn't impressed with Snug Pet Resort, and we boarded our dog there for five days. We chose it because of the outside time the dogs get. That part we liked. What we didn't like was the disinterested, unfriendly, bored-looking front desk staff. They were not very interested or helpful even when we initially called to inquire about boarding our dog there. Nevertheless, we thought we'd try them out. But I didn't like the fact that when I called the facility to check on our dog, I was put on hold and forgotten about -- twice. We also didn't like the fact that Snug promises to give the dogs a bath before being picked up, but in spite of us calling several hours ahead of when we went to pick up our pet, he still wasn't bathed. Bottom line, we were completely dissatisfied with the customer service we received. We'll go elsewhere for our boarding needs next time.

Well, I have a lot to say about this place. First off, I put my shiba inu in for advanced training (those of you with a shiba, all know how stubborn our dogs are) and he is so awesome now. He was a good dog to begin with, but had his bad habits one of which included dominance and dog aggression. He's 6 years old, so even tougher to train. We weren't sure how he'd come back to us, but he's a new dog. Its unbelievable. Snug is now in the process of training us!! and we're all for it. Now that we've found this place, we go here for grooming, boarding, and vet appts. Its a one stop shop. I'm still kind of iffy about putting him in day care because I just think its in his personality to not like other dogs, but we'll see after the maintenance classes how he does with the other doggies. I love this place. Tomi, my dog smells so good after grooming appts, and he loves the staff. They are all so awesome & prices are not bad either! =)

I have taken my dog to Snug for the past four groomings. We used to go to Petco, and my dog was always anxious both coming and going from that place. But hey, it was close by and it wasn't that expensive -- and they only nicked him a couple of times. What a different experience at Snug. He has no problem being dropped off - he trots away with the handler just fine. He comes out looking MUCH cuter than he did at Petco, where they typically told us they'd have to shave him if they decided he was too tangled. He also seems very calm when I pick him up. I think they use some special kind of soothing drying system there, instead of just aiming hot blow dryers at the dogs. Anyway, the kicker is that Snug grooming is cheaper than Petco grooming (at least it has been for my dog). Go figure. Anyway, nothing wrong with Petco, we went there for years too, but Snug is definitely a cut above.
