Founded by Tommi and Jo Tyndall in 1952, Snow Summit is known for annually having the best snow conditions and longest season in Southern California thanks to an extensive snowmaking system capable of covering all developed terrain without any natural snowfall, conditions permitting. In addition to its superior snowmaking capabilities, Snow Summit was also the first location on the West Coast to build a permanent in-ground halfpipe in 1983 and served as host venue for the inaugural Winter X Games in 1997.

Q:
If you get in the singles line at Snow Summit with your friends, can you still all ride up together? The answer is YES, by the way. I witnessed it dozens of times.
A:
Rhetorical question. Based on the maximum seating capacity of each chair, we utilize the single line to optimize the seating arrangement. This doesn't imply we only accommodate one single rider at a time. For instance, if a chair has a capacity of 6… more

Pray for snow. Finally a snow storm.
The best ski resort in LA! Definitely depends on the season. But when it snows it's a great resort especially for beginners. They have a lot of technical features (boxes, jumps, bars) and when the snow dumps you can go through the trees sections/canyon. Such a fun time just be careful of everyone that doesn't know how to board/ski in powder.
All around good vibes. But make sure to be careful of everyone going on the mountain there are a ton of beginners.
Be careful about the roads and make sure to check to see if you need chains before you go up.
For parking. Weekdays the lot is free but first come first serve. Weekends are pain parking at the top lot which you could also get a parking pass for. But if you don't want to pay they have free parking lots with free shuttles that take you up to the resort.
If you get tired of snow summit you can always take a different shuttle to bear mountain. Leaves every 30 mins.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Read before going:
I went to use the bathroom and my $1,000 +
Setup was STOLEN from the racks where everyone leaves their stuff for a moment while they do what they have to do.
I went and told the employees and they told me to scan a lost and found code. And said I need to keep an eye on my stuff........
Essentially meaning anyone can go up to the mountain, locate the most expensive boards and take them, without any care from the the staff....
Two hours after paying 190 for a lift ticket.
Outrageous.
In response to the response:
I left a one star review because
It is common practice for everyone on the mountain to do what I did while using a restroom. I do understand that you guys cannot assume responsibility but my point experience of your mountain was that I can't even go Pee without having to bring my board with me because of the risk of theft.......
That's why I left the review.
Yes your mountain is beautiful thoughHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced. Please be aware that we cannot assume responsibility for personal items left unattended. We regret that you felt compelled to assign a one-star rating for a situation beyond our control. Rest assured, we will actively monitor the Lost & Found in case your board is located.

****UPDATE****
I got in touch with the Yelp account manager so that they could try and resolve this situation by telling me a supervisor will reach me via email and to provide my email address, which I did. I found the email I was waiting to receive on 4/18 telling me to provide my contact information, so I did. Only for the supervisor to reply back to me on the day Snow Summit closes for the season telling pretty much "we are now closed for the season". I felt that that how management handled the situation was definitely a tactic to try to "help" me but didn't care enough to truly access the situation and to truly put in the effort to actually help me and resolve this issue, no matter the time frame. Very disappointing. There are definitely other ski resorts that genuinely care about customer experience but unfortunately based on mine and many others' experiences, that wasn't the case here in Snow Summit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Britney, a direct message was sent to you on Feb 26 at 1:24 PM requesting your contact information to forward to management. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response from you. As per Yelp's policies, we are unable to send follow-up messages without your initial response.
Mar 20, 2024Previous reviewWill now rate one star since I still have not heard back from them via email or Yelp despite management replying to other reviews
Feb 24, 2024Previous reviewI put 2 stars mainly because of the customer experience. I was coming to ski with my friends here and I encountered a very unhelpful and very unfriendly customer service representative named Lo'Anne at the ticket booth. She had a horrible attitude and was very dismissive towards me regarding an inconvenience we had. She didn't even try to resolve the matter at all. Luckily I encountered Rachel and she was a saint and definitely helped me out. I went to speak with a supervisor Lisa regarding Lo'Anne's customer service. Honestly, Lisa was pretty rude in the beginning and was somewhat helpful at the end. They provided me paperwork to fill out so the director can email me regarding my experience with Lo'Anne but I have yet to even hear back from them. This isn't how you treat your customers at all and I've read multiple bad reviews on here as well. Might as well go to other local ski resorts with better service. The only good thing I had here is the flatbread pizza but it is a bit pricey. The slopes are nice but very crowded, probably because I went on a weekend.

I can usually put snow summit at around 3.5 stars. On weekdays and days where there's not a lot of people, summit is definitely a 4 star resort. But when it's peak season/weekends, the mountain easily gets super duper packed. Most the riders that come here are beginners level, so the mountain can be scattered with a lot of traffic. Lines can get up to 20-30 min for a lift when it's at its busiest, just something to keep in mind. A big perk is that the terrain is very beginner and intermediate friendly. If you are looking for a chill place to ride and not be too challenged, this resort is great. Overall, the resort is fine for being a local one, but this resort definitely attracts the most crowds vs big bear and snow valley.

This is probably the best place to ski/snowboard in SoCal. But it's not without its issues. First the good. I feel like this has the best slopes compared to other ski resorts I've been to. The last time I went, the powder was pretty good! Many of lifts are open (especially on the right and left sides of the resort). Unfortunately the main ones near base camp are super crowded during peak times. All in all, a very fun resort that boasts difficulties ranging from beginning bunny hills to extreme double diamonds. Although this may not be the best resort in the world, it's very serviceable and my favorite for SoCal!

Came here for my first couple of times snowboarding and the slopes the had were beginner-friendly. Once I felt I was doing good on the bunny slopes I headed to the longer green slope and it is still a challenge for me. Prob my fave summit in BBM

Review Edited after good Customer Service communication and response to resolve my issue
After Attempting to renew passes this year(spring of 24 for 24/25) for my family and not having clear understanding of the pass renewal deadlines, I had some relatively quick back and forth with customer service who ultimately ended up resolving the issue. For the final resolution I have changed my review and appreciate the customer service making things right. For the customer service taking time to contact me and resolve the issue I think that shows the company cares about its service and customers.
For people interested in season passes I think between Ikon's website with differing dates to Bear Mountain's /Snow Summit's website, the lack of a simple renewal mailer and static renewal dates(ex: always March 1st to April 1st, etc) it is more confusing to renew that it needs to be. For reference to anyone looking to book season passes the most simplistic way to renew passes (but no renewal discount for BBMR, while there is for Ikon) is to know that sometime in early March/before April of the previous season you must renew to receive the best price.
For ski conditions the 23/24 season would get fairly busy on weekends making skiing past 2pm-3 hard. Early morning would be much less busy, but on weekends to save time I'd recommend just paying for the parking pass with little kids. If you don't have kids, there's enough shuttle parking that you could avoid the paid parking.
Customer Service within the park is friendly and they make attempts to help families with kids and keep it enjoyable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks for your feedback, Brian. 24/25 BBMR Season Pass prices went up on April 9th, so the last day to purchase the season passes at the lowest rate of the season was on April 8th. The prices for Ikon Passes will go up on April 18. These are two separate pass types. To avoid any complications, we strongly advise purchasing as soon as possible to secure the best rates. The 24/25 season passes were available for purchase starting March 7, giving you from March 7 to April 8 to take advantage of the spring rates.

Even though Snow Summit boasts 27 trails spread over 240 acres of skiable terrain, with a vertical drop of 1,200 feet and has 14 lifts, I feel that this resort caters mostly to families and children rather than more experienced skiers and adults.
It was a pretty solid mix of terrain, jumps and other features that work well for skiers as well as snowboarders, but I felt like there was a constant threat of snowboarder(s) hitting me unintentionally...so I really went out of my way to go to the less popular lifts.. the ones that go to the so-called "blacks".
Funny enough, those blacks performed more like blue slopes... so I really didn't experience any blacks that I can remember unless I'm missing something.
I'm a solid intermediate skier but I can ski blacks when I want to and I'm not tired.
After 13 runs in 1 day I was pretty content and tired by the end of the ski day.
Its funny, usually I ski with friends this time I went alone. I feel like, for the first time that I can ever remember, I was a better skier than the majority of people going down these slopes... I'm not used to that feeling.
I'm probably giving myself way too much credit.. lolHelpful 16Thanks 2Love this 14Oh no 1Business owner information

Thank you for sharing your experience, Kimberly. Sounds like you're you have some great skiing experience and are looking to progress. We'd love to recommend you check out Bear Mountain during your next trip. Bear Mountain has the only halfpipes, SoCal's highest lift-served peak (8,805 feet), and steepest run (Geronimo).

After living in San Diego for 20+ years, I'm kicking myself for not skiing in Southern California sooner! And this is less than 3 hours away?! (Maybe its cause I finally got myself an AWD car...Subaru WRX). I've skied in Tahoe, Reno, Whitefish, and Salt Lake City...Snow Summit may not be as big and dynamic, but still its still fun and a helluva log closer!
It was a very snowy season in California this year, and it shows! Late April and there was still plenty of wonderful powder on these mountains! I stuck with the the beginner slopes and some intermediate slopes, all were well maintained and the lengths were decent enough...so fun!
Friendly staff all around at the ticket booth, bars and food areas, and equipment rental. $115 for the life ticket, and $67 to rent skis, boots and pools...pretty standard pricing overall. And $10 for a very bland cheeseburger.
Warnings:
-all the snowboarders seem to enjoy sitting on their butts right smack in the middle of slopes, and just chill there. Y'all are obstacles, get of the way! Move to the side if you need a break!
-Quite a lot of people were drinking at the bars...I understand its a big business, but seems a bit dangerous to have boozy snowboarders and skiers. Hopefully the bartenders don't overserve.
-$6 for water bottles...bring your own!
-If you can, book your lift ticket and rentals online in advance, I've heard this place can sell out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1Business owner information

We are SO happy to hear about your experience at Snow Summit, Chun! Thank you for taking the time to write a review and provide photos of your spring skiing experience. We can't wait to see you on the slopes next season and every season after that :)

Insanely busy. No management for safety whatsoever.
1) I watched a new snowboarder come off a beginner lift and fall. The lift operator was SO FAR cheering people on he could NOT hit the button to stop in time. The guy was 6'4" or so...he barely cleared the chair over his back. It literally scraped over him. He was startled and I never saw him again.
2) Summit Run: the "advanced" beginner run...you have boarders flying down on the heels of kids. I saw 3 people go out on stretchers, one with a bloodied face. For a busy Ski Week with fresh snow, they need someone out monitoring and revoking tickets for anyone out of control in a beginner area like they do in larger resorts.
3) Food lines: crazy. Waited 25-30 minutes to get lunch
4) Parking: sold out every day. Shuttle lines were very long.
For tickets that are over $100/ day. In Bug Bear!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 22, 2020Previous reviewWe are at the peak of covid and Snow Summit does absolutely nothing to enforce their "policy."
So many in line without masks. Even the guy working. What a disappointment and concern.
So many years knowing this place and I expect more to keep us safe. They fell short. Super short.
