Every year my family takes a vacation for Thanksgiving. We used to go from place to place, experiencing new and unforgettable places..... until we went to Jackson Hole and stayed at The Snow King Resort. After our first visit there we knew we were home.
The condos are amazing. Large and comfortable, plenty of storage space for large, cold weather clothes.
Every room has a spectacular view.
It's extremely peaceful and quiet.
Nice kitchens, stocked with everything you would need to make a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner.
The resort is located in a great place, it's extremely easy to find your way around town.
This resort really does feel like home. -

The Jackson of my youth was a far different place.
I first came here in 1994 when I was a little kid. Jackson was a different place back then. People were very social, friendly, and kind. As a kid I spent 2 months a year in Jackson and I made a lot of friends who I will never forget. Last year I decided to see if I could track down some of those childhood friends so I returned to Jackson and decided to stay at the Snow King. I assumed that because they charge the most money, and it is a "historic landmark of cultural significance in Jackson", that it would be a great stay. Unfortunately, there wasn't that many reviews on this place on Yelp back then, and I ended up a bit disappointed. Jackson ain't a friendly town no more, and the people living here are not the same type of folks I remember. The cowboys are gone, and now the town is overrun by hipsters, artists, and probably the same people who join those freeloading "occupy wallstreet" rallies.
This place costs as much as a JW Marriott, but it's not all luxurious like those expensive 5-star resorts. The interior of this place looks more like a Texas theme steakhouse or Frontier Land at Disney. The rooms were large, but slightly dirty. There were dents and holes all over the walls from people bringing in their snowboards and skis. The lobby carpet was soaking wet for some reason even though it was August and it didn't snow or rain in weeks.
The girl at the front desk surprised me the most. I assumed if you are charging $200+ per night that the staff would be trained to provide exceptional customer service like at those 5-star hotels. But this worker, who was covered from head to toe with tattoos barely said a word to me and was leaning back on her chair like she was about to fall asleep. She didn't explain to me where my room was located, or where the elevators were, or what amenities the hotel provided.
They do got free internet here, but it is so slow that you won't be able to go on most websites. I tried to check my email for about 40 minutes, but hotmail just wouldn't load in. Around midnight I noticed a guy who looked like "Thugnificent" sitting in the middle of the hallway with his laptop. He told me that he had discovered that the exact particular spot where he was sitting was the only place in the whole hotel where the internet actually was going at a moderate speed.
The things I like about this hotel are: it is walking distance from town square, and they don't have cockroaches. But, that's all I could think of now.
If you've never been to Jackson, all I can tell you is that there really isn't a "bad" place to stay. Everything is pretty mediocre. You can get a much cheaper room in this town and it will be the same quality. -

Not a bad spot. Not really a resort either. Nice hotel with a few nice services. They do have a really big hot tub which was nice (weak bubbles and the water was warm, not hot).
Amenities were OK. Sorta a rustic kinda charm. Price is reasonable for a holiday weekend. -

Pretty awesome considering you can walk from town and they have night skiing. Not much to it, but it's a fun hill if it's not too crowded.

While visiting Jackson, it's kind of hard to miss Snow King. It's right in the middle of town, just a couple blocks from downtown. The location, affordability and option to ski/board at night make Snow King worth checking out...
Snow King is considered a 'racers mountain'. While we were visiting the resort was hosting slalom ski races, which meant part of the mountain was off limits to us. This isn't a large mountain to begin with, only 3 lifts (plus a surface tow for the bunny slope), so having part of it be off-limits really does limit you. Thankfully lift tickets were inexpensive. $42 for a full day, we saved $10 by showing up at lunch and getting half-day passes. Both full and half-day passes are good for night skiing/boarding as well.
We ended up coming back for a night session on our last night in Jackson (a Saturday), and they were going a buy-one-get-one-free special. Night sessions are usually $20/each. I was pretty beat up from boarding already by the time Saturday rolled around, so I ended up chilling in the lodge by the fire. Ask for the Abbey Road, it's the specialty of the manager of the bar... It is espresso and a bunch of booze and oh so tasty. Perfect thing to sip after playing in the snow.
Apparently when the season ends in late March, there is a snowmobile hill climb up the steepest part of the mountain. I would love to go back and check that out because damn, that hill is steep!
I heard from some locals that Snow King is probably going to be going out of business soon, the owners aren't putting any money into it and that makes it difficult to compete with Teton Village. If you are in the area, may want to check this one out while you still can!Listed in: Snowy Adventures

The location and condos on the hill above the hotel are really quite nice. Unfortunately, the staff at this establishment were less than friendly and not that together. I would even go so far as to call them flakey.
The food in the Atrium restaurant was really boring for the price as well. You would do much better to either walk, drive or take the free city bus into town. It's a short walk, about 10 minutes. -

On our way to Yellowstone, the Snow King Resort offered us a small, carpet stained, thoroughly average, and really overpriced ($240.00 discount price) room. Maybe one should expect this from a ski resort in the summer...OK...but here's the rub...breakfast of any variety was not included in the high price of our room...and this is where they totally blew it for me!
We were served the most expensive miserable breakfast I have ever eaten! I'm talking cold white toast served with cold previously frozen unseasoned hash browns with cold eggs and forgettable coffee you had to beg to get seconds on! The food here was down right pathetic and the service was just as appalling!
The servers were all imported from Eastern Europe and barely spoke English, and while they extended a little effort to do the right thing...they had zip for training! I guess the management thought they would automatically come here knowing the proper etiquette for serving American vacationers. Poor kids didn't have a clue...even about the basics! Refill coffee cups? Bring bills to the table? Serve the customers before resetting an empty table?
We spent $40.00 for two people! Trust me...you could get the same thing only HOT at Denny's! It's obvious the resort is sitting on the laurels of it's past reputation because little or no energy was extended on keeping its name in tact. -

My fiance and I loved staying at Snow King when we visited Jackson, WY! From the room accommodations to the nearby activities, the experience at Snow King really enhanced our vacation!
We enjoyed the variety of activities at the resort, including the Alpine Slide and ski lift. The view from the ski lift is spectacular--it's difficult to find such an amazing view without doing some hiking. We even enjoyed just sitting on the hillside in front of the hotel and admiring the beautiful mountains around us.
The room had a nostalgic mountain lodge feel. The bed was firm and comfortable--the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring nearby Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Reasonable prices, well-kept rooms, lots of parking, and great location near Jackson town square! We plan to stay at Snow King on our future trips to Jackson! -

Have stayed both in the hotel and the Pitchfork condos for a medical conference held at the Snow King conference room - have to say the hotel rooms are nice but dark (limited lighting) and the condos are nice but on the "worn" side, i.e., needs to be refurbished.
But, we were happy with the full sized refridgerator, oven/stove and microwave. Location is great whether in the hotel or condo, within a 5 minute walk into town - best to stay out and enjoy the town of Jackson! -

We stayed here off season and had an amazing experience. Our room was immaculate, comfortable, and beautiful. Nice firm bed, cozy comforter...It was super quiet and relaxing. We took the Scenic Chairlift (torture for someone afraid of heights like myself) and then hiked down the mountain. The views of Jackson Hole were amazing from the top (see my pictures).

I love to snowboard, lets just get that out of the way.The snow king is by far the best experience snowboarding I've ever had, for the price. 500 bucks a week for a slope side,, pool side.... you could see the steam coming off the jacuzzi ROOM!! Not to mention this is were all the locals go. The dive bar is insane. Enough people to have fun but not too crowded to be annoying. I swear every time I had a drink so did the bartender. If i wasn't buying he was or another fun loving person from the bar was. I can't wait to go back to this place. I was told the Austrian super G ski team practices here because there's snow when they don't have any and the mountain is Knarsville like the ones back in the motherland. Don't be fooled these are steep ass hills, but when there is a drink and an hot tub at the bottom of the hill that you could board right into... the fear seems to go away. all in all the best deal in the area.. check it out.
