2049 Pearl StThere is one reason to love Snarf's: The Prime Rib Sandwich.
Get it with everything. Savor it. Love it. And smoke a cigarette when you're finished. I don't smoke, but it makes me want to start.
Best sandwich in Boulder! MMMMMMM.

There is something unique about a Snarf's sandwich. It is a like a memory not easily forgotten; a lingering thought on the tip of your taste buds.
There are many chains where you can order a toasted sub, but they do not even compare. Somehow the bread at Snarf's is perfectly toasted, every time.
I am convinced they put some sort of liquid crack on the sandwich when you are not looking. Even the most basic sandwich, say Turkey and Swiss, is transformed into a special treat at Snarf's.
When you order, I highly recommend getting *Everything* on your sandwich. The combo of the marinated peppers (with odd little vegetable pieces? mixed in), mustard, mayo, oil, pickles etc all fuses together on the warm bread to form a heavenly; dripping sauce of amazingly complimentary flavor.
We always call our orders in, pick up some beer from Liquor Mart, and the sandwiches are ready 15 minutes later. Much better than waiting in line =).
Snarfs is also a local shop, which means you should support it! Eat here and your inner food demons will be satisfied for hours.

I love Snarf's. I don't know why. It's just a sandwich. But I love it. I love the prime rib & provolone and the portabello mushroom & provolone.
Snarf's has always been a local favorite. When Snarf's was just a tiny stand on Pearl St. and there were no tables to sit at, I still happily chowed down my sandwich in the car. Now that Snarf's has expanded to include tables, chairs, and a bathroom, I can actually enjoy my sandwich while it's hot (and go to the bathroom).
1 star off: the bathroom is dirty
Yes please.
I like the Boulder locations... but live in Longmont and have been gifted with a Snarf's that has more seating but the same incredible sandwiches.
I have to agree with another reviewer - it's like they slather on liquid crack somewhere along the line.
In Longmont the wait isn't soooooo bad, and the booth seating is a bonus. This is quite possibly the best sub shop I've been to in Colorado.

Make no mistake: If you arrive anywhere NEAR lunch hour, you are going to be standing in a long line. But if you're willing to wait for it, these sandwiches are PREPOSTEROUS.
I always get a Pro Snarf (equivalent to about a footlong sub) prime rib and provolone. Toasted. With everything, oh yes, please.
I then eat half of it, wrap the other half back in the paper and take it home to eat cold for dinner, if I can make myself wait that long. Usually it doesn't make it past 4pm.
The people are awesome, the shop has a fantastic feel to it, and although it doesn't look like there's much seating, a lot of people can make new friends at the tables under the awning or at the round mosaic umbrella tables out front. Parking can be a bit of an issue, though.
Due to the time needed to park, order, wait impatiently, and finally get a seat, I recommend that you make your first trip here on a day you don't have much else going on around lunchtime. This is a unique Boulder experience, and it deserves your full and unhurried attention. You will be justly rewarded.
SNARF!

You will wait for your sandwich for at least twice as long as you probably should, but 99% of the time it is totally worth the wait. Best Italian sub ever.

After a pretty long hiatus from Boulder, I'm glad to be working there again for many reasons, including being able to walk a few blocks for some Snarfilicious sandwiches.
You'd be missing out on one of the best sandwiches in Boulder if you judged a book by it's cover. The Pearl St. location of Snarf's looks like an e coli epidemic waiting to happen (and honestly, I don't want to know how close to the truth that is), but puts out sandwiches that you just can't get anywhere else in Colorado.
I can't speak for the quality for all of the toppings as I have a general disdain for tomatoes and crisphead lettuce, but the oil, spicy peppers, pickled celery all really help make the sandwich. There are a wide variety of meats and cheeses available-- I'd say their specialty is the Prime Rib sandwich, though I did have one a few days ago which I thought was undercooked.
I've saved the best part for last-- the bread! From what I can tell, Snarf's uses their own baguettes which have been slightly under-baked. Once they are done putting the meat and cheese on your sandwich, they roll it through a toaster (just like Quizno's) for what I consider one of the best sandwich breads I've ever had! It has a very thin crispy layer on the outside, but the inside is nice and soft. Easily the most eatable baguette you'll ever sink your teeth into. I plan on returning to France soon to slap around various baguette vendors for not being able to compete with the snarfy deliciousness of Snarf's bread.
A couple of other bonuses that casual eaters at Snarf's may not notice-- they have a great selection of milkshakes with flavors you can't get anywhere else (chocolate chip mint and orange dream, for instance), and they have a very good selection of beverages including many diet soda's, typical Boulder mainstays such as Izze, etc.
Other than the prime rib sandwich I had last week, this place has been very consistent and delicious over the years, and definitely is somewhere you MUST eat if you live or visit Boulder. They will be moving across the street soon into a new location, so hopefully the place will have a better aesthetic appeal once they've moved. I tried to give it four stars because of said appeal, but I just can't do it-- I'm too much of a snarfaholic.

I don't live in Boulder but went under the recommendation of a friend. YUM is what I can say. I think it was the toasted bread that made the sandwich awesome. And the fact that I was starving.
It will probably be the place I eat whenever I am in Boulder needing a quick bite.
One of the best subs I have ever had. I have tried almost every sub on the menu and all it has done is made my decision everytime I go that much more difficult.....they were all delicious
I visited Boulder this summer and immediately became obsessed with Snarf's after checking it out based on a friend's recommendation. The subs taste amazing and they deliver! I was conflicted about whether or not I should drop one star for service. Don't get me wrong, at first 'The Clerks' meets 'Dazed and Confused' service was amusing and even appreciated, but at times it got old. Either way these guys are super nice and awesome, and if you want a delicious sandwich you can't go wrong.
Worth the wait. My husband could eat their sandwiches for every meal.
Its really hard to find a place that readily has horseradish available for their sandwiches but these guys always do, get the roast beef and provalone with everything on it including the horseradish and wash it down with a can of Dr. Pepper. That is what I call lunch! The sandwiches are big and a great value, they toast 'em to order and the ingredients are fresh. Like much of Boulder, yes there are stoner kids working the line but what do you expect, they're young and its Boulder.
Ohh Snarfs..how I long for you. Their sandwiches are so good that you will stand in line in 90 degree heat while stuffed in the small trailer home/sandwich shop.
My favs are the "Italian" and the "Meatball". I usually order a "snarfs" size which leaves 1/2 for a snack later on. If I am feeling good I will even order a malt shake to wash everything down.
One side note..if you really liked Nirvana unplugged it is usually playing in the trailer.
This is THE sandwich place in Boulder. Well, one of the sandwich shops at least. According to my crew, there is a triumvirate of sandwich shops that define Boulder: Salvaggio's, Foolish Craig's and, of course, Snarf's.
Snarf's makes a mean BLT and a killer Italian, and I've never had a bad sandwich there. The best part, though, is the atmosphere. If it's summer in Boulder, get yourself to Snarf's, get your grub and then find a picnic table in the shade. That's Boulder in a nutshell.

God, I miss this place. I seriously consider moving back to Boulder just for Snarf's sometimes. Snarf's should expand their delivery range to the Bay Area. How exciting would it be to pass through Wendover all time? Think about it.

Best sandwich in Boulder. Hands down, no competition, no one else has a chance. The lines are humongous during the lunch hour rush, and you can spend as much as 25 minutes waiting for your food. But if you wait until 1pm or after, there is hardly any wait at all.
Not half bad.
Ate here last night, in fact, on account of dire hunger from moving and having no groceries. So I was...choice-less, essentially. Saw this bangin' fluorescent hot spot and couldn't resist! This portabello sandwich was truly Dank. Now I will know I can come back. Really, it was very good. Very flavorful. Very filling. Hit the spot, you know? Though, there is a certain unpleasantry associated with employees plucking the skin of chicken or turkey or something and then telling me about it....but I don't blame them for it.
One of the better sandwich places in town. Pricey? You're in Boulder. This is the land of pricey. You can pay less but you get what you pay for. Try Subway if you want a cheap crappy sub sandwich. Most decent places in town charge just about $10 for a sandwich. Obscene, I agree but other than the big chain places what choice do you have?
Not the best sandwich you will ever eat but by Boulder standards one of the top five sandwich spots. Stick with the meat-based options. Get one of the daily specials for the best under $10 deals (includes drink and chips).
Best sandwiches you'll ever eat might be an overstatement, but coming from this critical sandwich muncher, I have to agree that this place is pretty damn good, and consistent, which is very important for any sandwich joint worth its snuff. Key elements that Snarf's masters are:
toasted with cheese
excellent hot peppers
baguettes with crunchy exterior and soft interior
long, yet manageable sandwiches (don't over-read this)
great prices
nice interesting drinks besides your regular soda pop
mmm. I'm craving one right now.

Delicious, pricey, over-the-counter sandwiches. Although I''ve only had the "veggie" and the artichoke and feta cheese subs...they are both excellent. If you like it spicy, asking for "everything" includes some yummy chile peppers (not pepperchinis which are only allegedly spicy). I took off one star though because paying almost 10 bucks for a foot long sub that you have to order at a counter is borderline absurd. Still, if you've got the loot and you don't mind not being waited on proper likes, then these sandwiches are hard to beat.
Classic and delicious gut-bomb subs. Cute hut of a neighborhhod resturant. Fun place to go for ice cream. I'd be interested to know what the health inspector has to say about this place.
I snarfed at Snarf's. It was snarfy. The snarf was snarf and the snarf was also snarfalicious. I don't think I will ever be able to snarf another snarf. I give a big five snarfs for making the snarf a better snarf.

kelly w. did it and so did liz w. and now it's my turn cuz we three used to eat here together all the time. And there's a good reason why we always wanted to order snarf's sandwiches whether sober, hungover, or stoned- they are the best. I agree with liz in that i wish there was a sandwich shop like this near me. There's not and when i crave a snarf's sandwich no other place does the trick. The bread is toasted just right and their hot peppers and combo of oil/vinegar, salt/pepper make every sandwich just that much better. My faves are the portobello mushroom & provolone, eggplant parm, and turkey & swiss. Soooooo good.
As a side note, kelly w. did always order the "pro" size with the intention of eating it later but mostly it just sat in our fridge until it got too old to eat. What a waste! Being a vegetarian at the time, I could never scavenge this italian sandwich from her. Kel, your eyes are bigger than your stomach for sure.
I recommend the "snarf" size (medium) which i finish in it's entirity and is the perfect amount of sandwich.

Snarf's has the best sandwiches you'll ever eat...and I'm not exaggerating. They put all sorts of crazy toppings on the huge baguette sandwiches like pickled celery, jalapenos and weird sauces. Any way you look at it though - if you're in Boulder Colorado and don't go here you should be shot.
