so Keystone lacks places to eat and hang out during the off-season. after a day at the spa, my friend and i were ready to finally venture outside our hotel and check out this local hangout.
so Snack River Saloon seems interesting - it sounds like it should be some cowboy country club or something. but the place is split into a restaurant and a bar.

i was in the mood for BBQ ribs, and my friend got the ('petit' portion) prime rib, and we were to share... SHARE? i wanted to steal her plate!!! the prime rib was juicy, pink in the center like it's supposed to be, and tender like the night.
the food was well beyond our expectations for a place that was very casual - you can wear jeans and i don't mean your fancy expensive pair.

after dinner we went next door to the bar where there was a live band playing. a lot of locals hang out here, and we met a few people in town for a bachelor party... i'm not sure how exciting it would be to hang out in a divish bar/restaurant for bachelor party, but hey to each their own.
the music was ok, the crowd was about 90% male (and you thought Man-Jose was bad!) but unlike the bay area, it seemed that all the guys are pretty chilled and not window-shopping you just because you happen to be of the XX chromosome. a random guy did try to hit on my friend (and a buddy wing for him to distract me from her) but that's pretty much on par with what you'd expect in a typical dive bar on a saturday night.
i wish we can do half stars... I would give this place 3.5 stars....
Snake River Saloon is an interesting adventure, very decent food, good crowd at the bar - a solid 3 Stars.
Where do I start. $5 cover for a band that cam hardly shave. Guitarist was good. The drummer was WAY over the top..poor guy. He really, really wanted to be noticed. There were a bunch of Tweens there, probably because of the band. Then there was the service. Awful. We sat for over ten minutes without any acknowledgement and went to the bar to get our own drinks. Then when the band started the server finally came over, the one with the macrame necklace. She took our order and then made us prepay?!!! Really!!! She was thoroughly unprofessional. Lastly, the TVs were on with the volume down. Nuggets v. Knicks 3 point spread with 90 seconds to go. They shut off the game so we could listen to the band (drummer ugh) warm up. Thanks! Won't be back for a band or that server but their mushrooms rock!
Great venue, terrible, rude bartender dude. Enough to make me not want to come back.
Appatently this is the palce to go before hitting up the Goat. Met some interesting people. I've actually enjoyed a nice Salmon dinner here at the restaurant. The bar is a whole different story. Hot boarders everywhere. Good times.
This place is great. I've been here two times...March 07 and March 08. Whether you are in the bar or in the restaurant, it's fantastic. The bar is a whole different experience from the restaurant. The restaurant is a bit upscale and the food is scrump-diddly-umscious! The restaurant is a bit pricey..but totally worth it! I highly recommend Snake River Saloon if you're in the Keystone/Breckenridge area!
