When I first invited a friend to Snacky, they chortled. Through the nose. I agree, it is a whimsical name. It makes one think of a small hungry pup, or the feeling you get at 11 pm and you're on one of those godawful southbeachlowcarb monster diets. you feel "SNACKY."  I really like this place, I  do. The decor is fun and kitschy, right down to their paper lit up palaces, huge japanese waving cats and a cardboard tv diorama that houses a pastoral bambi -like scene.  I think their food is ok and i'm ashamed to say that I haven't tried their kimchee hot dogs (since I am korean and eating kimchee is up there with say flossing or maybe breathing).

I go for the Miso Pork and greens, the excellent "Juicy Buns" and all types of dumplings. They sell soju which is like korean sake. Beware, however! Soju can knock you off your feet. I get the asahi, sit at the counter and eat as much chinese buns with pork as i can handle. sometimes i get the bibimbop which is like a hot pot with meat and veggies. And I sweat. gloriously, all korean style. My boyfriend sweats too. He is not korean but he sweats all korean-like. which makes me proud of him. Go. it's a good time and super cheap.

If I could, I would put this adorable place in my pocket, feed it mini M&M'S and call it George. I was so taken by the look and feel of this place, I can only wish they would open a location (on my block!) in Cambridge, MA.

They have a fun lil' sake and soju cocktail list, along with beer and wines, and the menu includes all the foods that make my belly happy. I had the pork and shrimp dumplings and they were just the right amount of crispy outside and yummy inside. My friends ordered the pork and chive dumplings (also good) and some noodle dish (forgot which one, but that was really good too).

All in all, the food is your typical Asian cuisine with lots of noodle and rice dishes to choose from, but for some reason I just completely fell in love with this place. It's enough to make me want to move back to New York just to stop in every night!

I well and truly heart snacky.

I don't talk like that normally, with hearts and stars and such..
but the cuteness and convenience of snacky does odd things to me.

[[umm  I had a crush on the boy owner (co-owned by brother and sister) for a while..but it's been 2 years since i've lived there, gimme some slack!]]

They play 20's and 30's era chinese swing music occasionally. .
The cold sesame noodles are perfect.

This is comfort food at it's guiltypleasurest!!

i'm surprised that there's not more metion in the other reviews of the kimchee hot dog.
could it be that my fellow reviewers have not tried it??
it is my main reason for going to snacky.
it's also fun to watch people drink blue cocktails out of a buddha belly, too, but the hot dog! the hot dog! oh, and the little slider size burgers. i forget what they call them, but they make a sauce involving kewpie mayo.... yummy :)

If you live in williamsburg and crave ramen, this is your best bet. At $8 for a large bowl, it's not so bad, and it's pretty tasty. The service is less than stellar (the woman who owns the place isn't the friendliest, and tends  to put too much head on a beer), but it's good for hanging out in small groups and getting your sake fix along with some greasy salty asian snacks like pizza with chinese sausage, kimchi-hotdog which is awesome, and dumplings, which are overpriced. But hey, like I said, if you need your fix...  Like any other place on a weekend, it can get crowded, but there is always room at the bar, and it's great for weekday-goers.

this is one of the better neighborhood places i've been to in any city i can think of. it doesn't come off as a restaurant, so it feels cozy and friendly without any pretentiousness one might expect of a place so small. i was intrigued by the sake options, even though i went with the uncrushable sapporo cans to quench my thirst. the hot pot is, agreeably, one of the better choices to pick from amongst so many delicious selections. this is also a great place to start off an evening of heavy drinking in the area. and, although small, we fit a group of about fourteen people in the back section comfortably. added bonus: the owners are amazing people who will pop out to say hey to customers. this is a huge plus if you intend on frequenting a place. as i've said before, customer recognition will make me want to return more often than not.
