I know Smokey Bones is a chain, but this location is really good. The smoked wings are my favorite and they crust their baked potatoes in course salt...MMMM. I've had good service in house and take out. Their rewards program is really great too and I always get lots of coupons for them. They have decent brisket and chicken too.

Why do people always complain about chains having generic food? Duhhh it's a chain

Anyways my review is to say when ordering online, and putting in a coupon code, make sure to explain it carefully when picking up the food so when the order gets processed they don't have to correct it which can lead to your bank having the order in pending transactions for 5 days and depriving you of money you could use otherwise

This was not the best BBQ I've had. I ordered a choose three combo. I got pull pork, it was really dry. The brisket was fatty, over sauced and sliced way to thin. The smoked sausage was pretty good. Thank god for the sides of onion rings and cole slaw or it would have been a big disappointment.
The service was also slow and somewhat inept.

Wow, this was awful. I wanted to like it so bad. I'm not a BBQ snob, I'm not a huge food snob, but I hated this place.

We went on a Saturday night and called ahead, no wait at 8:30. Kind of weird... I was blown away by how awesome their drink menu was. Under $5 for a drink? Seriously? There were $4-8 drinks and plenty of beer options. I was so excited.

The mood was really low-key. There was a quiet folksy band playing and it just wasn't the right type of band for a fun bar, more like a grandparents' house.

The BF got an appetizer sampler. I got nachos. The sampler was kinda lame. Small portion of fries, some chicken fingers, and delicious tex mex chicken things. It was just small for $10 and definitely not really shareable. I got nachos and they sucked. A lot. I was appalled. I got the chili on the side and the BF didn't even like that. One poster said the chips were overwhelmed with toppings. Did Smokey Bones read the review and rework their nachos? The salsa was a little smokey and good but there was barely anything on the nachos. Little cheese, barely any lettuce, and some tomatoes. AND they were barely cooked. Cheese wasn't even melted and not even good. Ugh, I was so disappointed. Our waitress was barely there and I didn't want to waste my time sending it back. Seriously, nachos are soooo easy to make. Messing them up is sacrilege.

I wanted to love it so bad and then blah. I would probably go back and just drink and have half price apps after 10. But no nachos.

It was 11 PM on a Friday Night.

After a night at the Comcast center the fiancee and I wanted to grab some late night snacks and he wanted a beer to kick off the weekend.  He joined their email club and got a coupon for a free appetizer (up to a $9 value). So we stopped in.

They had their late night menu which was fine we just wanted an appetizer anyway. He got a $3 22 oz Bones Brew which he liked and hey its a great deal. My diet pepsi was $2.75 can you saw rip off. I should have got a beer.

So we showed the waitress the coupon and she said we could use it but had to spend $9. She apparently cannot read. I explain it to her and how that would make no sense. She goes to the hostess who tells her I am right and she needs to learn how to read lol.

So we ordered this smokey bones appetizer sampler. It was so gross. I think it had been cooked around 6 PM, left out and then microwaved it at 11 PM. It had southwest spring rolls which tasted like dough and refried beans, cheese and bacon fries which where cold and some chicken fingers which where inedible they where so hard.

Good thing it was free and I wasn't all that hungry because I didn't eat much.

Lastly, its a BBQ place. Why on earth where they playing ghetto rap so loud our table was shaking.

I'll admit I'm a BBQ snob. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant one star is that I realize that Smokey Bones is just another chain. My entire table found at least something wrong with their dish to complain about. Overall the dishes that hit our table were the St. Louis Style ribs, BBQ Brisket, Smoked Wings and Pulled Pork. The only side of interest was the "Fancy" Mac & Cheese.

With the exception of the wings (finished Memphis style), the BBQ meats were very dry and just hard to eat. The mac and cheese was from the "Fanciest" side menu and cost an extra $3. Terrible. We sent it back. Kraft instant puts this mac and cheese to shame. It was that bad. To top off the disappointing food, the service was the slowest I've experienced in a while.

Overall, if you love the chain food scene and would like to try BBQ versions, good luck. All others, go find a real BBQ Pit somewhere.

I could DRINK the Carolina Dipping Sauce they keep on the table here!

We live right around the corner from Smokey Bones and LOVE this place. When my parents come to visit from Oregon, it's the first place they want to go. The service is always great and they're very understanding about occasionally-wild kids (the servers seem to think throwing food on the floor is "cute").

I almost always get the pulled pork and fire-roasted corn when we go (my favorite combo) but occasionally branch out and have never been dissapointed. We've picked up their larger-sized sides and appetizers for parties at home, too, and they never fail to give you excellent portions.

If you've never had enough room for dessert when visiting this restaurant, save room for donuts! They come in a paper bag and taste just like the ones we used to make at home when I was a kid.

I can't say much about the beers and alcohol selection since I don't drink, but we love this family-friendly BBQ place!

Good place for a bucket of beer. We only eat at the bar, restaurant service proved slow and/or bad the 5-6 times we went.
The sirloin steak is great, as is many of their salads. Donuts, corn bread, side orders awesome. There are some creepy other managers, in particular a male one that leers at the younger bar staff, and appears to be more interested in flirting and joking around with the servers and bartenders than the keeping the patrons happy. The bartenders are inconsistent, Crystal is great, but there are a few that think its cute to have their shirts 1/2 way up their back (to reveal piercings that are pretty gruesome), or will leave the bar to eat at a booth, thusly making it awkward if you actually need them to provide service. The managers need to get ahold of their staff, it appears they are more interested in friendships with them, than leading them to give good effecient service. Its a shame, because there are some good deals here, and the food is not bad.

Have your fat jeans and performance fleece not been getting enough action? Smokey Bones is the PERFECT place for them! Not only do the large straight men/families enjoy this place, but the starving and gym deticated gays are a riot to watch ad they lick their elbows clean of amazing bbq sauce. Yes, at Smokey Bones it IS possible to lick them.

I opted for the smoked turkey platter. While I wanted something covered in sticky dark sauce, they are known for their smoking so, that was easy. For 8 bucks you get a huge portion of turkey and 2 sides(i got fire roasted corn and broccoli). My friend got a chicken breast covered in sharp cheddar, bacon and fried onions...and 2 sides(the baked beans were killer) for 8 bucks. RIGHT?! I got the "healthy" sides cuz you know. Thats how I do. BUT they have amazing looking loaded potatoes, fried, onion rings. Mmmm. I saw this plate of Nachos come by covered in pulled chicken and pork, cheese and all the good nacho fixings.

You will get messy. We didtnt order anything with bbq sauce but ended up with it on our clothes. What the crappppp.

Another work meeting that called for lunch. I went out on a limb, because I haven't been to Smokey Bones in over a year. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised by our order.

I called and asked if they would deliver the order in two days since no one was free to pick it up - yes! Love it when a place starts out accommodating. I ordered the "Office Space Jam" for 25 people for $9.25/pp:   8 lbs. of pulled pork, 4 whole BBQ chickens, garlic bread, a couple of racks of St. Louis ribs, fire roasted corn, mashed redskin potatoes and gravy and I added baked beans.  Awesome!

The food arrived hot and tasty in foil service trays, covered tightly and boxed to travel. Plates, napkins, utensils, wet naps - everything was there, I just added people. Seriously, grown men and women were drooling and trying not to lick their fingers as fast as they ate!

There wasn't anything in that order that anyone said, "oh you know ______ could have been better . . . "  - it was all good!

They were friendly, helpful, accommodating and included a handful of coupons with the order- what more could you ask for? Oh, I guess you could ask that the order could feed 27 people PLUS enough for the extra plates that people take home, PLUS some leftover chicken in the office kitchen for lunch on Friday.

Go there, have a drink and relax with some yummy food, priced right- you will be happy. You will have sticky fingers, but you will love it!

I rarely ever go to Smokey Bones, but I stopped in the other night for a little trivia challenge.  Every Wednesday, they host a Trivia Night that begins at 8pm, running until 10:30ish.  The trivia is divided into sub-parts and the categories range from Music to History to Science to Literature, etc.  These questions come at you in forms of labeling pictures to answering a questionaire on paper to answering singular questions on a notepad.  When I went here a couple weeks ago, there were about 5-7 teams involved-- you're not supposed to have more than 6 per group, but they are not too strict about that.

The real reason I am yelping about Smokey Bones, though, is for their Chicken Chili Nachos.  These were surprisingly tasty for a chain restaurant.  The platter consisted of fresh tortilla chips covered in chicken and beef chili, red and green onions, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, and cheddar-jack cheese.  The chip to topping proportion was a little off, but I always overload my chips anyway.  The chili tasted pretty good, and I loved all the diced veggies.  I was happy with the nachos, and it was even better that after 9pm, all appetizers are free!  Thus, are nachos were only $5 for a huge platter. Definitely worth it.  These nachos are worth checking out if you happen to be going here for a random night out with friends.

For my "Nacho Average Reviews" list: solid 3 stars

A great stop-in before or after a trip to Ikea since it's right down the road.  The environment is welcoming & reminds me a bit of a ski lodge with all the wooden beams.  & while their tv's are not LCDs or anything, there are plenty & if you get a good seat at the bar, you can watch like 5 things at once.

From what I could tell, they didn't have too many options of beer on draft, but the usual standbys go great with BBQ & are affordable (was $3.99 for a Sam Adams).  I got the loaded baked potato topped with beef brisket & a side salad.  While the potato peel was a bit stiff, the beef brisket was melt in your mouth awesome & I don't know if I'll ever have another baked potato that will be able to stand up to this one.

Definitely will stop in here again if in the area.

it's a chain restaurant plain and simple.

You are not going to get earth shattering food here, it will be the same as it was the last time you were there, you can get in and out quickly, nothing special.

Barbecue for the masses.  Had the Smokehouse burger (sans bacon-  too many bacon added dishes for me).  More tang than heat.  Tasty, as in BBQ lite.  Server Chris was very friendly, maybe a little over the top, but that beats the alternative.  For real BBQ, I'll head to Braintree, but there was nothing this trip that would keep me from visiting again.

My friends and I stopped by here after an exhausting day spent in Ikea (I just wasn't in the mood for cheap, faux-Swedish food). After ditching a way-too-packed Olive Garden, we walked across the parking lot to Smokey Bones.

Definitely one of my better choices of the night (the weirdly-named, $12.99 table, as cheap as it was, looks sooo crappy). I ordered the pulled pork and chicken fingers combo with onion rings and mashed potatoes on the side (don't judge me, I'm a hungry woman!).

Whoa baby. Maybe it was my utter fatigue or terrible starvation, but my dish was goooood! I didn't even finish my plate (SO RARE PEOPLE!).

I'm never really in Stoughton, but I might stop by next time I'm in the area? Hell, there's a BJs only two feet away!

Dinner started out with a flat soda, but they had the best spinach and artichoke dip (the Spin Dip) I've had, hands down. They even sprinkle feta on top. The flimsy tortilla chips weren't up to the task though, they kept folding under the weight of the dip.

I got the pulled pork and beef brisket combo. They were both really good but the beef brisket was the best. Really, really flavorful. I think the menu says it marinates for 24 hours. The only thing I didn't like here was the mashed potatoes. They had the look of homemade but the taste of potato flakes from the box.

    Otherwise, really good.

I am being generous with 3 stars but hope that this review gets read by management and corrects a few issues.

Like many people, I have a pet peeve about cleanliness.  Simple things like glasses and eat utensils.  This is my biggest complaint here.

The sirloin steak was excellent.  Cooked perfectly. Tender and tasty.
If there was a rib-eye steak on the menu, that would have been great.

The noise level was perfect.  Not a zoo like Texas Roadhouse.

Service was so-so.  Perhaps that was due to going on a Monday night.
The waitress wasn't the most attentive.

We like to go here with our daughter... with the TV's and Nickelodeon, it's like we're on a date!  The food is good if you like BBQ.  I like the pulled pork, the beans, and the corn bread appy is great.

BUT, AVOID-LIKE-THE-PLAGUE the waitress named Dorothy-G... holy crap she totally sucked!  We asked for an extra plate and she gave us a zombie-stare, walked away, then looked out the window for about 5 minutes.  Seriously!  We finally asked a different server for the plate.  We had to keep this up the entire time (ask different servers rather than Dorothy).

We would go there again (and make sure she wasn't our server).

A generous 3 stars. On the positive end, the wings with buffaque sauce are good and the smoked turkey (which many BBQ places don't offer) is very good. OK, and the bag-o-donut holes is pretty decent. The problem is the traditional BBQ items are nasty. I had the toughest, fattiest, coldest brisket ever there. I am an admitted BBQ snob so I'm probably being harsh. Let's face it, it's a convenience kind of place. I've only had lunch there but I will give them thumbs up on beer bucket prices. The service has ranged in several visits from excellent to (most recently) abysmal. I would sum it up by saying a good place for apps and sandwiches after a movie at Randolph but avoid the actual barbecue specialties

The only reason Smokey Bones didn't get a one star is because nobody threw up.  The prices were too high for food and service that were terrible.  I felt awful for the wait staff, because they were poorly managed and understaffed.  Regardless, the service was minimal and I'm surprised that two days later we still aren't waiting for our check.  My husband's margarita was nothing short of gross.  There really wasn't anything special about the food.  Nothing.  Save your money and go to McDonald's for a better dining experience.

eff yeah i like bbq!  smokeys is about the best there is as far as chains go.  they opened up here a couple of years ago and, at that time, were one of the only places i could find that served a dry rub (memphis style).  the flavor is indeed smokey with a little kick at the end.  the st. louis style is a sticky sweet molasses based sauce that is just right.  if you go with the st. lou, bring the wet-naps, baby.

the combo platters offer the best option for tasting a bunch of different things at a good price.

i've had everything here from their ribs (both types), pulled pork, burgers, and even (gasp!) the chicken.  i've never had anything bad.

the service is good.  i definitely like the transmitter at the table hooked up to the t.v.s so you can listen to whichever station you want (good for afternoon sports).  the beer selection is about average, but the prices are definitely right.  the mixed drinks are what you would expect, but they, too, are done well.

the place is big enough that you usually do not have to wait to be seated.  if the wait is too long and you're not dying for bbq, the olive garden (owned by the same company) is right across the parking lot.

Stopped in for the first time for a late lunch. Our server was great and we had TONS of questions. I am not a fan of chains and I am so picky about BBQ that I ask probably too many questions. Anyway, soup of the day was average Broc and Cheese. We got the smoked wings buffalo style and they were nice and crispy. My son had Baby Back Ribs Jerk style, baked and beans and he ate every bite just about. I had the pulled pork sandwich with mashed. The pork was a bit dry and the mashed were pretty flavorless. I did not care of either of the BBQ sauces offered separately, but mixed together they weren't too bad and my sandwich needed something.

I tried Smokey Bones for my first time yesterday and I must say that I'm very impressed.  The service was fast and friendly.  Food was real good (I had the favorites combo -- with Smoked Beef Brisket and Grilled Chicken, with some sides)!  The cornbread was real good too.  I didn't drink, but they had amazing deals for draft beer by the pint ($2); pitcher ($6); frozen margaritas ($3); and bucket of beer ($10)!  The price was fair for the food and service I got.  The cleanliness of the restaurant was great.  I'm definitely coming back here.  Much better than Fireflys!

Would I go here if there were no other options, and if Firefly's in Quincy had shut down, and if not only Firefly's had shut down but also both Blue Ribbon locations and Redbones? Maybe? I guess I would choke something down. If you like their barbecue, I ask you to imagine what it would be like to eat something even better. I then direct you to go to one of the other places I mentioned. Redbones has the best ribs, Blue Ribbon has the best pulled pork in my own subjective opinion. It's higher-quality meat made with more authentic tastes. Apart from the food, I'm not keen on the atmosphere that encourages you to watch TV instead of chatting with your dining partners. The one thing that I really like about Smokey Bones is the bag of yum, fresh cinnamon donuts that you can get for dessert. I'd come back for those if it was very, very convenient. Else, I suppose it's a good place to go to if you have a bunch of really picky dining companions to accommodate, like kids. Still, as someone who's spent time in Texas, I suggest keeping north on 24 to 93 N, right on over to Somerville to get Redbones instead for a very different pan-Southern barbecue dining experience than what you'll find here.

i just moved here from california and my hubby's and i LOVES, LOVES toni romas for their ribs. my husband is crazy for ribs and we've been to several places here and he wasn't too wowed by any of them until we tried smokey bones. we both love their baby back ribs. my hubby begs for us to eat there every weekend if we can afford it! i mean it's not that expensive...average price for ribs...14-15 dollars for half a rack plus a choice of 2 sides. i also love their old-fashioned skillet cornbread. can't get enough of that stuff. weekends can  be busy...longest wait we've experienced was about 20 mins. the servers are all pretty friendly...wait time for food is usually fast. we only had to really wait one time. they have t.v.'s stationed everywhere and you have a box so u can pick which t.v. you want to hear from. which is a plus for me since i have 3 kids and need to keep them busy.
