As an age-group triathlete, I was impressed with Dr. Smith's history of treating athletes, and really appreciated that he's a runner himself. He founded the Pasadena Pacers running club 15 years ago.

My treatment for sciatica and lower-back pain left me feeling much better. In one case, he treated me right after a painful 60-mile bike ride and (rather than feeling battered and sore the next day) I felt good enough to attack a brick workout the next morning.

    Highly recommended.

Dr. Smith is truly caring chiropractor who listens and offers solutions that are not just prescribing drugs, but rather based on practical medical treatments. I was introduced to Dr. Smith when he came out to a Team In Training Triathlon injury prevention clinic. He volunteered his time and gave participants free consultations and exercises to do to strengthen ourselves so we could avoid problems and stay focused on our training. I was welcomed to come to his office for a more extensive exam for free, just due to the fact that Dr. Smith encourages running, training and believes in offering injury prevention.
I have never felt so genuinely cared and concerned for by any other doctor, including his staff. Now it is up to me to stay on top of my strength training exercises that they so clearly demonstrated and went over with me.
I am so grateful! Go see Dr. Smith- no mater if you have to drive ac cross town, he is worth it!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!  A week ago i couldn't move my neck side to side after injuring myself lifting something heavy.  I got an appointment the same day and was truly impressed how wonderful and caring the entire team at the office was and the calming energy displayed by everyone.  I never have to wait when i go in for my appt, the office and staff are extremely efficient.  The doctor always takes his time with you and gives practical solutions/suggestions and treatments to prevent further injury.   Highly recommended

Dr. Smith and staff are an absolutely wonderful and caring team.  They have helped me through some of the most difficult moments I have gone through with my cervical pain.  Dr. Smith is honest, knowledgeable and has a wonderful sense of humor and positive spirit.  His wife and staff are professional and truly care about their patients.  I will never forget everything they have done for me.

SERIOUSLY, NO JOKE, this man is a God-send. I am finally learning that it's very good to take care of my self and that includes my body. So when I was referred to Dr. Smith via a friend, I knew I was being sent to a trusted doctor. He specializes in RUNNERS! HELLO!!! I LOVE Runny! and if there's anything I need, it will be a specialist who knows all about running and the issues that come with it.

Not only did Dr. Smith assess and know my issues within LITERALLY 2 minutes, but he also gave me guidance on how to remedy the problem STAT. They were remedies that would bring me back to the office so HE could get more money. They were genuine remedies for me to get better.

He even went out of his way to help me obtain my long, heart felt goal of running a marathon. I didn't know how to train, and him being a runner himself, decided to give me the training via various means -- FREE. out of the goodness of his heart, he just wanted to share this information with me.

My only problem with Dr. Smith is that he wasn't giving me long term treatment as in home-remedies i could do at home to prevent further injury with my ankle (I over pronate which he was fixing). It seemed to me that the only cure to my over pronation was to continue to see him. Good for HIS business, not so good for my pocket. I wish he would've given me more information about what I could do to help myself, for long term care.

Still, I think he's great, especially seeing that he specializes in runners.

It's Dr Smith with the golden touch and Robin, Dr. Cressey and the crew who completely round out the experience.  This Chiropractic office is like visiting your best and most favorite Aunt and Uncles house for the holidays...just good people who are friggin great at their job(Making you feel better).

My wife was the one who initially introduced me to Dr. Smith.  She has been a patient of his for over 15 years.  I have been a patient for over 6 years.  When we married it was her trust and recommendations that convinced me to see Dr. Smith.  Being a tax accountant there are times with my neck literally won't straighten.  Dr. Smiths office is such a big help to me.

When its bad and I am in big pain, Robin gives me their personal cell # for emergencies over the weekend... come on!!!  Who does that anymore....?

I had to take, what I consider to be, a "mandatory hiatus" from Dr. Smith because of my crummy insurance...who although I appreciate for stretching themselves and considering alternative medicine as perhaps, treatment they should cover-- I also disparage for not taking a bigger leap of faith (thus, limiting coverage of said treatment).

So, being the ever vigilant one, I deemed at some point that I only had TWO more visits that my insurance would cover until next year! BOO!!
I decided to use those last two strategically.

I had tried out a new massage place (I'm still trying to figure out how to articulate that review!). It was CHEAP. It also illustrated the classic: "you get what you pay for " cliche if you catch my drift.
From that evening and consistently into the next day, I had the most irritating muscle spasms in my back! The spasms actually kept me up all night! I was miserable.

Feeble and sleep deprived, I call Dr. Smith's office. His lovely wife, Robin says, to my surprise, "can you come in right now?"
    YES! Thank you baby Jesus!

Dr. Smith listened to my cheap massage woes and proceeded to tell me a couple of his famously engaging stories while adjusting me. Before I left, he gave me another number where I could reach him (since the weekend was about to begin) and just in case I experienced anything worse during non-business hours.
Just from that ONE visit, the spasms slowed from a Mach 10 to about a 2. And from there, they dissipated completely within 24 hours.
    Have back trouble?
Do not pass Go, do not collect $200; go to Smith Chiropractic asap.

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Smith.  He is one of the most personable, intelligible, kind, and funny doctors I've ever met.  He really takes the time to focus on your needs and to give you the most personable care.  I used to have a lot of hip, back, knee, and feet problems (yup, I was a mess) before consulting Dr. Smith.  He was so kind to talk to me free of charge and within 5 minutes, found out the why I was having so many problems.

His advice really helped because now I feel so much better.  I've used the exercises he recommended for my weak hips and noticed a huge difference within a couple of weeks.  All these years of pain and suffering resolved within TWO WEEKS?!  He is nothing short of a miracle worker.  Thank you so much Dr. Smith for your kindness and advice.

Okay, so I love Yelp because it offers up the perfect forum for appreciating folks who surpass expectations big-time. And Dr. Steve Smith could be the Yelp poster boy for Chiropractic.

I've practiced dentistry for over 30 years and exercised since just after birth so my back has been described as, on a good day, resembling a slab of stringy beef jerky.

Doc Steve, assisted by his more than capable, friendly team, welcomed me into his beautiful office on 24-hours notice. Never had more thorough, gentle, and informed effective care. And I feel GREAT!

But beware, Dr. Steve's consummate professionalism is balanced with a disarming friendliness and an Ice House quality sense of humor.

Don't worry. Be happy. See Dr. Steve.

January 2008 a 200 lb. kid fell on my head/neck/shoulder while I was in  most pit. Since then I went to a physical therapist who didn't do a thing, a couple acupuncturists who lessened the pain for a while but didn't resolve it, and taken handfuls of various pain killers. I was telling all of this to Keven C. one evening. By asking me if a couple random places on my body hurt -- they all did -- he informed me exactly how/where my body was jacked up. I had the feeling chiropractic adjustments were on my horizon, but his obvious knowledge was the catalyst I needed to start. The next day I PMed him about the doctor he was telling me about and he gave me Dr. Smith's number.

My first contact with the office was obvious telephonic. I spoke to Robin who was extremely informative and enthusiastic. I hung up being EXCITED that a new journey was about to start.

Less than a week after calling, I was sitting in Dr. Smith's waiting room. It is really a gorgeous office. Much nicer than my doctor's office. Very modern, nice wood accents, comfy chairs, and giant whale vertebrae on high shelves. All of the medical history and release paperwork is on his website, and if I had a printer, I would have been really prepared when I got there. Unfortunately, my printer had just broke and I had to fill out everything when I got there. Robin was, and has always been, very accommodating and didn't rush me.

Once the paperwork was all filled out, I was shown into one of the three exam rooms. I didn't wait long before Dr. Smith came in. He really is a nice person and very knowledgeable. He took a more detailed medical history, examined my injury and took my x-rays. I say it jokingly, but it's kind of true, that if the US really wanted to invest in torture they should get some chiropractors. The actual adjustments feel really good and give instant relief, but Dr. Smith has an uncanny ability to find all the sore spots on my back and neck. It's like the people who can find water. It was kind of what sold me on the entire thing actually -- if he knows that when I point to my lower back my mid-back has a sweet spot that is causing it then he knows how to make the pain go away. And he does.

I've been going to Dr. Smith for about a month now. I've overheard new patients go in there and be told to come back in a month for another adjustment. My scared shoulder was a much more intense problem and so I have been going much more frequently. It really is working. I batter my body with roller derby and after an EPIC crash yesterday I woke up sore but with a noticeable lack of pain. I haven't been pain free since I was 16 (back problems). It's amazing.

In addition to the great adjustments, they also have a therapy room with ultrasound, pulsing electrode things and the most amazing heated water bed with little jets. I would go just for the water bed. I have also been given exercises and stretches to do at home -- something the awful physical therapist I went to when I was first injured never did.

Now that Kevin is in the practice too, I'm mad at Yelp that six stars isn't an option. They are both great chiropractors. Everyone else in the office is warm, professional and overall good people. My mom is going to call them soon. Yelp is one thing, but when I make my mother do something you know it's the bees knees and the best of the best.

This may be a long review, so let me cut to the chase:

    YES.  GO THERE.  NOW.

I'm a 37-year-old work-from-home toddler-mothering totally sedentary woman.  So, NATURALLY, I decided to run the L.A. Marathon.  I know...what was I thinking, right?  I was asking myself that same question when, after six months of training, I ended up a worn-out husk of a human, in constant severe knee and hip pain, wondering if I'd be able to make it to the starting line, let alone the finish line.

Let me back up for a moment.  The pain actually started months ago, and I visited a well-known sports medicine doctor in Beverly Hills, hoping he'd suggest some stride adjustments or exercises or SOMETHING, anything that would lessen the pain.  Since his specialty was sports medicine, I figured he'd be the kind of person who would love athletes (yes, even runners) and would stand firmly in my corner, ready to help me tackle this challenge. Imagine my surprise when the doctor sat me down and told me, even before examining me, that I should give up running.

Ok...back to the present day.  The pain has gotten worse and worse, and my goal of completing this marathon is feeling further and further away.  Enter Dr. Smith.  I found him right here on Yelp...thank you, Yelpers!  With only four weeks to go, and barely able to run at all, or even walk comfortably, I didn't have high hopes, but I figured I had nothing to lose.  Best decision of my entire training period, period.

First of all, Dr. Smith not only loves runners, he IS a runner.  In fact, he's the founder of the Pasadena Pacers running club.  Second, he's magic.  I don't know how he does it, but he's able to pinpoint the source of the pain and make it better.  During my first visit, he and the awesome Kevin. C (by the way, his review is way too humble...the dude is a natural-born healer, no lie) showed me some exercises, including how to use a foam roller to alleviate my IT band pain.  After one week, my knee pain was 90% better.  For the past two weeks, I've been going to see him (and the lovely and talented Wasana, Queen of Therapy) three times a week.  My hip pain was extremely stubborn and held on longer than my junkie ex-boyfriend, but two days ago I woke up PAIN-FREE for the first time in months.  Yes...that ZERO pain.  And with two weeks still to go until the marathon!

Seriously, I really wish I'd discovered Dr. Smith much earlier in my training.  Whether you're a runner training for your first marathon and you're starting to feel that nagging pain somewhere, or you're a seasoned runner who thinks pain just comes with the territory, heed my words.  Dr. Smith will help you!

    Got a Hoover Round?

Want to let your spine get so bad that you'll eventually need one?

If your answer is no, then you really should pick up that phone cuz Robin and Valerie always answer within 2 rings with a friendly disposition, ready to schedule that life changing experience. Not appointment; experience.

I've been putting off this review for quite some time now; partially because Dr. Smith has breathed a new life into my nerve-pinched-mind numbing pain traveling down my left leg like a heart attack-spastic sciatica-additional stress caused by a new tyrant of a boss, body.  The other part?  He's a national treasure that only has two hands, I wanted to keep him to myself!  He is Pasadena's best kept secret, I'm tellin' ya.  But alas, now I can actually feel human emotions, not just "hurts so much it gets in the way of my life" excruciating pain and discomfort, I have to pass on this contact from my Little Black Book.

First recommended by the bf's mother, who has access to the best of the best of everything this area has to offer.  And I am ecstatic to announce that there was a reason why she has been seeing the Smiths for over 20 years.  She has referred countless people, brought her own children, who are all grown adults and still see him on a regular basis.  They go for every ailment, maintenance, car accident, or as needed adjustment.

My mother, on the other hand has the creepiest psuedo-pretty sure he got his degree on Yahoo Chat chiropractor I've ever seen.  And he asks about me all the time.  Perfect, so is it just too much to ask that a girl just wants a good adjustment without having to worry about some Creeper McCreeperson coping a feel?   I didn't think so.

    My First Visit:
Their user friendly website allows you to download those pesky "first time patient" papers that other offices wait until you've arrive just on time for your first appointment ever, in pain, to fill out; because they never tell you to come early to fill out paperwork.  There's always paperwork.  Not to mention being able to type these often contains important information documents is a God send for leftys like me, where my writing is barely sufficient for college ruled paper.

I think it is the ultimate testament when you are able to see/feel the quality of life in that office.  Dr. Smith himself is a very kind soul, possesses hands of Jesus, has sympathy for underlying life circumstances, all with a great sense of humor  Robin is no nonsense and a straight shooter; a priceless asset on the business end of things.  The entire staff, which I'm pretty sure consists of 5 people, get along very well, and are all extremely friendly and helpful.

The first visit is always the longest, Dr. Smith makes a larger window of time to basically interview you, and get your perspective on things.  The pain in my lower back was becoming so severe, nerves would be pinched and the pain would travel down my left leg.  Working out would result in half a day of temporary paralysis, and wouldn't you know it, but my favorite position while watching television is laying down on my sofa aka all my bodily pressure hankering down on my tailbone.  Dr. Smith had me lay on my stomach in a contraption that can only be described as a godly table forged solely for the purpose of healing.  It rotates your lower half back and forth while Dr. Smith feels your spine and is able to pin point where the center of the pain is.  He then had me lay on my side, which at first, was awkward because the chair has loosened up my spine, and I thought he was going to adjust me from above with me facing down, but no.  What he did was SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!  He elongated my body from each side and not only cracked me from side to side, but then had me lay back onto a sort of raised box, and pressed down.  Instant euphoric gratification.  Sound effects included.

Needless to say, 4 weeks of once a week adjustments have given me back that bounce in my step and full use of my back again.  I am going about once a month now for maintenance adjustments, and just because it feels SO damn good to get that rusty vertebra popped back in place.

The idea of going to a chiropractor was a little scary to me, but I didn't want to continue taking anti-inflammatory medication & also wanted to be able to start running again. My foot and knee had been bothering me so much that I hadn't run for one year. When two runners at my office mentioned the same Dr. Smith to me, I decided I had to give him a try. I'm so glad I did!

He's got a really generous heart, listens patiently instead of rushing you, zeroes in on what's causing your pain, and gives you an idea of when you can expect to feel better again. He treated me and told me what exercises I needed to do on my own if I wanted to be ready to run again in a few months. I'm up to 5 miles and looking to increase my mileage. I highly recommend him. The office staff is professional & super friendly.

Dr. Smith is fun-loving and knowledgeable chiropractor.  I came into his clinic, having seen other chiropractors about a lower back and hip issue.  I've even come for advice on some leg muscle issues.  This is territory that a lot of chiropractors don't touch on (dealing mostly with upper body issues).  Dr. Smith was very helpful in offering a thorough examination, effective care during my visits, and instruction on preventative stretches and exercises.  I couldn't ask for more.

Dr. Smith is an amazing person and likewise, an awesome and caring doctor.  I already had high regards for Dr. Smith when I went to my first consultation and he only confirmed how great he is.  I had never had a doctor who took such care in exploring all the options for my knee problems as he did.  He figured out what was wrong with them and  recommended some exercises which have worked wonders.  I recommend Dr. Smith only to people who want to be cured.  :)  DR. SMITH IS THE BEST!!

Dr. Steve Smith and his whole staff are some of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met.  They are devoted to helping you get better and stay better, not just to treating your symptomps.  It was because of Dr. Smith's prodding that I started exercising regularly.  His ongoing encouragement keeps me doing so.  I consider Dr. Smith to be part of my personal support system, helping me maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
