Little Miss Syrabi has been completely lost without puppy socials.
Fawn and Tammy are amazing trainers. They both are so patient and really care about the well being of your dog. They care about how your puppy will behave when it becomes a dog. How society will look at them. Its a lot of hard work and time spent. They always knew when I was about to lose it with Rabi. Having a puppy is constant work and they grow so fast. Tammy and Fawn help you, they show you what behavior to avoid and what is just being a puppy. They truly know dogs. Even though Syrabi and I had a few situations that kept us away from that last few socials and puppy classes but nonetheless she had a blast and I learned a lot. Thanks, you guys are awesome!
Fawn is an awesome dog trainer who is also friends with Sandi, another excellent dog trainer in Berkeley/Oakland. I've only been to Fawn's puppy socials and she is very knowledgable when it comes to puppy playing/squabbles. She's very observant and will step in when needed.
Fawn is the best-- and i have a well trained puppy to prove it!
Fawn uses a very gentle, humane, and practical techniques to train your puppy to do basic commands, tricks, and leash walking. SmartyPup is the anti-CesarMilan (that jerk!). Fawn is so knowledgeable, insightful, patient and non-judgemental. I can't think of anything else you would want in a puppy trainer!! Penelope (my english mastiff puppy) is so well behaved and obedient now.
I recommend taking your puppy to the puppy socials first to warm up their social skills before jumping into classes. The puppy socials are SO GREAT! (and discounted if you are enrolled in her classes).
Fawn is awesome, and her classes are the best way to get your dog off on the right foot.
Both of our dogs went through her classes and we can't recommend them highly enough! The dogs learn a lot, of course, and have an excellent opportunity to be socialized with other dogs their own age.
But the best part of the classes was learning about how dogs think and interact with other members of their pack -- training ourselves to avoid the typical puppy-training pitfalls.
My puppy had a blast at the puppy social at Bella & Daisy's. He even slept most of the drive home! It is so important to allow puppies to socialize with other dogs in a safe place and this social hour was great. Fawn clearly loves and respects dogs and trains in a positive yet stern way. No lame dog-whispering here!
The space was clean (smelling like bleach, which is a good thing with all the potential illnesses puppies can get). We also got to do some training: "roll over" but my dog was more interested in playing. Oh, and puppies can sometimes play rough...I never felt it got out of hand, but it can be a little scary at first (but these are dogs, that's what they do!).
We are now into our second Puppy Class with Fawn and I have nothing but high praise for her. Wise intuition, kindness with dogs AND people, plus a fun personality all help support dog and human learning.
Fawn really is AS GOOD AS IT GETS when it comes to training puppies and their people. She is a skilled teacher, dog trainer and an amazing resource for the dog world as well. Dog people are not usually as charming as Fawn...rarely do you meet someone who not only has amazing dog training skills but stellar charisma and people skills as well!
As a dog trainer myself, I got my start by auditing Fawn's classes and then assisting her classes and observing her private training sessions. I recommend her puppy classes and private training unequivocally.
As an added bonus, she WILL teach you how to look cool in the dog park too with her masterful and dog-friendly techniques for teaching your dog recall, sit, down, stay, slick play skills and MORE!
I can always recognize a dog (and their people) who have been through Fawn's puppy classes!! These lucky folks have a huge advantage as they have been set on an awesome path of understanding how to work with their dogs by understanding "the dog's mind" - a sophisticated approach that is not only cutting edge but fun for the dogs and the people - deepening bonds and producing charming dogs!
I am always thrilled when Fawn's puppy class graduates contact us at dogevolve for adult dog classes and playgroups! What a treat!
So far, I've been to two puppy socials and my dog had a great time. Its also a very welcoming and friendly environment. Fawn is by far one of the best I've met. She's highly knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to give you individualized personal attention (also, from a business perspective, she's extremely professional; answering questions and emails right away). I'm a new dog owner and was concerned that my pup would be a little too wild. Fawn was very reassuring and even complimented my dog on her behavior. If you have a young puppy that's not had all of his vaccinations and can't go to dog parks, this is the best option for early socializing.
Smartypup is a great way to socialize and train your pup. Fawn has a real understanding of how to communicate with your dog, the tools she teaches you can be used over and over in all situations.
We brought out puppy to the Smartypup socials just after we got him, the idea of a puppy social is fantastic. It is important for a puppy to get out and socialize with other dogs and meet new people. However, it is often hard to find a place to take your puppy where they will be safe. A Smartypup Puppy Social is the answer.
The social is in an enclosed area where the puppies are free and safe to play, monitored by two well versed trainers.
These socials are great, the puppy gets the chance to play, and come home tired out and we get an opportunity to speak with other owners who are going through the same things we are, and the bonus is having a trainer present to help us trouble shoot any problems we might be running into.
I am so glad I took my pup to Puppy 2 with Fawn! I thought my pup's recall was excellent, then Fawn had me try calling her while Fawn was giving her treats, I don't even think my pup heard me and if she did she could care less. Reliable recall is soooo important, especially in the city, and this class really helped with making sure my pup comes when I call everytime her no matter what and keeping her safe! Puppy 2 really helped with training for real-life situations. For example, Fawn taught us how to train our dogs not to go into the street. One day my pup was chasing a bird at the park in the direction of the street, I called her, she stopped dead in her tracks, immediately turned around, and came running to me. If that's not effective training, what is??? My pup recently started agility training and Fawn's class has proven to be a wonderful foundation!

Fawn is a LIFESAVER! We previously took one class at Dog Gone Good - I was not thrilled with the teacher's approach to dog training - but then we were recommended Fawn by our dog walker and OH! What a difference. Not only is our puppy learning all the essentials, but we are having fun too! Great class, great puppy socials - and Fawn is just such a wonderful teacher and human being! We've already signed up for Puppy Two! Recommend her classes without reservation!
This has been the most amazing thing ever for our 11 week old puggle, Stinson. Fawn and Tammy are really amazing with their approach to the puppy socials and the training. Our puppy immediately felt comfortable in their play space and loves to listen to the both of them. Also these socials and classes have also seemed to help me be less socially dysfunctional. We were fortunate that these puppy socials started at about the same time our shih tzu/bichon arrived in our home in March of 2007. We loved taking ZiggyJ to romp and play with the other pups. He was a timid pup then but today he is a friendly and happy almost-year-old who loves to meet other dogs and their people!
