I have never had my haircut here, but Elke's brow shaping is great! My brows have never looked better.

The salon is small and friendly and without a trace of the superfluous coolness that is so common in many hair salons in Manhattan.
Karla (the owner) is skilled beyond belief: her dry-hair cutting technique and unwavering attention to detail result in great haircuts that not only look effortlessly marvelous without any need for styling, but also grow out beautifully.
Milla's dry-cutting technique is no less impressive and she was very attentive to my pathetic attempts to articulate what was it that I wanted.
Marlyss salvaged the disastrous orange highlights job I got elsewhere and her incredible coloring technique is beyond doubt is her strongest suit. However, the haircut itself was a bit disappointing and didn't work well with my finicky hair.
Elke's brow-shaping was similarly amazing - more than worth $40 paid.

Elke was lovely and highly professional, and she spent a great deal of time cultivating my eyebrows. I would have given her five stars, except I expressed the fact that i wanted my brows to remain thick and I felt that she got a little tweezer-happy and took too much off. Regardless, it was a quality job and I felt a bit more attractive when I left than when I came in. I'm thinking of letting Vivi coif and re-purpose my tangled, frazzled web of hay that some would call hair; the styling ethos she espoused when I spoke with her seemed noble. I am editing this to add that my hair has since been hedged very effectively by Vivi. She was amazing! She gave me a lot of time and really explored my modus operandi before deciding how to proceed. Not only did she do a great job on my difficult hair, but she also gave me a quick cosmetic enhancement. Some guy with an eye patch stopped me in the street to give me a bunch of peonies later that evening so I think i must have looked pretty smashing, comparatively.

I came here for the first time about a year ago, in a fit of desperation over a disasterous dye job I'd received elsewhere. The colorist (who has since left) salvaged my hair and I haven't looked back ever since. These days Brendon does my highlights and he never ceases to impress. The salon is small but cozy. The staff are friendly and hip but not at all pretentious and offer you cappucino when you walk in. Overall, a gem of a salon.

I got a great cut here - so good I am going back for a trim! Marlyss gave me a lovely, classic bob. No Katie Holmes weirdness or the severity of Posh Spice's 'do, but a great bob. Everyone was friendly, and no one made me feel like I was not cool enough to be there.

Great Service, Great Staff. I've been getting my hair cut here for over a year now, and thought what a better time than to review the salon! My stylist is Brendon, Never has my hair and color been this great in my experience, everytime I get a cut here I'm always getting compliments. I highly reccomend except when I have an appointment that is ;o)
The owner (Karla) did my hair like it has never been done before, it was so perfect. First time there, Karla took her time analyze my hair and the shape of face. When I got home all anyone could do was stare. It was so different from my other cuts. Karla only books about 4 appts a day so book way in advance or be flexible. She's worth it.
Confession: I've been to SuperCuts many, many times. Mitigating Circumstance: When I went, I had long, mid-back hair that just needed an inch off.
Since then, I have been to all sorts of places in Brooklyn and Manhattan. This is the first place (eight years post-SuperCuts!) that I felt good when I left and that I actually meant it when I said I'd be back.
Texas cut my wicked thick and kinda wavy, kinda weird hair. She was talkative and friendly, and she just kept snipping away until I had a head full of fun, happy-to-be-alive curls. I liked that she listened to what I told her (my hair hates to be blown dry) and she paid attention to my life (a five-month old and high maintenance hair don't mix).
I liked the salon, and everyone there seems to really like each other. It was hip, but still managed to be laid-back. I'm so happy to have found a place to which I will return!
See you in a couple months, Texas!

I've have my eyebrows done here by Elke and am so impressed! Pricier than a regular eyebrow wax but definitely worth it. Elke is a professional makeup artist and specializes in eyebrows--- does a lot of print work and jobs with celebrities. She does a great job in shaping my eyebrows and is very nice, listens to what you want. Her eyebrow shaping is done almost entirely with tweezers rather than wax.
I've also had Elke's makeup bag makeover. I brought in all of my makeup and she looked at each product and told me which items were good for me and which I shouldn't use. She applied makeup using my own items--- first she'd apply it and then she'd teach me and have me try it myself.
I came away from the appointment having learned a lot, particularly about the difference makeup brushes can make and about how to choose the right colors for my skin. Elke isn't a makeup snob, which was so nice-- her opinions on my makeup were unrelated to whether the makeup was from a drugstore or a makeup counter. I'd highly recommend her makeup service-- it would even make a great gift.

I pass this place on my way home every single day and when it was time to find a new salon for my cut and color, I decided to give this one a whirl, if only because I have a weakness for bad puns.
A day before my appointment, Brendan, the stylist I was scheduled to meet with, called to introduce himself and talk to me a bit about what I wanted done. How thoughtful!
When I arrived for the appointment, I was greeted by the yummiest-smelling salon I have ever been to. The space is small but clean and chic, and I loved the music on the stereo (some kind of chillout compilation). Decor-wise, my only complaint is that the mirrors are too high/chairs are too low, so I could only see the top of my head when I was seated.
As for the cut and color, Brendan gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I was concerned that my hair had gotten a bit drier/thinner in the last couple of months, but he included some kind of treatment (which he didn't charge for) that really helped revitalize it. My hair has been in great condition ever since, and the color and cut still look great weeks later.
Slopes Suds will be my regular hair place from now on. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, service is personable (Brendan even got me a Coke Zero when he stepped out for a minute!), and the prices aren't cheap, but reasonable considering the quality results.
I just hope they never change their name!
Trimmed bangs for 10 bucks in 10 minutes around the corner from my house. Not bad!

Great salon! Affordable, high quality haircuts! After having a really traumatic experience a few months ago (see Astor Place Hair), I was hesitant to go somewhere new, but everyone at Slope Suds calmed my fears! Jayna is the best!

Karla, the owner of this swanke salon in Park Slope, knew exactly how to cut and update my somewhat challenging hair( straight in some parts, wavy on others, frizzy on humid days, straight as can be on dry days) so it looks great under all conditions! When I have the time to style it looks wonderful, when I dont, it still looks stylish. The salon itself is beautiful and sophisticated and a relaxing treat. I am in love with the vanilla sugar scrub from her own line of beauty products. Everything is yummy!

I went to this salon shortly after it opened. It features a unique combination of salon services and the sale of an original line of soap products. They also sell some hair products as well as a few cosmetics.
I had my hair cut and colored by Leslie, one of the senior stylists. She did a beautiful job of layering my hair -- my boyfriend said it was the best haircut he'd seen on me. They also offer excellent services for eyebrow shaping.

Slope Suds opened in spring of 2006 in a narrow storefront on Park Slope's 7th Avenue between 14th and 15th street. A former barber shop, the interior has been radically transformed for the better with a clean, stream-lined look. Light blue walls, soft edges and round mirrors have brightened the room and all-natural products line the walls, including the owner's own line of soap products. I recently had my hair cut here by Karla, the owner, and I was really happy with the results. She took her time and made sure that everything was exactly the way that I wanted and of course offered me the chance to come and have it fixed if anything looked amiss after I washed it myself. I was really happy with her attention to detail and with the soothing nature of the shop in general. She has two other stylists who work with her and I assume that there will be more as time goes by as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for somewhere in the Slope to get your hair cut.
