Was at the Dancin' in the Streets fest today and always wanted to try Sliders so we stopped in for dinner.

Mayhap I shoulda got the oysters since that is what they are known for, but I wasn't in the mood.

It's a cool little place, very casual.  We sat down with another couple (strangers) at a picnic table outside, under the awning.  The waitress was friendly and promptly brought us a drinks and took my order for a Bud Light.

I ordered the Mixed Grill, which had a sampling of Mahi Mahi, shrimp and half a small lobster tail.  All three had a light blackened seasoning.  Not too salty and pretty tasty.  The shrimp were by far the best.  Crisp, cleaned, and fresh, they took the spices up well.  The lobster was a little tough and chewy and the flavor was only ok.  I had to dunk it in butter to make it better.  The Mahi Mahi was good too, although perhaps a minute overdone.

Glabella had scallops.  Not her usual, but these were an great choice.  They were lightly grilled with some browning caramelization.  They were covered in a orangish creamy sauce.

I wish the menu had a bit more variety, but overall I'm a fan.  I'd go back and I'd bring others too.  There are alot of similar casual seafood joints in Jax.  This one wins because of the location and the food.

I couldn't wait to visit this venerable Beach Eatery. Sadly the service is unforgivably poor.

It was moderately busy and I sat down to begin the meal. The server came over to drop off some water and said she would be right back. 15 minutes later she finally came back and I gave her my appetizer and dinner order. Another 20 minutes went by and I got the lukewarm appetizer. Fifteen minutes after that I had to stop the server to ask her about my meal - Oh - I'm sure it is coming. She didn't stop once or even glance at me as she went by for another 15 minutes. After FORTY minutes I went to the bar and told the manager there I just wanted to pay my bill - for my appetizer and leave. I told how disappointed I was with the service and how poor my dining experience had been. About 10 minutes later they had my check and I paid it. Just then they brought out my entree... I had to chuckle - I really wasn't interested in it - even thought they weren't going to charge me.

Very good seafood - we had the oysters (of course) and the curried seafood, which was a diving concoction of mango salsa, shrimp and scallops over curried rice.  Scrumptious!

I would have given this place one more star if not for the fact that this restaurant has no ambience whatsoever and the customer service leaves much to be desired.   Our waitress spilled wine on our table and instead of mopping it up herself, handed me a towel and said "here you go, hon"  !!!  This would have been unforgivable if it weren't for that divine mango salsa.

I'll agree with some reviews about service at Sliders. It's a beach staple and one that lives up to the hype. If your looking for a beachside place to get great raw oysters and cold beer then look no further.
Sliders at JAX beach, little sister to the original in Amelia Island, is one of the few places that I'll go to get raw oysters. Like any place that serves raw seafood, you have to be careful. I've been sick so many times from eating raw seafood that you think I would have learned my lesson; sadly this is not the case. Sliders is one place however that I never have fear of getting sick. This may have more to do with my incredibly strong immune system I have after living 3 years in a frat house then the cleaning habits of sliders. The fact remains, one of the few places that I feel good getting raw oysters.
The rest of sliders food is forgettable, but if you can hit their happy hour, then you can feast on oysters on the half shell, for half price of the normal fare. Make sure to eat outside in a tee-shirt and flops. Also expect to get oyster juice on yourself, its glorious.
Sliders gets 3 stars for having the only oysters that are safe every time, or every time I've eaten there. Sit out on a bench and have a cold XX and a plate of those raw nastys. Service leaves something to be desired, but if your going to sliders expecting the Ritz-Carlton then you're fooling only yourself.

This place is very chill and casual. Picnic Tables abound. The oysters are yummy and the fish tacos are tasty. It's a fun place with a group of friends however be prepared to wait on the weekends! They have good happy hour specials on appetizers. Also no surprise but it is very hard to find any parking--try the bank parking lots if it is after hours!

This is on my regular slate of must-stops when visiting family in Jax Beaches.  It's a good place to get oysters, a pitcher, and some other tasty appetizers, like the fish dip.

My sister had her wedding rehearsal dinner there. I have been there a few times. I think they have great food.

One of my favorite places to eat in Jacksonville.  After living here for four years and going there quite a bit, I think as it goes with the food, I've only had one bad experience and it was just because it was kind of bland that night.  For the price and how good the food is, I think it's a great value.  Service has always been pretty good here.  The only downfall is that they don't have full bar service, so you'll have to stick with beer or wine.  The other great thing is they switch up the menu pretty frequently and prepare fish in different ways and it's always good.
