I go in late at night with a group of ten to fifteen people and these guy do everything perfectly. They take orders expediently and produce them accurately in less than 10 minutes. The food is always good. I usually have the Bacon Cheeseburger and I have never been disappointed. The French Fries are always good, as are the Sweet Potato Fries.
After your burger comes, you can put anything you like on it. They have a full condiments counter with all the fixings. I don't drink soft drinks, so I always enjoy the complimentary cold water they have.
Check it out, you will be satisfied. -

Definitely one the drunk go-to spots because their food is deliciously fattening. It's cooked really well but definitely not my first choice. The food is just okay on a sober night and the spot is small so if it's busy you feel a bit claustrophobic.
I do like their do it yourself style burgers. I was not happy that my cheese wasn't melted on my plate :( The guys behind the counter aren't the friendliest either... -
Review from Bianca U.
This is the kinda place that's great for hitting up after going to a few bars. My friend and I both really enjoyed our meals--cheeseburger and chicken sandwich.
Though this place can't really be called a diner and the ambiance is pretty weak (think gross-ish burger joint in any movie about New York from the 70's to mid 80's) the food is good and the prices are even better.
The food was cooked perfectly--nothing too raw or too well done. Fries were crispy and exactly the right thickness! They serve everything plain, but there is a decently sized condiment bar to jazz up your hot dog, burger or poultry selections (chicken breast sandwich, turkey burger). Everything is grilled on one giant rotating grill, so take note vegetarians.
The condiment bar had everything from freshly sliced tomatoes to corn (?!) and sprouts. Lots of ketchup, mustard and mayo. Big thumbs up for serving the good crispy type of pickle spears and not the shitty Vlasic kind.
You can get a meal for under $9.
Have to say that this place doesn't feel very clean--the benches are taped up and everything feels slightly grimy. No ambiance aside from dirty walls and a large TV playing in the back. Not too many tables/chairs, so it might be wiser to take your food to go to eat at home. Seen many a loitering bad guy type milling about out front.
Friendly staff, no problems there. -
Review from Nick B.
Not bad at all... This place looks pretty shade... but dont be fooled, their burgers are actually pretty damn good and cooked to perfection according to your preference.
I love their avocado burger and fries for only around 7 bucks... Perfectly cooked medium rare and good size patty.
Their self service is also great where you can add your own veggies and making everything much simpler and quick! They also have mayo (best with fries), ketchup, and ranch set up for use...
Kudos to the owner who keep this place clean and fresh. Love to sit there and watch the news... only thing the last two times I went TV was ON BLAST! Might wanna consider turning it down a bit... -

I tried out Sliders for the first time on Sunday and it did not let me down. This place is a small diner where you order at the counter and then you seat yourself. I ordered the Tofu burger with crinkle cut fries ($6 something) which surprised me because it was really good. Not that I was expecting it to be bad... I just didn't know how it was going to be prepared / I was kind of winging it when I ordered this for lunch. Anyway, the tofu patty was really crispy which i loved. I got to go to the little toppings bar where I put all my great burger fixings on top. You can order soda pop or bottled beer. Refills on the fountain drinks are $0.50 from what I read on one of the signs. I'll go back again if I am in the area and I am craving a veggie burger. ;)

Sliders is a decent burger joint
I have had the burgers, turkey burgers , chicken strips, chili dogs and french fries. All were enjoyable and in the range of what I would expect
If you are looking for a high brow culinary experience, duh, dont go here
If you are looking for cheapish, decent food? Sliders works fine
Oh, and the attitude thing people are complaining about? Never seen it
Every time i go in there they say hi and bye
Of course, since its a burger joint and not a coffee shop, i pretty much just order my food and am not trying to play chit chat with the staff (Father/Son and cook) -

5 Stars when you're wasted, 1 star when you're sober.
Greasy burgers, greasy fries, you have to be drunk to appreciate the deliciousness that is Sliders. -

I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times. The wait isn't long and the burgers are dope and the fries are d, wait for it, lightful! ! If this place were a little bigger then it would be perfect. Other than that I don't have any other complaints. You can call in your order but, I haven't tried that yet.
Now I know you what you are thinking, "But Michael, your exquisite taste buds have only tasted this food twice." Yes I know, but I know a good place when I taste it and Sliders doesn't have to prove that to me anymore because I'm sold! -
Review from Abby S.
Note to self: eat here AFTER the bars, not BEFORE the bars.
I do love a good cheeseburger, but this particular patty sits pretty heavy in your tummy. Perfect food before you pass out. Not ideal if you want to actually go out and dance around.
Lesson learned! -

Ok its not really a 5 star place but let me tell you some tips about this place.
1. If you want a good deal, GET THE COMBOS! (They're on the back wall)
2. If you didn't know, they have different types of CHEESES!
( American, Swiss, Pepper Jack, Provolone, Blue Cheese, And Cheddar)
If you don't specify you will get american.
3. Make sure MARTIN (pronounced MAR-TEEN) is there to cook cause he's the best cook there. He's the Mexican guy.
4.Let them know how you want your burger cooked and ask for seasoning on both sides.(This only applies to BEEF)
5. THEY HAVE WHEAT BUNS AND WHEAT BREAD!
6.Well here are a few misc. information. They have Avocado and Bacon. It's really good on the turkey burger. Try the Hot dog or the Hot Link.(w/ Cheese if you like) Chicken strips and Chicken Wings are good with ranch and hot sauce. Chicken breast is also pretty good.

Was really hot and ugly inside, the ketchup exploded on me when I opened it, that seemed to me to mean it had been sitting in the heat too long- ew. Over priced, food you can make at home. They should sell the flat screen tv and use the money to clean the place up. Nothing Vegitarian except a "vegitarian sandwich" you know what that means.

Sliding towards two stars: Splash of oil on the grill before warming the bun. So not necessary.
Sliding towards four stars: Excellent grilled chicken sandwich. Only $5. Wheat buns. Large condiment bar lets you grab as much veggies and condiments as you'd like.
Reasons for four stars greatly outnumber the reason for two. -

I like it here, though it can get pretty expensive. The workers were nice, the costumers weren't. Big people eating in the Castro? Heaven forbid! A couple of people decided to make their disgust verbal, but this isnt about them.
I like Sliders! Very nomin' if you ask me! :) -

I had the Mushroom Burger and a Coke for $8.32.
I love a good burger and this is NOT it. It looked juicy but it was really low quality meet and really greasy at that.

Sliders is to be avoided at all costs. This weekend I found myself waiting in line for a movie at Castro Theater. This placed in the area Sliders uses to recieve it's food order. There were cases of meat directly on the wet pavement in front of the trashcans and grease barrel. A case of uncooked bacon was on top of a trsh can. A bag of frozen salmon burgers sat in a small puddle directly in front of the garbage can. Milk and hotdogs sat out unrefrigerated. The food was outside for about 30 minutes before someone attended to....sitting in filthy conditions. Sliders all too easily could poison somone with their total disregard for food safety. As a professional chef, I'm horrified by their lack of concern for basic cleanliness.

Review from Ed U.
Wow, I was absolutely gushing about this place two years ago, wasn't I? I have to admit I've taken this place for granted since that visit, especially since the prices went up a bit...$7.85 for a Cheeseburger Combo which means you also get a medium soda and a side of crinkle fries. Now lemme see...a burger at Epic Roasthouse with "all the trimmings and accoutrements" (their fancy verbiage, not mine) costs $25 by itself. You add $10 for steak fries and $3 for a Diet Coke, no free refills of course.
Granted the burger is bigger at Epic and probably from a cow with a royal pedigree and yes, the ambiance is nicer, but a difference of over thirty dollars is nothing to sneeze at. Speaking of which, the plastic sneeze guard is still there at Sliders "protecting" a broad array of trimmings and accoutrements that I can savor as a complete cheapskate. Where else can I put a mound of black olives, three raw onion slices, two tomato slices, a pile of alfalfa sprouts and a splooge of mayo on my bun? Not at Epic, my fellow paupers. Hey, I ain't no food snob.
FOOD - 4 stars...get a taste of life on the fancier side of the street and you come crawling back to Sliders...who says you can't go home again?
AMBIANCE - 3 stars...OK, it's still kind of a fast-food pit, but hey, the TV works most of the time
SERVICE - 3 stars...still a couple of desultory fellows ...a smile would be nice sometime ...turn that frown upside down! ...c'mon, you're in the Castro, fellas
TOTAL - 4 stars...the bargain burger got pricier but still a good deal for your walletListed in: Ground Beef & Buns, Starsky &…, CASTRObation, What's Wrong With Fast, Cheap…

Popped in here last night because it was 12:05am and there were no other options. Stood at the counter for a minute before being served, as the cashier (middle aged Latino male w/ lip piercing) chatted with the griller in Spanish. No problem. So my friend orders his food and turns to me, I place my order in Spanish, just because I like to practice whenever I get the opportunity. The guy looks at me sneers, says "English only! Order in English!" and then acted huffy throughout the rest of the transaction, probably because he was embarassed that his conversation with the co-worker, right in front of us, was inappropriate and he suddenly realized that I could understand it.
Sorry man, I don't pay money to come to a restaurant where I'll be scolded. When I go for sushi, I use whatever minimal Japanese I've picked up, when I go for German food (rare) I'll brush off my German and try my best. And when I hear clerks speaking in Spanish, I relish the opportunity to use it. If he would prefer to speak English only with customers, for whatever reason, I can respect that, and a simple transition on his end to English, or even a polite request to do so from my end, would have not been a problem for me.
I've never received such a rude response before... and I'll tell you one thing... I'll never receive it again, because my friends and I will never come into Sliders again. You insult a young customer who is in your neighborhood five times per week, you lose a repeat customer (and all of his friends) for the next forty years. Good job. The attitude just cost your owners a few thousand dollars of income. But the economy is strong and everyone is spending money out at restaurants these days, I'm sure they won't be bothered. -
Review from Meg T.
So I had fries, mostly cause I gorged myself on Dim Sum earlier in the night.
But the fries were, as said before, the kind that come out of a package. Took me back to my childhood, right there and they were pretty good.
However, I paid 5 bucks for fries and water. 5 bucks? Even Walnut Creek is not that expensive.
Please.
I could make that shit myself.
Including the bottle. -

Yummy.
I've only been here once when I had a massive craving for a burger. It was nice and peppery. May be too peppery for some people but I loved it. Decent pricing and size for the Castro.
I also liked their side bar of toppings. It has the typical tomato, onions, and lettuce but also has other weird toppings like beans. I was too cheap to buy chili (even though someone else paid) so I was happy to get some kidney and garbanzo beans for free. But who eats plain beans on hamburgers?Listed in: Castro

I've become somewhat of a meat fiend in the last 2-3 months for some reason. Living in the Noe Valley doesn't give you too many options for a good burger--unless you count Barney's. But the numbers of kids makes me want to hurl my fries at them to get them to shut up.
Slider's is right over the hill, cheaper, had the fun salad/condiment bar.
I would rather listen to drunk gaggles of gay men bitch about not getting any, then see the products of heterosexuals getting some.
Did I mention I hate kids? -

I hate the brightness of this place, harsh overhead lighting should be OUTLAWED, I tell you!!! But I love the revolving grill, and the burgers are delicious. Crinkle cut fries and ketchup, pretty standard.
This is a perfect stop if you are a couple of beers deep and want to put something in your stomach before having a couple more.Listed in: My Favorite Diners

I freakin love this place and have been going here for over 15 years. The cashier and cook are always polite and fun and the food is consistently good. Yeah, it's not a gourmet burger place. But I'd rather eat here than any burger place in SF just because of the consistently good food and friendly staff. GO SLIDERS!!!

ok seriously it's sketchy inside and food is sketchy when it's inside you.
For hangover food I'd much rather do Harvey's fried mac and cheese, or head over to bugermiester on Church. -

It's a greasy spoon kind of burger place. They also have chicken breast and turkey as meat options. My biggest complaint about this place is the ventilation is terrible and you smell like hamburgers for the rest of the day.

Lets just put it like this... its a burger joint, im not walking in expecting five star dining experiences when i eat here.. its local, its convienent, its cheaper than burgermeisters, and well its a flippen hamburger...
I give it five stars... why you ask.. let me sum it up like this.....
"BACCCCCCCCCCCON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I order a bacon burger with cheese, i lost count of how many slices of bacon were on this bad boy... It was somewhere around rock star status and im going to die from clogged arteries, but die a happy man with a tum tum full of delicous bacon!
Well the food is cheap, and when i am heading home from a happy hour bonanza i know i can always stop in here for a decent burger..
yet to receive any issues with the staff.. they seem friendly enough..
they have an amazing condiment bar for you to "pimp your burger out" or something like that..
what can i say, i like bacon. -

Dear Sliders Diner,
1. You don't have sliders on the menu.
2. You are cash only and are not cheap.
3. Your burgers are overcooked and bland.
Please go away. -
Review from Daniel C.

I know, Sliders is about as average as you can get for small American diners, but the burgers are good enough, and this is a RECESSION.
I'm happy to report that this place is much busier than usual, visited by folks that I used to see at finer establishments. You see, the best way to handle a recession is to CUT BACK on your spending, and grab a $9.00 dinner here instead of a $40.00 dinner in the fufu Land of Zuni, or a $60 jaunt at Jardinière et Balconnière Développée par Larbaletier. Jesus, let these places suffer for a while, and be more responsible with your budgets, people!
For a healthy alternative at Sliders, grab the turkey burger, or their veggie burger. The grill makes them taste so good, you can't really even tell what you're eating! Ignore the few looney whack-jobs in the seating area, and you'll surely enjoy your order.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Besides leaving the bathroom key in the bathroom that created a line of confusion and frustration to those waiting outside the bathroom door (until I realized my oops and corrected it, shamefully), I had a decent hamburger experience here. Why must places have bathroom keys anyhow? It is such a gas station approach.
Anyhow, The turkey burger with swiss was served on a whole wheat bun and washed down with a bubbly calistoga.
The condiment bar was sad and droopy. Yet, I managed to serve up some onions and strangely, kidney beans on my burger.
The burger itself was really tasty. The staff was polite and even wished us a good night as we left.
Good place to get a late bite. -

I went to Sliders due to the constant pleading I endure from my best friend on a daily basis, and to add to the roster of burger joints on the list for the "Burger Quest".
I was surprised at the laid back, quiet atmosphere inside when outside is the Castro. I ordered the cheeseburger combo and recieved it quickly. No need to beg the cook to stop himself from putting onions all over my burger, all the condiments and veggies are at your disposal in buffet style set up.
The burger was delicious, the fries crispy, and the only thing that was off putting was the plastic surgery special playing on "Entertainment Tonight" on the TV.Listed in: When I want some red meat

Whenever I decide to go on a diet and swear off junky, fattening foods, an irresistible craving for a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of onion rings overtakes me. I satisfy that craving, and sabotage my diet, at Sliders.
I otherwise never eat here. The food is mediocre and pricey, and the service is blah. One time, I was refused my grilled cheese sandwich because "we're kind of busy and it will take too long".
I don't know of any other restaurant on Castro at which I can order a grilled cheese sandwich, but if I did I'd go there instead. -

Food is decent, cooks/server are rude. More about taking your money than providing a service. They honestly charged me $0.50 for ranch with my onion rings... Really?? What do you use with inion rings?? Ranch!! For $4.00 onion rings why do you have to pay more???

Ok, Three times I have eaten there that is it for me! Noise Noise and More Television noise.
I wished that they would take out the noisy Television (The one on Castro) that was blasting when I was there. It is so distracting!!! Ok, what can I say about a "average"prices place (basic decor and nothing to fancy) that has all the fixings so you can build your own made to order charbroiled hamburgers.
There are many places that might be better like Burger Meister on Church & Market (It is not do it yourself and is a weeeee bit higher in price.).
Anyway, I love the charred taste of the beef and I totally love the large assortment of salad fixings to garnish your burger. Ok, for those of you who don't eat meat, they have fish and vegi- burgers.
I do like the one on Polk Street. No TV (Thank goodness) and the decor and layout is nicer than the one on Castro.
But I like Burger Meister better for my money! -

It's weird that I always forget about slider's, but every time i go, I have a very good experience and a very tasty burger.
My last visit featured a mushroom-swiss burger and a corona. Yummy! That was right before my friend and i went to the bar and he was hit on by his ex-boyfriend's ex-boyfriend. Then, when said ex-boyfriend arrived (with shocked expression on his face), and dragged out the other ex-bf, ... I'm just going to stop because I'm getting confused. Slider's has great burgers! -

Is it really fair to review a place that you only eat at while drunk? Well, I'll try...
1. It's easy to say nothing about it is really memorable, but I usually come here in the middle of a blackout.
2. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and oh god are they patient with your drunk ass trying to figure out how many patties you really need to feel satisfied.
3. Put cheese on those fries. You're not there for your health.
4. Finally, a place that puts dill--not sickly sweet bread and butter--pickles at the condiment bar. Make for great drunk-ass snacking while waiting for your burger to come up.
5. You'll reek like meat when you go to your next bar. Factor that into your pub crawl planning. Good for Daddy's, probably not so good for Badlands.
6. Are there better burgers to be had elsewhere? Of course. Are they less then a block away? Nope! Let's go to Sliders! Oy. -

As i bit into my into my medium well hamburger, I was reminded of time i ate a cardboard box. I then glanced across the table i noticed blood dripping from the mouth of my lunch date as he bit into his medium well swiss cheese and mushroom burger. The raw flesh reminded of the time I visited a the tour of a slaughterhouse, the scene of carnage gave me frightening nightmares every day for the next 5 years.
Even looking at this restaurant makes me want to get my stomach pumped to avoid what seems like inevitable ...
