Great Pizza.
This is a New York Style, by the slice pizza joint. It seems to be locally owned. They've been open for about 10 months, and seem like a great addition to the neighborhood.
Our Experience:
We read a review on Yelp, and then saw a great coupon flier in the mail. Went in on a Friday, and the place wasn't too crowded. Two flat screen TVs, and we asked that they put the Dodger game on the one we could see from our little table. In a few minutes it was on, and I was enjoying my team, great slice of pepperoni, and coke with free refills on a warm Friday evening. We each had a slice, and shared a soda, and the bill was less than $4.00, we tipped an extra $2.
The pizza was hot, and burned the roof of my mouth a bit.
I get the sense they do more lunch business than dinner, but the delivery guys were in and out the whole time.
Check them out, and support this great small business. -

The NY Style pizza at Slices is actually really good. It's the prices and service that leaves something to be desired. The workers have never properly greeted me, not even when being directly greeted by me. There is a lot of room for improvement at this establishment.
$10 for 1 slice of veggie, 16 oz drink, & a large chopped salad is not a good deal. Especially when the salad is 70% iceberg lettuce. I was told this salad had chopped romaine lettuce prior to ordering it. You can see for yourself by the linked picture that it didn't.
$7.50 for 2 slices of pepperoni, a side salad, a 16 oz drink is a little more reasonable but don't expect too much from the side salad and the pepperoni is the greasiest pizza I've ever seen- it took 3 napkins to soak up all the oil!
I'm glad to have easily accessible pizza-by-the-slice walking distance from my work but, delicious pizza or not, I'm quickly growing tired of overpaying for the convenience. -

Pretty good pizza at this place. I like to order it to go and reheat it in my oven at home while watching TV or something. (Lazy, right?). Nice people work there, good prices.
TIP: check for specials because they sometimes have great deals. -
Review from Frank L.
I usually work out at lunch time every day. Today, I was feeling exceptionally lazy. Yeah, I schepped my gym bag to the office with me this morning, but I knew the minute I woke up that I wasn't going to make it to the gym. I totally overdid it yesterday and I'm all sore and achy and tired and achy. (Hear me whine like a little girl?) Plus, I've been trying to go off Monster energy drinks cold turkey. "Hi, I'm Frank and I'm a caffeine-aholic."
My problem: I feel guilty if I don't work out. My solution: Take my mind off of it by arranging a lunch outing with co-workers. Thus, I grabbed a couple of fellow office drones and dragged them to one of my SFV bookmarks: Slices.
Today was $1.00 slice Tuesday at Slices. That's cheese slices for one buck with the purchase of a beverage--a small soda will set you back $1.50. Not a bad deal, considering their topless slices usually go for $2.50.
I got two slices of cheese and a large drink. Why did I get a large drink when they have free refills? I always do stupid things like that. In any case, you order the food at the counter, they give you a number and then they bring it out to you when it's ready. The restaurant is long and skinny, with small tables along the wall up front and a few larger tables toward the back. They have a couple of flat screen TV's mounted on the walls, but I couldn't see either one of them from where I was sitting.
Ahhhhhh, the caffeine in my Coke cured my headache immediately. Gawd, I'm a junkie! We got to Slices pretty early, just beating the lunch rush. They have a few parking spots in back, which is good because there's no place to park out on Ventura and the place filled up with customers while we were eating.
The pizza is thin crust, NY style. I have to say that it was just okay. It tasted fresh and the crust was cracker-crispy thin, but it didn't knock my socks off. Let's just say I was happier to pay $1.00 than the usual $2.50. All in all, I'd go back to Slices again because the place is pretty close to my office. They have $2.00 Sabrett hot dogs on Wednesdays, so I'll have to try that, along with some of their hot wings.
Now, I've got to get back to feeling guilty for not working out.Listed in: On the Blvd. They Take It Hard, PIZZA!

New York style pizza with a New York attitude.
The pizza is nothing special, just your typical thin crust pizza with a pool of grease on top of the cheese.
I may have liked it more if the cashier (manager/owner?) wasn't such a jerk.
As huge supporters of new local businesses, my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try one weekday evening. We walked in, and stood at the register for a few minutes before even being acknowledged. They weren't busy. In fact, there was only one other customer in the place. The cashier just decided that talking to another employee was more important than us.
He finally walked up to the register and asked us what we wanted. Just as we began to place our order, he turned away from us to start talking to another employee who walked into his area. We had to wait for him to finish his conversation before we could order. As we were ordering, the other employee began to walk away. We were still speaking to him, placing our order, but he turned around and started speaking loudly to the other employee again as she walked away.
Seriously? Is this how you treat customers when you are trying to start a business??
We finally placed our order and got our greasy food and tiny size "large" drinks. Like I said, nothing special and definitely not worth waiting for. It's not even a great price to make it worth what you get.
I will not be going back to this place. There are plenty of other pizza places in the area.
If you do decide to try this place for yourself, I recommend getting the pizza delivered. I think a different guy does the deliveries!

EDITED TO ADD: After viewing the profile photo of Sean (who left a comment on my review), I can confirm that he IS the individual I spoke of above.
Sean, I was not looking for your "undivided attention" from the moment I arrived, as you suggested in your private message to me. I was simply not expecting such UNfriendly service from you. We waited at the register so long that we almost walked out because we felt you didn't want to serve us.
Yelp is a place for individuals to post their honest opinions and reviews. Based on my experience, that is what I have provided. Please respect it as such.
With that said, Sean seems to be very concerned with the restaurant's reputation, and that is great. Perhaps many people will have better experiences than I did and will love this place. I simply am not one of those people.Comment from Sean D. of Slices 11/3/2009

Today I happen to be in the neighborhood and walked right into their "soft" grand opening at Slices. The official grand opening is Monday, Oct. 27th (according to the sign on the window).
I ordered a couple of slices and a drink to go. The staff is kind.
The pizza was delicious and a greasy guilty pleasure. The slices where thin and they have a good variety to choose from.
I'll gladly return to Slices, the world can't have enough pizza joints! -

Once upon a time I had the best NY style pizza ever... In Philadelphia... I must happily relinquish that title and hand it over to Slices. Seriously. Best damn NY style pizza I've ever had. And yes, I've actually been to New York and had their pizza... several times..
Speedy delivery, uber friendly staff, bottled Coke made with real sugar (AKA Mexican Coke) and blissful pizza. 5 out of 5.
Now, if only someone could only do the same thing for Chicago style pizza that Slices has done for NY Style pizza out here... Then I'd truly feel at home. -

Slice is one of the best treasures in LA and will sadly be missed. As I child this location was called Big Slice and I decided to reminisce and try the location again one night. The new owner gave us a free slice of their different gourmet pizzas and we were in love. Their Buffalo Chicken Pizza was TO DIE for. Amazing. I hope that the new owners, Mulberry Street, do this business justice. Two years of love and pizza goodness should be respected.

According to a friend of mine, there used to be a pizza joint at this exact location called Big Slice. Well that was years ago so I'm not surprised that the place has a new name and has a new layout. Still my friend said that it was still just as good as back then. I can't take his word for it since I just didn't know the place. But our recent visit to this place did not disappoint.
It did take a while to bake our pie, but when it was delivered to our table it was worth it. The crust was thin, the sauce was just perfect on our large pepperoni pizza. Another friend ordered their veggie deal that included a slice of veggie pizza, a large salad and large drink. The salad was huge portion. As my friend put it, well worth the price.
We are definitely heading back there when we are in the area. -

First time to this place today. I am from NY & been out here a long time. After all these years, finally nice to find a pizza place that when it calls itself NY Pizza; it pretty much is. NY Pizza slice is the size we used to get back east, thin crust & you could fold it half. (You Easterners know what I mean) It wasn't too greasy. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly. Would come here again.
2 slices, side salad & a soda for only $7.99 -

I went to Slices on an invitation from Sherman Oaks Elementary School. It was a fundraiser night. It was Wednesday around 7:00pm so of course there weren't a lot of ppl. I parked in back, no sweat, there were many open spaces.
The service was good, the cashier girl attended us (party of two) quickly. I ordered two slices of cheese pizza for $2.50 each and one slice of peperoni for $300. I was hungry so I added 6 pieces of "Jumbo Wing Drumettes" for $5.95 along w/two small drinks. Don't remember how much those where. Total was just under $20. Not too bad for two ppl. Anyways.....on to the food.
The pizza is nothing special. If this is what NY style pizza is I'll pass any day of the week and order Pizza Hut or get a Digiorno pizza from the freezer aisle instead. The pizza is thin & oily w/rubbery cheese. They served the pizza in those paper plates you get at 99cent store. 100 pack for $1. One of the pizza slices had flower on the bottom. Flower covered about 1/3 of the pizza. So much flower we began to play w/it by powdering our nose & cheeks. Lol...!
The wings, nothing special either. The Tyson freezer hot wings are 10x better. First, Jumbo shouldn't be used to describe them. I ordered honey bbq. Honey bbq isn't on the menu. The cashier girl gave me several extra choices then what is listed on the menu (that was cool). Wings where crispy. A little too crispy. Taste as if they've been sitting out a while. Wings came w/two celery sticks. Yes two. No ranch dressing to go along w/it. :(
As we where eating a third person joined our party. She ordered Buffalo wings and a slice of pepperoni. Both seems to be much fresher than what I received. Another patron is walking out and thanks the owner. She makes a comment saying this is the best pizza she's had in a long while. If there is a next time, I want to order from the same menu she used.
It was Wednesday, they have Sabrett hotdogs. I decided not to order one. Since pizza wasn't great I could only imagine what a hotdog straight from NY taste like. Pass...! -

I love this place! Delicious greasy goodness. The health nuts need to go elsewhere as Slices only caters to those who have working taste buds.
The house salad is awesome in its simplicity: mixed greens, tomato, onion, and Italian dressing. Perfect. The pepperoni pizza is a must, I get at least a slice every time I go. I love the specials and the frequent buyer card-thingy.
I live within walking distance which is good for the environment (the jury is still out on the effect on my waistline though. LOL) My only gripe is that they aren't open later. Pizza cravings know no hours of operation. -

This is probably the best pizza I've had in L.A. A little bit expensive for pizza, but a perfect crust, the perfect amount of cheese and olive oil on the top, Sauce is really, really good and not glopped on too thick or kept too thin.
I only eat cheese pizza, so I can't vouch for the toppings, but this cheese pizza was really spectacular. -

I am a pizza junkie. Of course as a former East-Coaster, I had to try this place out. The first time we tried it, we liked it okay. We recently ordered a pie from there and it was so good! I ate 4 slices before I realized what happened. Nice large slices you can fold in half. The crust is thin but, not too thin. And... you don't feel all gross when you're finished. I will put this place in my rotation!

so i was craving some pizza and suggest this to mike, he is like sure order it. I call, say ello, the guy hangs up, im like ,,,,ok, so mikes says here, let me call. He calls the guy answers, ok we order a 16" mushrooms, bell peppers and pepperoni. I decide im going to roast some onions and garlic at home at top it on the pizza when it arrives. the guy chris calls me before he leaves, want to make sure where the address is, ok, cool... pizza gets her in a very timely manner. here are a few issues, VERY greasy, no condiments like parm cheese, red pepper flakes or peppercinos. Mike asked for light on the sauce and crispy... they definatley delivered. another like grope... i ordered bell peppers, this is the first place that gave red, yello and green bell pepper... kinda gross since i dont like red peppers on ANYTHING,,, ok thats my review.

Today I became a fan of Slices. My coworker and I drove by and decided to check it out. I ordered one of the specials, 2 slices of pie, side salad and fountain drink for about $8.00. The pizza was thin, hot and very tasty. Not over sauced, not over cheesed, not over greased, just a darn fine pizza. The salad was fresh and a nice compliment for my lunch. I don't know how well the thin slices would hold up to a delivery, but eating fresh out of the oven was some of the best pizza I've had in LA in a long time.
I will definitely be a repeat customer of this restaurant. -

Fab pizza and the best service! Definitely head there for a great slice or pie!
tonight I learned of the this wonderful establishment in SFV. As a professor who likes to order in for my students, I came across Sean, the owner serendipitously, trying to call anothe rpizza place. He was more than willing to accommodate me and the delivery of an order for 30 folks. Each and every piza was terrific, well recieved and quickly enjoyed by the new grad students( and staff and faculty as well). thank you Sean for being there, filling the need, our bellies with wonderful pizza, service was perfect, delivery on time. You know have a regualr customer from me and USC as well as hopefully all the new students who can frequent your place.

The pizza at Slices is fine... bland, but fine if you don't want to order from a large chain. The service on the other hand is a nightmare. The woman who takes orders via telephone on Friday nights is rude and unhelpful. The last time we called, she refused to honor the special that they left us a coupon for about a month ago and interrogated us as if we were trying to scam her. I'm done with this place.

After trying Slices for the first time today for an office lunch delivery, I have become a fan. Great NYC style thin pizza. The staff and delivery personnel are very kind, friendly and accommodating and the quality of the food is really good. I highly recommend their slice lunch special (2 slices of pizza with a side salad and drink (good salads, good toppings, good dressing). Check it out for your next delivery!

We went to slices Friday night and enjoyed a great, cheap meal. Thanks to a coupon mailer, we got 2 slices and shared a soda for $3.50. The pizza was fantastic. Best I've eaten in LA (next to Jacopo's) so far. It's a NY style slice that came out perfect after being reheated in the oven. The place was deserted and the staff was kind enough to turn the TV to the Dodger game and let us sit for a while. I'll definitely go back again...maybe even this Friday.

Is there another New York? Because if this is New York pizza, it can't be New York, New York! It must be New York, South Dakota or something. This pizza is horrible. I brought a large pie home and my wife (who would eat a dead bird if you put cheese whiz on it) wouldn't even eat this. First off, it's never a good sign when you walk into a pizza joint and it's empty at 7:00 pm on a Saturday. That should of been my first sign to turn around and cut my losses. But I still gave it a chance. I was gonna get just a few slices, but they looked like they have been sitting out since the begining of time. So after I ordered a large cheese, I watched (who I assumed was the owner) try about 3 times to make the crust which he kept putting holes in and remaking it. On the third or fourth try he finally got it to where there were no holes in it. Although it looked more like a football than a pie. I was asstonised to see them use thinly sliced pieces of cheese instead of shedded mozzarella. All I could think was, what am I getting for $+20? This pie looked like it cost about $3 if that to make. By the time I got it home (15 min) if was cold. A paper thin crust and barely any cheese will have that effect. The slices were limp as an old man who can't find his pills and the crust was translucent.
I might as well of ate my $20 bill.
There are a ton of pizza joints on Ventura Blvd, please do yourself the favor and try them. But you might wanna judge Slices yourself, because I can't imagine they'll be around very much longer. And I suspect the other reviews here were written by friends and family. -

I just ate here with my son. The experience was really cool. We ate pizza that tasted like we were back in Brooklyn. We sat at the counter and talked to the owner while we watched ESPN. The owner was there and we talked about college hoops. He's a Syracuse guy, and I'm a Dukie so there was much to debate. Very cool. And the price was amazing. My son asked me already if we can go back for lunch tomorrow.
