Slice of Hollywood is one of your best values for pizza!

My daughter loves Slice of Hollywood.  The pizzas are large for their size and delicious.  I can't say I've had any problems there...the only drawback might be street parking is sometimes hard to find.

Reasonably priced...delicious...good delivery service...check it out!

Pizza was really tasty.  We got the Greek Goddess and the equivalent of a Meat Lovers.  Both pizzas were extremely filling, so plan for that.  I typically prefer a thin-crust style pizza, but this was more along the lines of hand tossed.  The toppings were fresh and while we ordered the food to come at 6pm, they turned up early, which was better than the alternative.  The meat pizza was a little greasy, but in both cases the flavors were excellent.  I especially enjoyed the combination of spinach/artichoke hearts/mushrooms/olives/feta.  Delicious, if a little soggy in the middle.

We also ordered the mixed wings, which were slightly burnt (hence the 3 stars instead of 4).  The flavor was pretty good, but again, would have preferred less char on the wing itself.

We'd order from here again, but probably would shoot for 1 pizza to share (among 2 ppl) as opposed to getting one each, since now we're eating leftovers for days.  I'd also avoid the wings - we agreed next time we'd try something different, like the cheesy bread.

This place is deplorably awful. Let me tell you why...

First off, I really couldn't understand anything that the order taker was saying. It wasn't the thick accent, just the rushed way she spoke and annunciated. I did, however, place an order for an extra large pizza to be delivered to Berkeley with her and assumed that all was well beyond the strange conversation. I received a call from another employee about 30 minutes later, asking about my address, only to be informed that they didn't actually deliver to my area. Um, what?

This is bad on several levels. If you don't deliver pizza to Berkeley, it's probably a good thing to NOT explicitly state on your website that you do. Even if that was an honest mistake, the first person whom I spoke to should have verified my address and told me that they didn't deliver to my area well BEFORE placing the order. The fact they waited to call me about the discrepancy (about a half hour later) only tells me that they baked the pizza and only realized the issue afterward. They could have accepted their mistake by driving over anyway, which would have most likely resulted in a larger-than-usual tip by me, but they chose to fully deny me of something I had been waiting for over 30 minutes to devour.

That is just terrible customer service. I don't care if the pizza is shitty or outstanding - you just don't do that. It felt like I was being punished for their mistake. Like I stated previously, don't say that you deliver to Berkeley when you don't! Change your website and specify your areas of delivery - and when you totally mess up an order, it's your JOB to make it right.

I don't know where these glowing reviews came from, but this was hands down the WORST pizza I've ever had, quite possibly some of the worst food in general I've had.

boyfriend's birthday party was friday, and his cousin from LA is staying at my place as well. saturday, we all woke up extremely hungover and none of us could move. being the gracious host that I am, I ordered pizza for us. one large bbq chicken pizza and one meat calzone came out to $30.00.

I don't know who the fuck is making the pizza but they have absolutely no clue what they're doing. I've added photos to the yelp page to prove my point. first, the ingredients are hardly even chopped. I like onion, but I don't like a HUGE CHUNK OF RED ONION. the chicken was also in huge pieces, along with the bell pepper.. you get the point.

now, this is especially problematic since the crust is this flimsy piece of cardboard. actually, no. cardboard is thicker than the crust. CRACKERS are thicker than the crust. the crust is PAPER THIN, and you combine that with the heavy, chunky toppings, and you get a slice of pizza that completely falls to shit the second you touch it. I would forgive this if the pizza tasted good, but it was so unbelievably bland I ate half a slice and gave up. the sauce has absolutely no seasoning or flavor, it's just super plain canned tomato sauce. the crust has absolutely no flavor, the chicken had no flavor... just horrible.

I thought the calzone would be a nice runner up, but it was just as bad. crust is totally flavorless and the whole thing was this weird burnt color, instead of being golden brown like it should be. it was chewy and dry and impossible to eat. I am actually offended that I got this food. and I'm especially pissed that I spent $30.00 on it *shakes fist*. avoid like the plague. dominoes is better than this. and I hate dominoes.

I don't know how they stay in business considering how large their salads are for the price.  And they have the best cheesy bread in the area, for only $4.  I love the house made dressings and quick delivery.  Service is always friendly, I have been ordering here for years and finally decided to post- only had one issue in years which was promptly addressed to my satisfaction.  A nice local business to support when you crave salad and breadsticks! Pizza is also tasty with many options for toppings and I believe that they roast their chicken in-house- yummy!!

I have ordered from this establishment for over a year getting delivery and all of a sudden even though I live in my apartment complex and i feel safe they say its a rule that we have to go down and pick up the food from them... whats the point of delivery - to your door!!!! SOO pissed if I wasn't hungry and had a car I would have gone and gotten something by now. Oh well they give me free delivery and get no tip. What a bunch of cowards... the world is the world and that's why you keep pepper spray on you and a minimum amount of cash.. geez I worked delivery and never made a customer come down to get their food. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

Totally solid, dependable pizza for delivery. Much better than nearly all of the garbage pizza joints that are available on the online food-ordering sites. It's not quite NYC style, but the dough is not chewy, thick or sweet. Garlic parmesan wings are also pretty slamming. Perfect for when you just can't face making dinner for yourself again.

Oh man, I am so bummed. We started ordering from Hollywood when Mama Rosa's pizzas started showing up with an extra layer of grease. The prices and menu were essentially the same, and I always love to treat myself with a slightly overpriced slice of yummy dessert.

I was impressed with their salads. A large portion, quite tasty and cheap. Pizza was decent. My only requirement to pizza, which makes selecting a pizza place somewhat limited, is that they must have ranch sauce instead of marinara. Call it an addiction if you will, but anyone who has ever had this substituted at my behest has joined the Ranch Lovers Party. Hollywood did this without fail for the longest time, and I was content.

Alas, my last two deliveries were all fail. I am the designated pizza orderer because I have the patience and tolerance to hash through the order with people who seem trained to be as dense and make as little sense as possible. I have finessed this down to an art which includes speaking extra slow, extra clear, and having the order read back to me for accuracy purposes. My last two calls were painful. I really don't care if you come to this country unable to speak English, or even if you are born here and somehow never grasp the language, but don't make your job one where you have to take orders in English over the phone. Whatever, we made it through the orders and survived the ordeal.

However, on both of the last two occasions, my beloved pizzas with ranch sauce, which they never failed to get right in the past, showed up with marinara. They had even read my order back to me over the phone with the ranch caveat included! Boo! Hiss! Once, I'll forgive and try again. Twice? You're done in my book. What happened to you, Hollywood? Our affair had been so good!

I'll leave you with a three-star rating for the fond memories and the salad, but we're over!

I don't care what anybody says the pizza here is delicious, the crust is soft and chewy, the sauce is decent and the toppings are generous. I have paid a lot more for crap pizza at other places.

Unfortunately, I have ordered from here 4 times and each time there has been hair in my food!!!! and I say never again and then I get a coupon in the mail and forget it's the same place. I wish they would learn to wear hair nets to prevent this from happening. Sadly for me, Slice of Hollywood is major flop. What a shame

Slice of Hollywood makes really good salads. They are freaking cheap too! $3 or $4 will get you a monstrous "medium" salad. I prefer the laurel, it comes with sliced apples, candied walnuts, bleu cheese and golden beet dressing. I know it sounds weird but try it, it's good. You can also try their Caesar and for no additional charge they'll load on heaps of garlic free of charge. Breath mints won't fix it, make sure you don't have to meet anyone after.
They're pizza is.. Eh. Fills the belly and is also inexpensive. This would be an amazing late night type establishment but given the nearby competition of lanesplitter and it's proximity to heart and dagger, I don't know if that's feasible. Maybe drunken easy loungers would support it.

I got drunk and had some wings from here and ended up vomiting from the oily, horrifying taste in my mouth.  I asked them how their wings were prepared...  They answered with "Fried and basted in Franks".  Instant turn on for me.

    I got:
1.) Baked in some oily substance (Lard?)
2.) Had some skunkie tasting herbs on them (Bad Weed?)
    3.) Undercooked to boot (Salmonella?)

Super bummed.  If anyone knows a good wing place in the Grand Lake/Lower hills please send me a message.

Now, don't go thinking this is the best pizza in Oakland. Though it's probably the top of its class. That's the important context for this five star review.

This is that pizza you want when you want quick, filling, soft pizza and a huge salad for $20.

I just got home from three weeks camping, and the last thing I want to do is go grocery shopping. Ordering this dinner will allow me to hermit-up for at least another 24 hours. I'm provisioned with medium-crust pizza with no skimpy pile of toppings, and caesar salad that sprung out of the box when I opened it, it's so tightly packed in there. Dressing on the side, natch.

Sure, Slice of Hollywood is two blocks from my house as the crow flies. Thing is, this is the pizza you order when you want a hot bath and movies and don't want to go anywhere. Hooray for Slice of Hollywood!

I received a flyer from Slice of Hollywood so decided to give it a try tonight. Given $5 for a medium pizza I wasn't expecting the best pizza in the world but given other places that have similar deals that I've tried I assumed it would be relyably mediocre.

While ordering I was quoted 45min for delivery which was a little longer than I'm used to but seemed reasonable for a possibly busy night (it was wednesday). But when more than an hour passed I called about it and was told that it was on its way but that multiple deliveries were being made at the same time so they couldn't give any idea of when it would get here. My pizza finally arrived more than 1 1/2 hours after ordering (this alone made me a little annoyed I didn't just make dinner). I was still willing to possibly give the place a second chance,until...

My vegetarian pizza ended up with a big ol' stray piece of sausage. EWWW!

Ordered a pizza and soda for my contractors the other day to thank them for such hard work. Ordered enough so I would get some too :)
1 star off the bat for having bacon. REAL bacon on the pizza. Not canadian bacon, not fake bacon, but REAL bacon. Bacon on pizza is damn good.
Props for quick delivery - only took about 20 minutes
The delivery guy did call and ask me to come to the door right before he got  there. I don't think its a big deal - better safe for the minimum wagers.
As ordered, plenty of cheese and pepper packets unlike previous reviewers. Will be my go-to delivery for now.

    Wow. GREAT pizza here!

Tried these guys for the first time tonight.

    - Price-wise it's not the greatest value I've ever seen but taste-wise it's quite exquisite. Delivery was fast (they quoted 30-45 mins & it took a couple minutes less than 30).

Service was direct, friendly & efficient.

Something else cool: They delivered to Alameda too which is neat as they're located in Oakland.

... I feel like I can't stress how YUM the pizza is.

We'll def. order from them again.

This is our new default pizza delivery place.

No, the pizza isn't amazing, so why the four stars?

+1 star - Fast as hell! They always say 30-45 minutes, and with one single exception on a Friday night, we have gotten our pies in 20-30 minutes.

+1 star - Great staff. Never screwed up our order once, delivery kids are friendly. They used to park 2 doors down and call on the cell phone, but recently have been walking pies to the door. (listening to feedback = awesome)

+1 star - Cheap. Hey, these days the old wallet is a little thin, so value is a BIG deal. They have some amazing coupon deals.

+1 star - Pizza. Yeah, the crust is a bit doughy, but they pile on hella cheese, a decent amount of toppings, and we haven't gotten food poisoning.

So, fast, cheap, friendly, and non life threatening are really all I am looking for when I get that craving for a slab of artery clogging goodness. Hence the 4 stars.

No, it's not Arizmendi, or Chez Panisse, but that's like comparing 7-11 to Berkeley Bowl. Different beasts. Sometimes you want an heirloom tomato, sometimes you want a nuclear waste colored slurpee.

Slice of Hollywood took over an old business but added freshness to my favorite salad spot.  The Laurel and Cobb are the best and are always full of big pieces of chicken and yummy dressing.

Have your salad tossed and add a slice of pizza and you are good for the rest of the day.

All the staff is friendly and I love watching them cut up the fresh veggies right before they add them to your menu selection.

They really have a great selection that makes it easy for a girl to watch her figure:-)

I woke up this morning with a killer hangover.  Eight hours later I was ready for a cure and decided to try this place- just what I needed.  The pizza showed up about an hour after I placed my order and it was full of my toppings and the crust was super soft.  I also got the cheesy breadsticks (told you I needed a hangover cure) and for $3.99, they were worth it.

All in all, this is a step (or three) above Dominoes and a step (or three) below places like Jupiter.  Eat here when you want to save some money but also enjoy your food.

This food trip wasnt the best one I've taken. First of all, I asked for a veggie pizza and I got a MEAT pizza. We took it back to the counter and they apologized and said they'd make us the veggie pizza we ordered, and that took another 15 minutes on top of the 15 minutes it took to get the first pizza (it says on the sign out front "2 min" pizza.) On my salad I asked for parmesan cheese and got no cheese at all.  TO top it all off, the pizza was SUPER undercooked! Can you believe it?!

    Never going back. Ever.

If you're looking for shmancy pants-yummy-yummy-gourmet-oh yeah I'll pay 25$ for that, this is not the pizza joint you're looking for.

When I'm renting a video from Blockbuster and have nothing but dollar bills and change in my pocket- Slice of Hollywood is perfect!

I walk in, nothing pretty to look at. In fact they have this really tacky handbag up on the wall that's airbrushed with a picture of Hollywood on it. Rap music is always blasting and even though I'm not a fan it's good to know the employees can listen to what they want. Service is friendly, counter person will show me a better deal if I neglected to see it. So all that said, I only get one thing. $5 medium pizza. $5, that's it- tax included.

This is a 5 star place when your cheap and hungry.

    I'd say it's a 3.25/3.5, more than a 3.0. Too bad yelp doesn't have those options.

If it means anything to you, my SO and his best friend remember this being a Razzo's and supposedly the menu is the exact same.
The three of us were biking around Lake Merritt over the weekend and worked up an appetite. I wasn't in the mood to drop bank, and they weren't in the mood to sit and wait forever for food. SO and I got a "large" cheese for a little under $12. I really like the sauce, crust was alright - I typically eat all the scraps and it just wasn't good enough to do with this crust. Whatever. The cheese was delicious and just cheesey enough. SO's best friend got pepperoni and pineapple and it seemed they were generous enough with the toppings.

I've had better pizza, but for price and quickness, no complaints from me.

So, we decided to to out and find them. Now I wish we'd gone for Thai food. What a waste of my taste buds.
The atmosphere is tragic, a coat o paint would go a long way. It's definitely more a pick up or delivery place.
Anyhow, The Asian people making the pizza were pleasant. The pizza was bland, the sauce was canned the chicken tasted boiled then baked. All around I was sort of mad we left. Won't go back

Now, they obviously don't have the best pizzas - in fact, not even close.

But for the price (18.10+ tips for 3 mediums delivered), wtf do you expect? yeah yeah yeah the toppings is a little low and don't spread too evenly. The crust is on the soft and tastes like bread, which I like ( I guess thats why people call it soggy).

Bottom line: The quality is decent, delivery is on time, price is awesome for broke college student.

If you're looking to have a new, free-form interpretation on delivery pizza then call Slice of Hollywood for your next pie.

I called up and got my pizza ordered, the Gourmet Delight with red sauce and no garlic.  They quoted me 35-45 minute wait.  My pizza came in what seemed like 20 minutes, no joke.  This is great.

BUT delivery driver calls me up, tells me he's outside...I'm thinking, "Okay bring the damn pie up."  But he's not thinking that, he asks me to come outside.  I'm like whatever, no big deal.

I go outside and the dude isn't even there yet, I wait about a minute and he very quickly pulls up in front of me in his lowered Honda.  Maybe that's how they save time?  Never go to the door, and make people wait outside for you?

Pizza was okay, sauce was sparse, had a faint taste of the heating element, sun dried tomatoes were blackened from the heat, and the cheese was very much like silly putty.  Also one packet of Parmesan and one packet of chili flakes, as noted previously by other yelpers, is crazy.

    Calling Leaning Tower next time.

This place is good. The dough is super soft and the toppings are always delicious. I wouldn't mind a little less sauce, but I can live with it. The ceasar salads here are pretty good, and they have fresh lemonade which goes great with a nice slice of pizza.

The place is clean and the staff is nice. If your in the area and craving some pizza check'em out!

WORTH READING: We ordered 3 pizzas for a small get together last nght and one of my friends bit into a slice that contained a SHARP, JAGGED PIECE of PLASTIC about the size of a dime! Everyone immediately stopped eating and I called Slice of Hollywood right away. To my dismay the owner was NOT apologetic but rather questioning me. They offered another pizza but I would think they'd understand that people were concerned and would not be eating more - hard to trust the pizza after that.

Mind you, an adult bit into the plastic, but had it been my 2 year old niece who was eating with us it could have been much, much worse. After arguing bc they did not want to reverse the charge, I told them to pick up the evidence. Even after seeing it they wanted to charge for the partially eaten food. I was APPALLED, SERIOUSLY? Someone could have got really HURT!

Sad part of it all, pizza was not all bad and had there been no BS from the supposed owner and driver (who also forgot our 2 liter in the first place, and said we'd get a discount next time?!?) I might have let it go. SORRY, JUST HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!

Regardless, my credit card company will be disputing on my behalf.

    Horrible pizza and horrible service...

Ive been ordering from them for a while due to sheer lazyness and the fact that no one else has put their flier in front of my door.  Recently, I stopped ordering the pizza because its horrible (how do you mess up pizza) and have just been ordering salad and wings as of late.  I have always tipped their drivers very well but they have never been really nice.  I recently had a dispute over a wrong order and their remedy to the situation was $3.00 off my next order.... wow. suck it.

Now ill go to the phonebook.

Where do I begin with Slice of Hollywood?
1.)  When you place an order whoever is answering the phone is just rude, but ok I can get over that.  They really need to brush up on phone their phone skills.

2.)  The Delivery:  The driver calls me on my cellphone to meet him downstairs outside on the street.  What kind of pizza delivery pizza place does this? Not one that wants a decent tip.

3.)  The pizza is overall pretty good, not the best or worst I've had, but it's pretty good.

4.)  Just how rude they are overall if I could find another pizza delivery place that had decent pizza I would definatly take my business elsewhere.  they are just to rude and the phone call by the driver to step outside is just wrong.

5.)  You dare not call and complain because you never know what might end up in your pizza's tomato sauce.

    Crust: gooey and doughey
Sauce: canned - no zip no bite - like ketchup
    Cheese: synthetic
Sausage: each piece looked and tasted the same - bland
Mushroom: probably canned all pieces were the same

I should have ordered from the $5 pickup place - I think they must make chinese take out in the same kitchen - it smelt the same. Dont even bother...

Pizza is hard to mess up. It's just meat, cheese, bread, and red sauce, stacked ontop of each other in a neat fashion.

What I got was a box delivered to me filled with soggy crust smeared with pizza sauce, and a ball of meat and cheese smashed, bundled and clumped in the corner of the box. We ordered 3 medium pizzas and 2 of them were destroyed in transit on the way to my house, I'm not sure if the driver was hanging the pizzas out the window or storing them in his flatbed truck, letting it slid around the bed while driving to my apartment. They looked like pizza the hut threw up all over some soggy pizza crust. Plus One of the pizza boxes looked like someone took a boot to it.

Shame on slice of hollywood for delivering this pizza to me in that condition, shame on me for not checking the order before paying for it.
