1 review for Sleep Disorders Center Of Central Texas
Based on first impressions, I wanted to turn around and find another doctor. With the hassle of time off work and co-pays, I am debating sticking it out here and keeping my fingers crossed I just got a bad first impression.
I have struggled with not getting restful sleep as long as I can remember. After scheduling with the Sleep Disorders Clinic, I felt a twinge of hope that maybe one day I will get a good night's sleep. However, upon meeting Dr. Duhon, it became obvious his bedside manner is a little harsh and brisk. As I was trying to tell him about a fairly serious car wreck I was in a few months ago and how it was affecting my already poor sleep, he interjected and discounted my injuries. I felt his inability to listen, belittling my injuries, and scoffing at mentions of alternative medicine were very off-putting. I felt on edge the rest of the visit, which it seems he picked up on, though the abrasiveness continued.
The only saving grace would be that follow up visits will be with his assistant, who hopefully has a better bedside manner. The rest of the staff was very nice and helpful, and the facilities looked nice. However, I got the impression that the center's main business is in doing a lot of sleep studies and fitting the majority of its patients with CPAP devices, by the 16,000-18,000 the doctor said he'd prescribed, and not in the other nuances of sleep disorders.
I'll come back and update if I do the overnight sleep lab and see if I get any help from the center. I hope a good night's sleep lay ahead, whether I find help here or elsewhere!
