This is a great place to practice! The driving range is almost always empty on the weekdays, and there are three practice greens within 50 yards of the parking lot, that nobody ever uses. The practice bunker is also barely used, and you can practice your chip shot by the green all day without anyone watching or waiting. I hope they don't close the place down.

As far as the course itself- It's fun and about easy/medium. The greens seem to be soggy every time I play, but the fairways are wide, and you don't need to be Tiger Woods to not lose your balls. It's about as cheap as you can get, unless you want to play at 5:30 in the morning- then Monarch Bay is where you want to be.

The staff is okay. You know you're not at a country club, but at the same time, it's not like you're at the liquor store either.

This course is ok.  Green fees are reasonable and if you play during off hours, there are some good deals to be had.  The staff is friendly and the marshalls do a good job of keeping play moving.  The course layout is straightforward and suited more for beginners and intermediate level players.  Long hitters will also love practicing their driver here.  Conditions are average and the driving range is decent.

I recently played here because I won some free passes.  I didn't  have high expectations A. Because it was Hayward and B. It was in Hayward.  Was I right!?!?!  The golf marshall was somewhat of an ass and was pretty rude.  We roll up in our golf carts and he asks to see our receipts?  Ok first of all doesn't it confirm that we paid if we are driving golf carts???  Duh.

The course itself was ok.  Not thing to be really excited about.  The fairway was nice however the greens were pretty patchy with brown spots.  I don't think I would choose to play here again unless I had free passes.

A tree lined "muni" course by the airport in Hayward.  It is LONG, and the layout seems easy enough, but if you don't always hit it straight (guilty as charged), you will pay the price by having to hit out of the woods, which are usually nice mature eucalyptus trees.  This place has slowly been improving over the last decade, so I commend the city's recreational dept.  for delivering the goods (this place used to be real ghetto).

A nice place to practice and hone your game b/c 1) it's challenging enough to keep you coming back; and 2) the weekday rates after 1 pm is an absolute steal (granted you need to have a somewhat flexible schedule to play at these hours, and i do).  It is $25 to ride, yes that's right, "with" a cart to make the afternoon round a little smoother.  With the Mission Hills 9-hole on the other side of town being at least $15 to walk, i say it is a no brainer to pay a little more and get 3X the golf in a more challenging setting.

My golf buddy lives in Hayward and he is the one who got me back over here last year.  We played it almost once a week during the whole summer.  And every time I played another course, I felt that I had learned something over at Skywest.  And for the most part, I did, and for that I give you an extra star.  Bada-bing, just like that.

I am just starting to learn how to golf...I suck because I want to hit to ball like I would with a bat...too bad the ball is on the ground.

This is a peaceful and clean course.  People seem friendly, not too uppity for my taste.

This place is hidden behind Kennedy Park and right next to the Airport.  The course is long, well kept and fees seem reasonable enough to me.

Wow, maybe I am too picky.  Or maybe I just know what I like!

I am also a beginner, I've only been at it for about 2 months, but let me tell you how disappointing this place really is. YUCK!  First off its dirty.  Yeah blame it on the weather all you freakin' want, but could you golf attendants spruce it up a bit.  I mean I know it's Hayward, but c'mon. It states on the Range Servant (you know that little machine that serves golf balls?), that you get approximately 50 balls for $5.00, and approximately 150 for $ 10.00.  Can they define what the word approximately means?

My friends at http://dictionary.com said this:

approximate -adjective, verb, -mated, -mating.
-adjective
1. near or approaching a certain state, condition, goal, or standard.
2. nearly exact; not perfectly accurate or correct: The approximate time was 10 o'clock.
3. near; close together.
4. very similar; nearly identical.

I have a bit of OCD, ok ok you got me I am OCD, I sat there and counted my bucket of balls the last few times I went there and guess what?  Approximately is 30.  That's a cock and bull story!  48, would be alright. I might even let you slide with 40, but 30??? Geebuz! You're killing me. And although the times posted read that it's open until 7pm, you could arrive there at 6:30 and they will give you one of the following statements:

1.  "The driving range is closed today" - tsk tsk, b.s. Why not put a sign out, so the rest of the free world knows not grab their clubs and drag them out to the pro shop!
2. "We are conducting maintenance on the driving range" - it's never clean, what maintenance?
3.  "We are closing early" - I got this line too frequently and decided to go where?  MISSION HILLS, which is off of Industrial Blvd.   Just a few away from the now closed Holiday Bowl off of Mission Blvd.

As far as playing a game of golf there, don't even waste your time.  There's also Cinnabar Hills which is in Gilroy I believe.  Try the Stanford Driving Range, its a bit pricey, but you get quality!

So I tried to play this course on Friday believing that I can play in the morning and then finish by early afternoon to go shopping.  By 5:30pm we were still on the course waiting on average 30 minutes per hole. There were a few 5-some playing AND I was hit by a golf ball while on a golf path.

For $35 with cart you pay for what you get. The back half of the course has no greens as they are under construction. Planes flying overhead, the wait, and poor lawn care we laughed through most of the day at the conditions and left after finishing only 15 holes. I was waiting for the groundhogs to pop up and run off with my ball.

looking for a last minute tee time for a 3 day weekend? you can be sure that skywest will have a spot! i haven't been here in YEARS and i remember it not being in the greatest shape then but who can pass up golf w/ friends?! it was also a central location for all of us to meet and only $38 for weekends. i heard they went through renovations and boy was it MUCH better than i remembered. they actually had grass on the fairway AND a lot less geese crap! it's wide and flat, a great place for beginners like my hubby who sometimes drives it 300 yds but on the next fairway =/. i get quite disappointed in myself when i don't do so well on an easy course like this. this is the 2nd time that i almost, ALMOST broke a 90....i missed a lot of easy puts *fist of fury*!!!!

**oooh and i got myself a cute lil titleist visor at the pro shop!

I played this course during their renovation period. They had makeshift greens that were no bigger than a tee box. You'd have to land it within 5 ft. of the hole to be on the green. Other than that, the course is decent for the $35 price. Fairly flat and holes are not long at all. A couple of tight fairways but all in all a decent course for the price. You definitely hear the buzz of the planes taking off and landing during your round. There is a driving range nestled in the corner of the course and the clubhouse is new.

Only the takeoffs and landings from the nearby little airport will distinguish this course from Poplar Creek or Palo Alto Muni.  Small trees for the most part, straight flat layout.
