AMAZING AMAZING beer. A bit of a trick to find and it's kinda warehouse-y, but peeking inside it's truly a factory of dreams. I mean brewery. :) Skyscraper is small, but they're great, knowledgeable in their craft, and just love drinking. They made sure to keep us feeling comfortable, all free of cost! Of course, you wanna tip 'em nice for being nice. Check their website for their hours.

I forgot the names of half the brews, but the honeyweizen, a sweet hef, was great! I also really enjoyed their fireman's brunette.

My cousin and I came down last night at around 8:30. There was a good amount of people there already but we still found a couple chairs. This time I brought a couple pint glasses chilled in the cooler on the way there. Nothing better than a good cold fresh beer poured into a chilled glass...............other than sex that is. Anyway a couple of the guys there remembered us and we shot the shit for a bit. Cool cool people that work there. I sampled what there was on tap and ended up getting a hefenweizen and a lugnut which are both awesome. Great atmosphere of patrons, employees, music being played................ and oh yeah it's a BREWERY. Can't go wrong with that. I'm gonna try and go every week on Fridays so come join me and maybe I'll buy you a beer.

Had heard great things so last Thursday a group of us made it there to try it but were told... "Sorry the place didn't make, were tearing it down". So right before our eyes they were dismantling the equipment!   It was very sad that this place didn't make it!

As didn't try it as out of business only gave it one star.

*** EL MONTE has a new HAPPY HOUR!! ***

And happy you will be!!   Thursdays and Fridays, they open their doors to the public (4-8pm) for Beer Tasting.   And it's MIGHTY tasty beer.   The "samples" are 6oz cups, and you'll get MANY of them before you stagger out of here.  Two co-workers and I got hammered from samples, and all we did was tip (I did however buy a Growler to take home).   The pints are only $4 if you're going to drink and run.  CASH ONLY here.  Great people, great music, snacks sometimes.... w00t!

The Growlers are an exceptional deal... for $20 you get this big-ass glass jug (1/2 gallon) of beer, with the hip brewery logo on the side, and refills are only TEN BUCKS.  You can get refills any time they're open (M-F 9-5p) even when there's no open house taking place.  Each Growler yields about 4 pints.  Yum.

They do have an all-day samplefest Open House once a year, but it's $20 (up $10 from last year) and not likely to be as intimate as the normal Thu-Fri thing.  Jose, aka "Cuervo", is usually the host -- he's friendly and knowledgeable and quite generous with the samples!!  They even brought out a couple of bottles of "Chili Beer" (hotter n' Satan's bong!) for us to try.  My digestive system was not too happy with this turn of events, but the rest of me loved it!  I'd have taken home a sixer, but I'm only half Mexican and I simply can't hang.  Phil is the owner/operator, he's a frickin Beer Encyclopedia!!

I first tried Skyscraper beer at Vinatero on Greenleaf Ave. in Whittier (another great place!).  They mentioned this awesome local brewery in El Monte - how was I to know they're only three blocks from my work??   Their beers are amazing - I recommend the Espresso Stout - but don't take my word for it... truck on down to their Thu-Fri tastings and see for yourself.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BREWERY!   SCREW THE CONGLOMERATES!  THESE GUYS ARE FRIENDLY AND KOOL AND MAKE A GREAT PRODUCT.

They've only been around for 3 years so BUY THEIR BEER so they don't go anywhere!   Lawd knows we need 'em here!!

went to their 3rd year anniversary event where you pay $10 for entrance fee and you get unlimited beer tasting! and no, it's not a small sample, you get a full cup of sample - it was awesome! We were able to taste 4 different kinds of beer:
    1. Sancha
    2. Lug Nut Lager
    3. Bulldozer Honeyweizen
    4. Backhoe Brown

i like all but the backhoe brown, it was intense! haha very hop-y

This brewing company is small, but it has good beer! The owner gave us a tour of his company and we learned his history of the company. The people there are nice and the beers are great!

I even learn that they distribute Sprecher's rootbeer, ginger ale, and cream soda!

Skyscraper offers brewery tours and tasting sessions on the first Saturday of every month, between 12:00 and 4:00pm

Sooo I have ALWAYS wanted to check out this brewery first hand..   I had a few beers at a local pizza joint.. the ever popular... "Lampost"  and when I asked about the beer someone told me it was from a brewery in El Monte.. I was like .. stop pullin my leg & talking shit..so I did a little research and when I looked into it.. yep.. it was true.. there most CERTAINLY is a brewery in El Monte.. ..now.. I lhave earned about it almost a year ago.. and fate has kept me from this lil gem..

That is until this weekend... I had some friends comining into town.. ther were visiting LA... from up north and I decided.. .....shoot now is a perfect time to discover a lil piece of El Monte together..

When we first arrived I was kinda confused.. I have lived in El Monte for a good 25 plus years of my life.. and when my GPS was trying to send me under a bridge as a location..I had to stop... because I am smarter than that ........and I assumed it had to be on Durfee.. some where near Mike's muffler... and yup.. I was right.

As we strolled in someone was like.. hey give me 2 minutes be right with you.. it was a guy in a t-shirt n shorts.. we waited patiently and were like..... uh..okay.. as we surveyed the area    and kinda looked around, it was simply a total workshop --brewery place.. which is so not was I was expecting... guess I was hoping to find something similar to a bar.

They do offer tastings.. and you can buy a pint for 4 bucks.. cash ONLY.. you can also grab a growler of your favorite. We were able to taste test about 4 or five beers, we got a history of the beer ,how it was made & how the brewery works...  but what really happened for me was an education of a WONDERFUL young couple living out their dreams..

The owners are hella funny.. super cool & totally my new heros.. If you like beer... like really clean tasty beer, then this is the spot.. and if you love a good fairy tale.. please support this happy ending!

I believe Southern California is finally wising up to craft beer culture and this brewery adds to my list of good ones. I recently tried their Lug Nut Lager and damn this is a tasty brew.  Here are the official stats from their website:

    Lug Nut Lager
An Amber Lager in the California Common Style. Similar to Anchor Steam, but with more hop character. Citrus hop aroma. Strong malt flavor with hints of caramel. Strong but balanced hop flavor and bitterness.
    5.2% ABV
    40 IBU

This is a good strutting around beer. I believe I drank 4 of these bad larry's immediately because they were so good. It was interesting and balanced and wasn't trying to be anything but a good and consistent brew. I think some craft breweries try to show off with flashy overdone beers, this is not the case with them.  This is the beer you bring home to mom and have many many little beers with. While not nearly as creative as craftsman brewery(see other beer reviews) I certainly won't hesitate to buy them again.

I think whole foods is one of their distributors , so look for it there.

This place has amazing beer and the owner is hilarious. The beers are cheap and plentiful and nothing feels better than getting drunk in a brewery, and the beer couldn't be fresher. Love it!!

I came here with husband. He's been here multiple times, and brought some of the beer home. He raved about the brown. He even got a growler. So, finally I went there to see for myself.

The guy helping us was very funny and nice. His name was Jose, but his name tag said Cuervo... ha ha... I tried the Sancha, lug nut, and the honeyweizen. They didn't have the brown at that time. Even though I'm not a beer person, I do like the Sancha. And we ended up hanging out and chatting with Cuervo...

Awesome beer, great people, will definitely come here again.... =D

I've been here three times, first was a weekend brew fest they had, ok good people good beer. Second was another event ok also, plenty of Hispanic people, well yeah its El Monte. Third time went on a thursday after work with a workmate, the owner serves you tastings, like some weird coffee beer not cool at all taste like coffee not beer. The other beers were cool. then it got interesting the owner a white guy, me Nicaraguan, starts talking about "wetbacks", and explaining that there are Mexicans and then there are wetbacks, wtf! With his audience of brown people, with his employee also of brown skin right next to him. I felt like doing something or saying something but the cops would have been involved. So here I am thank you YELP! I like beer but hate racists pricks that think they have a free pass. No you don't! Avoid this idiot, plenty of breweries around where the owner does not call people wet backs. Guy is lucky I grew up a couple of years back.

Skyscraper Brewing Company is about a 5 minute walk from my front door.  The Beers are super fresh & tasty.  I suggest going only when they have their Brew-house Tasting or one of their Anniversary Party's.  They don't have an Ale yet, but I'm sure they will soon.  So run, don't walk to this great little Brewery.
