I am blown away by the difference in my skin/face after working with Lynn Bartels at Skin Spirit.  Not only is she a N.P, R.N but she is an artist.  After losing body fat my face had created its own little valleys and caves!  I wasn't sure if fillers would be able to help but after meeting with Lynn she helped me create a long term plan that would give me a natural softening without shocking anyone.  As a model I needed to have the "valleys" filled in but it I could not look different.  Lynn was my savior for a quick fix... due to a photo shoot I had in a week--using Restylane on the outside of my eyes near the hair line to smooth out the valleys.  Result--natural smooth softer look.  After the quick fix she starting using Sculptra on my face.  The goal being over time my face will "fill in" more and it will be a slow natural look.  Her skills are amazing--her talents are all encompassing down to injecting skills, design of your face and understanding who you the patient really are.  You will feel safe and relaxed with Lynn as your "designer."

The entire staff at Skin Spirit is a joy to work with!  Thank you all.

I decided to try this spa out and joined in on an event that was held at the Rosewood Hotel and Spa. I had botox done by one of their nurses. I have NOT been satisfied with the results. I have been doing botox treatments from MD's previously, and know about these treatments. My eyelids were heavier after their injections, after I had requested a eyebrow lift. They left half of my forehead untouched which left this odd band untreated. I had had it, after less than two months and all the lines were back, I called and asked what to do about it and they had me come in to talk to one of their nurses, another "master injector". She could clearly see how it had not lasted and told me what she would do to correct it. One part of which would be to do a correct eyebrow lift, injecting into the top part of the forehead, relieving the lines there also, as I have always had done with previous doctors. The nurse from Skin Spirit that did the injections at the Rosewood did not do this part. This nurse proceeded to tell me that it would be $560.00, and when I asked her what they were going to do because I was dissatisfied, and didn't they stand behind their work? She laughed and said,  "yeah, our work". She offered a small discount, but it was still ridicuously expensive, and why should one have to pay to get something done correctly? I can't believe that because the previous nurse of theirs did an incomplete job.  (This nurse said she would have done the eyebrow lift differently (the correct way.)
Needless to say I was NOT going to give this place any more of my hard  earned money. She asked if I wanted the work done I said, no. That I was dissatisfied with the previous work they did, that I would return to the MD and she said," huh, hope you can get an appointment before the holidays.
Wow, not only incompetent injectors, but with an attitude also.
I cannot believe that the Rosewood would deal with this incompetent, unprofessional organization who clearly lacks customer service. They have incompetent injectors and all they care about is taking your money.

11/18/2011 Very impressed by their management, got a call first thing this morning from their Manager, Stacey Sellers who is out on maternity leave. She was very concerned about the service that I received and offered to make it right. I am going back today for a consultation with their top injector. I believe they do stand behind their work and appreciate that they are willing to make it right.

This is a small town skin care studio running a reasonable business for your vanity needs.  It's not however the latest, most high-tech, most pampering.. and certainly not the most reasonable.  But in a pinch when you can't get to the city- it will do.

I have indulged in it all: Botox, Restalyne, Latisse, Microdermabrasion, laser, medical peels.. you name it... I have had it all done at a zillion places.. and this will be my "desperate" place when I can't get anywhere else.  But never my first, or second choice.

A few spa basics are overlooked- no robes, no slippers, no typical spa etiquette on soft voices and gentle smiling receptionists. I had a few mishaps-- the receptionists couldn't find my appointment and then found it but quoted another time, which was undoubtedly different from what I had booked. After I completed my microdermabrasion the technician realized she never had me sign the waiver or alert me to any risks so she rushed me to sign it afterwards- a ridiculous unprofessional no-no. And my very legit corporate discount card was deemed "not real" by the receptionist, until I insisted and explained and she checked with two people and THEN everyone was clear.  Needless to say it makes you feel a bit cheap and a whole lot less pampered.

So go ahead and try it... but just keep in mind you are in the 'mom and pop' shop of skin care... go to the city when you want it done right.

I get laser hair removal done here with Michelle, and she's wonderful.  I feel very comfortable with her and she does a great job.  Currently they have a summer package going on where if you get a laser hair removal package (5 sessions) you get 30% off, and if you add a second area you get 40% off the second area.  I've had a total of six  sessions so far on my underarms, and I love the results!  It's so worth it to me.  There's practically no more hair.  I've only had four sessions on my legs, and I can tell I have a few more sessions to go.  If you need more than 5 sessions, it's half off after that.

It's a nice medical spa.  Everyone is very professional, and I've always been able to find parking in the lot.  The laser is a bit pricey, but my girlfriend highly recommended Michelle and I can see why.  She's great.  Michelle was not pushy whatsoever at my first consultation, and she is super nice.  Since I was a bit hesitant about the price, she was totaly cool about it, and even recommended that I sign up for their newsletter so I could find out when they have the 30% off special package.  I waited for the deal, and I couldn't be more satisfied!

They buff.  They polish.  They knead.  They moisturize.  They glamorize.

I absolutely LOVE Skin Spirit!  I found them a few years back when I was on the search for a spa that performed the Refinity Peel.  It was a specific peel I had regularly gotten in NYC and couldn't find anywhere locally.  While I would love to just hop on a plane to travel to my fave city, that method just wasn't conducive to my schedule or budget.  ECSTATIC was I when I found Skin Spirit!  They not only perform the Refinity Peel, but it was half the price than I received back in NYC.  AWESOME!

My aesthetician of choice and love is Christy.  She rocks!  When I first started going here, I was seeing Allison, who has since left.  :(  Allison recommended Christy, and she was right on!  Christy didn't skip a beat when analyzing my skin and making sure she gave just the right amount of ooomph with the peel.  I left, yet once again, glowing -- and without a touch of make-up no less.  That should speak volumes for all you ladies that knows what ones face can look like after a chemical peel.  I am hooked.

I attended the anti-aging seminar 1 1/2 weeks ago -- a thoroughly informative and fun event.  There were actually *live* sessions of a few of the star treatments Skin Spirit provides:  Botox, Active FX facial, Thermage, Endermologie, Dermaplaning and Restylane.  Let me go on the record saying that I have not yet tried any Botox or other filler, but after attending this evening of festivities, I can't say that I won't be dabbling in them anytime soon.  I got a chance to watch each and every session, ask the aesthetician questions and see the end results.  This is an experience that anyone interested in skin care should try to attend.

I'm now booked for my next Refinity and also RSVP'd for their upcoming Holiday Boutique.  How much more can a gal ask for:  shopping, cocktails, appetizers and skin beautifying -- all in one night!

    Flawless Skin Bliss!

The decor of this day spa/clinic/retail boutique is beautifully subdued.

They always have candles burning which perfumes the air with a warm spice aroma which relaxes the guests.

However, in my most recent trip in to purchase one of my favorite moisturizers, Epicurean Discovery After Bath in Kukui Nut/Coconut, I inquired about facial treatments they offered.  I asked the receptionist if she had ever had anything done and she replied with a blunt, "no."

    A word to the wise:
If the receptionist can't even recommend a service where she works that is really saying something about where she works.

I absolutely adore SkinSpirit, and in particular Cheryl who I've gone to a few times now.  I have tried a plethora of spas in the bay area and in all honesty, SkinSpirit is the very best one in terms of quality of work for the price, professionalism and convenience.

Because everyone working there has some sort of medical or esthetician type background, I felt comfortable since some other places hire random teenagers and people who clearly don't know what they're doing and leave me scarred and looking worse.

I have received the oxygen facial twice now and my skin has never looked better. The ambiance is relaxing and simple, no frills really, just great skin care.

Other reviewers claim that they felt sales pressure, but I did not have this experience. Cheryl gave me some samples of Skinceuticals products to use and the next time I came back, I let her know I wasn't going to buy anything because I was seriously  low on cash and she was perfectly ok with it. Gotta admit, it's kind of pricey but I'd rather pay a bit for quality than skimp and end up with a mysterious rash or no results at all.

    Definitely two thumbs up!! :)

I've been coming here for a few years now and love it.  Joe gives a great deep tissue massage - and remembers feedback from previous treatments.  Lynn, an RN,  is very professional, caring and goes above and beyond.  I've seen Christie and Cheryl for facials.  Both are very informative and they are well-trained estheticians.  They don't just slap some mask on your face and try to sell you products.  They really look at your skin and recommend the best treatments and products for your skin type.

The only product they pushed was sun screen - but they really didn't care if I purchased it there or elsewhere...just use it.  Pretty sound advise.    There are a lot of spas in the area, some with a bit more ambiance.  But Skin Spirit has the best staff!

I went to Skin Spirit based on the recommendation of a friend that I really trust - she's 52 but looks like she is in her early 30s. I will try anything she says works! :) I'm a sucker that way. Anyway... I yelped Skin Spirit only to find mixed reviews (some great, some bad).

Once I got to the salon, which is set up like a clinic... I understood.
First, it's not cheap. But they know what they are doing. It reminded me of people who go non-board certified plastic surgeons because they can get a better price on lipo....Yeah... uhm.. not the place I want to scrimp!

I had an appointment with Fawn based on my friend's recommendation. I filled out the paperwork and wrote "I have a lot of products at home I don't use...and not really into the hard sell thing."
Fawn was great. We had a consultation first and then because of her obvious knowledge, I had a facial. I told her what I was using and she told me I really didn't need to use all of the stuff I was using. :)
That's awesome... and not what I was expecting based on some of the other yelp reviewers...

The facial was great and she's my new go to person for that. While I was there, I decided to see if I could cut down on my errands and see if they do eyebrows... they do! Yeah!
I also decided to book an appointment with one of the nurses, Lynn to learn more about other services that they have.
So... I loved Lynn... she's a Botox magician is all I can say. She does speaking for the Botox company...and as someone in the industry... I know you have to know what you are doing in order to speak for the companies... she's top notch and I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. Lynn rocks.... and she makes me laugh every time I go in. Again.. no hard sell... and actually talked me out of things I don't need.

My two cents...Clip coupons, make your lattes at home for a couple of weeks...stop eating out so much.... whatever... but don't be cheap when it comes to plastic surgery, facials, Botox and the like...  you get what you pay for.

Update: 3/18... Lynn Bartels continues to ROCK! I have a confession.... I was one of those nasty girls that always pits out their shirts... yellow stains...nice... I could never wear white shirts. My girl, Lynn took care of that. She squirted a little Botox..here... a bit there... and seriously... I no longer sweat under my armpits. It's wonderful. I can wear ANYTHING! I've never had so much freedom with my fashion choices. It's changed my life. I just got back from Las Vegas... it was so damn hot in the conference room.... I was the only person that wasn't drenched from their armpits. Bless you, Lynn Bartels!!!! You are my hero.
The only downside is I am now addicted to it so I need to budget for it so that I can have it done every 8 months... so I eat more tuna from a can... so what? I DON'T SWEAT and I can WEAR WHITE! It's worth it!!!! :)

    ********* UPDATE ************

Please note that the esthetician I had was NOT Fawn but someone else who was a newbie. I was contacted by Skin Spirt and they were very concerned that I had a bad experience and asked to make it up to me. + 1 Star. I will update if I go back.

    I previously wrote:

The facility is amazing & the reception service is great.  So why the low score? Well...

I have bad skin and I've been getting facials for years (while I must admit - not recently) and experimented with lots of $$$ products over the years. Therefore, Im pretty well-qualified to review here.

I had Fawn and during my facial I asked her lots of questions but she really had no answers and just said "everyone's skin is different" to every question I asked. I felt like she just didn't have any advice to offer. She was nice and I feel like she did the job, but I feel like she was really unexperienced. Maybe I am wrong, but that was the impression I got.

I feel kinda shafted that I got the rookie esthetician so I don't think I'll go to Skin Spirit anytime soon. I'll try a few other places first.

So I went for the full facial and microdermabrasion.  I have to say the microderm was not that impressive in terms of how it felt, which was like a tiny vacuum on my face.
**update. There must be different kinds of microderm. I went back and  got a different kind, and voila, totally different. Definitely felt the difference but was a bit much for my sensitive skin.
ask about what kind you're getting.

Facial was great.  Esthetician (sp?) was great. Nice. Did her job of mentioning various products, but was not overly forceful that I commit to buying them.

My skin felt like a baby's bumbum after she did all these different things during the facial and of course, extractions.  So gross, but so necessary.

I would, and will go again, so fab.  Expensive. But fab. A note: book appt's with an Est. not an RN, it saves you $50 on treatments like facials.

the only reason I hold back one star is because of the icy young receptionists I've encountered. It's odd, because it's only over the phone, and never in person.  Sorry guys, as an ex service industry employee, that weighs heavy with me.

I want to update by saying that I have had responses to my review from Skin Spirit.  I do want to say that in retrospect, I probably should have gone back again for the problem under my eye, but since I was told it was not filler, I really did not think that the opinion would change.  Another reason is that since I was told it was not the filler under my eyes, I truly thought that was the case.  It was not until I went to another physician to talk about having surgery to address the issue that he mentioned that he really thought that it was filler in that area. He was not 100% positive that it was filler but I wanted to go ahead anyway to make sure.
I do appreciate that everyone at Skin Spirit reads the reviews.  It does show that they really care about their business.

For those of you that are happy, long-term, loyal patients - please take a moment to read my review.

For the past two years, I've been a satisfied patient that's frequented Skin Spirit on a regular basis.  So I never thought I'd write a negative review but my love affair ended badly and abruptly.  I'm still in shock by what happened to me - but more so it's the WAY I was treated  at this clinic that prompted me to write this review.

I went in for a routine/regular facial, just as I had been doing for nearly two years.  No changes made to the products used on my skin or to the procedures used.   After my facials I've always felt a little discomfort but it was always gone by the next morning.  However, this time when I went home and changed my shirt I noticed red marks on my chest, neck, jaw, cheeks, temples and forehead.   Again, I dismissed this as a normal part of the procedure and I didn't think it was anything to worry about.

That evening when my husband returned home he walked in the door and stopped dead in his tracks when he looked at me.   He was shocked.   So I took another look in the mirror and realized that the 'red marks' I'd seen from that morning were actually scratches - and they were everywhere!   Visualize long, sweeping scratches (ca. four inches long!) and a very distinct grid like pattern on my chest and neck.  I looked like I'd been in a cat fight.

So the next morning I called Skin Spirit to ask them for help.  I had no idea what to do and I was really hurting because of these scratches.  I saw one of their RNs and she determined that 'there may have been something on the equipment' that created the scratches.  So she sent me home with a thimble-like container of lotion to 'soothe the pain'.
After returning a few more times to see the RN, she sent me home with a tube of bleaching product to address the scars that had formed after the scratches healed.

At that point, I decided to visit my Dermatologist.  He was dumbfounded by what had happened to me.  He told me that Skin Spirit's Esthetician must have been 'asleep at the wheel' during my 90 minute session to have overlooked the scratches.   He could understand one or two scratches (mistakes can be made) but I had SCRATCHES ALL OVER and in his opinion that was unforgiveable and unprofessional.

Morale of the story:  I don't wish this experience on anyone that's happy using the services at Skin Spirit.  I was happy with their services for a long time too, and I never would have imagined something like this could happen.   But, be prepared if something bad happens to you.   Skin Spirit will not step up to the plate to make it right by you.  They will not assume accountability i.e., the Esthetician that did this to me is still practicing at their clinic today, and at no time did they even come close to saying that that they were sorry for their mistake.  In fact, the RN that saw me after the facial introduced herself to me twice in one week - she didn't remember me or my bad experience.

Bottomline:   This is the valley.  You have a plethora of choices for your skin care.  Invest your time, money and effort with a skin care provider that demonstrates professionalism, competence and genuine concern for you as a human being.

    Hi,
My wife and I had two wonderful facials a year ago. I forgot to write this review but I got a bit annoyed. Don't get me wrong - this is a good place, but I was annoyed and confused about the price. My wife booked two "Clarifying Facials" for us. She was recommended another facial for $150 that she accepted. I was never suggested another facial by Christy than originally booked. I paid for both of us and the total was $145 and $160 respectively. I didn't react immediately as I was unsure what the price was, but I think this discrepancy is a bit odd. Shouldn't it be $150 and $90 respectively given your list price on the website? At least, shouldn't we be
    informed otherwise?

(Prices have changed since I wrote this). I'd like to like this place, but it annoyed me that they never excused by mail, just left a message that I should call them.

    i love this place!!

i came in with my roomies for a girls day (evening after work), thanks to a groupon from a few months ago. i didn't really know what to expect since i'd never gotten a facial.

i was treated by Karen, who i highly highly recommend. she was happy to answer all my random questions and gave very thorough answers. she also understood asian skin well and explained how to take care of my skin. she's a big proponent of skincare without a lot of chemicals - i learned a lot about sunblock ingredients that day!

it was super relaxing - i didn't have to decide anything - she took one look at my skin and had suggestions (vitamin c facial). i crawled into the comfy bed and was super relaxed despite a tough day at the office. she also gave a shoulder massage that was AMAZING. I was up in napa and had a full body massage the weekend before, but this shoulder massage was WAY better. she found all my knots - even ones i didn't know existed! strong hands, the way I like it!!

afterward, she gave me some samples of vitamin c and a pigment regulator. neither of my roommates got samples during their treatments, and she was happy to give them samples and dispense advice too.

highly, highly recommended. i never really thought i'd get facials since my skin is non-problematic, but i'll consider splurging a few times a year just for the relaxing experience and great massage.

I called SkinSpirit to schedule a consulation for laser hair removal  last week.

When I reached there, they made me sit in their beautiful waiting area, and gave me 4 pages to fill. I filled them up and turned them to the girl at the desk.

Nobody offered me any H20 to drink but all the 3 "fair skinned" people who came after me were offered H20.

After about 15 min, the girl at the desk came up to me and told me that  the RN was busy with some other patient and if I was ok waiting for a few minutes. I said it was fine with me.

I sat there reading magazines for about 45 min. The girl showed up again after 45 min and said "I am sorry we will not be able to see you today". I argued why...they said u were 9 minutes late....!!!

I was like why cudnt u tell this to me in the first place...and y did u keep me waiting for over an hour if you were not going to see me? How much time does a laser hair removal consulation take(I have been to 3 before and I know it doesnt take more than 15-20 min).
The girl just apologised and said we can't make other customers wait for 10 min!

I have been to a lot of doctors, dentists, opthamologists, laser hair removal consulations before but nowhere have I been treated like this!!!

This place looks at the color of your skin and the brand of your purse before treating you!! Make sure u carry a Coach or a Gucci before u go for a treatment here...and dont go here if you are not "fair skinned" or "hip"!!

I am going to go with this other skin clinic in Palo Alto which costs 300$ more than this one..but I am not going to put up with this kind of racist shit!!!!

When I scheduled the appointment I was not told to come early or anything.

This is an outstanding medical spa in downtown Palo Alto.  Owned by Dr. Dean Vistnes and his former wife, Cara Fonteyne, RN and staffed by a great group of experienced nurses and aestheticians, Skin Spirit is the perfect marriage of clinical and sybaritic skincare and massage.   The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful and very private.  I highly recommend an "Accusage" treatment (acupuncture coupled with massage) by Shayna.  Cara and another nurse practioners  perform medical treatments such as IPL laser photofacials, Botox, Restylane, etc as well as conventional facials.

I first tried SkinSpirit with my mom last summer because I had two gift certificates, and I scheduled us both for 50 minute massages. I made the appointment over the phone, and they told me that I can just let them know which massage I wanted when I arrived in person. We ended up getting stuck in traffic down University that day and called them to let them know; they said we were close, it's fine. We arrived 5 minutes late and had to fill out the health forms which took a few more minutes, and then they told us that our massages would be cut short to 40 minutes because we were late. They also said that I couldn't get a hot stone massage because I didn't previously request it, but my therapist Joe was accomodating and allowed me to do a half swedish massage first as the stones were heated up, and then finish with the hot stone massage. The full-body massage was great. Joe worked on all the knots I had in my back, and then rolled the hot stones up and down my back which felt like heaven. I also loved his choice in music and according to him was the first person to recognize one of the tunes. He was nice and told me he spent some extra time on me so I ended up getting a 45 minute massage. When I was done, I met my mom in the lounge and found out that she did not have such a positive experience. Her therapist only worked on her back rather than full body and left the room without telling her she was done. My mom waited a bit for her therapist to return before she got up to look at her watch to find out that her time was up. But SkinSpirit still left a good first impression on me as the person who rang us up was very nice and gave us a discount for the confusion, prorating our massage and charging me for the swedish and not the hot stone. I forgot to bring my other gift certificate so I decided to come back again and treat myself to both a full hot stone massage (covered by the GC) and facial (out-of-pocket) for my birthday. I noticed that they had a lot of people working behind the counter which explains the miscommunication; some are also friendlier than others.

Now to my second and last visit here. As I pulled into the parking lot that day, I scratched the bumper of the empty car parked next to me.  A woman who was pulling out of the lot saw me and went inside to tell one of the workers at the spa, and they both came out and gave me the evil eye. They saw that I've turned off  my engine, wasn't planning any hit-and-run, and was heading into the spa so they went back inside the spa. I walked to the counter, and the two women kept looking at me but didn't say anything. I told the receptionist my name, gave her my i.d., said that I hit the car next to me, and asked if she knew who the owner was. Finally the other girl spoke, said no but told me to leave my contact info while Joe came out and said my massage is starting. I wanted to speak to the owner, but was escorted into my treatment  which I couldn't even relax to enjoy. I was shaken up and stressing out as this was the first time I've hit a car. I was tense the whole time and found the hot stones too hot. Then I went into my clarifying facial, and the esthetician tried to get me to consider other more expensive facials. I told her I chose the clarifying one because I had good skin and I wasn't interested in the medical treatments so she recommended that I at least pay $10 more for a special mask (with papaya if I'm remembering correctly). I asked if it smelled since I don't like the smell and she said no; the scent ended up being a bit strong for me. Then during the extractions, I had a hard time breathing with the vapor steam over my nose. At the end of the facial, my skin was itching and irritated. I ended up going into the bathroom to apply lotion to my face. I went to the counter and asked the new receptionist if anyone found the car owner, and I found out that the owner left already and was happy that I left my info. When I paid for the treatment, they saw on my id that it was my birthday and wished me happy birthday ... not exactly how I imagined spending my birthday ... Luckily, the car owner called me the next day and was very understanding, actually friendlier than the two people I met when I first entered the spa.

*EDIT 4/10/09*: I appreciate that the spa director Stacey contacted me the next day to offer me a free facial with a veteran aesthetician as a late birthday present . She said that I had a new aesthetician who is no longer with them. I told her that I didn't plan on returning to their spa, but she was nice enough to extend the offer to my mom who ended up loving her massage with Joe.

Went for laser hair removel treatment. They were very accomodating and were able to squeeze me in for a Friday afternoon appointment at the last minute (awesome; thanks!). I very much appreciated it. The staff was nice and helpful; Tina (I think) who preformed the procedure has done a good job. They advertise the new special laser machine and that is why I wanted to try them, but when we got to action they told me it is not suitable for this area because I am a small person (even though they advertised it for this area!).
So why only 2 starts? Because they have done as good of a job as the other place across the street or my doctor in Suunyvale, but they charge more than twice as much! I get the same good service for more than twice as much; no, thank you. Also, the whole promise of the special new machine with no paid turned out to be a commercial gimic. Didn't appreciate it.  If you just like to spend your money for no reason, go there.

This place is GREAT!  I started going here a couple years ago for massages and facials, and recently did laser hair removal.  The staff are  extremely friendly and knowledgable.  They never try to push services or products on you.  They make you feel totally comfortable and at ease with every treatment.  They also have really fun and informative events.  I would recommend this place to men and women of all ages!

Customer Service (from any kind of business establishment) that goes "above & beyond" deserves 5 stars as far as I'm concerned.  Skin Spirit is one of those types of businesses.  Great customer service is something I look for in any business where I spend money.  I will shop at Best Buy instead of Frys (which is cheaper) because of the customer service at Best Buy.  I will shop at Nordstrom instead of Macys because of the customer service.  And likewise, I will return to Skin Spirit versus any less expensive salon because of the customer service I received.
After writing my "average" review back in June, I was contacted by Stacey, the Director of Skin Spirit, to address the concerns I had from my last visits.  First of all, I was so surprised that anyone would contact me after I wrote a review.  That alone, was enough to gain another star.  Stacey invited me back to meet with one of their Doctors who is a Botox expert.

On August 19 I returned to SkinSpirit and this time my appt was with Dr. Bretz.  First of all, it doesn't hurt that Dr. Bretz is easy on the eyes...ha ha. Okay, enough of that.  Dr. Bretz was great!  He spent so much time with me.  I told him about my concerns of having Botox 3 times and not getting the results I expected.  He was very honest with me.  He told me that no matter how much Botox I get the crease down the middle of my forehead is not going to completely disappear - it's just too deep.  Well, I appreciated his honesty.  But what I appreciated more was the amount of time he spent answering all of my questions and explaining why my forehead is different than many womens', and because of a couple of different factors (including these huge muscles I have over my eyebrows) I would not be able to eliminate the crease completely with Botox.  He said I could try a combination of Botox & Perlane but even with that combination, it would take some time for me to see a completely smooth forehead.  He basically said "you need to decide how much that line on your head bothers you and if it's worth it to spend the money".  I decided to wait on the Perlane until I could do some research (since I had never heard of it until then) but I did get some more Botox that day.  I can say that I am very pleased with the results.  Now that I have the expectation that Botox alone will not completely remove my crease, I'm satisfied.  Even with just the Botox the crease is greatly reduced.  I don't look as angry as I usually do :-).
I wish that all businesses were this concerned with what their clients/customers thought of them!  I only wish that I had a chance to meet Stacey to thank her in person.  I will be back!

I have invested THOUSANDS of dollars on my face compared only to the THOUSANDS of dollars in tattoos and I love the staff at Skin Spirit....specifically Fawn and Lyn. My facials are religion to me and I am always specific in booking at least an hour and a half with Fawn. During this time Fawn cleans every single pore on my face. Okay maybe I exaggerate a tiny bit however I am certain she misses only two or three. She cleans, picks, masks, soothes and then tops it all off with a neck and shoulder massage that usually knocks me out when combined with the warm seat and fluffy blanket. I have had every single treatment that Fawn offers and she knows my skin so well that I trust her to simply do what is necessary. I have NEVER been disappointed. For my Botox and facial fillers no one else touches my face but Lyn Bartels. Lyn is a magician with the needle and is a straight shooter during consultations. No hard sell....if you don't need it, she wont do it. A little fill here a little lift there, subtlety a must, no problemo.

I have had Lymphatic massages with Jay (once again..knocked me out). Skin Spirit is quiet, clean and efficient. I feel that they know me and my peccadilloes and treat me as a valued client.

I love this place! I've been to MANY estheticans in the past and this place by far has most qualified ones. I think I've seen all of  them. My favorite one there would be Cheryl. She does a very good job with my troubled skin. She recommened me trying the Jane Marini line  which has helped my skin a lot. I love all there make up products as well.  Very relaxing atmosphere and everyone is very nice there.

went here awhile ago but i remember not having a really great experience. i got a facial and the whole time the girl was rushing on me. these people definitely like to sell you their products which i think is a total rip off.

if your thinking to go to a nicely decorated, relaxing spa - don't go here. it looks more like a doctors clinic.

This place is really nice, the atmosphere is very pleasant, and the people are friendly but I didn't have the best experience/results here.
I bought the package of 5 laser hair removal treatments for the upper lip for somewhere around 300-400 dollars. I originally chose SkinSpirit because they had the Vantage machine that sends the lasers deeper into the skin, which makes it effective for dark skin. I had my consultation with Annie and scheduled my first appointment with her but the morning of, they called me to say that Annie was sick and that I would be seeing Lisa instead. That was completely fine with me, until I came in and she used the other machine, which was for light-skinned patients and completely uneffective to me. Plus, she only did about 4 "zaps" which seemed strange to me, especially since in my other appointments I received many more "zaps" and attention to detail. So, I felt sort of ripped off by that first appointment.

My next appointment was with Annie and, although she is a sweetheart, it turned out that she didn't want to use the Vantage machine because she wasn't extremely comfortable on how to use it. I didn't see any results after the 1st two appointments.
After my third appointment, with Michelle G., who knew how to operate the Vantage machine, I saw awesome results and I was happy, except it made me feel disappointed that I hadn't gone with her for my first to times.

On my fourth appointment they informed me that the machine that worked for dark skin had BROKE and they were not planning to ever repair it =(

I don't know what to do because that was basically the reason that I chose Skin Spirit in the first place. The other machine is completely ineffective to me and actually made my hair thicker the last time I tried it. It just sucks that I already bought 5 treatments and only got about 1 effective treatment. I'll probably have to find another place to do my laser treatments, on the plus side they do good facials here, and Jessica is really nice.

I saw Annie for laser hair removal and Cheryl for a facial. Both of them have awesome personalities. Cheryl went over the area with the laser twice. However I do not think she "zapped" all of the hair follicles because when I got home I saw that there was still several live hairs on the area that were not "zapped". Cheryl has great massage technique but the only thing she should work on improving is "extracting" more pores because there were still quite a few clogged pores& blackheads left after I got back I noticed she just extracted a few but not all.  It's still a nice place to go but I just wish they would be a bit more thorough.

I went to Skin Spirit a few years ago for a consultation with Michelle Gonzales.  She spent a lot of time with me analyzing my skin type, type of damage and advised me on how to better protect my skin from the elements.  I got very busy and never went back for anything until 1 week ago.  I went in to see Michelle again after enduring the sudden death of a friend.  I felt I needed something to lift my spirits and my skin ;-)  Michelle was extremely caring and spent a great deal of time with me again and re-accessed my skin and issues I brought to her attention.  I thought I was going in for under-eye Restalyn but Michelle suggested IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Treatment.  She said it would brighten my whole face vs. just focus on the eye area.  I was really reluctant as I am uncertain about any type of cosmetic procedures and wanted to choose wisely and get something that would truly make a difference.  I went forward with it though.  Michelle was very knowledgeable, careful and professional with the procedure.  She did this with minimal discomfort and explained every step of the way.  She explained to me that it would take 7-10 days before I'd really see anything and the first couple of days I was nervous because all I saw was redness and I felt bloated.  Oh no! Well, today, day 7, I woke up and my skin is visibly brighter, the sun damage is significantly faded and I'm absolutely thrilled.  :-)  Michelle was very conscious of my fears and actually chose a procedure that would give me the most natural results. On top of everything else, Michelle is kind.  She's just a nice and very real person.

    8/11/07 Update
Had a 1.2 hour massage with Cassandra on Saturday at 4:30pm.    Studio wasn't very busy.  Called 3 days ahead.  Cassandra remembered what I liked from previous massages.  She did more deep tissue then swedish on my shoulders since she found so many knots.  She said I will be sore for 2 days but feel better afterwards, she was right.  I wanted to shower afterwards and she brought me a towels to shower in my massage room.  True from other reviewers that the receptionist is not friendly, sort of like, you are bothering her and don't expect customer service if you are spending $125 for a massage.  Still love the smell of the massage oil of coconuts.  MAsage is still a 4 star.
    -------------------------------------------------- --
Update: 4/28/07, went for a 1.2 minute massage with Cassandra at 4pm.  Called a week ahead of time.  Not very busy at that time on a Saturday even thought the lot seemed full.  The massage started a little too light for my taste then she put in more pressure.  Enjoyable.  They use oil, you smell like coconuts afterwards.
    --------
Update: 10/20, went for an 1.2 massage, had a gift cert for $100 and only had to pay $25 out of pocket.  It was a great experience, since I was there for a late appointment,  afterwards they let me use the shower and the bathroom to dry my hair and get ready for dinner that night.  You enter the lobby, they have you fill out health paperwork and given a hot tea then the therapist collects you.  I give the massage experience a 4 star.
    -----------------------
Update: 7/27, Skin Spirit called to cancel my August Brazilian Wax appointment, they will no longer be doing it at their spa.  But they did offer me laser hair removal at 3-5 sessions at $200-$350 for each session, I don't think so.
So have decided to used my gift certificate for a swedish massage instead, lets see if they cancel or no longer offer it before I have my massage appointment.  Will let you know how the massage goes.
I give the Brazilian wax experience a 1 star.
    ------------
Update: 7/18, have an appointment, 8 weeks away, will let you know how it goes!!!
    ---------
Seems difficult to obtain a Brazilian wax appointment.  I called 3 weeks before the date and couldn't book the dates and times I wanted, a Thursday at 5:30pm.  Was offered that Friday but I couldn't make it, they were booked on Wednesday and Tuesday, too.  One would think, with 4 waxers, they could accommodate an afterhours appointment in advance.  This happened last month also, only gave them 2 weeks notice, so will go to Thermae Spa in Menlo Park again http://www.yelp.com/bi....  Thankfully, the gift certificate I have is good for a year, 10 more months to try for another appointment!  I want to use my GC and try this place out.  They are polite and apologetic.

Manager Stacey contacted me after reading my review on Yelp. She offered me a consultation with another practioner to see if I should consider more laser treatments/injectables, and then after exchanging a few emails, she offered me a credit towards other services which was really generous. I have since been in for several massages (mostly lymphatic drainage) with Mercedes. She is fantastic. This last time, she did a grapeseed scrub on my back as well which was heaven. I am superimpressed with Stacey's wanting me to be happy/customer service ability and the treatments I have had so far.

Christy is quite good and well trained; I try and see her every six weeks.   I am finding that the "old school" estheticians with the amazing knowledge, skills and techniques are retiring.  Christy seems to be the best that I've found, recently.

I've had treatments with other SkinSpirit estheticians, but, never booked additional appointments with them.

I've gotten plenty of massages in my time, and my experience at skinspirit has by far been the best. I was pleasantly greeted by happy faces behind the counters and offered water or tea. The ambiance of the whole place is very relaxing and calming. I forgot my masseuses name, but she was quite young. She did an AMAZING job. Pressure was firm, but not to strong, and she focused on my problem areas. And I loooove the kuikui nut oil they use. It smells soooo good. Without a doubt the BEST massage I've ever had. I will definitely go back, and I would like to try their facials one day.

I started going to Skin Spirit  for a facial a year or s ago when I read a review here on Yelp for Jen. I have a standing appointment for a facial with her every 6 weeks now. She is very good and, much like a trusted hairdresser deals with your hair issues, once she begins to understand how your skin reacts to the seasons, climate and pollutants (and travel) she balances it to perfection. I had never considered this before...but I do recommend making three or four appointments with her...and see the excellent results.

I have had many facials in my day and they have all been awful...until I found SkinSpirit. Cheryl is absolutely amazing. I told her that I was allergic to certain products, I voiced my concerns of being terribly red after the extractions etc. She put me at ease. She is very professional and my face looked amazing. In addition to the facial, I started laser hair removal treatments. The gal that did them on me is also a nurse at Stanford. Needless to say I felt very comfortable. They are all amazing! Tell them Chez Murphy sent you!
