Just like the default rating states... "Meh. I've experienced better".
I got a mani/pedi from here last week as a walk-in. I've been needing a pedicure for a while and this place was close by so I gave it a try.
The price was decent (french tip mani/pedi $40) but the quality was so-so. The place is very small and not so clean. The lady that did my nails were gentle (+1 star for that) but my nails just came out A-OK.
I think there are better places with the same price range. I don't think I'll be coming back here again...

I recently took 4 of my relatives to the Nail Nook for a special treat.  I spent a total of $120 I believe for 1 french manicure, 2 regular manicures, and 2 french pedicures. Not bad if you ask me. My 2 aunts had complaints about their manicures, in that the probably could've gotten a better job had they done it themselves. My sister, who got a pedicure, felt rushed and didn't like hers at all.

I, on the other hand, had Julie work on me and I had a great experience. She took real good care of me, I felt pampered, and my toes...one week later...still look uber cute. I'd go back, but would probably request Julie just to make sure.

Skin Care & Nail Nook offers courteous service at reasonable prices.  I suggest the basic mani/pedi which is a lovely foot spa bath with a relaxing massage in places your hands and feet you never knew were there. Reviews are only one person's opinion and I cannot sway your opinion either way but what you see is what you get and I'm straight up.  Try a mani/pedi, you'll be glad you gave Skin Care & Nail Nook a try.

Expensive and crappy!

Although my manicurist/pedicurist was really nice, she was not thorough. She also refused to do stripes or polka dots on my nails, which are so simple to do and that I've gotten done at similar places. But thank goodness since she was very sloppy.

So I settled for a normal French manicure and told her I wanted normal sized tips. They came out huge!  Not at all in proportion to my dainty Asian fingernails. And there are just some things that are obviously unflattering, but she chose to ignore it hoping that I, too, would ignore it.

I did, sorta.

I felt bad asking her to redo my whole manicure because she told me hadn't eaten dinner yet. So inappropriate to tell a client, or maybe she was just trying to make conversation? I don't know, but it worked.  I did ask her to fix some minor problems, which she got a little annoyed by.

$45 down the drain for a shitty and ugly French manicure that started chipping a couple of hours later and shitty pedicure that only lasted a day!

I had to go the Great Nails in Great Mall to get my manicure redone (I had a wedding the next day).

FYI: I feel bad for Asian manicurist and pedicurist in general because its hard work and they don't make much money for scrubbing people's nasty ass feet, handling their toes, clipping their toenails, breathing in the dangerous fumes all day, etc etc. So I try to be as easygoing as possible.

But this place is just negligent.  She didn't even do a good job softening my heel, which i thought was one of the main points of a "spa" pedicure.

RIDICULOUS.

I went here last year with my girlfriend and we went because we got them to purchase the flared eye lashes.  Anyhow, I think her name was Nancy she kept gluing my top lashes to the bottom.  Then she would just cut my lashes apart.  Then her hands were very heavy.  As if she was resting them on my face.

My other lash girl that I went to I could barely feel her hands and it felt like she wasn't even touching my eyes when she glued on the lashes.

I decided to try NN because they were closer than my other lash girl.  I asked them to make my lashes fuller by adding more lashes and she  charged me more on top of the price for the whole set.  Then when I went back for a fill she ripped them off.  That shit hurt!  Anyway, I'd rather get new sets then get a fill.  But they were getting too pricey for flares to be put on and she took 2 hours to do.  Usually, the single eyelash extension takes more time to put on because it's a single lash being glued to your real lashes so that's understandable.  Flares should take less time and cost less.

BTW- The next day I got the worst case of pink eye I have ever got in both eyes.  My eyes were pink, pussy, had mucus coming out of the corners, and sharp pains like someone was squeezing my eyeballs.  I called them about my eyes and they swear they sterilize their stuff.  WHUTEVER!

I gave them a star for just being nice people but not the best place to get your eye lash extensions.

just steps from work, I've been going here for a long time...i've dabbled and tried some other places, but this is my go-to need a pedi and toe design maintenance action. I've gone to other nail techs, but I've stuck with Vivian the longest. She is sweet, gentle, and does great nail work. She gave me eyelash extensions. This is a long process and her attention to detail is extraordinary.  I wish they did eyelash perming and I'd do that too.

The Nail Nook is my local nail salon.  The women who work there, in particular Tina and now Connie (who came over from another salon where I used to get my nails done), are wonderful!  They are super attentive, remember my name every time I call for an appointment and talk to me the whole time I'm there.

In many salons, I feel that people have no interest in speaking to me, but not at the Nail Nook!  When you walk in, you're family.  Now, you do have to pay, but it's not much compared with other salons in the area... plus they do a great job, which means you leave happy.

My manicures never last because I am tough on my nails.  However, my pedicures last for weeks!  I highly recommend this salon.

PS- I have also had a facial with Tina here and get my eyebrows waxed at this salon.  Tina does an incredible facial and my eyebrows are always perfect for several weeks after getting them done!

I went here for the first time last year when my friend who was getting married took a few of us bridesmaids to get our toenails done, and the experience was fabulous. The place was new so it was really clean. The staff was also super friendly as well and loved chatting with you.

My feet were super dry from wearing flip flops all summer and the lady took notice of it and decided to exfoliate all the dead and dry skin off of the bottom of my feet! She also did a wonderful job painting my toenails, and it lasted for a little over a month! I remember the pricing being average, but it was worth it.

Nice place, good service. Just that after powdering my nails, aren't I supposed to wash them powders off BEFORE they apply the pink and white color? Duh! Oh well my nails turned out fine and are super duper PINK AND WHITE! OMG! It looks so healthy that you can't even tell I smoke! Hahahahaha good ish. Anyway, I will definitely come back to get my fills done and maybe come for a pedi when spring time comes around.

They did an ok job but it was totally over priced. Their nail polish selection was terrible. Example: I wanted light colored nail polish and the closest was this mauve color which i think they use in the morgue to make corpses look lifelike.

The staff was cordial, however, once I told them I was not a local resident they seemed very disinterested in continuing to treat me like a paying customer.

I went to this place based on the reviews here but am sorry to say I wasn't satisfied. I picked Tina for manicure and pedicure. She started with the pedicure and there was no massage given during the pedicure time. She just applied some oil and wiped off after a while.
I asked for a very simple design with 3 flowers for my toe-thumbs. She drew really big flowers that covered whole of the toe nails. She realized she didnt draw well so wiped them off and started over. Then she did small flowers on my Right thumb and large ones on my left thumb and asked me to get up for my manicure.
Just when the manicure was about to begin I told her about the different sized flowers on my toes. I think she wasnt very happy about that and completely rushed my manicure. Just cleaned my hands and put nail polish, thats it. In between the manicure, she asked me to wash my hands; the bathroom was 20 steps away and I had to walk barefoot in the bathroom, yikes. Then she wiped off my left toe and re-did the polish and design. While doing that, she was talking to the old owner lady in Vietnamese and was complaining (I know coz she used the words, design and patience). The two toe thumbs still DID NOT MATCH. But by this time I had lost all my patience and just wanted to get the hell out of there.

I WILL NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY...

Great place. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

it was a small place and they played some classical music. they carried OPI and 'Lincoln park after dark.'

i usually just get regular manicures and never get acrylics or gel because im in front of the computer all day and cant stand that tapping noise from others women with fake nails. I also live an active lifestyle so the nails would get in the way.

so im a simple customer. i want smooth squared off nails and id like a seamless polish job.  and my nail tech did all of that. perfect. she also spoke pretty good english. yay! they were very welcoming too.

I am sorry but this place does not even deserve 1 star .  My gel nails were all lifting up the day after I got it done.  I paid $22 for a fill & $5 tip. The lady name is Van.  She sits at the very last station toward the back.  I return the next day and wanted to soak them all off because I do not want to catch any fungus or infections.  The nails tech have the guts to say "what did you do?" and acted like she is doing me a favor by fixing my nails.  I told her I do not want her to touch my nails---god knows how she's gonna mess them up again!

Another nail tech filed my nails down (even though, I wanted to soak them off b/c I am horrified of nails fungus.)  She then put  this top coat on my nails at the end after she applied the gel.  I stopped her b/c the whole point of me getting the gel is that the gel shines on it own after drying it with UV lamb....what the heck is going on with this place?

I had my eyelash extensions done here a year ago. My coworker is a regular and she has awesome lashes. I don't know who did mine. My problem was my top lashes got glued to my bottom lashes and she just cut them. They grew back okay but I was pissed! Also, they weren't even! One eye's lashes was lower than the other. Maybe it wasn't that obvious but I'm a total perfectionist. I know one of my eyes is bigger than the other already... I'm going to try Michelle diQuisto this month.

I just got back from getting a spa pedicure and manicure done at The Nail Nook. I am so happy with the job Ann did! It does feel 'like home' and so comfortable. I really felt like falling asleep. She scrubbed the heck out of my feet, using a Dremel, rough pumice then softer pumice. (okay my feet weren't that bad....really!)

In the past I'd only had acrylic or gel nails done, never a manicure. Since I'm a fast typer, sometimes the nails get in the way so I didn't want to get them again. But at the same time, my skin would pull and bleed.  Ann told me that I had a lot of skin to clean up and she did! My nails look so nice now.

Plus, for a spa pedicure and manicure I paid the SAME price as a spa pedicure at Tip N Toe!

The best nail salon I have been to yet IN THE AREA!  So far, I have only had a pedicure there.  But, the place is very clean, and the staff is very friendly.

Many of the Asian nail salons that I have visited around the area are so NON-personal, and treat you like you don't exist at all.   Most are so rude, and talk loudly to one another in their own language.

This place is very friendly... very clean... and has a very nice ambiance.

The cost of service was slightly higher than some... $25 for a pedicure.  I have had pedicures for as low as $13.  But, the service here by far surpasses the others!  I will definitely go back again.

I deducted 1 star for the length of time of service.  It was a relatively "quick" pedicure, with a really "quick" foot and leg massage.  The scrubbing could have been longer also.  They could improve the amount of time spent on this portion of the pedicure  - that most people look forward to! :)

EDIT:  After only a week (maybe 10 days) - my French Tip pedicure is starting to flake off!  Normally, I can go for 3 weeks (or more) before this starts to happen.  Maybe it's a fluke?  Or, maybe their products or methods are not as good?  Not sure... but I edited my review from 4 star to a 3 star.

Nail Nook & Skin Care is TINY (I think there were a total of 3 pedicure chairs and 4 manicure stations in the front room), but right away I felt welcome and at home. The only customers in the store were two high school girls and myself, and then an older but energetic and cheerful woman came in who seemed to know everyone.

These ladies obviously made every effort to ensure their salon was cozy, inviting and as conducive to relaxation as possible, and it was obvious by the way the regulars were lounging around like it was someone's living room and everyone was talking to everyone else, as opposed to places that give off the assembly-line vibe because of the lack of human interaction - the nail techs don't talk to anyone but each other and everyone's just there to "get something done" - you know?

The nail techs wore matching white coats with green name tags, we weren't inundated with fumes because there were two ceiling fans spinning overhead, and there were two separate racks of nail polish bottles (probably one for manicures and the other for pedicures), each with a huge selection of OPI polishes (including my staples... Samoan Sand and Lincoln Park After Dark... eeeeeee!).

My manicure wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but Nancy, my nail tech, gave me an extremely thorough pedicure - she even used some sort of power tool to get rid of my calluses, and my feet feel as soft as a baby's ass - I don't know how she did it, but she did a great job.

And then on a whim, I decided to get eyelash extensions (they used the Novalash brand here), which took approximately an hour and 15 minutes. Poor Nancy. I am a fidgeter by nature, and having tape under my lower lashes didn't help things one bit - but I have to give her credit for doing as good a job as she managed to pull off in spite of all my fidgeting, squirming, and overall brattiness.

Manicure + pedicure + eyelash extension = $155 total, I believe... not bad.

I have to go back in a week to touch up my lashes and probably put some more on, but I think i'll be coming to this place more often. It's thorough, friendly, accommodating... everything I was hoping to find closer to where I actually live, but at least it's only five minutes from where I work.

I came here to get an eyelash extension touch up and walked out SOOO unhappy.  Minh was very nice but took about 45 minutes and only put on 9 lashes total.  4 on one eye, 5 on the other.  She insisted that was all that could be applied, which I found that extremely hard to believe.  To make matters worse, the next day I realized that a chunk of my lower lashes were gone!  My upper lashes had gotten glued to the lower ones during the treatment and she had decided to just cut them.  Nevermind the use of a glue remover or something.  Absolutely awful.

I came here after a recommendation from a friend for eyelash extensions.  Minh took care of me and was super professional.  The back room was very clean and soothing.  She did her job well, but could not get my lashes on the right eye to go straight.  Naturally, my eyelashes crisscross.  So when the extentions are put on, they start crisscrossing. but overall, the price and service i got was amazing.

This is probably the cleanest asian nail place I've been to.  The women there are all very friendly and make an effort to speak to each other in english instead of talking smack in Vietnamese.  I usually don't tell people that I can understand Vietnamese just so I can hear what kind of crap they have to say.  Surprisingly, no smack talk at all.  Not just about me but none whatsoever.  What a nice change.  They offer you drinks, give a pretty thorough leg and hand massage with the mani/pedi, and are just pleasant to chat with.  While I was there it looked like many of the other patrons were regular customers and were treated like family.  I definitely plan on going to this place regularly.

The only con is that I wished they had a bigger selection of lighter shades.  Like more neutral/natural colored polish from Essie or OPI.

I have been coming here for over 6 months now and will not go anywhere else.

You can get mani/pedi done for $35 and they last for a longgggggg time.
That is extremely important for a mother of 2 under 3 years old. I do not have much time to run to the nail salon. My mani have lasted for about 2 weeks and my pedi 3 weeks with minimal chipping. Van does a very good job and they use quality products here.

I have also gotten addicted to their eyelash extension services. I almost loath to mention it but they are awesome. The prices here are the best I have found so far and I have been searching for a long time for a place that is close to me with reasonable prices. The full set costs $100 and it costs $30 thereafter for maintenance.

The technicians are not only friendly, they are also very good at what they do.

UPDATE!
The longest my Pedi lasted is 6 weeks! That is a testament to the quality of products and skills employed at this small but comfortable joint!

They have raised the prices of their eyelash extensions but still one of the cheapest around. $150 for the full set and $50 for refills. I just love the fact that they are soooooo close to me.

I give this really a 3.5. For small time Milpitas I can see why people would go here. However, being a certified yuppie my expectations for nail spots are a tad more  umm... high maintenance -hey I'm being honest. Not much of a selection at all.  I thought I went to a massage parlor because I was addressed by "honey" at least a dozen times like I was ready for a hand job. All in all -it's okay.... I'd try a few other spots in the area before making this a regular manipedi one for me.

The employees at the Nail Nook are really nice.  I had a pedicure done there last week.  The lady that did the pedicure for me was appreciative for my business and was accommodating also.  However, I didn't like the French tip done on my toes.  The French tip wasn't done cleanly, but at least I had a good experience with the customer service.  I'm not sure if I would come back, because the store is small and the prices are a little high.

It's great to be Vietnamese at a nail salon, because they can never talk crap about you....but you understand all the crap they talk about other people.  :)

This place is great...it's clean and all the women are friendly.  They LOVE to talk!!!  Did you know that they are all related?  They are all either sisters or sister-in-laws.  That's a big Vietnames family.

I've had my nails done here a few times and my nails always look good afterwards.  It's the maintanance part that i have a problem with.  I've even had my first Brazilian here...and it didn't even hurt too much. :)

I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because I like to to these places to relax, but with all the gossip all around, I have a hard time doing it.  Plus, since they found out I was a dentist, I've learned everyone's dental history.  It gets tiresome.

But, the women are really nice...and the don't talk too much crap about everyone else.  :)

Yes, I agree with Tuuyen. I heart this place too! Lisa and the other ladies are so friendly and it's so clean!
To give you an idea of the clientele dedication... the lady next to me had been seeing one of the ladies here for 16 YEARS!
It's the only place I know of in the South Bay that does eyelash extensions too! and just 1/2 mile from home!!
I got a mani/pedi that was great and am coming back next week for a facial (I hear they are really good for your skin!).
Oh, and I am sending my mom here too. : )

Based upon the prior reviews, I decided to stop by for a quick eyebrow wax just to check it out.

I dropped by around 10:30 am on a Saturday and already there were people in there getting mani's / pedi's. It's very clean, probably the cleanest Asian nail place I've been to. The ladies are really nice, and Vivian did my eyebrow wax even though I didn't have an appointment and was a walk in.

Like the others say, this isn't a place to relax. The walls in the tiny "treatment" rooms are really super thin, so you can hear everything in the main portion of the salon, and vice versa. It can get pretty noisy.

But the service was awesome. Vivian must have spent forever on my eyebrows... was very meticulous, and I loved how she gave me a mirror prior to starting and just asked me exactly what I wanted and made sure to tell me and show me where she would be waxing and plucking. Cool.

Second, the treatment bed is heated, so it was nice to come out of the rain and lay down on a clean, comfortable, warm treatment bed.

Honestly, that was the best eyebrow wax I've had. It was $15, and I gave a $5 tip because Vivian really took great care with everything and I hadn't waxed in like, a month and  a half, so she earned every single penny of that.

She kept trying to get me to get other services done -- saying I really needed a facial and that there was a 10% off, and to always ask for her. I really didn't mind that. I thought it was cool that she was trying to personalize the service and everything.

She said facials were about $65, so I'm sure I'll stop by one weekend and get one. I'll definitely try out their nail service first though.

I had my french tip gels done here the day before my wedding.  I was very satisfied.  The staff is nice.  They offered all of us bagels with cream cheese.  I would've given them 4 stars, if not for one thing - well, actually 2.  The first is that they're kinda expensive.  The second is my massage chair turned off because it was done, and I wanted to turn it back on.  I was looking for the remote control cuz I couldn't find it, so I asked one of the ladies that works there, and she said "Oh, only one time.  The manager says only one time massage per customer."  How cheap!  Are they trying to save on electricity or something?

I've gone to Nail Nook three time the past few months...each time, I've had different people work on my nails since I just walk in. After today's experience, what was once a 3 1/2 star place, I would give it a 2 1/2 instead.

Like many have said, its not a big place, and fairly clean.  The ladies there are nice enough i suppose.  The prices aren't cheap, but not outrageous either.

First time was Vivian, and she did a decent job with manicure / pedicure, half leg wax and underarm wax. She was meticulous
with the waxing, and the manicure / pedicure was pretty decent. She did suggest a longer  foot massage for extra bucks, but i passed on that. I was fairly satisfied with it.  I left with a feeling of coming back another day.

Second time, i forget who had done my manicure and pedicure, she sits in the second seat as you walk in the door.  i would probably request her if i go back.

However, after today's experience, it may be a while since I go back again. I went again for a manicure / pedicure.  Minh did my nails and I felt that the pedicure was decent, but the whole massage and scrubbing was very short.  The water was cool and not warm at all. I bought my own polish with me, and she suggested to add "flower" decor on my toes...i relented and said yes.  Is it worth the extra $5?  Um...I'll let you know in a week after I see how long it lasts.  Then I had my manicure done...I wanted french polish on my natural nails....that too cost an extra $5.  During the whole "cleasing de-cuticle part"  she went a little zealous and I started bleeding...ouch!  Then she commented that "my skin was too thin" even tho she was being careful.  She quickly poured some alcohol on it and ran to get the second skin bottle. I mentioned to her i wanted my nails to have a squarish / oval touch, but it all came out too square for my taste. I also asked that I wanted a thinner white tip, but she said if i wanted that I should have requested my nails to be filed shorter in the first place.   Then there was a total rush job with the top coat, and therefore i left with bubbles on my nails.

I'm not sure if I will go back again after today's experience.  I had thought I had found a nearby nail place that was fairly clean and non-fumey. However, with the sporadic service and quality of care I may have to think twice the next time I go.

very small but very clean!

this place was surprisingly small. there were about 4 nail stations and 2 pedicure chairs. my friend and i decided to drop in and get manicures before having lunch together. i like how they clean their instruments right in front of you. all the ladies were very friendly and i wasn't just talking to the lady who was doing my nails but the other ladies to my sides as well, it was like a casual party!

this is a really good place for a quick inexpensive manicure!

My mother-in-law has been going here for probably 15 years plus.  I have been going since I was in high school on and off for special events.  Even though I do not come in very often they always remember me and it feels great to walk into a place where people know you and know what you like done.  I hate to have my feet touched but for some reason when Vivien has given me a pedicure it feels great!  She is very gentle but can be firm if you want.  I took my friend and her six year old daughter in this weekend for a girls day out and our first stop was Nail Nook.  All of the ladies were great and we felt right at home.  Alexah got her first pedicure and manicure and the ladies really spoiled her and did a cute flower design on all 10 toes and all 10 fingers.  She could not stop talking about it all day long.  My friend is diabetic and her feet are always hurting her and she needs special attention because she is diabetic.  Vivien was very careful with her and they even showed us how to massage the feet for different ailments.

The ladies there go to great lengths to make sure that you are relaxed and do not have to worry about getting any fungus.  They thoroughly clean after each pedicure  and treatment to ensure that they have no problems.  They have never had any issues with fungus in this salon and they take great pride in that.  They play relaxing music, they have an air purifier and beautiful orchids to look at while getting your treatments.

Pedicure was pretty basic. Minh did a great job.

The half leg wax was only ok. I prefer places that also do your knees in the half leg.  I probably should have said something, but didn't think about it until later.

Facial was not really worth it. I mean, it's a lot less expensive than at many day spas, but I am just not sure if she really did anything. She definitely didn't really extract too much (but for me, that's partly the reason to get the facial!) and the massage part of it was just ok at best.

I would def come back for a pedicure and bring all my girlfriends with me, but I'll skip everything else.

Went here for the first time and thought it wasn't too bad.  I had a manicure, pedicure, facial, upper body massage, foot massage & brow shaping all for 115.00.  Where on earth do u get all that for that cheap?  The place is brand new and very clean . The ladies are all very friendly and all love to talk.  Whats really nice is Vivian removed my fingernail polish and then sent me to the room so I could get my facial 1st.  After that, I had my massage and then she did my toes and fingernails while i'm still laid down. That was nice because I've never had my nails done laying down before.  After the whole thing was over after about 2 hours, the ladies bought me and my girlfriends starbucks . How sweet!  I have been to other beauty spas and the whole idea is to go and be relaxed and not have to talk so much.  4 stars for the cleanliness and friendliness. But 1 star for a relaxed environment.  The ladies are loud, and while i was in my room getting the facial, the lady left the door open and kept going in and out like 9 times!!! it was a pocket door too, so it kept getting stuck. that was very annoying. Plus she kept talking to me while i was trying to relax during my facial.  During the extraction, she got some whiteheads and made me open my eyes to look at them after i said i didn't want to.  Not only that, she got a phone call during my facial and actually left to go get it! Big no no. I would probably come back for my manicures and pedicures. But i want to be more relaxed for my massages and facials.

Like others, I have been going to the Nail Nook for years.   They are always friendly and accomodating.   While the shop is small, they treat you like you were at some big expensive salon.   And, while other salons deal with cleaniless problems, I have NEVER had a problem, nor heard of a problem with this shop.   They offer all kinds of services, including a great parafin treatment that is "one use only", so no worries about who had their hads or feet in the parafin last.  You get your own!  Don't hesitate, this is a wonderful shop.

This place is great! I have been getting eyelash extensions for a few months and have not been happy, I've been checking out a lot of different places. I came to Nail Nook after hearing about them on a website. I am soooooo happy with the results!!! Mihn did a great job! They are all very friendly and can speak english, which I find a major plus! They made sure  I was comfortable and didn't rush.
