Review from Mar E.
Los Angeles, CA
Out of all the Museums in Skagway. This is the best.
It not only has a large collection of Klondike era pieces. Including the Deringer that Soapy Smith carried in pocket when he was shot. It also has Native American artifacts, along with other historical eras of the Skagway / Yukon relations.
It is a highlight of the town, not to be missed. -
Review from megan w.

The town of Skagway itself is kind of a museum, since the National Park Service moved in in the 70's to babysit the restoration of the gold rush buildings. But the City of Skagway Museum is located a few blocks out of the tourist mayhem, in an old women's college building that's been modernized quite a bit. It's a classy little place that focuses more on the interior minutiae of life in turn-of-the-century Alaska, and they have some lovely display cases of clothing and housewares of the period, as well as documents from the early days, and First Nation tools, art and some taxidermy. It was well worth the $2.00 admission ($1.00 for students), since I got in a good hour of nerding out to real artifacts that weren't contrived by the tourism industry.

Review from Alden G.
Very nicely laid out, informative and an antidote to touristy gift shops. Worth a visit, definitely.
