I have a facial with Marla.  Although her facial technique is not great for a facial but it is still relaxing as a massage.  The lady at the check in is just ok and there is nobody to clean up the changing room and or serve you to suppose "bar" to server water/wine etc, I dont even know if they have people wash the glass.  The changing room is small too.  In general, very unorganized. I went there for the spa week special, so $50 is not bad, but I will not go back if i have to pay full price.

I've been here for two bikini waxes and a massage and am not going back any time soon. The first time I went was for a bikini wax and I was new in town so I wanted to try out a nicer place. The woman was rude and left me totally uncovered while she went out to take a call and didn't close the door! When I checked out the wax, most of the hairs had been broken and weren't even pulled out by the root.

I called later to complain about  my experience.  The manager was nice and sent me two gift certificates - one for a 30 min facial and one for another bikini wax.

I went in for another bikini wax and a 30 min massage. The wax was much better but the massage wasn't soothing at all. The room was really cold and the whole vibe was pretty sterile and not cosy at all.

I never went back to use the facial gift certificate.

I agree with the first few reviews. This place has gone downhill. It's too cluttered in the entrance and you don't get the "spa" feeling or sense to relax. It is too loud and the waiting room wasn't as inviting. I just didn't like the clutter and the loudness. The staff was always preoccupied and had to finish their conversation amongst themselves before attending to the customer (typical of california places here anyways). Regardless, I've given this place so many chances but don't go here anymore. Too bad bc the building itself is so nice and the location is great too.

I love this place! This is a spa that knows how to take care of its guests. The therapists are very well trained and knowledgeable. They really care about their guests. They also have a night each month for cancer patients!! The decor is so beautiful I really feel like I have escaped. It could be It Italy or the south of France. Bobbi does great facials, Susan and Tina are incredible manicurists and every massage therapist I have tried is excellent! I have also been there with friends and we all had a great time.

When I go to a spa I want to relax. Unfortunately that is impossible to do at SK because it's so freaking loud. It doesn't matter if I'm getting a facial or a massage, I can ALWAYS hear people outside of the room talking and it takes away from the entire experience. There's nothing special about SK, even siiting at the little bar drinking tea or the fruity water is not relaxing, there's a very prominent "rushed" energy in the building that does not calm my frazzled nerves. I only go here when people give me gift certifiates and I'm hoping I don't receive any more of them in the future. That's how bad it is.  :(

i had a $200 gift card from here burning a big 'ol hole, and so i decided to use it towards brow waxes.

this place is a disaster. yeah yeah. pretty building. blah blah blah. nice boy working the front (he really earns the two stars.)

the "relaxation room," where you wait for your, um, person (?) is cold, no music, no water with cucumbers or lemons (don't most spas have that? i don't know...?), nothing. like a doctor's waiting room.

i've had 4 different cosmeticians, and all they do during the procedure is try to up sell: a brow tint, a lip wax, product, product, product, a facial. shut up already and wax my damn brows!

i also felt like i needed to "look the part" in order to get any attention, and i think that sucks. can't a kensington gal in her workout clothes get any respect?

it's just not for me, i suppose. good thing the card's all used up. back to becky at diesel : )

I recently went to have an ALA procedure done to remove fine lines and light spots on my face.  I found the staff to be very thoughtful and attentive.  The person I had was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting products that I wanted to purchase.

I love the decorations and the warm feeling in the spa.  I hope to try other services next time!

The building is gorgeous.  It is two floors, with the hair/nail/make-up salon on the ground floor and the spa services on the top floor.  The waiting area is upstairs with a skylight and windows, making the whole area sunny.  They have a juice bar in the waiting area and seem to be very proud of their cucumber water.  I would have given this place 5 stars, but since management changed they seem to have lost touch with the reason for opening: to help people.

They used to have a free day once a month for cancer survivors/patients, and they very well still could, but I'm not sure.

It wasn't that great at all.....sure the building is aesthetically pretty, especially  in the entrances, but I expectected more & was disappointed. The lunch area is soo small & cramped with tables, that it's uncomfortable, especially if someone else is sitting at the other table, and as if that's not disappointing..it also includes a view of the alley, parking lot & a building.
Anyway, since it appeared to me that most of their clients were pertentious & superficial people, which is a reflection of their own service & attitiude, This is not a place I want to be a part of & give my money to.  But, If your all about status & don't care about how much it cost you, then this is the right place for you.  I personally rather walk around all day with Starbuks cup. ..it's cheaper, and more people will see.

This is one of the most beautiful spas I have ever been to. The whole building has such an amazing design and they really pay attention to detail and go out of their way so that you feel relaxed and enjoy your services. The locker room is super nice with granite and marble floors and counter tops and lots of miniature beauty products. They also have a little bar upstairs where they have spa water, tea, cookies, etc. set out for guests and a little outside patio which would be perfect if you were there with a few friends.

I've had a massage and a facial there which were both wonderful and relaxing. A nice touch during the facial were special heated booties for your feet and gloves for your hands. I've also been there for a reflexology pedicure, which although nice, was totally overpriced (about $85) - I would never have gotten it if I hadn't had a gift certificate. While their prices are fairly high overall, I think that the whole experience here is worth the money if you are going to splurge on a special treat for yourself. Definitely one of the better spas in the San Diego/La Jolla area.

This is a great place if you truly like pampering yourself with the girlie things such as spa, masages, facials once in awhile. The buidling is 2 stories high, there is a little breakfast type nook where they serve you drinks while you are waiting in their robes & slippers.
I've been there twice. First time was b/c of a gift certificate, loved the facial & the massage. Second visit I went only for a therapeutic massage for 1 hour long instead b/c I noticed that the back problems I get from work were much helpful in relieving the knots & overall putting me in such a relaxed & cheerful mood (my bf noticed right away).
After the treatment, their bathrooms are great if you want to use their steam showers. From having that 1 hour massage, I noticed that I no longer had the lower back muscle problem that I usually get when I drive awhile for a couple of hours on the road. So now I am a firm believer in massages as a form of therapy for giving my back muscles some relaxation from the daily stress.
I also have received some facials there & I do notice that my skin over the several month from doing different facials has improved. It's great to know it's probably helping & pampering my face b/c I get compliments about my skin each time I buy cosmetics for my face.
Hoping that I can save up so that I can at make it a routine to go at least every 2-3 months.
There is only a few parking spots, so make sure to go there early enough otherwise may need to park along the road.
