I actually like this place. It's a good mix between rollercoasters, animals, and events (in my case, Fright Fest for Halloween). Yeah, it's expensive but what theme park isn't?
Fright Fest is interesting because they have the haunted house, more like tent, that you can walk through. Or if you go through this particular zombie area, you can anticipate masked movie-murderers throwing their realistic-sounding chainsaws at you. Seriously, I thought it was real for a split second. However, I did witness a zombie get mad... like seriously mad at a young kid and he had to report it to one of the staff. I think maybe the kid got too scared and physically assaulted zombie man. Sheesh.
The lines can get pretty long for rides but you can get Flash Passes which start at $27.99 per person. OUCH. They should do the Disneyland process where you go around getting passes from the individual rides then going back at your designated time.
As for the shows, I went to the tiger show, the elephant show, and the seal show. For some reason, they really cheese up the shows for Halloween. The seal show was the worst and it totally dragged on and on with this bad Austin Powers impersonator. The elephant show is the best especially when it poos and pees randomly and they have to clean it up. The tigers are not bad because they throw raw meat into the water for them to eat.
As for food, we didn't eat here except for the nachos. We saw a man walk by with a glorious mound of nachos and toppings so for the rest of the day, that's what we looked for. The only place we were able to find something close was at a crepe shop that served nacho chips, topped with cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos. Small and tasty but not quite what we were looking for.
Depending on the time you go, parking is a bit far but there are shuttles readily available. Parking is also an additional cost but I highly recommend searching online for coupon codes for tickets + parking. Lockers cost around $10 and remember, you CANNOT BRING ANY ITEMS (purses, backpacks, etc.) to any of the rides with you which means you also cannot leave it on the side as you go on the ride. Apparently they've had a really bad theft problem and had to implement $1 lockers next to each ride where you must check your belongings in. Money guzzler.

Came here for some birthday debautory, and everybody had a blast! We were crackheads looking for an adrenaline rush at every twist and turn.
The best part about this place is the short lines. The food sucks, the caged up animals make me sad, but the coasters/rides are decent enough to purchase a season pass for next year.
Tony Hawk Ride - This ride got me so sick I almost passed out.
Medusa - Short enough line to make this a decent coaster.
Kong - Worst coaster. I was getting knocked around like Robin Givens during her marriage to Tyson.
Velocity - Best ride ever. 0-60 in less than 6 seconds is a pure rush. I screamed the whole time during this ride.
Shark Ride - Carnival ride at it's finest.

I feel bad for this theme park and its parent organization.
Turns out Six Flags filed for Chapter 11 earlier this summer
http://online.wsj.com/...
Which explains the following
- $4 bottled water being sold for half price after you exit the park
- 2009 season pass holders (who paid upwards of $220++ for 2 adults 1 child plus parking) can upgrade to 2010 season pass holder for only $20 a pop.
I dunno about you, but unless the company doesn't get owned by the lenders, the water is a pretty good A$N bargain for theme park water between the two choices.

This place is FUN. Very FUN!
Jeff requested that his birthday celebration be spent at Six Flags. I teased that he's like a little kid but secretly was very excited about his choice. We spent about 9 hours at the park and some of the (many) highlights included:
- GREAT roller coasters. The lines were anywhere from 10 - 45 minutes for the roller coasters which is not bad and I found the rides more fun than the ones at Great America.
- Butterfly greenhouse: we walked through and saw many beautiful butterflies of all sizes.
- The elephants: I could have watched them for hours as they ate, sprayed themselves with water, etc
- The kettle corn: my medium-sized bag was about 3 feet tall, less than $4, and SO delicious!
- The tiger show: while brief, it was very cool to see the tigers swim and perform.
- The games: kind of a waste of money and the only prize we won was very small but the games were a lot of fun.
- The refillable soda: we probably drank about 4 gallons of soda with our huge refillable cup that we could use all day all over the park...
- Photos with the dressed up characters: so cheesy but definitely made me feel like a kid again!
The park is also clean (especially compared to Great America!) and well laid-out. I love that Six Flags features both tons of rides and so many animals. We are definitely planning to try to organize a big group for our next Six Flags trip. Purchase your tickets online to save money too!

I will never go here again.
They could learn quite a bit from Disney.
The gangs strutting around this ghetto are like flies.
Skankville, and that's putting it mildly.

This place is NOT FUN. NOT FUN!
It is overpriced and stinky.
That one coaster, ROAR, or whatever it is called. Smells like hardcore B.O.

Visited this past weekend for an employee picnic. Really like the shows and rides. The dolphin show was great. One of the dolphins in the other pool (not in the show) was 50 years old!
Decent selection of rides for younger (shorter) kids.
The food was pretty expensive, but expected. Some bargains can be had in souvenirs for the kids.
A great place to go. Get a season pass, Its worth it. Great animal shows, no lines on weekdays
I came here with ten of my friends for my birthday and overall I was pleased. We were mainly coming for the rides and nothing else.
We did the online ticket for $29.99, which I think was a fair price.
I have to say, up front, that the transportation options are abysmal. Basically you have to drive or you can't come. There is a package that supposedly includes a ferry/ bus deal from the city, but the phone numbers provided to order the tickets are broken (one defaults to voicemail, the other just makes a beeping sound). Six Flags lazily posted a link to the Ferry Co.'s website on theirs, but there is no ordering info! Six Flags: please include better transportation options for San Franciscans.
Anyhow, once we got there, things went pretty smoothly. Like I mentioned before, we really just came for the rides, and they were cool. This is more of a family place than an 'thrill ride' place, and there were only like like 4-5 proper thrill rides, they were fun. I especially liked the Medusa and the wooden one; "ROAR."
One of the rides, the V2, broke down literally the ride before we were supposed to get on. Apparently it breaks often, but we were luckier than the riders in Great America who got stranded on a roller coaster the next day, cause we got to ride it later after it got fixed. None of the lines were long.
The condition of the animals was alarming. I'm no expert on proper animal care, but many of them looked like they were dying. The dolphins definitely looked like they were suffering in the tiny pool. When I asked the "expert" there, he said they were just sleeping, but they weren't sleeping- I could tell. Then he admitted that they spend their ENTIRE LIVES in the very tiny pool they were "swimming" in. It was cruel. I hope that some animal rights people come and free the dolphins, or put them out of their misery. The dolphin "announcer" guy that talked into a microphone echoed the dolphin's sentiment. He was extremely depressed, he spoke in a morose and desperate voice. His words were jumbled and slurred. I think he might have been on quaaludes.
Anyhow, the penguins didn't look any happier. It was 95 degrees in Vallejo, and by the end of the day, the penguins were trying to hide under this rocky overhang, with their backs to the sun. They looked like they were in severe distress. The "zoologist" there said it was OK because the penguins were "from Africa." Like that makes it alright to intentionally hurt them. At least put some more places where they can hide from the sun. One of the penguins was tipped over and I'm not sure if it was still alive.
So we skipped the orca show because it would have been too distressing. The orcas probably would have been swimming in Gateorade or something.
On to the food. The food was pretty awful. I got nauseous after eating the fried chicken strips and going on the spinner ride, which, I admit, was my fault. But all they really had was super shitty fried food that would be served in an elementary school cafeteria in the 80s. Everyone was walking around with these huge $13 orange soda bottles, but they seemed excessive to me. If you order anything, order the tri-tip.
There was a lot of clubby music playing everywhere, which seemed a bit odd for a family place, but it was OK. There were some drinking fountains here and there, which was nice, and there were some really creepy mascot-type characters running around and dancing. One of them HAD to be some weird joke: a physically disabled dolphin. I don't know what that was supposed to symbolize. Anyhow the mascot characters looked more like "furries" than children's characters. I wouldn't let me kids anywhere near them!!
So overall, fun birthday. Thanks Six Flags!!

Saturday afternoon my husband and I took the kids to Six Flag's Discovery Kingdom. My friend sent me a link to take advantage of the $15 Twitter tickets. Score! :)
We arrive at 1:30 and there was MAJOR traffic due to people waiting to get into the parking lot at the park. We decided to park in the county fair parking lot which was cheaper $6 and not a long wait.
The park itself is pretty small but kid friendly. Lots of kiddie rides and play areas. The lines for the rides are not as long as they are at Great America. There are animals and lots of characters walking around. Papa John's pizza was REALLY good but of course expensive.
The kids had fun and that's all that really matters. We would definitely take the kids back if the $15 Twitter ticket deal rolls around again. For full price it is not worth the drive.

This place is great ,when there isn't a lot of people.Being Labor day weekend, this place was VERY packed. The lines were very long everywhere ( rides, restrooms and food courts) Customer service was great, they helped us.. =)
Ben & Jerry's ice cream is always yummy, but the chick that works there gave me a broken waffle cone... whats up with that ???... and my cone was leaking a lot..(not cool)..$9.00 ice cream cone that gets you messy..yum,,right,, I don't think so..
Parking sucks period..both sides ( fairgrounds and six flags property) I'm not even going to waste my time typing why is sucks,,,
Souvenir cups are only good for the year its purchased on,,,remember that k, don't bring this cup next year because you won't be able to refill them.. I guess they are not going green ..
I'm getting too old for this shit.
We walked in, hit 3 rides (the first of which was a kiddie ride!), then vowed to lay off the thrills for the rest of the day because we were feeling nauseous.
Pussies.
We were therefore able to catch most of the shows, which is definitely going the old school route if you ask me. There were very few rides, if any, when they opened as Marine World back in 1986. It's always nice to get splashed by a dolphin. I mean, really...how can you get mad at a dolphin?
$12.99 gets you unlimited sodas and lemonade. At $4 a pop otherwise, it's extremely worth it...especially if you're there when it's in the 90s, like we were.
Best value: small bag of Kettle Corn for three bucks or so. I'm still munching on it three days later.

I needed my dose of rollercoaster rides and decided to come here for a birthday celebration. Not too bad for a first experience and would love to come back! I even turned my boyfriend to a roller coaster lover despite his fear of heights. We both love Medusa, it is such a smooth ride and its not even that fast. I would avoid the tazmanian devil until you are about to leave because it makes you feel so sick afterwards. The animal shows are okay, but I expected more. Overall, it was a very fun experience and I'll come back again soon.
Remember to bring lots of cash because the food is expensive. Be prepared to lock up your bags/purses on certain rides because they won't let you leave your items on the side. The locker rentals are $1 so it's not bad at all!
I remember when this place was just Marine World. It was such a beautiful park and the animal shows were so awesome. I wish it was still this way.
Six Flags came in and F-ed up everything. This place is really gross now. The roller coasters aren't bad, but if you want to ride them I suggest you show up and walk in the second this place opens, hit all of them as fast as possible and bounce. The crowds here get soooooooo bad.
Took our little one (3 years old) to Six Flags (Still Marine World) to me. We couldn't do a lot since it was the 3 of us and since she's 3 years old that x-d us out of all the cool rides. I can tell you about the kiddie sections. Tava's Jungleland and Looney tunes Seaport was really fun - if you are 3! Luckily she made it by a hair (literally) on the rides. Most of the rides only let one adult go with the child. Not like Disneyland where all 3 of us can ride.
We did catch a tiger show at Odin's Tiger Temple and loved it! Wish it was longer though.. we ran to get our seats up front, waited 30 minutes for a 15 minute show!!
I was shocked to see Beer on the menu at the food pavillion. After hours of walking around and dying of thirst, we were ready for a cold one. If it's 9 bucks for a beer, than so be it - we needed one after the nagging and the riding on the same ride over and over till my head was spinning. Anyway, we get to the chicken and fries food court and I thought I saw God when I read "Beer" - Import or Domestic.
Couldn't get the damn thing anyway because the teens serving the chicken and fries said that they weren't allowed to serve beer - and no one over 21 was around to do it. BASTARDS! Take it off the menu I said! DAMMIT! My husband quietly reminded me that we were at a family establishment and that I should keep my voice down and stop trying to beg the teens to let me in and serve the beer myself. Hmph!
A little old man pointed out the bar where we could get margaritas, and beer and that we should try there. It's called Gordon Biersch or something like that.
Overall, nice place to take the kids if they are over 36 inches. Not a lot of things for the toddler to do except for the 2 kiddie lands I mentioned. Mainly a teenager hangout. Food is not the best - lots of fried goodies but we weren't expecting Wolfgang Puck here. Parking is $15. Put your tennis shoes on cause it's a HIKE to the park from the lot, unless you get the tram. Get a coupon if you are going for the day. It's $44.99 for one adult. If you buy online you can get tickets for $29.99 which is the kid's price - everyone pays kid's price.

After working here for about 5 years it kind of changes my aspect on this place, lol!
All in all I do always have fun going here, although.......Six Flags Magic Mountain is much better!
I recently went here because it was a scorcher in Vallejo, nearly 100 degrees maybe over. Besides having to park across the street at the fairgrounds we had to wait in line for the first ride....Monsoon Falls....for nearly 45 mins. It was well worth the wait even though the gyrl standin in line behind us nearly threw up all over the back of our legs. It was so disgusting, I had to turn away and cover my face with my shirt so that I wouldn't barf either. It was really strange becuase the gyrl just came out of nowhere and chunks were flying. (LMAO, sorry for the gross visual)
After gettin off the ride and getting dry in nearly 5 mins, we found Ben & Jerrys and had some nice ice cream to cool us down before we went on our next ride.
I would have to say the best part about our trip here was tryin to keep our phones dry while on the water rides without any ziplock bags or anything. It was quite hilarious.

They're usually in bed by 8p. Tonight, not even home 'til 8.45. The first thing Cinzia says is 'I had so much fun, I rode [whatever] four times in a row, but there were some rides I couldn't go on 'til I'm old like you. Can we have a kid's show tonight?"
Me: 'No kid's show. You've had enough excitement for the day. Jammies and off to bed.'
Cinzia: 'I hated six flags. it was no fun at all.'
Liar.

There was a few of us who came here a few weeks ago. I haven't been here since college - and even with that I don't have the best memories from this place! When I came here in college it was for a fundraiser and basically I had to work the food stands. So needless to say, garlic fries hasn't been the same since!
The park is actually a lot smaller than I remember. You can probably walk around the whole entire park (without getting on any rides or doing anything) in about 20-30 mins. I think we all enjoyed the dolphin show, the ride Medusa, and probably the water ride -because it was HOT day and this water ride cooled us down even though it sucked sitting with 2 bigger people that basically tipped the boat their way . But that was about it - all the other rides seemed to make me nauseous and sick.
There wasn't a long line on most of the rides at all. The longest line was the water ride - but that's probably because everyone wanted to cool down. Everything else was like a 10 min wait - there were even some rides where we went and got a seat immediately. Also not so good when some of the rides get closed down midday due to technically problems - and then reopens later on. That's not reassuring at all. Overall, I think I'm just getting too old for these amusement parks - it doesn't seem to amuse me that much anymore.

I remember loving this place when I was younger...you get to go on rides and see animal shows...whoooooaaaaaaaaaaa...if I reviewed this 10 years ago, it would have gotten 5+ stars..
Now that I am older, I find it was a huge disappointment......went last weekend and there was a fat load of traffic....so sad...stuck for so long just to exit...it was a hot hot day and they did not turn on the AC in any of the exhibits or gift stores....urhghg
The food and drinks are very expensive......you get to buy a bottle of refillable soda for 12.99...wow....what a bargain!! NOT....i ordered a chicken strip with fries for 8.79 which came with 3 pieces of chicken and some hard fries....SIGH...sodas are $3.99 and it's flat...where is the carbonation at?
the animals shows are alright...still the same as 10 years ago...but then i feel bad from them cuz they are trapped in there...it's kinda tiny...especially for the killer whale who has to live in a couple of pools....:(
with that said, i dont look forward to returning to this place...
btw, my friend bought 1 soda and got charged $8.11...the lady told her that her total was $4 something....when she looked at her receipt after we left the park, she found the surprise...
the only thing i enjoyed was the company and the funnel cake...that's about all.

I felt way too grown up to be here. The carnival games are setup to where you "win everytime" but u pay 5 bux for each turn--dumb! Everything is terribly overpriced which is expected, we ended up getting the drink "deal" that is pretty much 14 bux for a neon cup that you can refill all day. They actually make you throw this away if you try and bring it on any rides--why? who knows, the park is filled with lots of these hokey rules.
The best part was the dolphin show.
The best ride was Medusa.
The worst part was being squished into a raft with 2 fat people way bigger than us so much that it tipped their way.
The worst ride was Kong--headache anyone?
They should upkeep the marine component of the park better. Its hard to tell what kind of park it is walking around--too much going on--why was there a thomas-the tank engine town? The theme seems to be lost here. Walking in along the path, you can see the dirtiest toxic water ever. What was it? Whale/dolphin/shark poo? Yuck!

This place is great for rides, but I hate how their dolphins here. The dolphins here are suffering in their small swimming pools that isnt as big as their natural habitat (the ocean) I mean, come on. They swim in circles all day and perform for people for dead fish. They dont even eat dead fish. The dolphins are just used for money to bring in more people to the theme park. The trainers that teach the dolphins use operant conditioning, which means they starve the dolphins before the show so the dolphins will listen to the trainers. I hate how this place has these poor little dolphins here. ):

I went to Six Flags with a group of my friends after hearing about the $15/ticket twitter offer and after reading all these Yelp reviews I was not looking forward to the trip....
but six flags surprised me. I ended up having a wonderful time. The workers were super friendly and helpful and despite what they say in their rules, some of their roller coasters don't force you to get a locker, they actually have cubbies for you to put your stuff in.
The shows were awesome! I actually really enjoyed them and I usually hate shows so that's saying a lot.
I would recommend going on a week day or some day where there won't be a lot of people. The day I went, it was a Saturday but the lines moved quickly which made the ride even more worth while.
Meh.
I didn't feel like the prospect of being mugged or dealing with gangland so we opted to come here instead of Great America. It does not have that many rides-enough to keep you occupied for the day (like less than 10 or something). It was cool, I had fun but I also had good company and that always helps.
We brought food for lunch which I was excited about since they seem to think Panda Express is food since it can be found all over the park it seemed. I did try the corn sans oil/butter. It was good but roasted corn doesn't take a rocket scientist.
So we ordered a beer at Gordon B. and the lady took mild amusement in watching my friend jump from window to window looking for her before offering to actually do her job. That was interesting. The job must get old and she probably looks for kicks any way she can. Who really knows.
Overall, honestly, I felt old at the end of the day. :*( So sad that my youngster years are behind me and I feel the weight of the day on the slow walk back to the car.
I think the park is cool, it is kinda small but worth a gander-doubtful on the season pass (at least for me).
Highlights for me: Their butterfly world was pretty cool, actually a lot of butterflies. Roar, an awesome wooden rollercoaster. Medusa without an hour long line. Beer, cheaper than a ball game.

boomerang: screamed going foward.. said "wheeeee!" going backwards
VOODOO: HELLA fun
scatabout: probably the most fun family ride there
KONG: EASY (the drop is slow.... VERY slow)
MEDUSA: THE FUNNEST ROLLER COASTER THERE :D
**there is a wii sports resort thing there... so if you dont own a wii now is your chance to play :D
OMG!!
it was awesome!!!! i had the best time EVER!!!
yawp going back....
SikE!!
.... they should take better kare of some of the animal...
one of the tigers looked like it was VERY sick or had a bad stomach!!
probably not a place for kids....
This place is pretty.......................G H E T T O.
Kinda like Oakland Walmart atmosphere. But everyone was nice, and very happy to be where they were.
DO NOT see the white tiger show. When they say: "These tigers are not trained to do tricks like in the circus" and everyone laughs, its not a effing joke. Its a fact. They dont do anything like they do in the commercials. WHITE TIGER ODOM, you suck! My cat tiger at home does more tricks.
Yes, there was a "everyone pays kids price" sale right now, but seems like you have to pay extra for everything else in the park..
Anyone who hasnt tried the Skydiving thing, where its kinda like bungee, or whatever MUST. Its crazy. $25/person. But for 5whole seconds your mind is clear, and all you can think of is falling/dying.
Best part of the park, was the 4th of july fireworks, CRAZY.
Funnel cake, wouldve been good if there wasnt such a long line, that it became soggy by the time i got out of there.
Best ride: ROAR. youll hurt your neck, but its oldfashion fun! Bad part about that ride, NO CUBBIES to put your stuff in, they make you get off if you dont get a locker or throw whatever you have away..we had to throw our $10 turkey leg away........shouldve just got off.
2nd best? Tasmanian devil. But thats just me.
2stars for the place, but 5stars for the day i had.

OK so today my family and i go went to Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo California.. So Far it has been the worst experience in my life.. so my day went good and had fun.. on my way to leave the theme park there was a man being escorted to leave the park. as i am walking though the turn style i was thrown to the floor by security and cuffed. next thing i know my face was slammed into the concert.. now bleeding from the mouth and nose my father is upset and he also gets thrown down. security hit him so bad they broke the blood vessels in his eye and hurt his ribs. most fucked up part we were innocent.. only mistakin for someone else.. niether my father or i used force on any officer.. we were arrested booked for assault and trespassing.. what a day.. court date coming really soon cant wait to sue these bastards.. :(
Not worth the money.
Not worth the wait.
And with the money I saved, I spent on a tiny, diluted Ben & Jerry's Milkshake. 90% milk, 10% ice cream.
Sadness.

I'm from So Cal, the land of Disney, Magic Mountain and Sea World so maybe I'm used to a higher caliber theme park, but this place is SIX FLAGS Discovery Kingdom and thus I will review it as part of the Six Flags family.
This version of Six Flags seems more like a really good carnival than a multi-million dollar theme park. I like the idea of having a Sea World-type park combined with an amusement park, but it doesn't do either one exceptionally well. It seems as if they said, "Hey, what else are people in the Northern Bay going to do? It's too far to go to Great America."
I can see how this place would be good for teenagers or families with children, but if you're above the age of 18 and going out for a day with friends, be prepared to be unimpressed.
Just to throw this out there my fellow Yelpers, check out the reviews of Six Flags Magic Mountain. As of the moment I am writing this review: 181 reviews with a 4 star rating.
I don't know if it's just me getting older, but the park just isn't the great. The upside is the lines for the rides weren't very long and the shows were pretty entertaining, albeit, short. I wish they were longer than 15 minutes.
For a theme park, it's actually really small. For some reason, I always thought it was bigger, but you can probably walk from one end to the other in 15 minutes, if not less.
Food is always overpriced in the park, what else is new? But those funnel cakes are totally worth it!
The rides are pretty fun, although most are not as thrilling as Magic Mountain's. Wish there were more of them though; there's only a small handful of the thrill rides.
I didn't like how commercialized the park seemed though. Everywhere you turn there was some advertisement for some kind of sponsor. That was a big turn off.
I guess it's something to do if you have down time in the area, but I probably won't be back.
i got a reply for my 3 continuous emails to them (they had a character limit haha)
"thank you for your comments, six flags would like to assure you that your concerns will be addressed."
ADDRESSED MY ASS...okay just kidding, I don't really know and never will because I am never going there again, sucks for my children. great america and SF zoo will be all they get.

1) Don't wear a cap if you're going to go on the rollercoasters because they make you take it off (wasn't too happy sitting there with total hat hair

I have a serious love/hate relationship with this place. Memories of hanging out with friends in high school and playing DDR when they had an arcade. And the last two summers working here.
Coming to Six Flags as a customer is NOT worth it. Face it, there's five roller coasters (assuming they're all working that day because Kong loves to break down), the food is wayyy over priced (even with my employee discount the food was STILL way over priced!), most of the animals are gone and there's really not much else to do. Not to mention Fright Fest isnt what it use to be! The tickets and parking go up every year, its just not worth all the money you're spending just to spend ONE day at this park.
My suggestion? Wait until the Season Passes go down to $29.99.
I must admit, the funnel o's are addicting (assuming they have any).
As an employee this park is one hell of an experience. No day is every the same as the last.
Oh and the games arent rigged, I've seen plenty of people win all of the games more than once.
It wasn't as great as i have expected.
It was my first time to Six Flag..
but i don't know if I'm ever gonna go back.
Rides like Medusa, Vertical Velocity was crazy.. i loved it!
but.. Kong... i mean starting with the name and the ride..it was just boring.
All i can remember about Kong was that my ears hurt like a b**** after getting off.
I got bored of the rides after 2 hours and just ended watching the dolphin, killer whale shows.
It has not enough crazy roller-coasters compared to Great America.
Some water rides were closed.. and etc.
It was worth the money though, since I only paid 24 dollars (it was a group buy).
Had good time with friends.. which are priceless...
Now that I'm back home... i can't help myself but go to sleep..

I like they don't allow profanity in the park. I swear, but I don't have to at an amusement park, and it really sets an expectation that teens/adults aren't going to get out of hand and be thuggy.
For $44.95 for an adult admission it isn't worth it, but use a coupon to get a $24.95 deal. Buy it in person and you'll only have to pay an extra $.75 in city tax. Check the lines at ALL the blue ticket booths- they are staggered and some booths to the far right have no lines.
-If you buy online, they'll charge you $5 for the 'print and go' service which is printing it at home. They allow 999 login tries before they lock you out of printing the ticket, which is BS online security and a ripoff.
-Parking-Carpool, because parking is a ridiculous $15.
-Security- You can only bring in water, or they'll make you stow the food in a locker outside the gates. I guess you're SOL if your baby needs baby food?
-Food- Inside the park is overpriced, but if you like soda/lemonade, buy the $12 cup with unlimited same-day refills outside the gates. Inside the gates it's $14. If you bring back the cup during the same year, you get refills for $.99.
The park was a strange combination of animal shows/exhibits and adult/kid thrlll rides. I skipped the rollercoasters for physical reasons but the people on them looked like they were having fun.
-Animal shows are short- 15-20 mins, not like other parks where they were 45 mins. BUT go early, since the animals are often let out early (dolphins, etc.) and you can see them playing around. The handlers seem really knowledgeable and apparently like their jobs. They don't put the animals away right after and you can linger after the show to watch them. I like that they don't make the animals do weirdly unnatural things. The birds/dolphins/whales/tigers seemed to be pretty content.
(Note- Shark Attack is not a show, it's aquariums.) It's annoying that the show schedule isn't available until you pass through the ticket gates, so you can't plan out your day beforehand.
This park is actually fairly small although the map is confusing and makes it seems larger. The day we went it was fairly hot, but there are water rides to cool you down. The log ride was pretty short (just a hill and a drop) but the upside is that the lines were short. The park didn't seem to be very full, thankfully.
Little kid rides- some of them marked MILD were pretty scary for little kids. Many of them in different areas seemed to have the same engine - the Thomas the Tank Engine bus was the same as the Looney Tunes submarine. Not too many rides that were super calm and safe for little ones 3 and under.
I thought the merchandising was much more laid back than other parks, except for the Thomas train dumping kids into the store. The kids were often more fascinated with the train track in the store than anything else. (The staff were really good about not rushing the kids out.)
The staff were all very friendly- helping with maps, taking pics for visitors, wiping off tables (I've NEVER seen that at an amusement park), sweeping a lot. I've heard that DK filed for bankruptcy recently. That would be a shame.
After coming here for the 3rd time this place is more like a 2.5 because it is A-OK but yeah, I have experienced better. Theres not much roller coasters, which is what I look for in a more fun and exciting theme park. I've ridden most of the rides from the last couple times i've been here but the newest one was the tony hawk big spin and that was pretty fun. Theres also not much of a variety of foods here and of course they are SUPER expensive. Overall i'd only come back if asked.

Six Flags DIscovery Kingdom has a great rollercoaster, Medusa and a few other okay rollercoasters. I love rollercoasters but.... It also has very unhealthy overpriced food, long waits, and sad suffering animals. They have camels in tiny cages, Elephants giving rides to children - around and around they go while their trainer prods them with a sharp stick. Whales and dolphins in small chlorinated tanks are also sorry sight. Top it off with suburban teenagers who call me and my boyfriend faggots. Ugh, I hate leaving San Francisco sometimes!

Not good for the 1 year old toddler...check out a comparison of SFDK vs Gilroy Gardens for young toddlers here:

This is one of the worst six flags parks I have ever been to. It used to be an animal park, called "Marine World" now, it is Six Flags Marine World. It was purchased around 1999 or so and converted over to an amusement park. The layout is not set up to accomodate large numbers of people. The layout in fact, is very poor. The rides arent that great either, when they are all functional that is. There are lots of animal exhibits there, and the animals are all huddled together in small habitats that arent large enough for them. When you visit the animals, you get a sense of sorrow for them, they are almost caged, the exhibits are that small. There is not much in the way of food or shade, and the employees of the park leave a lot to be desired. The park also closes very early, 8pm. Most six flags parks close at 10pm, or 9pm. Overall, not a very good place to visit. Plus it is at as hot as hell in Vallejo. Save your money and go to Great America or the San Francisco Zoo.
I was only what? 5 maybe the first time I went to marine world? I was just there last week for the 2nd time. They changed a bit of certain spots. Everything was good except for the really really slow service. I know you have AC, but atleast thinka bout the people! The best part was the shark exibit. It's $5 to feed birds and sea lions which is a rip off since you don't get very much at all.
