Pros: We had discount tickets and only spent $20 on admission. Went on a Sunday afternoon for Fright Fest and there was hardly a wait for any of the rides.
Cons: Park is noticeably old. It appears there hasn't been a new ride installed since the early 2000's. I only went on 3 rides and left the park with a terrible headache from the Joker's Jinx and nearly lost my lunch on the Penguin raft ride.
At least there were 12 cop cars outside the main entrance when we left....at 5:00 p.m.

I just went back for the first time in five years yesterday and boy has it gone down the shitter. It's not a surprise at all considering Dan Snyder owns the place--if you're a Skins fan you know what I'm talking about.
First of all I don't think they built a single new ride since I was last there. Not to mention they apparently took down Two Face for some reason. The rest of the rides I went on:
Roar: sucks
The Wild One: meh, good if you're taking kids
Tower of Doom: by far the best attraction there, it's also really old so that tells you something about the state of the park
Mind Eraser: really lame
Joker's Jinx: nothing special
Superman: second best ride there IMO, but still doesn't live up to the hype
Batwing: Breaks down literally every five rides, makes the wait twice as long as it should be
And then the way they nickel and dime you is really annoying.
Food: I paid about $15 for a Johnny Rockets meal (burger, fries, and a coke), something that should cost no more than $7.
Locker rentals: They specifically don't allow you to leave your stuff on the platform during the roller coasters and force you to rent their lockers. That's $1 extra for every ride you go on. Lockers at the water park cost me $15 (WTF???)
Flash passes: That's an extra $3 per ride per person to skip the line, and if you don't buy one others can cut in front of you at your expense.
The people there are are awful. Most of the tourists are gone, leaving only the ghetto locals who blatantly cut the lines knowing that no one would dare call them out.
If you're in the area and want to go to an amusement park, you're better off heading to Busch Gardens or Hershey Park.

This place is scary...and I'm not talking about their Halloween event! The park is tired and has a feeling of being run down, even though there had been some money spent on it when Six Flags took it over several years ago. The visitors can be a little rough around the edges, making themselves a nuisance that keeps you from enjoying yourself. The staff though is indifferent and pathetic. My first trip to the park, I went on the Joker's Jinx and the ride had some issue after we had finished the ride, but before we were unloaded. We sat there, in our restraints, for over twenty minutes with no one telling us what was going on or even paying attention to us. Not only was it uncomfortable and unnerving to be stuck on a ride, with the restraints tight around your head and shoulders, I started to get claustrophobic after over twenty minutes of being restrained like that. Then it started to rain while we were stuck there and the only thing they said to us was that we could cut to the front of the line on another ride to make up for it. When I went to complain at guest services, they didn't care at all.
While this park is certainly closer to me than Hershey Park, King's Dominion or Busch Gardens, it is not a place I would go back to unless I knew they cleaned up the park and their act.

A couple of coworkers and I decided to spend the afternoon at Six Flags...our usual company summer outing was cancelled, so we took it upon ourselves to play hooky and have some fun. After reading the previous reviews, I was kind of expecting the worst...but my experience actually was pretty fun.
The best part of the day was obviously the coasters. We hit up everything except for The Joker's Jinx (service issues) and the Mind Eraser (our season pass holding friends warned us that it sucks). The Superman coaster was freaking fantastic - I could have stayed on there all day and would have been perfectly happy. Same with the Batwing. I think our longest wait all day was 30 minutes - it was mostly 5-10 minute waits for everything else. The only ride I really didn't enjoy was the Penguin raft thingie. At my ripe old age, sitting in a smelly raft and spinning uncontrollably is not my idea of fun. It was like sitting on a frictionless Sit and Spin while someone douses you with dirty garden hose water. Yuck.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the park's downfall is, well, everything else - namely, it's the food and the workers. We ate before we got to the park, but needed some funnel cake energy about halfway through our day - this was a disaster. The cake was about the nastiest, greasiest thing I've ever had in my life, and the kid at the counter bungled just about every step of the process. A funnel cake combo (the cake and a medium coke) and a bottle of water was $14. Yikes.
Overall, it was a good experience, but I'm glad we didn't pay full price. Luckily, our friends have season passes - as a result, we got two free tickets. With two more BOGO tickets, I think four of us ended up paying $15 per ticket. Not bad.
My advice? Stick to the rides. Eat before you get there, and smuggle in food (security is lackadaisical at best). And whatever you do, don't pay full price. Take advantage of the BOGO tickets, and if you've got season pass holding friends, take advantage of them, too :)
Ok, so its a bit run down and kinda ghetto. But... its really not all that bad. There is barely any lines for most coasters = less time wasted.
Here is the secret, get yourself some flash passes. You get to skip the line and basically go and do anything nearly instantly. (The max i waited was 3-4 min). Buying the flash passes were the best thing we decided to do here. Unlike in the other parks like in new jersey where you can only get an allotted time, the flash pass allowed you to go anywhere you wanted at any time and jump on the ride.
So its not disney world in here, and i probably wouldnt come over and over... but it was still fun. Just dont do the best ride first. If you do that, then all the other coasters will be lame.

Damn, man. Just don't go. This park is pretty ghetto and the employees are rude. The coasters are mediocre. Not to mention the place is in ruins: not well maintained. My friends and I burned through the park in just under two hours.

What a terrible Six Flags. Honestly - the place is not well maintained and the staff is so pissy. I know most amusement park staffers are young and angsty, but, they're at work - they should at least act like they care.
If you ignore the little bratfaces you can get excited that this park has two really good roller coasters! Superman Ride of Steel is a big winner (I could ride that one all day) and Jokers Jinx is pretty fun. Batwing is weird, Wild One is OK and Mind Eraser is garbage - and not one of the other rides is worth mentioning.

This place absolutely scares the livin' shit out of me.
And it is not just the stomach turning rides.
It's the fact that the whole operation - and the lives of thousands of customers - seems to be controlled by a bunch of jaded, half asleep dopey teenagers.
If you are between the ages of 10 and 20, this is probably heaven - the further you get out of that range the closer it gets to hell.
Add in the gross and overpriced food, the shoddy service, the difficulty of finding the place which sells beer, the lack of seating and the long lines divide that by the dollars you have spent and you end up with a dollar to crap ratio second to none in this city.

Back where I'm from, going to Six Flags is a big deal. I lived near Six Flags Great America, which is the mack-daddy of all amusement parks in the Midwest. Lines are always 2+ hours long for the roller coasters, and the place is always packed with bratty kids and annoying teenagers. But dammit I love it anyway. Imagine my surprise when I went to Six Flags America for the first time.
There is no one there!
Breezing through lines for the best roller coasters in like 10 minutes was the absolute best part of my day. I was shocked by just how empty it was. Of course I didn't really mind, because that meant more roller coaster rides for me! The absolute best is the Superman. It reminds me of my beloved Raging Bull at Great America - the singular roller coaster that ended my roller coaster fear and made me LOVE them. The Batwing is also pretty good - reminds me of the Superman ride at Great America.
Now for the bad. Yes, the food, souvenirs, etc. etc. are expensive. But honestly, it's Six Flags, what were you expecting? The rides are run by sleepy teenagers, which can be a little disconcerting but you'd think they'd still care about people's safety. I'd totally go back again.

Not worth going to and wasting your hard earned money. The flash passes are a totally bad idea. I also agree with Zenide & matt.
Having lived a 20 minute drive from here most of my life, we used to enjoy the facilities many moons ago. Back when it was Wild World. Even during the early stages of Adventure World. We had season passes and parking passes every single year! Spent 8 hour summer days here lounging by the pools and riding the favorites. Once this park became a full fledged Six Flags, the whole thing tanked on a steady slope.
Regardless of what used to be, what you will find now is an overcrowded park with overpriced everything. The staff is mostly made up of local teenagers who could care less about any assigned job, the park is not clean, the rides are frequently down, and I no longer care to visit here. There are many much better Six Flags parks to visit, including the one just a few hours north in New Jersey.
Having said all that, if you do have a season pass to here or any other Six Flags park (yes they will work here too!), or a friend with one who will then have passes to get you in for free, it can be a fun time killer if you have something specific in mind. If its 100 degrees it may be fun to lie by the pool and eat expensive food. The magic show used to be pretty fun, but I haven't seen it in a while. And of course the big coasters are cool when working, but expect hideous lines.
And lastly, FrightFest (formerly Hallowscream) is usually a fun time.

I felt like I had to post after I read everyone's reviews before heading out yesterday. I have to say, we went on a weekday and it was a lot of fun. The park was clean, people were friendly (although some were incompetant), all of the rides we working except one water one which was closed for the day, bathrooms and public areas were clean. Maybe they have stepped up their act, but I really couldn't complain much. Yes, the food and lockers are stupid expensive, but we just went back to the car, a 5 minute walk or less, and ate there. I thought the water park was great on a hot day. After reading so many terrible reviews and having a good time at a nice park, I felt like I had to post.
*Review of Six Flag America's Fright Fest*
I have to admit that I hate Halloween, but my boyfriend had free tickets from his work and I grew up right by and loved Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. The experience was less scary and more just sad.
Rides: Even though it's off-season, if you advertise for Fright Fest, you should be prepared for it. Half the rides were closed, the other half felt really choppy and not well-maintained. I love(d) roller coasters but most of these just made me feel sick. The bat wing was cool and an inventive kind of coaster, but I did feel like I was going to fall out the entire time.
Eateries: I know amusement park food isn't good, but this was just bad. The funniest part of the day was when a ceiling panel in one of the food places fell on some annoying teenage kids.
Entertainment: I'll admit that I was too much of a chicken to go into the haunted houses but my boyfriend said they were ok. They did have these musical performances where they would have zombies sing and dance to pop songs like Toxic and Thriller. The singing was so bad, big groups of people just left.
Overall: You know those horror movies where people get stuck at an eerily empty carnival-- yeah, that's how it felt because it was so empty and dreary there.

I read a lot of very negative reviews before arriving at Six Flags, and was prepared for a pretty poor experience. We were all very pleasantly surprised. If you like roller coasters, this is the park for you! My nephews were thrilled with all the rides, especially the Superman and the Batwing. Lines were minimal (5-10 minutes for most rides). The staff were very polite and helpful. At one point, the kids got stuck in the middle of a ride for about 20 minutes. Immediately, they said, Six Flags sent workers to talk to them and entertain them, and when the problem was fixed, they were given tickets allowing them to go directly to the front of the line on any ride they wished.
The water park also had some terrific rides, and all kids had a ball there.
The food is very expensive, but we smuggled in our own (very minimal check at the entrance to the park), and just bought ice cream. Also--lockers are a must, since some of the rides don't allow you to take anything with you such as a camera.
All in all, I have to say that our experience at Six Flags was extremely positive. Don't hesitate to go! Use a coupon code from http://www.themeparkco... to save some money on tickets.

I've been here three or four times, but I've never paid for entrance because it's always been for corporate days. In some cases, this means significantly shorter lines, in other cases (like with my current company) this means lines that are almost as excessive as typical park days.
The awesome:
- The Batwing: My all-time favorite ride at this park. Ever dreamed of flying? Now you can. This thing turns you over and lets you soar through the air like the Caped Crusader himself. R0x0rz!
- The Superman: This thing will make your stomach rise into your throat, but it's totally worth it. My advice is to ride it first. Over the course of the day, if you ride other rides that are in the Gotham City neighborhood, you'll have lots of opportunities to look up at this monstrosity, and you will get more and more nervous about it. Bite the bullet and just get on. And get off.
- Two-Face: This one gives me an adrenaline rush. It's the weirdness of falling and doing flips through the air backwards and not being able to see where I'm going or what's coming up. Funtastic.
The ugly:
- The staff: Maybe it's because it's getting into the off-season, but there were a lot of blank faces throughout the park.
- The maintenance: Probably the most disconcerting thing is when rides get mysteriously shut down with no explanation as to what's wrong with them. After they send a few empty cars through the ride, they let people back on. Did they change anything? Who knows? Then there are the rides where the cars get stuck partway through the ride. I've seen some cars stuck on the first incline up the Superman. How much not-fun would THAT be? Yeah. Shaderiffic.
I've always enjoyed myself at this park. Especially this past year, when the weather was absolutely perfect for being outside. Would I pay to come? Never.

This sorry excuse for a theme park is more a place to be the victim of gang violence rather than a thrilling day with friends and family. Inefficiently run by illiterate employees, and there's really not that much to do. It's worth the longer drive to King's Dominion or Busch Gardens.
Hmm...but the Angry Cows ride IS pretty fun...

I was browsing reviews and came across Six Flags. It is a sad sad place. There are many Six Flags out there that are much better.
I can't even tell you about the rides. When I visited the power was out in most of the park. They sold us a ticket anyway without telling us.
They were not concerned with getting us back either. They gave us no incentive to return. Boo!

It's a good thing we got free tickets or I'd be pretty frackin unhappy. The place is a poophole. The place is understaffed by ppl who don't care. They seriously had 1 person working a whole pizza shack. The flash pass system just pisses everyone else off. All the rides only had one or two cars running. Admittedly the Superman ride is tight, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the overcrowded black sheep of the Six Flags family. And I didn't understand what one of the yelpers meant when they say the place has a PG county feel to it... unfortunately, now I do. Don't do it... Don't go.

I used to be a season pass holder for many years, ( ending last year, and vowing never to waste my money on it again). This particualar six flags is a big disappointment compared to other major theme parks. It certainly was nice and convenient when you live near by, but even that lost its intrigue. In a nutshell, here are a few things you can expect: 1) you can almost always expect one of the best rides to be closed. 2) there will be very long lines with a lot of line hopping (that is never controlled). 3) the employees that run the rides are questionable to say the least.
4)everything is extremely overpriced. 5) expect to park far away with an outrageous parking fee. 6) be prepared to ride in wet/sweaty seats that smell bad. I could go on, but that's the gist of it. Overall, if you get in for free, than it won't be so bad, if you pay for it.. make the most of it. My very favorite ride there is the Superman coaster and tower of doom.. and I miss not riding them, but it's really not worth going there for just that. I love all coasters, but unfortunately their wooden ones seem like they could fall apart and the tracks are never oiled. Now, if you have kids, and are in the kiddie section, I'm sure they will have fun, just be sure to have money on hand for all the extras.

visited this park with two other members of my family on a trip to DC and paid about $145 to visit and was appalled. the park was operating at about 40% operating capacity with most of the major rides closed for repairs or for no apparent reasons. Also, the customer service is the worst I have ever seen, being mostly kids that are lazy and dont care about service or customers or anything at all. I reported this problem to Guest Relations only to be shrugged off by the managers telling me it was the weather (it was a hot 90 degrees). This is one of the worst theme parks I have ever visited and I will never go to another Six Flags because of this one trashy park. It is disgustingly dirty and I could not believe Six Flags lets this operate like this. I reported it to the Better Business Bureau. Please do yourself a favor and save your money. I received better service at a local county fair!! Just an FYI, I contacted the MD Attorney Generals office on this business and they have received numerous complaints. Needless to say, I got my money back in full after doing this and turning them into the Better Business Bureau.

I like a lot of the rides here, however this place has a definite grimy PG County feeling to it. Lines have never been much of an issue for me because I've only been on weekdays, but I have no idea how well the park deals with crowds on weekends.

I had Friday off from work so the bf and I decided to go visit Six Flags. We've never been there before so we went online and bought two tickets, two Flash Passes, and a preferred parking pass = $98. I used a discount code on the tickets (coldstone) so we got kid's prices. The parking attendant read our pass incorrectly and gave us a regular parking pass when we got there, but it didn't matter...there weren't many people there and parking was close anyways. We got there at 11:55 and I walked quickly to get our Flash passes before the noon deadline. Yeah, we ended up not even using the darn things....which is a good thing I guess since lines weren't long. But we wasted $20 :( We tried to sell them for a discount before we left, but no takers...so then we tried just giving them away since I didn't want to waste it...asked 4 groups...and finally the 5th group took it. Geez, if someone offered me free passes to jump in line I would take it.
Anyways, the rides were alright. A lot of rides were closed though. The batman rollercoaster was greeeeat :) It's like you're really flying lol. The superman rollercoaster was fun too and so was the bumper cars (sort of)...besides that, not much to rave about.
We were hot and disgustingly sweaty so we got a snow cone which tasted so good. Then we headed over to the water park...let me tell you something...stepping into the cold water was almost orgasmic. I've never been to a water park before and now I wish I had. We splashed around, we slid down slides, we had water dumped on us, got on a tube and went down a water tunnel/funnel thing, bumped into people in the wave pool, swallowed disgusting water. It was great! :P But seriously, the water felt nice.
So if you go, go do the rides first, then the water park :) I shouldn't have bought the flash passes since it was a friday and kids were still in school, but I can't say if you should or shouldn't get it during the rest of the summer.

first off... I AM ONE PARANOID F***!!
cause seriously. whenever i hear/see crazy ass squeaks, rusty metal, chippy wood, and loose ass bolts, im paranoid.
the days i came here in the past, rides were fairly new and i didnt have much issues with going on them (plus i was finally tall enough! :P) as you can tell this was A WHILE BACK.
i went to sixflags yesterday and lemme tell you i felt like a pregnant woman with swollen ass feet, hot, and one of the rides gave me whiplash, what the fuck.
they have this new water ride, and its some tony hawk thing. neways its basically like a half pipe. one, the worker was an ass, two, he puts you in weird positions, three, he didnt even tell me why i should put my head down. and right before i was getting ready he just dragged me down the thing. like wtf, let me do what you told me to do. you go down this steep slide and my head just flungs backwards. now im having issues swallowing (no dirty jokes) and my neck is really sore.
more than half the crap was closed. i could barely get on anything due to flash passes (mother fuckers). honestly i think this flash pass crap needs to stop. dont get me wrong 25 bucks is not that bad, but when your there with crowded ass lines you know people are gonna react. this one woman almost lost it when she got to the front of the line and just jumped on the thing when they told her she had to wait for flashpass. now, i noticed how the lines were long and past experiences i went on superman was more than once, twice, eight times in a row. after seeing how long the ride was my friend told me its just worth it to go on it once and wait in the line for the front seat. BAD IDEA! cause i didnt even know about flash pass until yesterday. and of course every flash pass person would sit in the front. i got pissed tho cause they were appose to alternate reg to flash passes and they let flash pass go two times in a row. if you were waiting in line for two fucking hours i think anyone would have been pissed.
joker was fun i wont lie but i think its too slow at times (except for the beginning of course), i never got to ride the batwing cause lines were too gosh darn long! the dirty water ride was fun but seriously CLEAN THE FUCKING WATER!!! ugh it smelled so bad and honestly you know somethings going on if the water is brown. i went on some orange ride i forgot the name, and two wooden ones that hurt my sides. water park more than half the slides were closed, waiting in line smelled like shit (i swear i know those kids were peeing on the floor cause i felt like puking), fucking greedy ass little kids just took the tube right after they just got off, and you couldnt even go in the deep end of the wave pool. what fun is that? and seriously find better workers or atleast more of them cause they dont even know what their doing and i dont consider touching my seatbelt and not the actual seat bar a secure way of checking that im in my seat properly. the whole park needs to rearrange some rides. apparently you cant leave water park without a shirt on which i find stupid cause you get incredibly drenched in that dirty water ride and penguin your ass gets wet, why not just connect those two together with water park FO REALLS! and seriously if some rides been out for a long ass time, i suggest to either rebuild it or think up of a new ride cause thats just wasting space.
overall, i got in for free cause of my friend and i only spent about 20 bucks for locker and food so it wasnt that bad. but i will only go again if i get in for free or fuck the one in maryland i hear the one in jersey is nice (from friend). this was a very last min trip (like the night before "ey you wanna go to six flags?" lol "sure why not")
keep a note that some people are just rude and dont know how to move in lines. this bitch just attacked one of my friend and screamed at him saying "why are you getting in front of me" when clearly she was in a line for a different seat. CHILL! cause its not like your gonna be getting on anytime soon. and bring your own shit to drink. like ill be damned if i paid 4 bucks for coke.
one good thing that came from this, i saw a bunch of cute little groundhogs, prairie dogs, fat squirrels, i dont know the name but they were a buncha cuties.
so come here when you got the hook up with free passes, ITS A SCHOOL DAY, and its not tremdiously hot but hot like 80 degrees and your good.
