sit and wonder is definitely a good place to sit and wonder, sit and chat, sit and read, sit and work or just sit...i came here a couple of times, most of the time with friends. it's spacious, well lit, clean and most importantly has a very clean bathroom. i hate cafes with bad/dirty bathrooms. that is not the case here.

the wifi is free, as it should be! and the coffee is good. the cups they serve for to stay are cute and has a homey feeling. there are plenty of room to sit but the place doesn't feel crammed.

i prefer going here during the day on week days when there are less people and more room to sit and work. i've been here once on a weekend and it wasn't so bad, but certainly more crowded.

overall, great neighborhood cafe!

i like that they have stumptown coffee.

i like that it's 5 minute walk from my house.

I like that they don't hate on you for using their wi-fi, or better yet making you pay for it as in some other establishments.

in relation to my previous point--i like that they have a million plugs for your laptops.

i like that their chairs are very comfortable...maybe a little too comfortable for people to do any "real" work.

i kind of like that they have some pastries (from choice cafe in clinton hill) like cookies, muffins, madelines, etc...not a large selection, and there is no real reason for the "kind of", just wished they had some sandwiches or some sort of non-pastry food.

i kind of don't like that because there are a lot of the "i like qualities" at this coffee joint, patrons seem to stay forever on their tables and never seem to move. they chat, watch movies, read books, and sometimes "work", but i'm just saying....the "likes" overwhelm the "kind ofs"....

did i mention that i really like stumptown coffee?

Sit and Wonder is a spacious coffee shop that gets filled up quickly but serves good coffee for decent prices. My only complaint is they don't have food besides a few pastries. Bagels are a necessity in any wondrous coffee shop!

The staff is welcoming. The sofa in the back allows for hours of Internet perusing comfort. This was a much needed addition to Washington Avenue because I had to lug my laptop to Joyce Bakeshop before they opened. The bathroom is clean unlike most in NYC.

It's my first trip here, and I can't even wait until I get home to write this review.

Great cappuccino, Stumptown beans, quirky and comfy decor, and the best bathroom wallpaper I've ever seen.  In short, the perfect neighborhood cafe.

We passed Sit & Wonder on our first Prospect Heights apartment-hunting trip, and it looked perfect from the outside.  After spending hours there emailing apartments and having delicious cappuccino, and now that I live down the block, spending more hours during the day, I think it definitely lived up to its first impression.

I'll have to say that I haven't explored beyond the cappuccino ($3) and a half pound of Stumptown espresso beans ($11) for work, but both were great.

For the ambiance, the music selection early on also really made it for me - some days new Radiohead, others Miles Davis, etc, depending on the mood of the barista and their ipod - though BBC news early one morning on the radio was also refreshing.

Right now, it isn't too busy, and that's a plus for folks with reading and occasional internet searching to do (on the free wifi, just get the password).  And also good  if you just want to take a break and read a book from the take-one-leave-one shelves in front.

If it gets busy, it will be hard, because there isn't too much space for seating: two tables with good room in the front, a few two-person tables and the counter along the way to the back, and a bench, couch, and armchair in back.

I like it.

went this morning for the first time and liked it.

i like the variety of couches and the staff is friendly + they have wifi

i went to check out the bathroom, just because the last person who reviewed the cafe mentioned the bathroom wallpaper, and indeed it's like taken from an old tv show or film

i'll go back again most likely, and have the stumptown coffee

Sit and Wonder has filled a major void on Washington Avenue.

It's a great place to hang out.  This cafe plays WNYC in the morning, has a book exchange, and overall a really mellow vibe.

I passed by one morning and bought a Stumptown coffee. On a whim, I picked up a mushroom and cheddar scone, something I normally would not choose but couldn't help myself because they just looked so delicious.  I was not wrong.  I am officially hooked. Since then, I have tried the bread pudding, the lemon ginger muffin and the cheddar and scallion scone. All unbelievably good. My regular bakery has nothing on Sit & Wonder.

Sit and Wonder is now high on my list of places to work during the day. The coffee is great, of course, and very reasonably priced. A lovingly made macchiato is $2.50. The music is generally indie and classic rock albums (Bob Dylan has been on frequent rotation, and I've heard the National once or twice). There are a ton of outlets, and the wifi is reliable (I'm looking at you, Outpost). It's not huge--there are three tables in the back, plus a sofa and easy chair, and a handful of additional seats in the front. But so far it's never been full on a weekday. They also sell Stumptown beans, for what it's worth.

A nice addition to the booming Prospect/Crown Heights coffee scene.

I agree with Jason's comments above...I wish there was more "there" there. It is smartly designed and nice enough, but God help you if you want more than a coffee.

Speaking of which, it is rather weak. Maybe they need two options--an unleaded and premium approach would not hurt.

Sit and Wonder's big claim to fame is that they're serving Stumptown Coffee, which is apparently a big deal.  They also have wi-fi and some decent looking pastries.  Drinks are between $2 and $4.25, they're open from 7am to 8pm every day, and there are a variety of seating options, including tables, couches, and counter seating.  I have to say that a little bit of the allure is lost on me, since I (gasp) don't drink coffee, but it's a good coffee shop for getting out of the house and doing work, and there isn't really anything like that in Prospect Heights past Vanderbilt.  I would like to see a few more non-coffee options, since that's my personal preference, but my coffee drinking cohorts said the coffee was excellent.

Much needed addition to the neighborhood!  Super tasty coffee, very reasonable prices ($2 Americano?).  Free wi-fi that seems reliable.  Good indie rock playing while i was there, but quiet enough to get work done.  Clean, cute.  Baked goods, but seems like all sweets: no savory stuff or sandwiches (that gets my fifth star!).  Come to hang out or for a little home away from home work time!

I really want to like Sit and Wonder when I saw that it was opening last Saturday.

And so far, there is a lot to like. The decor is comfortable, the music cool and not too loud, there are lots of outlets for laptops, the service is friendly.

I guess I just feel there should be more. For instance, there are not many cold drink choices, and the Iced Chai I got was a bit on the small size. They have some pastries, but no bagels, no sandwiches, nothing sustainable. I just wish that they gave me more reasons to come or stay.

Great coffee - best this side of Gorilla. Cappucino complete with crema. Nice hangout place that won't bother you even if you're working most of the day. Service is friendly, pastries are good. In short, everything you'd want in an urban coffee shop.

I like this place a lot. It has a nice vibe and (unlike Joyce) has lots of outlets for those crappy Mac laptop batteries. There was not a place to just relax and be outside of your house on this side of the neighborhood, and at least to me was very needed. Although whenever I'm there I always stare longingly at that back area and wish they could put a couple of tables back there. I agree with the other reviewers that some sandwiches or wraps or any real food would be very much appreciated. But they're new and hopefully they'll expand with time.
