Erie, PA
I liked it. It's not a 5 star establishment, but I had a good cup of Beef Barley soup and they've got a pretty good draft/bottle selection.
As always, the craft beers are on the pricey side, but if you're looking to drink cheap they've got $2 Oly cans (always a welcome sight).
One thing that won't matter to some people but will probably help others... This is a good place to disappear in if you're traveling alone and you're on the self-conscious side like I am... They've got a huge back room that looks a little bit like the inside of an Ivy League frat house, but it's got tons of tables with outlets if you're looking to get some work done on the lappy. -

Visited Sirens for lunch on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. The weather wasn't particuarly nice, so no outdoor seating was available. I will simply say that I concur with many of the other reviewers:
-- Somewhat unfriendly service (it was not "packed", I'd say it was "moderately busy")
-- Food was ok
It looks like this might be just the right place to go for a beer, play some pool or board games, and just hang out without the need to be served. -

Portland, OR
Disappointing late-lunch experience at Sirens....it was post lunch rush, and not terribly busy for a Saturday afternoon. There was no greeting upon standing at the door for several minutes, even though the male waiter was right in front of us. We found an empty table and sat down. We ordered apps, lunch and a couple beers. Beers arrived and then we waited OVER AN HOUR to be served our appetizer AND lunch at the SAME TIME. Ridiculous. Our beers were long gone and we had watched other patrons be served their lunch even though we had arrived & ordered 20 minutes before them. We even mentioned to the [same male] waiter that we had been waiting for our appetizer for a long time.
As far as we could tell, there were only 2 waiters working that afternoon, one male, one female. The lady was really nice, but unfortunately, not our waiter. The male waiter (kind of tall, lighter hair, middle aged) was rude, dismissive, and should not work in the customer service industry. Upon bringing our app and lunch together, we explained that this was not what we had in mind when we ordered an appetizer (appetizer should be brought BEFORE the main course, duh!) and he said, "what do you want me to do about it, pay for your lunch?" and turned and walked away. And of course, he left us without silverware!
ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. The food was good, the atmosphere was fun, but we will not be going back. There are many restaurants with good views and with much better service than Sirens. -

Never been in Port Townsend, WA, but this was the only establishment that served burgers on Water st. within the vicinity. Since we docked our ship on the piers. It was only a walk away.
Walked in, everyone looked at me, I did my usual and sat, waited to be served. Prompt, nice, fast, and fresh. man! I would like to try it again if I ever have in business here. -

After having lunch out on the deck with my fiance and being appalled by the horrible service, less-than-appealing food (overcooked burger with cold, stale potato fries) and unnecessarily long wait, I jumped onto Yelp and am entertained by how many recent reviews echo our visit; surly service, extended waits, and it being a gathering place for retirees.
I strongly recommend that if you visit, do so to DRINK and drink only (and copiously)!
And in response to one yelper's comment about how maybe sitting outside would improve the experience, NOPE it doesn't! The view was not anything that can't be gotten from a few other (better) restaurants up and down the block. -
Review from Julie H.
This place should be called Surlys as the "Sirens" behind the bar here are more than a tad surly. They're not really into friendly service here, and if you get there 10 minutes before the kitchen closes then you're too late because, oops! looks like the kitchen just closed.
If you do get food there be prepared to wait a while. How long should pre-made clam chowder take to get? Roughly 25 minutes if you ask them. Chicken skewers also should not take an additional 10 minutes to come out. The real issue is that this is the only place that seems to tolerate the sub 65 age bracket in PT, so you don't have a lot of choices. Just be prepared for the service and make sure you drink a lot. -

Yelp led me to Sirens.
I took a random adventure to Port Townsend never having gone there before. Upon arriving my company and I were famished. With no ideas of where to go I consulted Yelp and we decided on Sirens based on proximity.
It is on the upper floor and helpful signs lead the way to this eclectic pub. Being a weekday afternoon the pub was quiet with a handful of people sitting outside. We, too, would go outside and eat and even when it began raining the large umbrellas kept us dry.
The view was wonderful, even on a cloudy day. The service started out as mediocre, the lady who took our order barely acknowledged us, but then turned around minutes later. Same lady was chipper and happy when she served us and later asked how we were doing.
The place is eclectic. It feels like a port pub should feel. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. -
Review from Sonya G.
Pros: crisp, cool mojitos, and fun glasstop tables with business cards and coupons shoved under galore!
Cons: slow service, and a very soupy pasta I had.
We didn't get a table outside, but I could see the view might have made this experience! -

Port Townsend, WA
This pub seductively appeals to my maritime propensity.
Sirens lives on the upper floor of a historic building looking out onto Port Townsend Bay. At one time, PT Bay was filled with tall ships at anchor, bustling trade, and eager mariners spilling into town. Somehow, Sirens is able to weave that century old flavor into its atmosphere.
This "Pub of Distinction" gives many impressions: sultry but sophisticated, simple but eclectic, and delicious without question. The crimson walls and soft lighting invite you to relax. The walls are filled with nautical paintings and pictures, a perfect reflection of it's location.
On tap, the pub has a good variety of brews (including Port Townsend Brewing Co.) and the food is worth coming back for. My girlfriend and I love the black bean/portebello burgers. And despite what one of the other reviewers said, I love Sirens potato wedges!
The icing on the cake is the outdoor viewing deck. In the summer, it is easy to spend the entire evening chatting and drinking under the waning sun.
I believe Siren's is the best location to drink and eat in all of Port Townsend.Listed in: Nautical Port Townsend Tour

This place is awesome! Went on a Monday night and the place was packed. Oyster shooters were fantastic! Sitting outside was lovely. Pizza was killer. My only negative was that the kitchen closes WAY too early! Will definitely go back.

Seattle, WA
We'd been here before and experienced the slow bitchy service before, so we were kind of joking about how bad the service would be and certainly expecting it. Still wasn't enough to prepare us for the rude factor. I tried to ask a question about a substitution and got cut off mid word by a seriously attitudinal NO. Now, no is a fine answer, I have no issue with that, but if your preset personality is rude (and the rest of the evening indicate it is) then maybe customer service is the wrong job for you. This on top of crazy slow service and acting like I'm the ass for checking on the food I ordered an hour ago. I've been a server. I get that its stressful. I'm gracious to the overworked harried server, but when you act like I'm the inconvenience for ordering food from you, well one star.

Seattle, WA
The food is usually good here, and the view over the sound is great - at least if you get a seat to the left as you walk out on to the deck. In general it has a good local vibe. These reason's are the only reason it got the second star.
The service, however, leaves something to be desired. Surly is a good word for it. Slow is another one. After a server's honest-accident ketchup spill ruined my date's first meal, which was replaced, although not very quickly, they gave us a small discount off the one meal and made it seem like they were doing us a favor.
This is the second such experience there - previously they forgot to mention that the mushroom burger was marinated in soy after having been specifically asked if there was soy in it. (Food allergy reasons.)
In this case, two strikes and they're out. -

Diamond Bar, CA
Sirens has the slowest service I have ever experienced. I was a server for about 15 years and believe it, if I gave service this slow and with with this much of a 'screw it, whatever' attitude I'd have not been able to survive financially because no one in their right mind would ever leave me a tip. This is seriously sick.

Great deck over the water when the weather is nice. Avocado bacon chicken melt = yummy. House salad is more than just greens too, with dried cranberries and candied pecans. Nice atmosphere inside too. Well worth the stairs and maze to get to it from the street.

My wife and I decided to have a quick bite and a drink for lunch after spending the day in the sun visiting Port Townsend. We'd heard of Sirens and decided it was worth a try. The restaurant is upstairs and has an outside area overlooking the harbor. We were lucky enough to find a spot out there so we could further enjoy the rare sunshine. Up until now everything seemed fine. After about five minutes a waitress stopped by to see if wanted a drink or a menu. I'm pretty patient and attributed the delay in service to the crowd of folks enjoying the sun like we were. So, after an additional fifteen minutes, we received our menus. I started to notice that everyone around us seemed to know each other and the staff. That in itself isn't a big deal, but when the service spends all their time catering to the locals, visitors like us get left out.
The food was average at best. I had the Jamaican Jerk Burger and my wife had the Cobb Salad. Both were fine, but not great. They have a fair selection of beers...one to cover each of the main categories. I tried the IPA, which I enjoyed.
All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend this place. There are lots of other places in Port Townsend with better service and food...look for those places. -

While up in bainbridge visiting my parents this past weekend and was looking for a good place to good some cold beer and great lunch! Thanks to yelp i found Sirens!!!
From the top:
Its up a couple flights of stairs and theres just a little sign outside on street level, so you're going to have to keep yours eyes peeled.
Once you're up and inside its really quite an awesome place!!! FANTASTIC view of the bay/sound straight back with a pretty reasonable amount of seating. the indoors is great too! Very cabin like feeling. The staff seems very comfortable which also makes you feel at home!! All is great so far!
I ordered the california bacon avacado sandwhich and it was AWESOME!!! Cooked open-face on a ciabata bun. Melted cheeses over all the fixings with a what seems like a chipotle sauce of some kind underneath it all. SO VERY TASTY!
Split a pint of the home-brewed Stout (townsend stout). Im a bit of a stout snob and i really really liked it!!! I don't often find an exceptional microbrew.
The prices were just right and the food and service was excellent.
im not sure why im not giving this place a 5-star rating. Its so very close. A 4.5 for sure. Gotta save the 5s for mindblowers.
If youre in Port Townsend for any reason its a MUST-GO!
cheers! -

Olympia, WA
This bar had a cozy feel. An eclectic mash of decor, and a variety of seating options- there was the social bar area, seating to the side of the bar with a private booth, seating on the porch outside, and seating in the quieter back room.
They have an okay selection of microbrews. A standard NW selection of beers like Mirror Pond Ale, and then 3 or 4 seasonal brews. A decent selection, but not breathtaking. Pretty average for the NW.
The service was pretty good, although the waitress forgot to bring us water like we asked. We had to request it ourselves again at the bar. And it took a long time to get our check. But she was friendly.
My gf ordered the black bean burger. The burger was pretty tasty. But they gave her a bigger pile of jalepeños than potato wedges. That was disappointing, and the wedges themselves were a little dry. I wouldn't recommend that dish if you are going to get the wedges with it. It's not worth the price. I had the clam chowder, and it was pretty tasty.
And the prices in on the menu are a little more expensive than the prices posted online, so beware.
Overall, a pretty nice place. Free billiards, eclectic atmosphere, great view, and decent food and service. I wasn't blown away by the experience, but might come back there again. -

Hayward, CA
This place was perfection. It's easy to pass up the entrance since the sign to Sirens isn't super big, and you have to walk up a few flights up stairs to get there (no handicap entrance for this one), but once you do, I assure you, it is so worth your time.
We came in, sat down and fell in love. This place is so eccentric with its mismatching furniture, books and loads of board games (it felt like an Etsy fantasy come to life.) BF got recommendations on beer at the bar, which proved to be more than satisfactory, and then we ate our hearts out. From the appetizers to the entrees (which I think you we had to order at the bar) everything was delicious.
There wasn't really any service besides the bartender and the gal that brought out our food, but even that (which some people might take as rude service) added so much to the experience. There weren't very many other patrons, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves.
It was lovely.
There's also a super quaint deck out back where you can go chill with your beer, enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the bay while you wait for your food.
And...I really have to mention that if you're more of a high maintenance customer (and be honest with yourselves) then this place might not be for you. There's no waiter loitering in the area to bring you your ranch and another beer, you actually have to get up and request it. But I really felt that the lack of service took nothing away from the experience.)
This place gets 5 stars on Yelp and in my heart. -

Bothell, WA
This is a great place to hang out and grab a beer from the bar. Lots of games to play and when the sun is out a really great view. If your looking for a great place for dinner I'm not sure I would choose this venue. The burgers are good, but the potato wedges we received where hard, almost black and cold. The service, as others have mentioned is fine for a bar, where the patrons do most the work by going up to the bar and getting their own drink refills. Its not typical service for a restaurant. So in summary, great place to hang out and order a beer, bad place for a good restaurant experience.

Redmond, WA
Nice and not obvious. Probably most tourists won't find it. You kind have to look for the doorway that leads you up a staircase, through a hallway to the deck hanging over the water. What a view! During the wooden ship festival, you can see everything.
Also, we sat next to another biker who had lived in the vicinity for 20 years. He added some color to the place and provided us with a little history over drinks. Drinks were good and pretty cheap. There were some boat builders double-fisted drinking Olympia beer from cans that provided ample entertainment.
We got some steak nachos too, which were not bad... that's the only reason they don't get the 5th star. More and better steak would have helped, but they did use a couple kinds of cheese instead of cheddar or nuclear cheese.
Our waitress was really friendly and never seemed hurried even though she was obviously overworked.
I'd be surprised if there were a better bar in Port Townsend. -

This is a great place. The food and service, are fantastic. They have a large, outdoor deck. Overlooking the beach. Free billiards in the back room. Great beer specials. No need to go elsewhere.

We waited two hours for our food in the hot sun on the deck . . .which would not have been bad if was only 30-45 min., but after 2 hours we were melting. There was one waiter and the food was not that great. . . at least what we ordered. This seems like a great place to just grab a drink pay at the bar and relax. The atmosphere was fun. I wouldn't recommend it for a meal.

Great atmostphere , great food, and great selection of micro beers. I have been here four times. Tried the grilled portabella mushroom sandwich and grilled chicken bacon avocado. Both were in the price of $10-15 range. Quality of food was great and the portions were right on; not to full and not still hungry. For what you getting the price is right. Also, a pool is free!

This is the place to go if you're looking for good food and a pub atmosphere in Port Townsend.
I have been there a few times, and their appetizers are enough to make a meal out of. We like to order three or four and call it good. Their jalapeno poppers are to die for (they wrap the jalapeno and cream cheese in bacon and serve it with a spicy dipping sauce). They also have chicken breast that they glaze with buffalo sauce and serve on a skewer (much easier to eat than wings). My absolute favorite is their rock shrimp tacos. My description would not do them justice - go for yourself and check them out. Now!!
They also have a ton of board games that are at your disposal. And a TV in the back to watch the game. Add in the pool table, a view of the water and surrounding area, and outdoor seating... seriously - what are you waiting for?? -

Seattle, WA
Damn cool joint, I must say. Pretty big, too, with a nice pool room and some cozy booths to take over. The drink are from mixes, which is OK, because the DECK....oh, the DECK.
We sat out there as the sun was setting on a 79 degree day in Port Townsend. I like how they set it up, with only tall tables so you can really see over the railing. Food was bar foody but decent. Rock shrimp tacos were simple but tasty.
Service was good. I hate when people complain when the service takes a little longer when it gets busy. That means there are a lot of people there....what, are you the only ones who are supposed to get served? Ignore all the other people who want drinks. I want mine...NOW. At a normal old bar, if it's busy, it will take longer to get served...this is not Rover's. -

Sirens is a delightful place to hang out, drink Port Townsend brews, and pretend like you're a serious writer hatching out the next best seller. (We'll see about my best selling capabilities later.)
A large group of friends and I sat in a conglomeration of tables, chairs, jackets, backpacks, etc. and the wait staff were super friendly about service, including splitting up bills which, let's face it, is a pain.
I would recommend the appetizer trio and the crab cakes as both were delish, but the Port Townsend Porter was the best thing about the place. Get one and take it out to the deck and wait for the sun. When it's out it's gorgeous. -

Seattle, WA
Sirens was overall a pretty mediocre experience. I had just gotten into town from an 11 mile hike, so maybe my mood and energy level were less than stellar to begin with, but my desire for a satisfying meal was not fulfilled. I arrived, ordered a beer (they have a good beer list and some from the local PT brewery) and food from the bar, as this place doesn't have regular table service. Normally I have no problem with that, but it took nearly an hour for the food to arrive - just a simple hamburger and potato wedges. Fortunately they had a live band playing and a pool table (albeit with cues missing the tips), and the furniture is comfy and eclectic. The burger was pretty tasty, but the potato wedges were hard and gross.
Sirens' food is generally less expensive than everywhere else on Water Street, but I would fork over a few more bucks and go elsewhere. -

Seattle, WA
Deceptive from the outside, you'd never know it was there unless you walk up a flight of stairs in a old Victorian building, through a hallway and down a long corridor! And there! Light at the end of the tunnel!
Great deck, great deck, great deck! Good happy hour prices and I enjoy the food. No grumbles about the service as long as you don't mind getting off your arse to walk 20 feet to the bar to order food. If you're a lazy "I'll sit here until someone notices me and I demand to be waited upon" type then you're outta luck. Take the initiative and go to the bar, then sit on the deck and enjoy yourself.

The food was GREAT - the prices were GOOD - the service was BAD.
Here's how Sirens works: You order at the bar (drinks and dinner) and someone brings you the food. But that person who brings food will not look you in the eye and ignores you if you attempt to get her attention unless she's actively bringing your food or engaging you.
The food, again, is great but the attitude is un-necessary. -
Review from Alisande T.
Port Townsend, WA
Fun atmosphere for drinks, but the food is really mediocre. I ordered the crab cake appetizers and for $12 they should actually have some visible, detectable crab. Instead, they're thick and large, but mostly made of bread crumbs, onion, and a few flecks of red pepper. I'm not that hard to satisfy, but I honestly could not have told you they were crab cakes if I'd tried them blindfolded. The greens they came with were quite wilted, too - not fresh looking at all. Come for drinks and atmosphere, and skip the food.

Dover, NH
Great, great place. We like it enough to make up reason to go on all three of our days in Port Townsend despite there being plenty of other good-looking options.
The "order at the bar" model and varying levels of table service should take about 5 minutes to get over. It's not hard to get a menu and they keep enough people behind the bar that's it not hard to get quick service. Sure, not a "magical" service experience, but not something to keep you away. We found the bartenders / "wait staff" to be very friendly and engaging.
We never ordered a full dinner, but LOVED the nachos (they also looked wonderfully colorful) and burgers. Good selection of local Port Townsend Brewing Company beers. Since the PT taproom is out of town a bit, this is probably the best place to try that brewery (there's also Water Street Brewing down the street). I was a big fan of the stout and scotch ale; AR was a fan of the golden ale.
What sets Sirens' apart is the variety of atmospheres and things to do. The deck is nice though probably usually quite cool - a breeze comes off the water. Near the bar is a pretty standard bar setup with small tables and high ceilings. But, off to the back is a large swanky room with a TV and leather furniture. It's usually pretty quiet in here. They have various games and trivia cards around and we took full advantage. A relaxing, fun place with good food and drink. -

don't miss this place for a pint or three and the food portions are generous and very good. The mountain of nachos served my table well.
walking up the stairs to this place I was reminded of the way my great grandmothers house smelled, This only adds to the charm of the place. Great balcony overlooking the water, on a clear day you can see all that you would need to inspire you for that day.
this place made me want to write poetry. I could see myself sitting by the fire with a pint of a locally made beer (maybe the port townsend scotch) using the numerous reference books on the shelves as my inspiration and just write. I don't write prose, but I just got that vibe.
fun place, check it out -

I have a love/hate relationship with you, Sirens. Your drinks are good and you have my all time favorite beer on tap (Stella Artois), but your bartenders can come across a wee bit cold, it takes FORFUCKINGEVER to get your food, not to mention how long it can take in line before you even order, the bands you book generally aren't that good, and you could afford to expand your menu to include a few more diverse appetizers. With that said, the nachos are awesome, the vibe is pretty good, and you can't beat sitting on the outside deck in the summer.
