Review from Chris M.
Marshfield, MA
Twenty-four flavors of soft serve, and it's not all the color white, like some other places. Color makes a big difference. Who wants to eat a white raspberry cone?
They're open 24 hours, but there aren't many donuts left after noon. I got a fig stick. It's made with pie dough and puffed pastry. Good stuff, but lots of calories, especially with fig.
The "rum" soft serve tastes kind of like egg nog. Good stuff. -

Does anyone work here who is over the age of 18? Took me about 20min to get anyone's attention but lemme just say the soft serve was totally worth it. SO GOOD. SO GIANT... I even got the small.
At around $2 this is a no brainer... just don't expect service with a smile. The place is super run down... there is a drive through though... for those times you just can't get up out of your car to get your ice-cream on. We've all been there folks.
If you can wait for your treat this is your kinda place.Listed in: Good Mornin'

Being from NYC and surrounded by hundreds of coffee shops/cafes, Sip N Dip is definitely in my top 5 favorite coffee shop list. First thing first, their ice coffee is to die for. It's actually one of the things I look forward to when I'm in Bristol! I don't know what coffee they use, how they brew it or what they add, but it's the best ice coffee I've ever had. The donuts are fresh and tasty and the soft serve is surprisingly good as well! Plus, where else can you grab some coffee and treats, step outside and get beautiful views of Bristol Harbor?! It's going on a few weeks since I've been to Sip N Dip and I'm missing it already! haha

It's funny to hear some of my friends on facebook ask me when they see me check in here on foursquare "what's sip n dip?" My response is, "it's only the best coffee/donut shop in RI. Locally owned and operated, Sip N Dip has a few locations from Warren to Tiverton. This particular location is a 1 minute walk from my house, located right on Bristol Harbor along the bike path. Before I moved to Bristol a few years back, I was a DD guy. Once I moved here to Bristol back in 2009 my then fiancée suggested I should try Sip N Dip as she knew I was a big coffee guy. Being that I am a creature of habit, I was reluctant at first and still went to the DD in downtown Bristol for my daily ice coffee. Well one day I went to the DD in downtown Bristol and received the usual crummy service by some ignorant rude teenage girl, who would always mess up my coffee. So I had finally had enough and decided to give Sip N Dip a shot. Let me tell you since then I have not looked back. Sip N Dip has had the same girls working there since I started going there in late summer 2009. Nice and personable. My coffee tastes the same EVERY DAY REGARDLESS OF WHO MAKES IT. And the coffee does not taste like it's been in the pot for 3 hours. Whether you prefer hot or iced coffee, the quality of the coffee is just flat out better! Their donuts are delicious. Not stale and small like DD. The breakfast sandwiches are bigger and tastier than DD. Say you get bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. First off, the bagels are huge. Not the little 3 bites and your done size like DD. And the bacon, egg and cheese take up the entire bagel, not just the inner middle. And Sip n Dip uses the real white cheese, not that gross orange whatever DD uses. Plus this Sip N Dip serves soft serve ice cream in the Spring/Summer months. There a few tables inside if you wish you sit and read the paper while having you coffee. They have a drive thru and a decent sized parking lot.
Sip N Dip is just a better coffee/donut shop. Food is better than DD, coffee and service is much better than DD. Plus everytime I go there I know I am contributing to the continued support of small businesses in my community. If you are ever in the area, stop in and you will not be disappointed. -

I pretty much wont get coffee anywhere else!
I don't like D&D coffee so was hesitant to try theirs but boy am I glad I did! (its also cheaper)
The bagels aren't bad and I haven't really tried anything else but I love, love, love the ice coffee. I always get a med, chocolate/coconut with skim milk and little ice.
90% of the college kids that go to RWU swear by this place!
It's also open late on weekends till like 2 am so it's great for the nights that you are eh ummm.............studying ;-PListed in: Bristol College Kid Musts!

Sip-N-Dip

bike
A little donut, coffee and ice cream place right on the east bay bike path in Bristol. A nice place to replace those calories you just burned off on the bike ride.
The donut section is a lot like a pseudo Dunkin Donuts but I think the coffee is actually better than most D&D's. Plenty of donut and pastry things to choose from to quickly get your RDA of daily empty calories.
The other side of the store has I scream, 24 flavors in fact. Nothing too exotic but some fairly interesting ones like blueberry, tutti fruity and maple walnut. Of course they have a list of toppings your can add.
The store has a few tables inside and a drive through so you don't even have to spend the energy and calories to get out of your car. Sip-N-Dip does get very crowded in the summer and pretty chaotic. The employees do a good job but on occasion service slows down to a crawl. I was in there the other day and a woman in front of us was actually counting out a whole pocket full of pennies to pay. Fortunately no one was behind her. But all it takes is one knucklehead like her and a place like this slows to a stop.Listed in: Places to scream about....

i am basically obligated out of sentimentality to review good ol sip n dip!
i spent the better part of my early twenties drinking their blueberry iced coffees with my best friend jess. and grabbing those nasty but delicious sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwiches after a late night at the bar. they were so good. and so bad for you.
sure, it doesn't have the air of mystique, and sophistication, and contrived artsiness of other "coffeehouses." it is just a down to earth, no frills place for locals to grab a coffee and carb of choice.
other things i like about it
a) it's a local chain unlike the dunk
b) actually okay coffee
c) the pastries are a little eh, from what i remember. but decent donuts and breakfast sandwiches.
d) they have an unusual and staggering variety of ice cream flavors
e) right off the bike path -

Coffee is decent (as an alternative to Dunkin Donuts - if you don't care for their coffee or can't be bothered to head into town) - don't care for their donuts, bagels or muffins.
They do have great breakfast sandwiches - the sausage, egg & cheese is greasy goodness. Honest. -

Sigh. I love the Sip-N-Dip in Warren, RI - which is delicious coffee and pastries only. I have to dock the Bristol, RI Sip-N-Dip location because I've honestly never had worse soft serve in my life. They have this extensive menu of flavors (30? 40?), that you can mix and match as you choose. Good luck with that if anyone in the last year has had coconut flavoring added to their softserve. I got dutch chocolate and dulce de leche and they both tasted like you opened a coconut, dumped a gallon of water in, froze it, then piped it out of a soft serve machine and served it. DISGUSTING!! My husband got something completely different and also was like "does this taste like crappy coconut ice cream to you?" Yes, yes it does. Not good at all.

Thing 1) Sip N Dip is not a D&D knockoff. Theyve been around forever.
Thing 2) They are locally owned and operated and pay their staff a decent wage.
Thing 3) If you are a Rhode Islander you basically have a MORAL DUTY to eat here because the money goes back into our local economy and the food is better than D&D anyway.
Thing 4) The coffee is better and cheaper than D&D
Thing 5) They hire intelligent staff, not the cretins who end up working for D&D. Many of the staff at Sip N Dip have been working there for a long time. If you go to one of their locations with any kind of regularity they will get to know you and often have your order waiting for you
Thing 6) The new double chocolate muffins were baked by Satan for the express purpose of sabotaging my diet
Thing 7) Sip N Dip is basically the greatest thing ever and everyone should eat here. -

I am loving it. It is a little out of my way and but I didn't know what I was going to do when Timmy Hoho's went down...so said RIP it's the distant cousin to the TANK but its a local chain, its tasty and dunk is too unreliable and inconsistent. Plus they give my dog a bone at the drive thru..I mean come on what beats that!

Every weekday morning I go through the drive-thru at Sip N Dip in Bristol. It must have the best view of any in America. I hope that there is a line and I relax and watch the boats swinging on their moorings. At the window on very clear days you can see the Newport Bridge 12 miles distant. The coffee is great too.
