My husband and I went to Catalina Island recently to relax for a few days, and he booked us a couple's massage at Simply Nirvana - mostly because of their good reviews here on Yelp. I've had many massages in my life, and the one I had with Barbara at Simply Nirvana rated well up there! My husband was massaged by Emma and really liked his massage too. Having a couples massage meant that we were both in the same room receiving our treatment simultaneously, and it worked very well for us.
The space was quiet, comfortable, and calm. Barbara and Emma are wonderful healers, obviously passionate about their work, and great at it. Before my massage, Barbara asked me about my preferences: pressure, places I was tight or sore, etc. She focused on what I'd asked her to help with, and was flawless in her technique. I felt very relaxed and much better after the massage.
Highly recommended! Check this place out when you visit Avalon on Catalina Island. -

Emma is the BEST massage therapist in Avalon! She is a professional. I went to Simply Nirvana because I have chronic neck and shoulder pain from playing tennis and biking a lot. She massaged the deeper layers of muscle in my neck, back and shoulders to help in the healing process for me. I highly recommend her to others who want a serious massage to aid in their healing and overall well-being.

My husband and I just recently took a mini-honeymoon to Catalina Island for the weekend. The first thing we did after we got off the boat was to look for a nice massage place. We checked out Yelp and Simply Nirvana had a bunch of good reviews.
We decided to try out their couples massage and it was very nice! I noticed one Yelper saying it was the best massage they had ever had in their life. I'd say I have to agree...so far.
Definitely worth trying again when I visit Catalina again. -

The best massage I've had in over a year. I came here with my wife on her birthday for the 60 minute Balance couple's massage. Her masseuse was excellent, too. The room was well-decorated, quiet and comfortable, and the spa-style music was just right.
They had a special running for four massages, so we came back the next day and each had another at a good discount. We both recommend this place. -

My boyfriend and I came in here last week and had a couples massage.
IT WAS THE BEST MASSAGE I HAVE EVER EVER EVER EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. The ladies didnt talk the whole time, the room was dimmed, smelled amazing, the massage felt magical.
I have had many massages in my life and these ladies were something sent from heaven.
I loved the location, the place was very cute and well decorated.
The owner was very friendly they EVEN PICKED US UP FROM ZANE GREY wow now thats service.
I told everyone all over the island they must go see them.
If you are looking for an amazing massage go see these people you will be IN HEAVEN like we were.
Thanks so much again ! btw.. my boyfriend hated massages and now is addicted to them after going here :)
I hope we can find someone here in San Diego that is close to how amazing these ladies were.

After reading several Yelp reviews for other spas on the island, I settled on Simply Nirvana. I have no regrets! It was a great experience! I surprised my boyfriend with a couples massage and it was perfect. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

The ladies that work here are AMAZING!!!! I took my sister here for her 30th birthday. It was well worth the money!! The quality is GREAT!!! I'm definitely going back here when we go back to Catalina Island!

When you go on an island for some R&R you gotta treat yourself to a massage. I think it's required by law.
Things worth noting:
1. Located in the Cricket Alley Shops right across from the Radio Shack. I think they're open around 10 AM. Don't be surprised if no one is there till 10:15 AM. Remember.... it's island time.
2. You can book an appointment online, on the phone, or in person.
3. They're currently having a special on their Balance and Soothe 50 minute massages. Normally for $90, they're now going for $75. Soothe is an equivalent to a Swedish. Balance is an intermediate between Swedish and Deep Tissue.
4. If you like it rough, ask for Chris. I think that's his name. If I'm wrong, it's the young fellow with the glasses and the skateboard. He's relatively gentle at first, but will accommodate to your pain threshold.
5. Each massage goes from head to toe. No muscle is left unturned. You get an eye pillow while they work on your extremities. At the end of the massage you get hot stones and a hot towel for your back. My boyfriend had a sunburn on his back, so they happily changed it to aloe and peppermint oil for his specific needs.
I left the massage loose, lax, and slightly disoriented from the bright light outside. It was a great experience and will return on my next trip to the island.
